Maggie was amazing and so easy to work with for my big day! We had 3 stylists come in to work on my bridesmaids, MOB, and junior bridesmaid and they made the experience so fun and relaxing. I just moved to the area and was so happy to find MAK Salon. My hair was just cut and colored by Ashley and she did a fantastic job. I was WAY overdue and she brought my hair back to life. No more brassy tones, no more split ends, no more uneven layers. And on top of all of that, the staff helped me find hair products that don't have synthetic fragrance (I'm allergic). Now I can say goodbye to the terrible fragrance free products from the drug store that totally dried out my hair. Yay!! read more

I've actually never been to the spa itself BUT I have used their services for two girls weekends where the therapists traveled to our lake house rental. Michelle the manager is super nice and correspondence was done via email or phone. She helped workout a contract since we had 8 ladies that needed massage work. The therapists that we have worked with have been all very nice and effective - we were all super relaxed after our services. Great service and awesome to coordinate with... Definitely check them out especially if you're in the area for a Girls Weekend. read more

I got many services from MAK for my wedding recently- and they were all great! We did make-up, hair and nails. A very homey feel to the whole place and good tea! Maggie and her team are extremely professional and kind. Marissa did my hair and make-up trials and she did such a nice job of picking the right colors and styles for me. I'm not much of a make-up person anyways so I didn't give her much to go off of, but I was so pleased that she came up with a nice natural palette that still accented my features and made me feel done up in just the right way. My sisters and I got our nails (pedicures and manicures) a few days before the wedding and the space was perfect. There were three of us, and they had our appointments overlap and rotated us through. The nail room was the perfect spot to spend our morning and we could chat and not feel like we were interrupting other customers. Our nails ended up just how we wanted them and we really enjoyed the ladies who did them for us. Last, my bridal party and I all had our hair done off-site for the wedding. They were very accommodating with our unique space for the hair appointments and everyone loved how their hair turned out! We all selected pretty different styles and it was so nice to actually have them end up that way (I've had hair done from other places and we've all ended up with pretty much the same 'do despite not requesting that, so this was a relief). They were right on time, finished us up a few minutes early and were nice to have as a part of the big day. I'd recommend any of these services to others- and already have. read more

The staff was friendly and the spa was clean but the service did not meet my expectations. Two of us went in together for pedicures. My pedicure lasted 45 minutes but the other was completed in less than 30 minutes. Neither of us received much of a massage (the best part!) and we both felt the process was rushed. Booked for hair and make up for my wedding- As an out of town bride who used to work for a high end salon in the Chicago suburbs, having someone I trust for hair and make up was proving to be a little tricky. Mak was a TOTAL GEM! Everyone was so helpful and attentive through out the planning process. I went back and forth on if we would come into the salon or have them come to us. I also made odd requests about timing and having the bills split up a specific way- they were so easy going and accommodating! Made it very easy for a stressed out bride! Plus, the entire staff is so talented!! My grandma, who last minute booked a blow dry ended up getting a quick trim to adjust for a screwed up cut the week before. Let me tell you, she is the pickiest woman alive and 3 weeks later, she is still talking about how great her hair looked and still looks! Also, there is not even a word to describe how ecstatic I was with my hair and make up. I have never felt so beautiful or happy in my whole life! Last weekend Maggie and her amazing staff took on me and my bridal party for updos, nails, makeup, and massages! Everyone's hair turned out SO beautiful, our makeup was done to perfection (for those that had it done), and each of us can probably agree that the Shellac manicures were the best we'd ever gotten done! Overall I can't say anything but positive things about our entire experience. I felt so beautiful after the girls got ahold of me for a few hours! :) It made the start to my wedding day one to remember! Very poor results... had a consult to lighten my roots/grow-out, asked for someone who was good with blonde hair, at the time had my hair trimmed. Place seemed clean with friendly staff. Second appt. we discussed prior agreement of process for my desired end result. Stylist put product on my hair and then disappeared for a very long time...came back said hair was done, did not tell me it had melted!!!!!! A few days later I washed my hair and it was coming off in my hands by the hands full...melted gum!!! Contacted MAK immediately... they asked me to come in. Stylist was not there, management only, said they would work with me, owner did a Demi and tone and the entire time made excuses and tried to suggest it was something I did to my own hair. Poor Form!!! Own the problem...do not make it the clients issue. In the end I lost 8 INCHES of my hair...you decide...is a year and four months of growing your hair worth this salon? They tried to push me off and say they could not work with me...I paid for this, and they did not reimburse me. I have all of it in writing. Save your money, hair and self respect.
