I needed a nail salon and my daughter told me to try by Martin's in Stevensville. I went in without an appointment, and it was getting close to Christmas and they were busy. They were honest about how long it might take and I didn't mind . They were so welcoming and fun, I didn't mind to sit around and laugh . Then I met Hailey, wow she was so sweet and did exactly what I asked for, she did a beautiful job with a nice massage on my hands because I told her I suffered from arthritis and that I hated how my hands looked at felt. She said "oh no, your hands are beautiful and they were at the end. One month later , I went in to get a new color and again, Hailey was amazing! They are fun nail salon and very talented. I went to this place with my step sister today. When the lady was doing my nails I looked down at them and 2 of my fingers were kinda red. I didn't suspect anything until just now when they started bleeding. And it would have been a coincidence if it was on the same hand but it was in different hands. I don't typically leave reviews, even in negative experiences, but I don't usually have businesses steal from me either. I have been going to B&E pretty consistently over the past year. I usually have pedicures but add on the occasional manicure/ acrylic manicure as well. Quality is not always perfect but I'm usually happy because it's way better than I can do and I enjoy the process, the staff, the atmosphere is comfortable and the pup is the best. After yesterday's manicure I felt very satisfied...until I was looking at my bank account today and saw the charge was not as I remembered. I was certain it was $48 because the charge was $40 (including added fee for a credit card) and I left 20% and was excited for my brain to have that easy calculation. My bank showed a $53 expense. Not being able to let go of the thought that they would do that, I stopped in and asked to see my receipt. Sure enough they had my signed copy with a $48 total including tip and saw the final posted (their records not mine) was $53. She made an excuse for the gentleman who "must have mixed up receipts when entering " and gave me my $5 back. Based on other reviews I am confident it was not an error and I will not be back. I will also let those several individuals I told should go here know that I know longer advise it. $5 is whatever to me but theft like that I can't get past. And it's not like I gave them a crap tip based on the total and the outcome. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

Every nail on my hand is crooked. The guy didn't even ask me about my length until he cut them all off. I didn't have time for him to remove all the tips and start again. Proceeded to charge me $50 for one single color polish, no designs. Multiple times during my appointment, the tech was getting up doing things, gossiping with the other worker for long periods of time while it was just myself and one other customer in the entire shop. I went in on Thursday eve to schedule nail appt for next day. I needed only reg. manicure, no shellac. The girl asked me 3 times if I wanted shellac and each time I replied "no regular manicure!" I went in for appt and picked out my polish. She called me to the chair and I told her to please trim up nails and cuticles. she dipped my one hand in the soapy water and hastily started to trimthe cuticles on that one hand, about a minute. Did the other as quickly, quickly filed and then proceeded to put clear base, 2 coats of polish on ... one right after the other. Walked me over to the drying station and applied clear top coat there! I wasn't in the chair 5 minutes and she didnt trim my nails. This is what my nails looked like even after I went back to get them fixed. She acted like I was crazy for wanting the bottom of my nails to be smoo, and for not wanting it all over my fingers. She kind of tried to fix it, but acted as if she saw no problems. Not to mention when I showed her the issue she said "it will come off when your wash your hands. You don't wash your hands?" I got them done yesterday, obviously I've at least washed my hand since then. I wish I could post a video to get the full spectrum of how they look. The picture hardly does it justice. B&E is not worth your time if you've never been or if they don't know/remember you from previous visits. Ben is the owner with his wife Tiffany. They treat their regulars like gold, but if you are a walk-in, forget it. Depending on the mood and the amount of people waiting, that's what the outcome of your nails will be. Tiffany always does great, I never have complaints when she does my nails. This week I went in for the acrylic dip, and Ben raced through my appointment and the end result is garbage. He filed the final coat with a very coarse file leaving little marks in the dip, and then the top two gel UV coats have bubbles in them. He didn't trim back cuticles or anything else when he was done. I do not recommend this place if you want something quality and not rushed, done. It's total luck of the draw who your technician will be and what the end result is. I won't be going back and wasting my time and money there anymore. read more

