@makimart.ca is known for its 25 flavors of sushi, I was excited to findmakimart.ca out they also offer rotating soup! Like their affordable sushi priced from $2.95- $8.95 per piece, their soup comes at $2.95 and is served pretty hot, perfect for the Winter. For this visit, I've tried 2 of their new flavors- Uni Toro and Hamachi belly. Also had their butter fish sushi. I prefer savoring my food, so I usually serve them cut up. Last 2 photos are close ups of the uni toro and Hamachi belly. So delicious!
I have ordered too good to go last time, and it was so good and wanted to buy their rolls again!! We got three different flavours of the rolls, they were avocado, mentaiko scallop, and shiitake mushrooms!! All of them taste good The place is easy to find and there's lots of parking outside the store. The staff was so nice tooo
Great value and delicious! Happened to stop nearby and saw this while hungry. Was very pleasantly surprised. Tried several rolls and came back for more. All were good: unagi roll, spicy salmon roll, salmon belly roll (also has salmon roe), hamachi roll, fatty toro. The free soup If you get at least 3 rolls is delicious. It's a small shop. No place to eat so plan to eat elsewhere. Girl at the counter was patient and helpful.
I was up in this area for a kids birthday party close by and wanted to get some sushi for later that night and this was a great call. There isn't yet a location in the downtown core yet so I was excited to get a bunch of maki rolls. I got enough to get 2 free drinks and contemplated on getting the jumbo salmon roll but decided on something else. The employee was so nice to give me 2 free jumbo salmon rolls in my order, I guess because it was getting close to closing time and the rice doesn't keep well the next day. Still have yet to try the uni roll, I'll have to wait until the downtown location opens up so I can go early enough to grab one. Location is small so it's only take out. I enjoyed my rolls, wish they gave me more pickled ginger for the amount of rolls I had.
Just be aware that everything is like one bite-size, as shown in my photo, so you'd most likely need to break the bank if you really want to have a filling meal. Maki Mart is good for quick snacks. The fish used were frozen, as sometimes I could taste the ice in the handrolls. I really liked the sweet soy sauce they gave out though. The store was small and for take out only. Service was standard.
If you love sushi, you have to check out Maki Mart! They've got over 20 flavors of maki rolls, and prices start as low as $2.95, which is honestly such a steal for how fresh and tasty everything is. They've also got a promo going on where you get a free drink if you buy 3 rolls. So of course I got 3 rolls to get this promo: A5 Wagyu- So rich and tender, it just melts in your mouth. Definitely a treat-yourself moment! Fatty Toro- If you love tuna, this one is a no-brainer. The toro was so buttery and fresh, every bite felt like heaven... my absolute favorite! Mentaiko Scallop- This one packed a punch! The briny, umami flavor from the mentaiko paired perfectly with the tender scallop. Honestly, I'm still thinking about it. What makes them super unique is their half DIY style. The rice and nori (seaweed) are packaged separately to keep everything fresh, and you assemble them yourself following the instructions on the wrapper. It might feel a little tricky at first if you're not familiar with this Japanese style, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually really easy--and kinda fun! Overall, it's a really conveconvenient and tasty concept, but they do sell out fast for the popular flavours (salmon, uni, octopus, etc), so I don't recommend to wait too long to go!
I wish this place opened up a downtown location! Very cute shop selling hand rolls and refreshing drinks. We were in the area and always wanted to try this place out so we bought a bunch to try. They also have a promotion where if you post on social media, you get a free handroll. They also gave us 2 free drinks for buying 6 handrolls! Each handroll was pretty affordable, majority were $3.95 each and I believe the vegetable filling ones were only $2.95. Some were a bit more depending on how premium the fillings are. Still a great place for quick snack or lunch if you buy a few. We got the jumbo salmon, salmon ikura, spicy salmon, crab meat mayo, and tuna mayo. All the rolls tasted great and I love how they keep the seaweed separate