Supporting local businesses is important to me, so I decided to give A1 Smog in Lawndale a try for…read morethe first time--and I'm glad I did! From start to finish, everything was smooth sailing. They answered all of my questions promptly through Yelp, responded quickly, and even made me feel welcomed before I had even arrived. No upselling, no surprises--just honest, straightforward business. That's refreshing these days. I came in on a Friday morning, and they had me in and out exactly within the promised timeframe. Parking was easy, and they even have a comfortable waiting area to escape the blazing South Bay sun. My sunscreen definitely appreciated the break! A big thank you to Jose for taking great care of both me and my beloved Honda EG. (Fellow car enthusiasts know...our cars are basically family members. ) He was professional, friendly, and made the entire process stress-free. I actually grew up in Lawndale and lived here for 19 years, so it was nice to finally experience a local business that truly delivers on customer service. As a business owner myself, I know that honest communication and treating customers well are what keep people coming back. I've found my new go-to smog shop and will definitely be returning for future smogs. I'll also be recommending A1 Smog to my friends and family. Thanks again, Jose, for making something as routine as a smog check a genuinely pleasant experience!

I've been going to this smog check station for a number of years as it was nearby and convenient…read more Over the years, the business has changed hands and all had been sufficient, no more no less mainly because of customer friendliness. I see a lot of 4 stars but even before this incident, it was not really more than 3 stars at best. I went this particular time and gave the man my registration form and was told to pull my car up. There was a faux pas where I locked my keys in my car just that quick. I had to wait for a bit to have an extra key brought to me. There were a few cars that came through for the service. I finally was able to pull up. Everything was fine and he handed me my smog cert and receipt. What he failed to do was return my registration form but I did not realize it until I got home so I went back to let him know he still had my form and without even looking, he was very adamant that he gave it back and I was 100% sure he had not...I hadn't been anywhere else and it was not in the car. So I asked if he could just look but he was rude and very unsympathetic to my request. I was insistent so he half-heartedly looked and I asked about a stack of papers that he finally rushed-looked through and then I ask about some other stack of folded papers that happened to be other registration forms of other customers that he claimed that they threw away. He tossed them at me to look through. I did not recover my form. Why would there be a stack of other customer forms that customers threw away just laying around if they threw them out? Why didn't he throw them out if that was the case? He probably didn't return their's either! Then it dawned on me that perhaps he was right and so was I. I had been there for a minute and he had my form the whole time so when the other cars came through while I was waiting for my extra key, he probably handed my form to one of those other customers or it's still there at his shop stuck somewhere but didn't bother to really look for it. I have no complaints with the smog check only the rude-ass merchant and because of that, I will go elsewhere where courtesy counts when spending my dollars! My form was never found that the merchant said he returned to me. How it got lost from his shop to my home is beyond my comprehension! Note: if any fraudulent activity arise as a result of my info being hijacked by this business or mistakenly given to the wrong customer, Best Buy Smog will be liable!!!!!!
