Rachel is truly an artist and a perfectionist. I first had my eyebrows microbladed by her in 2021. I had a scar through my right eyebrow that I had been filling in for years, and I also wanted fuller, more defined brows overall. Rachel was honest from the start, explaining that she might not be able to completely conceal the scar, but she did an incredible job. I was thrilled with the results. Fast forward to 2026, and I realized I hadn't plucked my eyebrows once since having them microbladed. While the color had naturally faded over time, they still looked great - it was simply time for a refresh. While waiting for the numbing cream to take effect and chatting with John, he suggested adding upper lash liner. I was hesitant because I'd seen older permanent eyeliner that had faded poorly over the years, and I was nervous about having a procedure so close to my eyes. In the end, I decided to go for it, and it was one of the best beauty decisions I've made. The procedure was surprisingly comfortable, and Rachel's skill and professionalism immediately put me at ease. The results are subtle, natural, and beautifully enhance my eyes - my husband didn't even notice at first. I couldn't be happier with my refreshed brows and new lash liner. Rachel's attention to detail, artistry, and expertise are second to none. I highly recommend her to anyone considering permanent makeup. read more

Completely satisfied with the results! I was referred to Rachel by one of my friends after she had eyebrow microblading done. I originally wanted just my eye brows done but decided to also get eyeliner tattoo. Rachel took time to listen to what I wanted and also to draw an outline to make sure I would be happy with the shape and design. I wanted a natural look to both my eyebrows and my eyeliner. The whole process took about 2 hours. There was some redness and eye lid swelling especially on the second day so I would suggest ice packs for the eye lids. The facility is very clean and there are partitions for privacy. A small parking lot is available on Beverly. Price for both eyebrow and eyeliner are very reasonable compared to elsewhere. Touch up after the initial 4 weeks is included in the price. Rachel has about 30 years of experience in the beauty industry so you can trust her work. read more

Rachel has a family member who understands what neurosurgery is, so they made me feel very comfortable and gave me some great advice. Rachel even gave me a big discount after seeing my scars, which surround my face. Rachel took her time with me. After reviewing my photo gallery, she advised me to go for a very natural look, barely noticeable with lashes that helped even out my features. Makeup by Rachel is located in the heart of Koreatown. I just had my brows done at Makeup by Rachel and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The studio is incredibly clean, welcoming, and comfortable from the moment you walk in. Rachel is professional, warm, and clearly very skilled at what she does. I did a combination of microblading and ombré, and the results are super natural -- exactly what I wanted. She took her time shaping everything to suit my face and explained the process clearly. She's also very efficient without ever making it feel rushed. I was honestly surprised that I felt no pain at all thanks to the numbing cream. The entire experience was smooth and relaxing. I had the most wonderful experience getting my brows microbladed, and I truly couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, the process was thoughtful, professional, and surprisingly relaxing. My brows look incredibly natural--so much so that I've had countless compliments from people who can't believe they've been done at all. The subtle definition has completely changed how I feel about my appearance. I wake up feeling more confident, more polished, and honestly, more youthful. It's such a game-changer not having to fill them in every day. I feel like the best version of myself, and I'm so grateful for the care and artistry that went into creating such effortless results. Highly recommend to anyone considering it--it's one of the best self-care decisions I've made! read more

Yay! Back here again! I only come here to get my eyebrows microbladed but this time I'm getting the ombré eyebrows and eyeliner! I'm very excited because I know that I'm in good hands with the talented, very experienced, and meticulous makeup artist Rachel. Cute, calm, and clean atmosphere. Friendly service. You won't regret getting any of the services here. She has all the credentials you can imagine. Eyebrows didn't hurt at all! Eyeliner stung a bit but no pain no gain! Love it here! She's also great with makeup for weddings, birthdays, parties, and more. I've gotten it done in the past. read more

5/28 Update: This is my third time coming to Rachel over the last few years! Since this is the third time, Rachel and her husband recommended getting the powder (also called ombre) brows. I have always gotten the microblading done previously which is to give a more natural look whereas powder/ombre brows give a more defined filled-in brow makeup look. Rachel told me to give it a try and that if I didn't like it, we can change it again in a couple years when it's time to re-do so I figured why not. I definitely recommend coming here not only because I think Rachel does a fantastic job but I think she keeps her prices very fair and competitive. The process is the same- you go and check in and you will get "before" pictures taken and have your eyebrows numbed with a cream. It will take about 20~ minutes to numb and then Rachel will have you sit while she draws your eyebrows using a pencil/ruler/etc. to make sure you have the most perfect shape. After you approve, she will have you lie down while she works on you. It doesn't really hurt too badly in my opinion and if it does start hurting, she can add more numbing cream and wait a bit before continuing. I wil definitely note that your eyebrows will look crazy/dark for the first few days so make sure to not plan any special/big event for a week or so after. Parking: there is a small parking lot next to her building. read more

