Leah, Chris, and the team at Dreamcatcher Artistry SF are absolutely incredible! While I was searching for the right hair and makeup artist, I knew I wanted a really natural, minimalistic look. I rarely wear makeup on a daily basis and I just wanted something super simple to elevate my natural features. From the start, my consultation call with Leah alleviated any fears I had about being overly "glammed" and her portrait gallery was full of examples of makeup that aligned perfectly with the naturally elevated look that I was going for. The pricing was very reasonably competitive for Northern California as well. My assigned artist (Chelsea) was a literal godsend. She was so calm, knowledgable, professional, sweet, and efficient. After looking at hairstyle and makeup inspo pictures, she pretty much nailed the look that I was going for immediately. I also was initially nervous about my hair (I'm Asian and have really thick, glossy hair that never stays curled or in a bun), but she worked really diligently with me to adjust my initial hairstyle idea into something really romantic and soft to fit with my wedding dress/venue vibe perfectly. I cannot say enough good things about Chelsea, she is the absolute sweetest and I am so incredibly grateful that she was a part of my wedding day/journey! I could not have been happier with the service Dreamcatcher provided, from start to finish. After researching endless makeup options for my wedding I decided to go with them because price was about the same as others but I felt like they offered more. The airbrush foundation and lashes were a big selling point. Plus the reviews made me confident I was making a good choice. And boy was I right. They communicated with me for my trial and the day of so smoothly and promptly. I never felt like I was worried. On the day of my wedding I had 2 artists, Sye and Ashlee. Both were amazing. I had Sye for my trial and she did flawless work so I knew I was in good hands again on the day of. If you do your makeup everyday, and want a snatched look, I would suggest you look somewhere else. Off the bat, the artist who did my makeup can only do one look well, which is just base makeup . It looked really good on some of the bridesmaids, but that's it. I asked them for a soft glam and even showed them a picture for reference. The makeup artist tried to correct me that it was full glam, and I wasn't about to argue with her about what was and wasn't full glam, so instead showed her a reference picture of myself from a previous wedding as inspiration for my makeup look. The picture I showed her had no intricate eye look or extreme contouring, but it did compliment my face, and gave myself color. Anyways, I didn't get anything close to either picture. While she was doing my makeup she also acted coldly towards me, so while she was doing my makeup I felt uncomfortable. After she completed my makeup, to say I was underwhelmed was an understatement. My eyebrows were distant cousins, I had to tell her I wanted blush, and the bronzer she put on me was way too cool toned for it to show up on my face. And considering I paid $200 for just this service, this wasn't even including hair, I just wanted what I paid for. After like 30 min of thinking, "you know what maybe I just didn't communicate what I wanted I well enough" and the makeup artist called for touch ups I thought I'll go up one last time for her to fix my makeup. I then asked her can you fix my eyebrows? I told her whatever you did to my left eyebrow I need you to do to my other one. She said okay no problem, I can do that for you. Once she was done she handed me a mirror, and I shuddered at my own reflection because I had instantly been transported to 2014 and my eyebrows were thicker and darker than the Amazon forest which doesn't look good for my face. At that point I didn't want her touching my face anymore and I had to call my sister to bring my makeup so I could clean up my eyebrows. For the rest of my face, thankfully, the head makeup artist Leah was there. *If that isn't her name I'm sorry* and she's the only reason I'm giving this company two stars. I asked her if she could fix my makeup, bring up my contour and fix my blush, since that's all I had time to do. And what I asked her to do she did so and did it well. I just feel like if you hire this company make sure Leah is there and you do your own hair. The only reason why I don't have as much vitriol for the lady who did my hair is because she was at least nice to me. But my hair did fall working 30 min and I hadn't even left the room. Anyway, $200 for hair and $200 for makeup I feel like is unreasonable considering the makeup artist didn't do what I asked and the hairstylist didn't do what I asked and my hair fell. Our wedding was on 10/18/25 and I worked with Leah on the communication stand point through out the entire journey from beginning to end and she was fantastic. Always followed up within the day, she had great communication, the forms to fill out so they know what look you are going for was super easy and helpful. I worked with Sye for my bridal hair and make up for both the trial and the day. My sister make up was also done by Sye, with hair by Kalani. Kalani was our hair stylist for my bridesmaids. As a woman who does not normally do my hair and makeup, the idea of getting ready on the big day was a bit stressful. Thankfully, my planner put us in touch with Dreamcatcher! The Dreamcatcher team made the whole process so easy, guiding me through the planning process to think through what I wanted and providing a very clear day-of schedule and preparation list ahead of time. Sye was my artist, and she was so lovely to work with during the trial and on the big day. She made me feel very comfortable during our time together and answered all of my questions. Married Dec 2024 in San Francisco - Hair/makeup for bride and Maid of Honor along with hair for mother of the groom and makeup for Matron of Honor (had two MOHs). Dreamcatcher HMUA was fantastic. I'm a 60 yo bride and my bride hair looked EXACTLY like my picture I showed her. My soon to be step-daughter and Maid of Honor looked amazing and her hair looked