Walked in and decided to get a full set, the owner did my nails and rushed though it. For a full set, I was done within ten minutes. All of my nails are uneven and after asking to fix them he started filing away without even looking and at that point I realized he just didn't even care. On top of that, the sign says that it is $25 for a full set. I sat down and asked for coffin shaped nails, he cut them, and after cutting them told me it would be $5 extra dollars for the coffin shape which makes no sense. I wound up paying $35 in total for a botch job on my nails that I am going to attempt to file down later and fix by myself. My friends also came with me and had a poor experience as well. They got regular manicures that lasted under ten minutes. Their nails have open spots with no polish on the sides. DO NOT GO HERE if you want nice nails. Went to B&E nails over two years ago and got an infection in a toe. Thought I would give them a second chance and went last week for a pedicure. They are rude and unprofessional. The technician was on the phone for 80% of the time she was giving me a pedi. Afterwards she said to go to the area where you dry your nails. She didn't turn on the machine and I had to ask how to turn it on. The salon is not clean and I would definitely not recommend them. They will not get a third chance from me. read more

Got my nails done here for the first time before I left for my destination wedding. First time I've gotten my nails done in SW MI since I moved here over a year ago. I got a shellac manicure & shellac pedicure from a really nice guy (short term-type of employment situation, I found out), but I should've asked for an employee who had been employed there longer. I don't get my nails done often, but I know that nail prep is EVERYTHING when it comes to a long lasting mani/pedi. My both big toes shellac (the last thing I thought I'd have to worry about-- I've had regular nail polish last on a pedi for weeks!) polish majorly peeled/chipped 4 days after my appointment, which was 2 days from my big day! I had a bridesmaid luckily pack white nail polish with her & she tried her best to touch up my toes. Very disappointed, I've never had issues with a pedicure lasting. i went in earlier today to get a set of acrylics. i get sat down with, who i'm assuming, is one of the owners. instantly it feels like it's a race to see how fast he can apply my nails. he kept wiping his nose with his t-shirt and then putting those same hands back on mine without washing his hands. i'm not kidding when i say my right hand had snot all over it. he was also continuously clearing his throat and sniffling his nose, again I'm going to assume, but it was almost like post nasal drip kind of thing. also, i have never seen any of them wash their hands in the countless times that i have been in there. which is gross considering that they are going from working on peoples toes to working on someone else's fingers. every time i've gotten my nails done, there is a sloppy mess that i have to pick off of my fingers. i keep trying to give this place another try... wont be returning. read more

