Found my new spot in Hayes Valley. Been looking everywhere for a round brush blowout with a stylist that uses rollers and Color WoW products to provided extra volume and a little curl. Reached out on Yelp and several places just said no and left it at that. One place wouldn't even answer without me booking first. Made an appointment to get my hair colored. I have light brown hair so I wanted to go blonde. Never had anybody tell me they couldn't do that. I'm tired of doing highlights as they are very costly. She told me we would most likely have to do highlights for some reason. So strange as my hair isn't even dark. Anyway I told her I couldn't afford it as I just got highlights not that long ago. She was pretty rude telling me that they should charge me for canceling late. They don't even have my credit card on file so I'm not sure how that would work. My hair experience with Siobhan at SKG Salon was amazing! I found her through a Groupon deal I had purchased for a Full Balayage or Full Highlights with Cut, Olaplex Conditioning, and Blow Dry. It was my first time doing a Balayage so I didn't know what to expect. I also didn't know the difference with Olaplex conditioning but Siobhan explained everything super clearly. She's extremely experienced and knows exactly what she's doing. She made me feel very comfortable while working on my hair and she didn't discriminate on the fact that I came in with a Groupon. After Siobhan worked her magic I was super happy with the results. Other salons have told me that my hair is too dark to get it to be as light as I wanted it without extremely damaging my hair. Siobhan was able to get color in my hair and the Olaplex conditioning she used left my hair feeling healthy even after being processed for hours. I'm currently 7 mos pregnant and I haven't had a haircut in over a year due to COVID. As soon as Siobhan reopened her salon this week, I texted her right away to make an appointment. Her salon has always been clean and I knew she would take very great care of sanitizing everything. I parked easily in a meter out front and was at ease and comfortable. i found Siobhan by some great miracle when i was desperately looking for a new stylist to save me from a tragic botched hair color nightmare from another salon. I came in with streaky hair that had been over processed and lifted to different levels, my color was awful a brassy tone. Siobhan did a thorough assessment of the splotchy color and talked me thru what she was seeing. She clean up my damaged ends and worked her magic with the color!! Siobhan saved me! with a combo of highlights, lowlights, a smudged root, bonding treatment and toner -- and after some hours she had corrected and blended my hair into a result that i am thrilled with!! She was not there at the time but her coworker called her in to take care of me and do my hair for my birthday. 10 Stars!!!! I got a partial balayage here and I am extremely happy with the results!!!! (Exceptional customer service - beyond!!!). Siobhan is a hair color genius. She listened to what I asked for and met it exactly. I'm a very picky person with my hair. I did not want a haircut because I am trying to grow my hair out but I had a lot of split ends. She has a technique to trim my ends and yet I did not lose my length. I came home and had no split ends - incredible!!! Covid safety measures: Going to get my hair done is the riskiest task I've undergone since the start of the pandemic. Siobhan takes covid precautions seriously. She had signs for where she last sanitized. Hand sanitizer available in several places. She had her mask on the entire time. There are 2 air filters. I felt very safe and comfortable. Parking is a bit tricky because it is a busy area. She was very helpful with parking. I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience here. Siobahn is really great. I appreciate anyone that can translate, "I want something DIFFERENT but not too edgy. I might be OK with shorter, but I want it to still look long... I usually just like to look basic and pretty. But I am bored with this... so I'm open to suggestion. Again, I really don't like that short, edgy look though. I like pretty." I'm the least helpful person ever and also the kind of person to cry in-salon over a bad haircut, so most hairstylists tend to be super conservative and let me keep my extra long (back-length), layered, pretty basic-girl hair lest they end up with an unreasonably pissy customer in the seat. We were going down this "lets just do a trim and color touch up" path that I do with every stylist based on my inability to articulate before I finally decided... "I want something different!" She's a saint for not rolling her eyes at me in the moment. 4 hours later, I have a long bob (4-6 inches off) and a much lighter bayalage and it's perfect. I would never have known how to ask for it! Siobhan has been my hairstylist for more than 14 years - through a variety of hairstyles ranging from shoulder-length to short spikey pixie, and a few different colors as well. Need I say more? Okay, well, she is extremely skilled at cutting, coloring and styling hair. She keeps up with trends and techniques. She's dependable and conscientious. She's creative. She has the ability to figure out what I want and looks good on me (given my melon head of coarse, straight, Asian hair), based on a vague description of something I kinda like on someone else or a photo of celebrity hairstyle. I VERY rarely write reviews before but couldn't help myself after my experiences with Leilani. Leilani has cut my hair three times now and I didn't realize the quality I was missing out on with previous hairstylists. For years I've been searching for the right haircut for my face shape and (mostly lack of) styling needs. Any time I would ask prior hairstylists for their recommendations - basically providing them creative license-they would flip the question back to me. Leilani was the first stylist who truly worked with me to find the haircut I didn't know to ask for. She explained the options she felt would (or would not) work with my hair and the time I was willing to commit to maintaining it. Honestly she saved my hair. I fried the hell out of my hair - overprocessed it and even had some fall out because of the damage but now my hair ffinally feels like hair again! I get olaplex treatments with Leilani and I wish I could just have her closer to me I travel from Salinas just to see her and get my touch ups and lightening.