exactly like her pic she showed to the HMUA. My soon to be mother in law (82 yo) had her hair done and it looked great and she was very happy. My sister (Matron of Honor) is 72 years old and her make up was flawless and she was super happy. I did not find my experience as wonderful as everyone seems to have had. My contract with another company was absorbed by Dreamcatcher Artistry and I soon realized I was paying extra to a company that is pretty much just a middle person and probably taken a massive cut for another woman's work. I found that I was asked questions and then, without disclosure, charged addition fees, which I then contested as it should never have been additional costs. I felt like this company looks to nickel and dime its clients, which seems a bit cheap considering I was already paying a couple thousand dollars for just three women for hair and makeup, one little girl for hair, and for my husband to basically have his hair brushed/styled. I am happy to pay well for good service, but I do not appreciate it when it is done in a dishonest way. When it came to scheduling, I was not very impressed by the effort to be proactive in making a pretty simple schedule request work so I could make it for my first look timing. Luckily, I was able to suggest a solution that worked perfectly since the response I previously got from Dreamcatcher was no help at all and basically said there was nothing that could be done. Overall, I wish I had known how this worked and had found a makeup artist to contract with directly. The makeup artist herself was fantastic. Please research makeup artists that perform the work themselves. Star deductions have nothing to do with the quality of the artist, whom I was happy to additionally tip for her work. My advice to women contracted to Dreamcatcher is to be your own advocate and know when you are getting ripped off. When you see a company that does work in multiple locations, that is probably an indicator that you are paying more for that overhead. UPDATE: I am disappointed with the response as it did not really address what I took exception to in the first place, which was the attempt to charge an undisclosed fee of $50 as an added "travel fee" would entail bringing a brush a few feet away in the room next door address the referenced added service of essentially brushing and gelling my husband's hair (a $100 cost I was happy to pay). In private correspondences, Dreamcatcher has stood by the fact that this is reasonable because of her policy and that it was a failure on my part to understand her policy. The lack of humility in seeing my perspective is a bit astounding. I would think that when quoted $100 to brush a man's hair, it is probably safe to assume you don't want the groom having his hair brushed in the seat next to you while you are getting ready and that there is no cost impact to the artist walking into the adjoining room. When we discuss logistics and am asked if he will be getting ready in the same room as me, it would not occur to me that I would be charged even more for having us in different rooms just a few steps away from each other. I also never asked for a certain number of artists, nor was contracted to a certain number of artists. I would anticipate that work is priced accordingly to begin with. I would imagine it would have been very difficult for one artist to do all the hair and makeup for three women and the flower girl on time within a few hour window, but I certainly did not dictate how the work was accomplished. Also, keeping in mind that the artists were limited to a certain timeframe because they had another appointment that morning as well. To state that not charging additional travel fee on top of the contract travel fee ($85 for a 20 minute drive I again happily paid) is somehow a major deal to me is a dishonest representation in itself. read more

We were a large group and Leah was extremely accommodating when services kept getting added in the preceding months. I didn't know exactly how to describe what I wanted, but Nora saw into my soul and gave me the perfect look. Chelsea is an absolute rockstar. I had my preview session with her and based on a couple of photos, she nailed a look that was beautiful on me. I used Dreamcatcher Artistry for my wedding in May 2019 and they were wonderful to work with. Leah is extremely responsive and communicative--she is the manager or owner of the business and handles all of the scheduling and contracts. She sent Sye to do my makeup and I had two trials with her because I couldn't decide what I wanted for my bridal hairdo. Sye is brilliant at what she does - just to give you a sense, she mixed two lip colors to make my bridal lip color, and it was such a fresh and pretty nude lip that I ended up going to a place in SF to have that color custom matched and made for me. On the day of, we had three artists total for 5 ladies including me: Ming, Sye, and Nora. Nora did hair for the 4 ladies while Ming did makeup for everyone except for my MIL (just how the scheduling worked out). They were all absolutely brilliant at their jobs and my ladies came out looking like models! In addition, they were so warm and made everyone feel comfortable. Everyone was pleased with their looks and had a wonderful time getting ready. Some highlights: my MIL had tripped and fallen the previous day, scraping her nose and lip badly in the process. She was worried that the wounds would show up in photos, but Sye concealed it so well that you couldn't even tell it was there. See my photos to see what I mean! Also, my mom has really low self-esteem and was feeling very anxious about having her makeup done. Ming made her feel comfortable and gave her a look she absolutely loved, despite being really hard to please. Ming had a gentle hand and checked in with my mom every few minutes to make sure she still liked her look. Thank you, Ming! There was also a point where we were running 30 min. or so behind schedule with the last lady, but Ming and Nora assuaged my worries and said basically "don't worry, we got this -- we deal with this all of the time." They teamed up and worked on the last lady done and we even