Was disappointed when what I was served was a spinach salad with a hard boiled egg and bacon crumbles; didn't quite match the menu description and reminded me more of a lunch dish. Found it a bit odd that I was charged $.75 for a cup of water. If I had known that I would have walked back over to get my water bottle from my car. Nice little lunch spot with a friendly staff and quite a few options. I tried the Greek chicken pita sandwich and it was quite tasty. Sometimes hot sandwiches make the chicken rubbery and I didn't experience that at all here. The "side" choices are fun: hummus + carrot, apples with caramel sauce or sun chips. It's nothing fancy, but tasted good--especially for a small town joint, and glad to find an independent place to patronize. Saw a lady walking out with a fancy coffee/ shake/ whipped cream/ drizzly sauces concoction that looked amazing. Fun sitting at the front window watching the Kokomo world wander by. read more

Veggie Hummus wrap had great flavors! Great atmosphere. Plenty of street parking. They had sea salt on the tables which was great. Only wish I could have gotten grilled mushrooms in the wrap. read more

I stumbled upon this place by pure accident on a cold Tuesday morning in December. I was taking care of some business downtown and happened to see this cafe across the street. The outside looked exactly like somewhere I would enjoy, so I stopped in for a coffee and some breakfast. Oh my goodness! The charm of this place was off the charts. My wife and I just relocated to Kokomo from a bigger city in Indiana due to some unforeseen circumstances, and finding a small local breakfast/lunch spot like this is a perfect reminder of the places we used to frequent, and dearly miss. The fact that such a wonderful little locally ran restaurant is around and surviving really speaks to the character of Kokomo that I think is hidden from peoples general perception. Being in the cafe makes me smile a little and feel like I'm somewhere I can truly come home. Is there a better feeling? Is there greater praise I can offer? I don't think there is. I've found our little corner of Kokomo. I can't wait to be back regularly. P.S. My latté and bagel sandwich were insanely delicious. We walked out. We were traveling through Kokomo and like to eat at local restaurants and saw the 4 star rating and thought we'd give it a try. It was 2:30 and only 2 tables were filled. The rest were all dirty but we sat at one figuring they would clean it when they came to take our order. No one ever greeted us or made any attempt to acknowledge our presence even though two people were behind the counter making sandwiches and saw us sitting there. About 10 minutes later 2 women walked up to the counter and the workers went right over and greeted them and took their coffee order. We got up and left and one of them said "have a nice day" as we walked out. All I can think of is that it was a counter order place but nowhere was there a menu or instructions saying as much. We struggled to find something to suit our taste, but to our surprise stumbled upon this seemingly delightful cafe on Yelp. First off, let me tell you, its truly just as delightful in person. It's an old bank turned cafe. The customer service is on point. The owner was incredibly welcoming and seemed to take great interest in getting to know her customers. I ordered a Veggie Wrap, Tomato Basil Soup and a Frozen Chai. All fresh and full of flavor! Seriously, pop-in for a bite to eat and I promise you won't be disappointed! P.S. Main Street Café is a great little lunch spot just off the main square in Kokomo. The menu has the classic café offerings - soup, sandwiches and salads, with the option for combining two (soup and salad, salad and sandwich). They have a lovely espresso machine and a limited variety of hot tea as well. The food was good - the one thing i would recommend for improvement is switching from plastic plates and silverware to real silverware and plates. read more

Was visiting town during a business trip and checked this place out per some locals' recommendation, and I am so glad I did! It was absolutely delicious and I got a free (super large) drink for checking in on yelp. Classic soup and salad place. It did smell a bit like smoke while I was in there, perhaps something was burning in the kitchen but it did give me a headache. Great little place to grab a coffee or lunch! The staff is always pleasant and the owner is often there friendly and talking with customers. From basic coffee to lattes to blended drinks to Italian sodas, pick your favorite. I often stop by if I happen to be in the area and have time to grab their coffee of the day -which is often a flavored coffee... It's always been ready to go, hot and fresh. We have also stopped a couple of times at lunch time as well and their soups are always good as well... And gluten free! The black bean soup is loaded with beans and flavorful. My husband is looking forward to trying the nitro coffee when they start that back up soon with the warmer weather. I only wish they were open later into the evenings as sometimes we are on our way through town and it would be great to be able to grab a coffee as we are passing through. read more

We stopped in Main Street Cafe for a business lunch between two meetings. I always prefer to eat local, especially in downtown commercial districts, whenever possible. At first, I was taken aback by the great options available on the menu. There was too much to choose from! Finally, I settled on a Nutella/peanut butter/banana panini with a half salad. We arrived right before the lunch rush, this place gets very busy during lunch! However, our order came out promptly and was just as delicious as described on the menu. I was impressed by the staff, all very cheerful and made a point to follow up and asked us what we thought of our meal. The tables seemed a little crunched in, but I could see the need when the place was packed for lunch. I liked the little touches - free wifi with the password on a visible board, recycling available, and great windows looking out into downtown. I'd definitely stop in again the next time I'm in Kokomo! read more

