Shrimp Fried Spare Ribs

Worst Chinese food I had in a while. The rice was soft and smooshed together the spare ribs were not cook all the way thru. Paying regular prices but not good quality meal.

a dirty plate of food

The WORST Chinese food experience I've ever had. My friend ordered chicken and broccoli and I ordered Vegetable Lo Mein. They assumed we wanted the lo mein as a side and put it all in one container. Minor inconvenience. I scooped the lo mein into a bowl and sat down to eat. In one of my last bites, I felt something crunchy in my mouth. I spit out my food only to find a STAPLE in my lo mein. The restaurant is giving me a refund but this is inexcusable. This was my first experience here and I certainly will not be returning.

Ma Po Tofu extra spicy ala Fujianese. Very good, they nailed the extra spicy!

Dropped by to check Main Wah Kitchen out based on a yelp friend's review and I was not disappointed, from the wonton soup to the Ma PO Tofu everything was clearly executed extremely well. What I found interesting was the unusually distinct yet subtle flavor differences in the wontons and the MPT. The Tofu dish was not the traditional Chengdu original but a Fujian take off which was hot, spicy and very tasty. Overall my experience was very good so good in fact it warrants another trip to Main Wah when I am in the area.

I have frequented this place a number of times. The ambiance feels like a relaxed authentic Mexican…read morerestaurant. They have a large menu with reasonable prices. I have tried burritos, tacos, and taco salads which have all been delicious and filling. The ingredients are fresh and the food is made to order. They also sell their own packaged bottles of habanero hot sauce that is very spicy and I add to all of my food. The meals come with chips and salsa. The parking lot can be hectic when its busy and it can be tough to find a parking spot but it is worth it.

Got some takeout last night from Three amigos and cannot complain. My friend and I tried a little…read morebit of everything and the prices were so reasonable. We had the birria tacos, beef tacos, Al pastor tacos, the queso and chips and churros. All of the meals came with a little portion of salsa too which was perfect I will say the queso did not seem like it came from the restaurant, but instead like a velvety. Still enjoyable. The tacos were pretty cold when they arrived, but I don't fault the restaurant and the beef tacos were supposed to be crunchy, but again everything tasted perfect. The highlight of this order was for sure the churros. They were so delicious. Not warm at all but so so good. My friend who doesn't like churros and thinks they're dry, absolutely loved these because of the filling and the chewiness. Divine. I would come back just for those. And next time, I would eat in the restaurant itself as the delivery made everything a tad less fulfilling. All in all, I will be back. Thank you Three Amigos!!!

Going to Shady Glen is a bit like stepping back in time. It's that 'old timey' ice cream parlor,…read morefrom the decor to the servers (outfits), to the food. Nostalgia. Memories. A stop on the way back to UCONN when I was a student there. The "go to" place after our kids' school events. Shortly after we moved to Manchester, over 38 years ago, the restaurant was closed for renovations. We were looking forward to seeing the revamped restaurant. Well, we were even more surprised when we stepped in the door - nothing had changed! Cleaner, perhaps new Naugahyde on the seats, but that mural on the wall was the same - those elves were timeless. When you sit down, you get a small paper cup of water. The menus are on the the wall - soups, sandwiches & ice cream. I'd always heard they had a patent on the way their cheeseburgers were made - a burger topped with crispy cheese. A must have. Prior to Covid, the condiments tray had ketchup, mustard & chopped onions. Now, there are packets of the condiments. No onions though. We shared an order of fries - crispy & good. I was too full to have ice cream after our meal, so we brought a half gallon (yes - a real half gallon) of our favorite flavor home - chocolate almond joy. Yum! Note - you need cash. No cards. There is an ATM in the restaurant.

Since it's a popular choice, expect crowds til late afternoon for lunch. I didn't notice their breakfast menu among those posted on the walls, but apparently it is served til 11am. As for lunch, the cole slaw is surprisingly superior to most if not all other diners/cafes. Though prices have increased with inflation, still a great value and more competitive than many other comparable places in the state. Furthermore, the consistent taste and nostalgic ambiance are all still intact. Main offerings are between-bread - i.e., sandwiches, so limited options if you have dietary restrictions like having to eat gluten-free (soups contain gluten; I didn't ask if any of the platters could be made GF though), but their iconic fried cheese is still available as an a la carte side. Ice cream flavors include seasonal highlights like pumpkin chocolate chip, and their shakes are generous and delicious. I recommend asking what additional flavors they have available that are not listed on the wall menu. If there are kids in your party, be sure to look out for the table placard with the Children's Menu; the kids in our group enjoyed the chicken platter which included fries, a drink, and 2 substantial breaded chicken fillets.