Plus , the polish did not even last 24 hours before entire pieces were peeling off. By 48 hours it was such a complete mess that I had to remove all of it. Horrible.. it was my first time at this salon & they were not welcoming or friendly. they were rushing everything and two of the women were specifically rude. Their AC was out and it was also like 90 degrees inside. My pedi bath was cold but that was fine I guess bc it was so HOT otherwise. I took my daughter for her very first mani & pedi experience.. I wanted it to be memorable! They didn't talk to her at all, and then just yanked her hands and painted them only, WHILE she was in the pedi chair. I expected us to get manicures TOGETHER! So I just skipped getting one so my daughter didn't have to wait alone for me. This was reserved a week in advance, and they definitely didn't check any books or follow any schedule what so ever. There are definitely a limited amount of nail salons in the St Joe/Stevensville area and B&E Nails take advantage of that. I went on a Friday morning for a Powder Dip Manicure. There were 3 workers working on people already and one person that looked like she was waiting for a Pedicure. I was sat down and someone set up my nails to soak in and take my previous Dip off. I was sitting there for about 15-20 minutes, not because it takes that long, but because there was no one available to work on me yet. Once they were able to get through a few people (after they told some walk ins to come back later) the process was quite good! The lady knew what she was doing, did it quick, and did it well. While there were a few hard edges on my nail, I just fixed them at home with a nail file. Nothing major. The prices, for it being in a small town in Michigan, I feel are way too high for that area. I paid $40 for the Powder Dip, something I can get for $30-$35 in Chicago so I was a bit disappointed in that. Gel/Shellac Manicures are $30. My nails do look good tho! After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to go here. But I spoke w two local women to get their recommendation on a nail salon & both recommended B&E. So I went. This is a typical strip mall salon. Dated decor, worn seating area, dirty baseboards. Asian music in the background. Lots of activity I was told they were short handed two people because of vacation (the owners). I had two different people for my services. Vivian was quiet, quick but thorough (pedi). Nita did my dip nails. She seemed to be the lead in the owners absence. She was very fast! But didn't seem to cut corners. She used the light to dry my nails (which my normal place doesn't). She didn't like my color (it was lighter than what we thought it was) so she brought another one that was more what I wanted. A few of the women talked on their phone while doing their work which I don't care for but it wasn't loud or obnoxious. .They do take reservations and will repair your nails if they chip in a couple of days. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I had a 4:00 appointment today, it was my first time there, and they yelled out 4 o clock! I got up and they motioned for another woman to get up also. She explained that I had the appointment and she was a walk in. They didn't understand a thing. We both sat down side by side. Now it's 4:30 and the walk in customer is done with her pedicure and my feet are still in the water waiting to get started. I then told a guy that I thought was the manager that I had a 4:00 appointment. She coming she coming. I)pam all about older people working. I'm one of them. But this woman was elderly, and, giving people pedicures is a very taxingob. My toe nails were cut so short that as she filed, I was in a lot of pain. I can't believe they weren't bleeding. I am finally done with my pedicure at 5:15 for a 4:00 appointment. My nails look like crap.They charged me $30 plus I added a $7 tip. I get the shop copy for me to sign and it's now $38! I know they heard me talking on the phone with my sister about padding the receipt. I have a loud voice. Then, a woman nail person came up to me and said that extra dollar was because I used my debit card. They have signs all over the place regarding masks, if you're sick, don't come in, pushing a seaweed gel for five more dollars, etc. There isn't a sign anywhere that says if you use a credit or debit card, it cost another dollar. That would be just good business but this place hasn't a clue When I handed him my debit card, never was it mentioned that it would be a dollar more. These people only know numbers and the word "dollar". If you told them their business was on fire, they would smile, nod their heads and say she coming she coming! I wanted to get my nails done while I was in town visiting my daughter, but this was not the place to go. My technician was not interested in making any conversation or in smiling. I felt I was taking away from whatever else she may have had planned for the day. This was only the 5th manicure I have had in my 63 years and have always considered it a treat. This was not a treat! I have given this places too many tries to try and impress me. This last time ruined it. I got my shellac nails done on a Thursday afternoon and by Saturday I had half of a nail peeling off. They're not open on Sundays so I had to wait until today to get them repaired; well I'm not going a day, looking dumb with one nail missing. So I peeled them all off. Mind you, they came off super easily. Bad product. Two other reasons why it's a one star- 1- He was texting the entire appointment. Don't think he said one word. 2- The kids are running around and screaming during your appointment. Don't go here. Unprofessional, bad service, bad product. If you go to these kind of places fairly regularly, you will be okay with it. It is not a salon, but you aren't paying salon prices either. There are five large chairs and one kid size. Large space ... four tech (two guys, one of guys' wife, and the mom). Adorable family with family portraits along walls. We went for a day with nieces and sisters in laws and made appts for all of us to have mani-pedi. They were able to accommodate all of us in a decent amt of time and we had the place to ourselves on a Wed afternoon. read more

The pro of B and E is that it is cleaner than some of the other places in the area. I stopped in for a pedicure and the chairs were nice, but the tech rushed though it, talking on the phone and generally just ignoring me. Just went in for shellac and the color choices are such a mess it's hard to find one and the owner was super frustrated with me taking my time, finally found one I liked and the brush was broken so I had to choose another So I ended up not being happy with the color after all. He was very rushed and it was done messy, I asked him to fix them and he just continued. The rest of the staff was on their phones the whole time and people were frustrated along with watches cartoons because there are children there.
