Fantastic food! This is such a gorgeous spot and we are lucky Merced is attracting more and more variety. Had the bucket of chicken (Nashville) and the chicken was juicy and flavorful- made us wish that there was more breading. This place is absolutely amazing. I'm actually quite surprised there is a place like this in Merced. The food was different than anything else in town but it was so delicious. The atmosphere is noisy as it's a bar and game place/theatre, but it's a lot of fun to rent a game out will you wait for food. We went earlier in the evening so it wasn't quite busy yet, but reserving a table might be a good idea for when it does get busier (and for their brunch as I hear that gets pretty busy). The staff was incredibly friendly and our waitress (Kayleigh) was very attentive. Definitely will be returning! read more

All the hype and is was somewhat disappointing...the fries were soggy and probably sat a while...like they were cooked and held...the burger and chicken nuggets were cooked well...we requested no cheese but they put it on anyway...and no "sauce" on the bun...maybe cuz it was Wednesday or it was getting ready to close...freshly cooked food should be served hot not soggy...sorry but not sorry...p.s. i can make ranch with sour cream, dill and mayonnaise and buttermilk...try putting fresh ingredients in the dressing...it's worth the effort... read more

I ordered the Bruele French toast. I took one bite and all I tasted was charcoal. I am hardly ever one to send stuff back but this was gross. Instead of just cooking my order correctly the Sous Chef came out to explain that it was cooked to perfection. I tried to explain that it could not possibly be because it tasted like charcoal. She, Marina Kimbro cut me off and asked if I wanted her to explain what the French toast should be like, she wasn't trying to make me upset. Very rude. I am positive the french toast should not taste like Charcol. When I finally got the new order she brought it out. This one was not burnt. When I tried to apologize to her for the perception of me being upset with her she said "that's on you if you feel that way not me" uhmm yes it is you, your the one who tried to call me out. The replacement French toast I got was cooked much better, without being burnt on both sides. I am not a clueless bumpkin. I KNOW WHAT Bruele is and what it should taste like. If charcol taste is perfectly cooked you need a refresher course. Not coming back to the Mainzer soon because of this negative experience. read more

Great decor and food presentation. The interior design is modern. The food was tasty.. tacos and burgers are definitely gourmet. I have to give a low rating on the service. We stopped by for a quick dinner with a visiting family member (party of 5) and stayed there 2.5 hours. 20 mins of it just to eat as the rest was spent waiting in food. We were not able to show our guest to the other local spots after dinner because of the long wait. This was a Tuesday night which is usually slower for restaurants. Waiting time was excessively long. I don't mind spending so long as the service and food is good but the service fell very short for the price. Would recommend to go to another place if you are expecting prompt walk-in service or to make reservations ahead of time. read more

Food was ok but what was the worst part is I tried every single craft beer they had and found 3 out of all them had tiny fruit flies in it, when we brought attention to the issue it was then discussed with the management whom didn't seem to care much and just removed the charge for the 3 drinks off the bill. They didn't bother to shut the tap off to avoid further customers being exposed to this issue or didn't bother to look into the matter any further. The first time we went here I would have definitely given them five stars. And I was very excited to go the second time. It was the first time me and my husband had a day off together and like I said the first time was a very pleasant experience. After our waitress took our drink order we asked if we could have a straw for his iced tea. We were told that they ran out, however after the table next to us had been seated everyone at that table were given straws. When our food came the waitress quickly put our plates down in front of us and took off. There was no silverware on our table and she did not bring any with the food. We were in the theater area so maybe they didn't come out there as often? We finally flagged down a server, she wasn't the original server that was helping us. We asked her if she could please bring us some silverware and she said she would be right back. She never returned. After some more time we finally saw our original server and flagged her down. She asked if everything was okay and didn't notice that we hadn't touched anything and we didn't have silverware. We asked for silverware and she said she would be right back. After some more time she finally returned with silverware and asked if she could get us anything else. Mind you we still hadn't been able to touch our food because she just brought our utensils. By that time our food was cold and not very tasty at that temperature. I had ordered a peach mimosa to go with my meal and the size was impressive however it tasted nothing like Peach, which is fine if I hadn't ordered that flavor. And yes, after not receiving silverware in a timely manner all the little things started to bother me. She came back to collect our dishes and leave the check. When she returned the book that holds your credit card or cash was still sitting on the table and she asked us "did I run your card yet? I'm sorry we're swamped." I'm not originally from Merced so I don't know what constitutes swamped but as the we left very disappointed and walked through the Mainzer there were literally only three tables of patrons. We were disappointed and more than upset because we had raved about our first experience at this restaurant. I'm sure that the food would have been just as good the second time if the service had been much better. I hope that that's all it was. It's all also very disappointing because there's not a lot of options for Merced and I was hoping for the best read more

The food alone, worthy of a 4.5 - 5 star review, but the service really brings the experience down. I've been several times to the Mainzer for brunch, and we always joke that there's something off about the service each time, but this last was just unacceptable. Upon checking in, we were told that they brought people to sit inside before moving outside, which didn't make sense for us because we had our two dogs. Also just odd to push that people sit inside because some may still not feel comfortable with indoor seating due to Covid. Then, after letting us sit outside, it took almost 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge our group, but they didn't bring menus. After waiting to see if they would return, one of our party members went inside to ask for the menus and when finally brought to us, the staff member reluctantly took our drink order of 5 waters. At about 40 minutes of waiting total, we were still waiting on drinks and nobody had come to ask for our order, meanwhile, the group behind us, who got there about 30 minutes after us, had two servers speaking with the group and was getting their drinks delivered already. In previous experiences, we also had long wait times, food was brought out before silverware, we had to ask several times for the correct amount of silverware to be brought out, and nobody asked if we would like more to drink or when they did, they wouldn't get them out until we were nearly leaving. This last time though, we actually got up and left without placing an order. read more

First visit here to the Mainzer and we were very pleased! What a great restaurant for Merced. Love the ambiance of the place. And was very happy for some entertainment for the kids in the game room while we waited for our food. We came on a Monday night, so didn't get to experience the back theater room since it was closed. Made reservations online and was quickly seated when arrived. Loved the beer tasting area which helped me find my selection. Food was delicious. I had the cheeseburger and side salad. Fries and chicken tenders were a hit with my kids. We also ordered the flatbread pizza for the kids and I must admit, the sauce was alittle more like a BBQ rather than marinara. Alittle bit of a kick and not quite "kid friendly". Also, ordered the Strawberry milkshake for my 6 year old. To be honest she was not a fan, it had a kick to it, after talking with the server sounds like the powder in the strawberry shake gives it the extra spice to it. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff was very accommodating. You normally don't offer ice cream on your menu, but you were able to give a scoop of ice cream over a chocolate chip cookie to help us celebrate.