until you open and put it together yourself. The seaweed remains crisp and fresh to eat. Instructions were also clear on the packaging to easily roll it together. For the free drinks we received the lemon and peach juice. The lemon drink was a sparkling lemon drink and the peach juice had jellies inside - very refreshing! There's no seating inside so it's a quick grab and go spot. Staff here were welcoming and service was quick and friendly. Hoping they open up a downtown location sometime soon! They did not have any deals on Too Good To Go App but my friends did purchase a bag of goodies from the north York location. They paid $16 for 12 rolls, which is an amazing deal!
Came here for a quick lunch grab and loved it! Maki rolls,, simple yet such a great snack/meal depending on how many you want to eat! I personally liked the jumbo salmon, spicy salmon and crab mayo the best. But 3 get a drink, loved the coffee it came with! :) prices are fair ranging from $3-8 (depending on if you want premium rolls). Would definitely recommend and come back to try more flavours!
Dropped by today to grab some lunch. I've heard of this place for a long time and haven't had a chance to come until today. They have the buy 3 get 1 drink. The rolls were good and filling were generous. I love how they package it so that the seaweed is fresh and crispy when you roll the roll yourself. I will definitely be coming back.
If you want a snack, then you should try this place! Service was quick and the store was super small. Buy 3 get 1 free drink. They ran out of the corn soup so we got the pumpkin and it tasted like candy. The rolls were great as a snack but definitely not a proper lunch.
Quick and easy takeout Japanese sushi place. Many choices on their menu. Fun to play with their sushi roll DIY kits. The order came with some cute fish-shaped soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger packets. At the end of the day, it's a fun experience to try. Inexpensive food and you'll get what you pay for. However, I don't think I will come back often as this is quite gimmicky rather than tasty in my view.
Maki Mart is a cute shop selling a huge variety of maki rolls, rolled and ready to eat! Perfect if you are looking for a quick bite on the road or a lunchtime snack. However, if you're coming here on an empty stomach, it can get pretty expensive, so beware! You will be tempted to try everything. The service at Maki Mart is also quick and friendly, just pick your rolls and off you go! Each roll is around 3-5 dollars, with each one being around the length of your hand. For one person, I'd say you need at least 3-5 rolls to at least satisfy your stomach a little. The rolls are wrapped so that the seaweed stays crispy and fresh, just make sure to follow the instructions on the wrapper! They also have an Instagram special right now where you can buy 3 rolls and get a free drink! Your order also comes with a super cute soy sauce fish which is perfect for getting just the right amount of flavour onto your maki rolls (I need more of these fishes for myself asap). We ended up ordering 5 different Maki rolls: - fatty toro (4/5) - sea eel (5/5) - jumbo salmon (4/5) - spicy salmon (5/5) - salmon ikura (5/5, my favourite but only 3 or 4 spheres of ikura in a roll) My only complaint is that instead of your usual chopped/diced fish in a sushi roll, the fish is made into a paste/mash. I find that as a paste, it tastes and feels cheaper than your usual sushi (and because of this, there is also less filling). I prefer being able to bite into a nice chunk of fish. But these rolls are fun to eat, so as a quick snack it's not too much of a problem. I really enjoy the concept of Maki Mart, and will probably come back to snag some more of the soy sauce fishes for myself! With the buy 3 rolls and get a free drink offer, it's not too bad for a quick meal if you are nearby!
This place was a surprise because I've always seen the store but never tried it. Today was the day and I got 4 different rolls. I liked the spicy salmon roll and the jumbo salmon roll the best but all were really tasty and savoury. Honestly a steal in this economy for sushi. The store is takeout only and it's a little difficult to find a parking spot. However the store was clean and the big menu made it easy to choose from. The service was great because they gave me some recommendations of what to try and would definitely recommend it for anyone who's interested. Rating 8/10!