It's officially been five weeks since my micro blading and eyebrow tinting appointment. I wanted to see how my brows healed first. This was my first time getting my brows done and I was really nervous! I had a few pictures saved on how I wanted my brows to look (the straight Korean style). When I arrived, I sign some papers and waited until a nice gentleman came and applied some numbing cream on my brows along with some saran wrap. He told me to wait until the person in front of me was done and for the numbing cream to take effect. When the time came, I showed him the pictures I had saved and explained how I wanted my brows to look. Then he explained it to Rachel. She spoke mostly Korean but I think she understood what I was trying to say! She spent her time measuring my brows and drawing them in so I could see how the finished product would look. Once I approved them (I just went along with what she did because it felt like she was an expert) then she got to work. It was not uncomfortable really, I could feel her scratching away slightly and the tinting but I also have a higher pain threshold. When it was done, my brows looked dark but I liked how they looked and the amount of color. I was then given a packet of petroleum jelly and instructions on how to care for them. I put the petroleum jelly on my brows until the packet ran out because I wanted to take good care of them. I think they healed very well, the insides of the brows lightened up a bit to look more natural and the color is just perfect! I really hope they last for a few years. It's such a great feeling to wake up with good looking brows for once in my life lol. read more

I've been seeing Rachel for eyebrow microblading for about 6 years now! Her work is detailed and incredible. So many people in LA go to her, she's really probably the top person to get it done with. I get mine touched up every 2 years and honestly, the ink still looks great and fresh before the 2 year mark is up. Completely worth it! read more

I was really hesitant to update my review but their business practice became so shady, I decided to make an update.. So I made an appointment to come in Wednesday afternoon for eyebrow microblading since a touch up has been way overdue.. I had to cancel that appointment due to prior commitments at work.. After a few minutes of cancellation, I receive a text message from the business warning me about other practitioners and their lower prices.. like um okay..? How rude of you to assume that I cancelled cause of the pricing.. Their attitude really says a lot about how they run their business and makes you question how they got those five star reviews in the first place.. read more

The place is very clean and relaxing with easy parking, which is always hard to find in LA! The ambiance is soothing and comfortable, and Rachel is friendly and professional. Came back again after 4 years to redo my eyebrows! Didn't take care of them so they were fading but I LOOVEEEE THEM!!! Appointment/checkin: very fast and very smooth. They were super polite, clean and efficient. Waiting area and the place are cutely decorated, great ambiance. Eyebrows: they look bomb. Total process took about an hour(including the numbing process) it sounds like little scratches but other than that you don't feel too much. Rachel draws the brows on first ti make sure you like the shape and color, so you know exactly what you're getting and adjust to exactly what you like. Just finished so can't wait until they fully heal!!! But they already look so good. One less thing to take care of in the morning :) All in all, 5 stars, 10/10, highly recommend. It's even worth the hour drive it took to get here. read more

Exemplary customer service from Eric! He can answer all questions and address any concern. Rachel's work was perfect, IMO. Not only did she do the shape of how i DRAW my brows, the color also matched my 'drawing'! Please note: i did not provide any suggestions or requests; Brows were untouched for a week, and have stopped 'drawing' brows in many months. What a wonderful experience! Easy parking, beautiful office space and very welcoming. Getting ready to get the brows done, I'll post pics afterwards

Rachel did an amazing job on my eyeliner, and out of the many times I have gotten this done at other places, she was the fastest, most painless, and to top it off, I got virtually no seedling the day of or after! This shocked me bc each time I've gotten it done, my eyes would always be swollen for at least 24-36 hours. I'm so pleased w the results and highly recommend her and her clean, pretty studio! read more

This was my first time getting micro blading done. I got eyebrows, hairline and eyeliner. The place is very pretty inside and everything is explained to you carefully. I took some painkillers before getting this done, and eyebrows didn't hurt at all. Eyeliner was a bit nerve-wracking but I never felt unsafe. Really happy with the final result, eyebrows are a good balance of natural with a slight filled-in look from the ombré. Thank you! read more

Love my new brows. Rachel is so talented she found my natural brow shape and I feel like I have a whole new face. Her lines are really elegant and realistic. Overall with the numbing cream it was pretty painless and the aftercare wasn't bad at all. I was initially a little worried when I first got it done cause it looked a little red but that was just due to the freshness of the tattoo after the first week the color settled and matched my natural brow color perfectly. read more