finished with 5 min to spare. They clearly were experienced and very professional, and had the goal of making sure I didn't stress on my wedding day. Thank you!!! Another kudos to Sye because when she arrived at the house, she took initiative to set up her bluetooth battery powered speaker so everyone would have music to get ready to, and moved furniture out of the way so everyone would have enough space to work. The goal for my wedding hair and makeup was to look like the best version of myself, nothing too over the top or out of the ordinary, and that's exactly how I felt. Our artist, Maya, was amazing to work with. She did hair and makeup for both my mom and I, and we're already scheming how we can work with her again. Not only is Maya incredibly personable, which is very important when you're spending hours together on your wedding day, but she is knowledgeable and truly a talented artist. She's also very patient -- during my trial we went through a couple of hairstyles to find the look that made me feel the most confident. We took precautions with regards to COVID-19, and I felt incredibly safe. Maya wore a mask and a shield, and frequently disinfected her tools and washed her hands constantly. My sister and niece worked with Nora for their hair and makeup services, and while I don't have firsthand experience with her, the final product spoke for itself. They looked gorgeous! My sister said that Nora was so friendly, listened to all of their requests, and also followed all COVID-19 procedures which made them feel very safe and comfortable. Working with Dreamcatcher for my wedding was wonderful. Leah was great with in regards to the scheduling and making sure I was booking exactly what I needed to. Maya was our makeup artist and she made me feel so beautiful! We did a trial a couple months ahead of the wedding. Maya was super flexible with timing, I requested a very early 8 am time and she was able to make it no problem. For the big event we did two different looks for the ceremony and reception, an updo and wavy down look. Both turned out exactly how I envisioned! I originally reached out to Leah back in 2019 when I scheduled my hair/makeup trial and booked her team for our 2020 wedding. I couldn't have been more grateful to work with her through a COVID wedding postponement. She was so understanding and we were able to move everything over to our new 2021 date, as well as keep my artist that I had my trial with booked for the new date. In the months leading up to the wedding, I emailed Leah with SO many changes and I couldn't have been more appreciative of how she handled everything. I would choose her and her team over and over again. Hayley was my artist for the trial and the day of the wedding. She was such a joy to be around. She was friendly, kind, and as a pleasure to be around. She remembered / referenced everything that we discussed during the trial (two years before!) and made the few small adjustments I had requested. I was nervous that my curls would fall flat and so she made sure to address that. It happened to essentially monsoon during our wedding and I was so relieved when everything held in place! I have nothing but great things to say about her. She did the makeup of some of my bridesmaids as well and they were all very impressed by her as well. We were out in the elements and everything held in place so well. Chelsea and Katie were our other two hair & makeup artists and though they didn't work on my hair and makeup, my bridal party had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. They were also both a pleasure to have around that morning and everyone had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. Hayley, Chelsea, and Katie all had to drive through an atmospheric river event and brave the elements to get to the hotel where we were getting ready early that morning and they all arrived on time and in good spirits. My wedding party and I had the most wonderful experience with Leah, Maya, and Nora from Dreamcatcher Artistry. I knew right from the start that I was in good hands when Leah responded almost immediately to my inquiry email. She was always super responsive throughout the whole process and was so patient answering all of my questions (as evidenced by the dozens of emails we exchanged in my inbox!) Due to pandemic restrictions, my makeup trial had to be done outdoors in the backyard in the middle of a heat wave. And let me tell you, my hair and makeup somehow held up even after being applied in the heat and humidity and while wearing a mask the rest of the day. I literally had strangers stopping me to compliment me on my hair and makeup (which NEVER happens in my day to day life, ha!) My hair and makeup artist, Maya, was so sweet and incredibly patient with me during the trial. She was able to recreate my hair inspiration photo perfectly and custom mixed multiple lip colors until we found a shade that I liked. The airbrush foundation felt barely there, but gave me the perfect amount of coverage. Maya asked me many questions throughout, making sure that I was happy with every aspect of my hair and makeup. On the day of the wedding, Maya was joined by our second artist, Nora, and between the two of them, got my wedding party glammed up. They wore their masks and face shields the entire time, frequently washed their hands, and sanitized their equipment in between each person. A couple of men had their hair and makeup done too--airbrushing and all! Our artists worked with everyone to give them the exact hair and makeup look each person wanted, finishing right on schedule. I had the best experience with Dreamcatcher. Leah and her team are excellent. Super responsive and easy to coordinate with and they listen to what you want. My artist, Nancy, was one of the highlights of my wedding day. She did a phenomenal job on my makeup as well as my mom and sisters. She understood the assignment and delivered the natural look we had asked for during our make up trial. She had spent time asking for feedback and making adjustments during the trial so on the actual wedding day I I could enjoy a rare moment of peace with my eyes closed while she worked.
