However, what really struck me was how well all the employees got along with each other. You can tell they are good friends and care about the customer AND their coworkers. They were telling inside jokes and asking about what they did over the weekend, plus, they let you in! They explained the inside jokes to you and made you feel included in the questions like you are apart of the group! Clearly, this is a great work environment, which makes it a great experience for you. Usually when I get my hair done someplace new there is that awkward silence or a bombardment of small-talk questions. However, with Sam, the person styling my hair, it was never awkward. He kept the conversation going seamlessly and even when the hair dryer was going the talking breaks felt natural. He was so caring and enthusiastic it is impossible to be in a bad mood. Plus he was great at doing hair! Not only was it definitely in my top 5 hair washing experiences, my hair felt lighter and smoother upon leaving. Granted I always just get a trim, but the layers were perfect. Since I was there, I decided last minute I wanted to get my eyebrows done and I asked if it was possible. They were able to accommodate me no problem. Amanda did my eyebrows and they were perfect. I wouldn't normally spend $15 on eyebrows, but it was worth the money. They were neat with perfect shape. Just like Sam, Amanda was super nice and clearly enjoyed her job. The cost is probably a bit high for the area, but compared to Chicago prices it really isn't too much. Its a little far to go regularly, but if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come here.

Instead, I experienced ageism, misogyny, and a guy whose ego seems to know no bounds. If you are over 45, I suggest you don't even try this salon. Timothy rolls his eyes about his mother's "performance" when doing his laundry. Timothy does not care about his clients in equal measure. If you are over 65, you won't get a very warm welcome that lasts for very long. Do yourself a favor and skip this place!

Maggie and her team are extremely professional and kind. Marissa did my hair and make-up trials and she did such a nice job of picking the right colors and styles for me. I'm not much of a make-up person anyways so I didn't give her much to go off of, but I was so pleased that she came up with a nice natural palette that still accented my features and made me feel done up in just the right way. My sisters and I got our nails (pedicures and manicures) a few days before the wedding and the space was perfect. There were three of us, and they had our appointments overlap and rotated us through. The nail room was the perfect spot to spend our morning and we could chat and not feel like we were interrupting other customers. Our nails ended up just how we wanted them and we really enjoyed the ladies who did them for us. Last, my bridal party and I all had our hair done off-site for the wedding. They were very accommodating with our unique space for the hair appointments and everyone loved how their hair turned out! We all selected pretty different styles and it was so nice to actually have them end up that way (I've had hair done from other places and we've all ended up with pretty much the same 'do despite not requesting that, so this was a relief). They were right on time, finished us up a few minutes early and were nice to have as a part of the big day. I'd recommend any of these services to others- and already have.

I reached out in June (September wedding), completed the questionnaire on the website, received no response. That should have been my first red flag. However, I really liked the image the salon projected, so I called. I spoke with Alyse, who was very nice on the phone, she did tell me they have a busy wedding season, but ultimately said this was something they could do. That was the last good communication I had with her. After that, it would be intermittent emails every few weeks. They messed up the amount for the deposit- the pay link requested 2/3 of the cost instead of the 1/3 like she had told me. I didn't hear back from her when I asked about it. But because I wanted what they promised, I paid it. I wanted the pamper: the hair, the make up, the experience. Fast forward to the month before my wedding. We still had not secured a date for the hair/make up trial. She had not responded in 3 weeks. And any time Alyse responded to my emails it was, "thank you for your patience, we have been so busy", or "we checked with our other brides". I do understand being busy, however I do not need constant reminders. It made me feel like I was not a priority; at times even an inconvenience. This was not the experience I was hoping for. I cancelled the services, and I was given a full refund. That's the only positive thing I can say. The craziest part, I never received an apology or any acknowledgement of the poor service. Just a "thanks for letting us know". I left out some details for brevity, but overall...maybe good for someone who has a big party and books a year in advance. Not so good for the little/single parties. My advice to anyone considering this salon- do everything on the phone at the start to avoid the poor communication and stress that I experienced. Or find somewhere else. Luckily I have amazing friends who can help me prepare for my day, in a way this place never could.

I called The Parlor, without knowing anything about them, looking for a place to have my daughters,…read moremy sisters, and my hair done for my daughters wedding. All of us are from out of town and knew nothing about any salons in the area, so finding and going to a stylist that we didn't know was scary and stressful, but my first call to The Parlor made me feel at ease. Lauren (the owner) reassured me and made me feel comfortable. Not only did she make me feel comfortable with our hair plans, but was also a local person who knew many of the other venders that would be at my daughters wedding and spoke highly of them. We set up appointments for both a trial run and the day-of styling. The trial appointment went well and Lauren and Taylor were super friendly and easy to work with. They listened to what we were looking for and tried options until we were happy with the outcome. The only concern we had after the trial was that mine and my daughters hair didn't stay put for long, but we found that they can't use as much product for a trial so they can work with different styles. The hair for the actual wedding day was absolutely perfect and lasted all day/night long! I felt that Lauren and Taylor both did a great job making us feel welcome and giving us beautiful hair up-dos for the wedding.