Tried out Maki Mart after it exploded on the internet. It is definitely living up to its hype as the food is not only cheap but tasty. Best of all, if you buy three rolls and post on IG, you get a fourth hand roll for free. The hand rolls are relatively filling and there are a lot of flavours to choose from. When I went, there was actually a bit of a line. Overall, my favorite was the Fatty Toro flavour. Would definitely recommend trying this place out at least once read more

Convenience stores are great, but one that sells Japanese hand roll is even better. Maki Mart is a tiny shop that offers a nice selection of handrolls - priced at 3 different levels. Do make your trip early, as they sell out fairly often. The hand rolls came in an interesting packaging, involved a bit of DIY where you roll the rice yourself once you pull off the wrapper. As the seaweed was separated from the rice, it was kept nice and crunchy. Each roll wasn't that big, so probably need to eat a few to be full. They also offer a can of soup/drink with the order of 3 rolls. Trying 7 different options, my favorites were the salmon ikura and tako wasabi - as these had the most prominent flavours. Maki Mart has taken the GTA foodie population by a storm, and for a reason! they serve a variety of maki rolls that are perfect for on the go or as a quick snack. my personal favourites are the spicy salmon and mentaiko scallop, but i don't think they have mentaiko scallop anymore.. or maybe it was a seasonal item. i honestly find that it's only worth it to get the raw fish dishes as the cooked dishes can be made at home, but all are still worth the try this is a takeout only spot so the inside is very small. i would recommend taking them home to eat or waiting for nicer days to enjoy them outside! they also have a deal where you can buy 3 rolls and get a soup or drink for free - and for a limited time, if you post on your instagram, you get an extra roll for free read more

A great spot for some sushi hand rolls! They offer some good deals as well. If you purchase three rolls, you get a drink for free and if you follow and post the place to your story on Instagram you can get a roll for free (up to $3.95) I believe. The hand rolls that I ended up getting were the salmon ikura, botan shrimp, spicy salmon and seasoned scallop. What's great is the seaweed is packaged separately to ensure freshness and so that you can roll it yourself and eat it right away. My favourites would definitely have to be the shrimp and salmon ikura. The other two were alright. I would love to come back for more as they aren't too expensive either. read more
Came on the weekend so we could try their uni roll. The staff were really nice and so helpful! I tried the uni, salmon ikura, fatty toro, and spicy salmon. The uni was my favourite, it was so rich and creamy and tasted sweet and fresh. There was a good amount inside the roll as well! The salmon ikura, had so little ikura that it was easy to miss, wished there was more. The rest was great in flavour and quantity. The rolls do have to be assembled but there are excellent directions on the package and very easy to do! Love that this keeps the seaweed nice and crispy. read more