What a find! I've eaten here twice in the last three weeks, and I was very happy with the food quality and value both times. On my first visit, I had the cranberry-apple salad; it was very tasty. The second time, I chose the Asian chicken salad,; it was fabulous! The grilled chicken on the salad was quite a generous portion, and it was tender and well-seasoned. Both times, the lettuce was exceptionally fresh. The place has a good vibe too. Everyone is friendly and relaxed--even during the lunch slam. Many of the customers are obviously regulars--and I can certainly see why! If I lived or worked in Kokomo, I would become a regular customer as well. read more

My favorite little coffee shop in Kokomo. They don't just have coffee, however. They have really good sandwiches and salads and the soups are always changing and all delicious. Favorite sandwich is surprisingly the Cuban. They also have really good homemade cold brew coffee that I get year round. Owner and staff are awesome. read more

A nice quaint place to enjoy lunch with a pleasant downtown location. I had the turkey and goat cheese panini and it was so so. The turkey had a little of the texture and taste of cheap meat. It wasn't over the top slimy, but the quality was a little less than what I would have expected. The broccoli cheese soup was okay, but again my expectations were higher than what I received. They really do have some great food items, but more than once I've been disappointed with their beverages. The first time I had a problem, I very clearly asked two different employees prior to ordering if the iced green tea had sugar and was told no. For a diabetic it is a big, big deal to be handed 16 oz of simple syrup mixed with some tea. When I tried to return the 16oz iced green tea that I had paid $3-something for, the girl gave me the same sized Unsweet regular tea that normally costs half. Earlier this week, I asked for a iced coffee with nothing but sugar-free vanilla. It was so sweet, I just gave up and threw it away. I'm pretty much done even trying with them. Went here for lunch one day. They were pretty busy, so I had a bit of a wait, but seeming as the food is not just nuked or fried straight from the freezer (i.e., they use real ingredients), I was fine with it. You can sit outdoors and eat if you'd like. They had a few vegetarian options... I had some sort of awesome grilled cheese sandwich. I liked that they had hummus for a side. A friend and I stopped here for coffee one weekday morning. I ordered the hot chocolate with espresso, and it tasted burnt. :( My friend said her cappuccino was just ok. this lovely café would have gotten four stars before today. despite the undercooked cupcake i had my first time here, which was actually raw in the middle and bottom, very sour and salty in that bottom third, i have loved every other aspect of my experiences here. the coffee selection is quite nice, though i wish i had never had the blueberry crumb cake flavor; it was so underwhelming i wondered why the cashier had said it was her favorite. this morning i caught the woman ahead of me sampling the coffee of the day. i recommend that. the owner is wonderfully friendly and the staff are fabulous too. the smoothies are just as lovely, though i caught one of the girls with a huge container of smoothie powder. i had thought they just mastered the smoothie like my old workplace, a café in d.c. these are definitely not your gross, nasty, separated frappucinos, and if you need homemade whipped cream, they have it! what confused me was that the large was clearly marked on my receipt on my first try, and it cost $3.95; the second and third were also marked large but at $5.25, which is the price on the menu, but not the price i expected after the first smoothie. the fluffernutter is astounding, and i am not really a fan of marshmallow fluff or peanut butter without chocolate. the peanut butter cup is just as mouth-blowing. the place is fairly large. there's a spot for lounging that people use for business meetings when they don't want the formality of a table, and since i'm on vacation, i use it for knitting and reading the news. the bathroom is cute and great for makeup primps on those mornings i'm in a rush to get downtown. usually i'd just give a place two stars for this, but this time i will concede that the pros far outweigh the con: the godawful bacon. their veggie egg bagel is a wonderful breakfast bagel. again i was fooled by a cashier, who assured me that the bacon was tastier than the sausage. never, ever pay for the breakfast sandwich with bacon. it left me in a foul mood that still rankles. the bacon is not only so thin that two slices is hardly worth the money, it has absolutely no flavor at all. i have had such terrible bacon so few times i can't even fill one hand with it. it is horrible and so cheap that even most WIC bacon is partying. i wanted to take it back to the counter and ask for one with sausage instead, but these people are so sweet i didn't want to show what a downer the entire sandwich was. i even took three nibbles at bacon with no other flavor attached and there was nothing to taste. don't waste your money on the bacon here. almost everything else is wonderful. hopefully they will upgrade to real bacon, not the cheapest on the market. the cookies are better than the ick that is pepperwhistle's embarrassment, and i recommend the caramel apple cookie for a flavor blast. most people seem not to like the cupcakes or cookies very much, but laud the sandwiches. oh, and the soups can be bland, which is too bad. I LOVE SOUP RESTAURANTS. ask for a sample. read more
