So I had a previous processor file a suit against a business and they told me I could serve the business myself, so I went and dropped off a letter. Went to virtual court and they told me I had no proof of service so my court case gets two months. I'm kind of bummed but oh well, all I have to do is serve the business. I email this guy with the court document, explain everything and ask can you serve them? Yes he says, politely!!! Ok great, my court case is in 5 weeks, we need to serve two weeks before. Two weeks go by and I hear nothing. I follow up very politely. He replies there's no case on the document so you need to file the complaint. ???? The case number was paper copy I had but Why didn't you tell me that day one? We went back and forth and it ended with him sending me this message. I hired Mike on 04/23 for service and paid him $85 via CC ($65 for the serve and $20 to have the papers notarized. Mike advised he would make his first attempt the next day, on 04/24 and would provide me with an update by the end of the night. When I did not go back from him I followed up via email on 04/25 and he responded with an apology for not getting back to me sooner. He also advised that he was unable to serve the respondent as he came to find out the respondent no longer resided at that residence. He also advised he would return to the premises on 04/30 to see if he can obtain the respondent's current address. I told him that I would offer to pay him another fee if he was successful and if he had to travel to another location. I emailed him on 04/30 to confirm he was going back to hopefully find the new address. I heard back from him on 05/01 advising he had some sort of schedule conflict and was unable to visit the premises, but will go out there tomorrow on 05/02 between 10:00am-12:00pm. That was the last time I heard from him. I emailed him on 05/03 asking how he made out. No response. I emailed him on 05/06 assuming he was not able to go back out there and that I would need to adjourn my court case as I had to send in the notarized service papers by 05/09. I also asked him to refund me the $20 that I paid for the notary since he was unsuccessful. No response. I emailed him on 05/08 asking if he received my email and that I would appreciate if he responsed. No response. Today, 05/10, I texted him asking if he received my emails and what the status is of my $20 refund. No response. I do not appreciate the silence and lack of service. I believe in honesty and if Mike was unable or unwilling to provide what he advised he would, then I would have taken another route. Don't rely on the sheriffs/police to serve documents because they are useless. JUST CALL MICHAEL. Michael was very responsive (immediately picked up the phone when I called), fast turnaround (served the papers the following day on the first attempt, as promised), and he was also very knowledgeable about the legal processes/paperwork afterwards. For an extra small cost, he took the final paperwork to the courthouse for us. I didn't feel like I had to follow up with him or anything. All for a reasonable price and you don't have to do ANYTHING. It was the most relaxed I've ever felt throughout these difficult times. Mind you, before Michael, I had to call 4 different sheriffs departments because each department made me call another one. And finally, I got so fed up with their uselessness that I told the final department that I refuse to call ANOTHER department and I demanded SOMEBODY to do their job and serve my documents. And they finally gave me SOME answers, but at the end of the conversation, the police had the nerve to tell me that it could take up to a week for the initial serve AND I had to come in and fill out even more paperwork in person. I repeat, it takes the police 1 whole week for the first serve because they are too "backed up." And while I understand that they are busy, I shouldn't have to call 4 different police departments to get somebody to do their job and to protect people. Besides the fact that our tax money is completely wasted on these police officers to protect us, there are people like Michael that will get the job done for you.
