BEWARE - BAIT-AND-SWITCH PRICING!…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience with this company deserves one. I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated. This whole experience felt misleading and dishonest. Stay away.

Recently, I used them to move from Arlington to Denton, and the move as always was FAST and smooth. The communication with their main office for scheduling is great. They take an estimate of your things and furniture to give you a quote. After that, I received about 2 phone calls leading up to the move to make sure the date and time was still okay, and to check if there was any more items to needed to be added or taken away. Move day was the best. They came on time. They knew where to park in my apartment complex. They were in and out within about less than 2 hours. The drive to Denton was about an hour, so the guys went somewhere to eat and refuel. Perfect communication along the way though. The move in my home was flawless. They asked where everything needed to go. Didn't get an scratches or dings along the way. They were careful with my furniture and bigger items. At the end, the entire move lasted about 4 hours total. That's not bad with a big couch, multiple tvs, a dinner table, 1x king bed, 2 dressers, another guest bed, office disk and game chair, and multiple big paintings. They got a big tip from me. Little Guys is that moving company that you just gotta keep in your pocket. They are fast, efficient, great communication.... There's no one else I would want to use!

The first move we had Nathan and Riley. They were amazing. So nice and helpful. Did a great job! Today was our second move and had Nathan and Caden. Once again a great experience! They moved quickly and didn't dilly dally around. They packed our belongings carefully and took special precautions to make sure our valuables weren't broken. Would highly recommend this company to anyone moving. We hadn't moved in over 20+ years and Christy made our move seem seamless!!

Unfortunately, my experience with First Step Moving was extremely disappointing. I read all of the…read morereviews and we specifically went with this company because of the amazing reviews. Our experience was quite different. I understand that the owners of this company are not present for the moves so they may be unaware, but these movers seemed to be amateurs. After the move was completed, the movers left their trash on the curb of our home, including water bottles, and also left partially empty tea bottles inside the house. That alone showed a lack of professionalism and respect for a client's home. During the move, they spent time talking on their phones, which slowed the process down. Several items were also left behind at the original house, forcing us to travel back after the move was completed to retrieve them. Many pieces of furniture were not placed in the correct rooms, which caused additional frustration and ultimately required us to hire another set of hands to help reorganize and move items properly. There was also damage to our belongings. My daughter's $400 dollhouse was broken during the move, mirrors were not attached back to the bedroom sets, and the bed was not put together properly. In addition, multiple parts of our furniture were left at the old house. To make matters even more concerning, my wedding ring also went missing during the move. This entire situation created far more stress than relief on what was already a very demanding day. I explained that as we hired movers specifically to make moving large items easier and less stressful. Unfortunately, this experience was the complete opposite. I truly hope the company takes these concerns seriously and improves their professionalism, accountability, and care when handling customers' homes and belongings. The owner Kristy reached back out after I left a vm and she credited one hour due to certain complaints expressed but after the movers left, we found several other issues. Christine was absolutely amazing with scheduling the move but there has been no follow up since I've expressed several other concerns.

THEFT: They stole several new high quality and expensive moving blankets and we had to play "search and rescue" to find our blankets in their truck after they UNWRAPPED stored furniture that had brand new blankets and then REWRAPPED the furniture with old filthy blankets to bring them from a storage unit to our house; (2). FRAUDULENT BILLING & PADDING OF INVOICE: Currin padded the invoice by approx. $250. (3). NEGLIGENCE & PROPERTY MISHANDLING: Currin had no carpet protection to put on carpets even though he confirmed prior to the move that he had new runners to put down. He only had one for the entry and it was filthy. Currin tried to put filthy plastic down but it did not work so he decided to remove his shoes and had his coworkers do the same when bringing items in, therefore creating a hazard for everyone including the items he was moving. These crooks left furniture turned upside down and purposefully put it in wrong rooms to be vindictive. (4) REFUSED to HONOR LIABILITY COVERAGE FOR CLAIMS: We paid $300 for liability coverage and had damage to several items but when we reached out to him to file a claim, he refused to provide any information to start the claims process. Sam Currin also had hostile and threatening behavior toward my husband and I when confronted about the stolen blankets and bill. He was caught and we all knew it. His hostile, aggressive, and threatening demeanor continually worsened until he stormed out of our home. He created an unsafe and intimidating environment. This level of aggression and lack of professionalism is unacceptable, dangerous and will be reported.

Each time I called Wheaton, which was suggested by a realtor. This last time, we used Duryea Moving and Storage from Denton, Texas, to move our belongings from U-Store-It in Sherman, Texas to Edmond, Oklahoma. I am much appreciative of Wheaton because we only gave them one week's notice, and most companies will only move you if you give them at least two weeks. Wheaton came through again, and our driver, Steven Peace, contacted us on Thursday, telling us that he would meet us at the storage facility 8:30 that Saturday morning. With a crew of three, including himself, Steven had our two units emptied and loaded in less than three hours. He arrived in Edmond with a crew of four Monday at 7:30 a.m. If anything, Steven is prompt. They unloaded, took direction, hooked up our appliances, set up the beds and sectional furniture, and were finished before lunch. In addition to being prompt and quick, his team is courteous and professional. We recommend Wheaton and Steven if you are moving a short distance or cross-country.

I realize they charge an hourly rate for their service and the longer it takes the more they make. But do they have to use a moving crew that works as slow as molasses? The crew did not move with any sense of urgency or efficiency. A move that was quoted 5 hours took 8. During the 8 hours, one crew member got overheated and stayed in the truck for an hour and when he got out would only put 2 boxes on his dolly to move into the house. Came in the house, stayed a couple minutes and then went back to get 2 more boxes. It was a very frustrating move to say the least. There was a point that I, myself started moving stuff to the truck to speed up the process. I proceeded to call the company to let them know about the sub par service we received and was bounced around from person to person with no resolution. Not only was the service bad but the customer service was horrible. As a company they should be willing to make good on the service but didn't seem to care about our issues. I'm not sure how they got the rating they have because they definitely don't deserve it. The lack of professional integrity is staggering.
