I have been going to Nikki at Hairitics since 2020 and I cannot recommend a more chill and up front place to get a haircut in Logan Square. If you're a dude and don't want to go a hyper-masculine barber shop where they will talk trash and pretend it's the 50's this spot is worth checking out. The prices are fair and I've always gotten great haircuts here (short and long haircuts). The best part is that, not only do I get good haircuts but also info on how to take care of my hair properly too ( when I grew out my hair Nikki suggested different dandruff shampoos, good types of hair ties, long hair maintenance, etc). That is something you won't get at other places. Overall, I love Hairitics and will keep going there because they run a great business and do phenomenal work.

I'm currently 31…read moreand often joke that it took me about 25 years to really know how to embrace my curls and that is 100% due to her help! Jealissa cuts and colors my hair in a way that brought them to life and has made them easy to manage. Most importantly she has taught me how to style my curls (or straighten them) on my own. I didn't realize before going to her how important it is to find someone who is willing to help you figure this out. One reason I really give both Jealissa and Jen credit is they help their clients maintain their hair in a manageable way. When mine grows out and is overdue for a cut (#QuarantineLife) you cannot tell. The color fades nicely as well. I honestly don't know how she does it! She is also mindful about the maintenance as it relates to expenses. I don't get a full cut, color, highlight, & gloss every time. We assess as needed which has undoubtedly saved me so much $$ over the years. I recommend her to everyone I know and a few friends have since started going to her too. We sometimes schedule our apts back to back and pop champagne with Jealissa in Jen in their GORGEOUS studio. It makes for such a fun "treat yo self" type day. It's also worth noting that I have very thick, curly hair. My best friend who goes to Jealissa has very thin, straight hair. She has helped us both navigate these differences with product and styling tips over the years. (I've included some pictures of us.) I know both girls at JWADE studio have a talent to help anyone feel confident and happy with their hair. Lastly, I attended 10 weddings in 2019. Almost all were outside Chicago but Jealissa was so helpful in teaching me simple styles I could do on my own. When my BFF got married last November she kindly helped us pin up the bride-to-be's hair at our back-to-back apts. This helped me successfully pin her hair up at her wedding reception with no hiccups. If you need a new stylist you will not be disappointed!

My previous stylist had taken me much blonder than I was expecting, perhaps due to a miscommunication, and while the work itself was beautiful, I just didn't feel like myself. I am truly a brunette at heart and really just wanted to feel like me again, with a little dimension! Kaylan was able to get me in SUPER last minute with Jackie, who I now owe everything to. From the second I sat in her chair, Jackie took the time to consult with me, really listened to exactly what I wanted, and somehow made absolute magic happen. I may have only been blonde for about 36 hours, but I genuinely didn't feel confident or like myself during that time. Jackie immediately brought that confidence back. I am BEYOND obsessed with my hair. It is everything I dreamed of, if not better, and I finally feel like myself again. Thank you doesn't even feel strong enough for Jackie, Kaylan, and the entire Golden Era team. I will be recommending them to absolutely everyone -- and bonus points that they're right in my neighborhood! I officially found my salon.

I don't normally do reviews but this was terrible! It was my second time at Golden Era with Jackie,…read moreand unfortunately, I would not recommend this salon based on my experience. The first time I came in, we did a blonde balayage. Jackie explained that my hair couldn't go extremely blonde right away without causing damage, but that we could gradually get it lighter over time. I understood that and was completely fine with going blonde little by little. About a month and a half later, I returned for a root touch-up and asked Jackie if I needed a toner because my hair had started looking yellow. I specifically wanted to maintain the blonde we had been working toward. Instead, my hair was toned significantly darker, to the point where the toner covered almost all of the balayage that had been done previously. I was left with hair that looked darker than when I started. What is especially frustrating is that I was told we would gradually work toward a blonder result, so I don't understand why such a dark toner was used in the first place. The appointment also felt rushed because Jackie had to leave. Four days later, after realizing I was still very unhappy with the result, I reached out to explain how dark my hair was and asked if there was anything that could be done to fix it. I was extremely upset by this experience, not only because my hair was left much darker than what we had discussed, but because of how the situation was handled afterward. I reached out because I genuinely wanted to see if there was a way to fix it. Rather than communicating with me or trying to find a solution, I was essentially told, "too bad, find someone else." That was incredibly disappointing and, in my opinion, very unprofessional. I paid over $540 for my first appointment and over $240 for the second, so having to now spend additional time and money at another salon to correct the color is extremely frustrating. This entire experience was a complete waste of my time and money. I would not recommend Golden Era or Jackie.
