I first used Maison De Couture a few years ago for a dress alteration. We recently moved very close and went back when my husband needed a pair of pants altered for a wedding. Both experiences were solid! We came in without an appointment and were seen right away. The owner worked quickly to measure the pants and said we could pick them up that same week. I dropped off a selection of 7 of my husbands' button-down and Hawaiian shirts for cleaning and received the items 7 days later. The items were returned in perfect, starched condition, however I would have expected items such as these to be returned in a more timely manner. Both dresses were finished terribly, the material of the dresses now pulls awkwardly because of the poor job this place did and the neckline of each dress no longer sits correctly and looks awful now. YESSSS, my alterations prayers have been answered! Maison De Couture was recommended by a relative who has been living in Miami for some time, and has been coming here for 20+ years. If you've read any of my other reviews you know that I have The Worst luck when it comes to finding places in Miami that are trustworthy and where the people speak English. Most recently I had taken a pair of pants to another alterations/dry cleaning establishment and they "lost" my pants (they were later found, but not the point). The experience with Bertha at Maison De Couture was the exact opposite, and I will be coming here now for all of my alterations needs. She was efficient, professional, spoke perfect English, and charged a reasonable amount of money for the work. There is plenty of free parking out front. When I argued this price with her, she said that she always provides an estimate on the ticket. However I provided her with my ticket and there was no price. She wouldn't budge, and this was grossly overpriced. I will never return, and I do not recommend anyone here unless you want to pay an arm and a leg. My experience with this place was nothing but pleasurable. First of all...I was out of town.and in need of immediate alteration to my dress pants. I did a Google search and found all of these places. I called one place and asking g if they could fix my pants by the next day. They person I spoke with said that it would maybe be at least 3 days before they even have a look at my pants. I was discouraged after hearing this thinking that I would need to figure out my.pa take on my own. However something made me check out one more place and it was Maison De Couture. I place a phone call to this place and I'm greated by the pleasant voice of a women. I present my dilemma to her and ask if she could meet the demand of having the pants done by the next morning (it was after 5 pm at this point). She said they could do it. I bring the pants in and am promptly assisted. They measure off where the pants should be adjusted and I'm out of there in under 10 minutes. Pick up my pants the next day and the job was great! I was happy that I was able to have my pants back in time to make my event but what I appreciate even more was how pleasant, personable and understanding the owner was. I off course didn't show good manners by not getting her name...but I cannot express how pleased I was with the service that Maison De Couture provided. I definitely would recommend this place if you find yourself in bind...needing alterations done to your clothes. 5 stars easily!!! read more

Maison De Couture handled my clothing expertly and I had a lot of odd requests which included: -Take a one off size XL tshirt and scale it down to a size small as a gift. (Let me explain how I found Maison De Couture: I called three or four other places first and none of them were willing to do this for me. I was running out of time and Maison De Couture was the first to say yes). -Take out the waist (sad face) and shorten (sad face again) a Missoni romper replacing original stitching design. -Replace the zipper of a complicated dress. -Standard jacket alterations/hemming/etc. Everything came out perfectly. The lady at the front was gracious and accommodating. Though I've only been there once, I had a great experience and I wanted to write what I could to say thanks. I'm very picky about my clothing, tailoring and fit in general and also laundering and dry cleaning in particular, so I always get a little nervous trying out a new place. The completely ruined a new leather skirt still with the tags on, and Berta (the owner) treated me like I was crazy. The skirt was a very expensive one, and all they needed to do was make it a little shorter. They cut to much, making too short and uneven. The front was longer than the back. For starters, my husband is extremely particular with the way his clothes fits him. He has takes Betha the most difficult, expensive pieces of clothes where only Bertha can be trusted. He has an athletic build, broad shoulders and narrow waist. He had Bertha take in a leather jacket which can be extremely intricate and delicate to work on. It came out absolutely perfect. For our wedding day, I bought my gown off the rack and brought it to Bertha to ensure it fit me perfectly. Over 20 layers of tulle were carefully cut through by her team. What a dissapointment! as this outfit was highly recommended. They may know what they are doing however, they took a month for an alteration that was promised to be done in one weeks time. I was never called to be told that it would not be ready and everytime I went to pick up the garment, the owner Bertha was indifferent and made up excuses. I decided to give them another try (big mistake)and they did not fix dress correctly. I took it back and the owner did not take ownership for the incomplete and inadequate work.
