We met over zoom for our hair and makeup lessons and I was able to record myself going through the steps. Shana gave me so much amazing advice from managing my hair in the heat, to applying eyelashes, and which parts of the eye shadow palette to use for various looks. Being able to have the video with me while I was getting ready at dawn with every step made everything feel seamless instead of stressful. I've never felt more confident doing my makeup. Waking up at 4:45am and being ready to go at 6am felt crazy, and I was so happy I knew exactly what I was doing and what to pack for touch ups. It was so wonderful knowing I had everything I needed.

I decided to start from scratch: to learn about proper techniques, to choose products and shades that are right for my skin and not just the popular line or the counter at Nordstrom with with friendliest artists. I also thought it would be cool to figure out how to do makeup specifically for zoom calls, but also learn how to do it up for going out. Enter Shana! I booked an in-person make up lesson with her and to accomodate my crazy schedule, she came to me. She was easy to communicate with and super clear about what was needed for the session to be productive (the right lighting and space). I learned so much in the session and I came away with lists of options for product and actual techniques. I never felt like Shana was trying to push a specific line or product. She was very much like: If it works for you and you like it, use it ... but also awesome about giving choices when I wanted them. Let's be honest, some of the best lines can be really pricey but Shana was rad about giving options at a few different price points so I didn't feel pushed into things I couldn't afford. One of my favorite things was that she focuses on keeping the skin underneath the makeup fresh and dewy so that radiates through under makeup and you don't have to fake it! One of the lines you can buy through her directly has quickly become one of my favorites and my acne-prone-tried-every-dermatology-product-under-the-sun skin has never looked better. After the session she was great about checking in, answering questions, and helping me remember things I forgot! I'd love to do some future sessions with Shana...even bring her to a Sephora with me.

I was handling all this from across the country and had tons of questions and concerns, which Susie promptly and patiently answered, thoroughly setting my mind at ease. We hired her for hair and makeup for events over 2 days of the wedding weekend. I should mention that my daughter never fusses with hair or makeup and really had little interest in even doing this! She didn't do a trial session and really had no specific ideas about how she even wanted her hair done! I explained all this to Susie ahead of time and she dealt with it beautifully - making suggestions and coming up with the perfect plan for 2 different hair styles for the 2 days and makeup slightly more subdued the first day to see how Alicia liked it. Well, I was stunned - not just at how gorgeous it was - but because Alicia totally LOVED the whole process and the final result!! I attribute all this to Susie's calm, sweet and knowledgeable manner. She explained everything perfectly and her suggestions were spot on- it was obvious that she was a seasoned pro!