I ate here for breakfast four days in a row staying at the hotel next door and it was the highlight of my day. As I'm from NY, prices for the quality of sushi was very decent with my favorites being the salmon belly and jumbo shrimp. We came for decently large order everyday (~13 rolls) since a friend and I were only in town for our tattoo appointment, so it was a perfect quick grab and go and kept us fed through the day, with a free drink. I recommend the hot soups if you're feeling tired of tea. Was surprisingly good and I went back for a different flavor everyday. There's a constant flow of people, so I would say some items do sell out quickly, but it does also keep the sushi fresh. read more
Came here after the instagram hype of this store. If you do an instagram post and tag them, you get a free handroll. All other regular customers get a free drink. Ambiance - 4/5: small store front so no seating area. However, it was nice, bright and clean in the store. Food - 4/5: got the following rolls: baby octopus, sea eel, california, mentaiko scallop, teriyaki salmon and spicy salmon. The rolls were flavourful enough that we didn't need to add any soy sauce. I personaly don't handle spice well so it's rare for me to use wasabi in general. The rolls costs anywhere from $2.95-4.95 per roll. It took us awhile to get the hang of rolling our own. My first roll and part of the seaweed broke on me but afterwards, it was fine. The filling to rice ratio for us was ok, however some rolls still had more rice. The drinks - we were not a fan of yogurt drink. It reminded me of the Chinese yogurt drinks in a small bottle, with an extra added flavour. The strawberry soy milk was ok. I would take that over the yogurt drink. If you are an avid yogurt drink lover, you can give it a try. I do wish they had the tea option available. Service - 4/5: the staff were super nice and quick. We got there around 10:30 and there was already a line up outside the store front. But the line moved fast. However the docked star is for the false advertisement at the door. It was supposed to be buy 3 rolls and you get a free soup or tea (see photos). However, they only had a yogurt drink and strawberry soy milk option. Overall: 4/5 - I would go back if I'm in the area. Definitely go right when the store opens! I went 20 mins before they opened and there was a line already. Thankfully the line moved super fast as it was quick and efficient. I got fatty tuna, spicy salmon, hamachi and tuna corn. It was all very flavourful and delicious. It's small but it's supposed to be a snack. My fav was the fatty tuna-toro. Cute and fun spin on the idea of grab n go sushi. Being able to roll them myself is a fun and quick activity. Reasonably priced for one roll and the fillings are fresh. My favorite is the salmon ikura if you like fish roe. Friendly customer service, and for every 3 rolls, you get a free drink. They close for the day once they sell out so be sure to get there earlier in the day. read more

New store selling hand-rolls where the seaweed is fresh based on how its packaged. Its a grab and go store. Buy 3 rolls and you get a drink - good deal! There is diff price point on the rolls depending on the main ingredient inside. Right now its 10% off because of grand opening! Overall satisfying handrolls if you want a sushi fix! read more

Was craving some maki and saw this place on instagram so decided to check it out. I ordered 3 different makis: sea eel, negi toro, and ebi salmon roe maki. As you can see, their portions are on the smaller side. Even though I have a small appetite, it still took all 2 makis to fill me up. Their ingredients were fresh and they give you some complimentary soy sauce and wasabi. I would be interested to try out their other options. Great grab & go spot for quick bite. Variety of different options & love the packaging. Tried a few flavours & found ones that I loved as well as ones that weren't for me. It is a small space inside the shop so during peak hours, may have to wait outside as there is not enough space to stand inside. Parking in the plaza can be difficult, may have to go to the basement to find a spot. read more

I visited around early lunch time and all the options were in stock. My favourite was probably the fatty toro but everything was pretty good. Usually one of my favourite maki rolls is spicy salmon but I didn't like their sauce as much and actually preferred the salmon ikura. The way it's packaged is pretty convenient to take out and keeps the seaweed fresh. I also love the little soy sauce bottle you get. The only downside for me is that it wasn't that filling and it can get expensive to buy a lot. Right now they're giving out a free roll if you post on social media. read more

I've been here two times so far, it's a cute little spot to go and have a snack/lunch. They have a deal " buy 3 get a drink for free". I find it a bit pricey as the rolls are a bit small but it's fresh and some of the items they use are quite different from our places. The staff is friendly and the service is quite fast. This is a nice small shop located in Markham that serves individually wrapped hand rolls. I LOVED the ikura hand roll! The ikura was good quality and bursts into your mouth as you eat it! I went back again a few hours later to grab more hand rolls since it was that yummy! They had a promotion where if you buy 3 hand rolls and post on social media, you get a free drink. This sushi maki mart offers both regular and premium DIY rolls. They are not that expensive and are made daily, so expected them to be fresh. I love the concept of a small store offering a variety of delicious maki rolls to meet every one's pallet. They are great for picnics or an outdoor snack. I highly recommend this place. I think this is the best grab and go sushi I have ever tried. I got 3 handrolls and a drinks for just like ~13, and the quality of the handroll is better then I expected. However, there is a long line up, take me almost half an hour to get in. Anyway, I will be back for other flavours for sure! read more
