I hired Make 'Em Pay for a rush small claims service and told them from the beginning there were two defendants at the same address. Because it was a rush job, they only had a few days to complete service. They failed to do it in time, forcing me to request a court extension. Even after the extension, they still treated the case like a normal-speed job despite charging me for rush service. The process dragged from May 21 to July 6 (46 days). I paid $212, but they served only one defendant and did not file the proof of service. Now I have to spend another $100 to have the second defendant served and pay extra to file the proofs of service for both defendants. Had I hired a different process server from the beginning, both defendants would have been served and both proofs filed for $170 total. Instead of taking responsibility or trying to make it right, they repeatedly hid behind their policies and blamed me. I paid more, waited longer, and still had to hire someone else to finish the job. Very responsive to messages, and clearly tech-savvy! A lot of process servers I've looked into are still using Geocities-era websites from decades ago. These guys were well-versed in the details of process serving, and after multiple attempts on my defendants (who the sheriffs already tried but were "evading service" per the sheriffs) they served an adult at the address then mailed via Substituted Service. I was initially a bit skeptical at Make 'Em Pay's average five-star review as doesn't every business end up with a few unhappy/crazy/off-base reviews?!? But after working with them for the past few months, I can see why they have such a high rating! It isn't easy trying to hold people accountable since you have to serve them and they might be good at evading these efforts. They also guided me so creatively that I immediately felt I had found the right company. They know the ins and outs like a pro. The bottom line, however, is that they got the job done. I had a great experience with TJ, who assisted me in serving notice of hearing for a DVRO renewal. The entire job was complete in less than 24 hours, including a skip trace to locate the respondent's address as well as actually serving the documents to the respondent. Needed to serve an Agent of Service in Glendale. Sent messages to all the process servers on Yelp that serviced Los Angeles county for quotes. Make 'Em Pay wasn't the cheapest but they were one of the lower-cost bids. They required payment upfront which concerned me but I decided to move forward due to all the positive Yelp reviews. I'm glad I did. Make 'Em Pay was responsive to my enquiries and had an online portal to upload all my documents. They served the papers within two days, sent me a copy of the summons via email, and the original hard copy via the postal service which I received within the week.
