Recently I received a letter from DMV on getting a smog check and I decided to give a call to Smog & Registration (a STAR certified station) at 2 PM for the same-day visit. The staff said just come before 4:15 PM (45 minutes before closing time) and I got here at 3:30 PM. I just randomly parked my car on the driveway and one of the staff stated his welcome. We walked into the office and was quoted approximately $65 for smog check. I purchased $50 for $60 Yelp Deal ahead of time and the staff honored the coupon, but apparently it is better to use the Yelp check-in offer because (1) customers still receive the same $10 discount and (2) the staff did take an extra time figuring out how to apply the Yelp Deal. The staff said the smog check takes about 10 - 15 min and he was true to his word. The office had a TV playing and restroom for a quick break. I paid the remaining balance using my credit card and happily drove my car off. It was a quick and hassle free process. P.S. - Smog inspection fee is due whether vehicle passes or fails smog test. read more

My vehicle failed its smog test at a different location and they referred me to Smog & Registration for smog repair. Made the trip to Smog & Registration and spoke with Steve about my issue. He was very welcoming and had such a good vibe to him. Set up appointment and after dropping off vehicle, I eventually received a text after a full diagnostic check and multi-point inspection with a breakdown of required repair as well as suggested maintenance items. For some of the checks, I even received photos to show the need for attention. Provided electronic approval to conduct repairs and agreed to estimated cost. Picked up vehicle later in the day and so far all looks to be good. Definitely coming back for any future services/needs and will be recommending to friends/family. read more

Called and within 10 minutes had my car smog their certified Star smog specialist and they do registration at the same time if you would like for an additional $35 but no force on that professional clean in and out decent price I didn't download the coupon but I just paid $60 for the star smog read more

What would one do without Yelp?! Especially when you're new to town! Anywho. Registration season was here and just when I was ready to pay online, DMV said I needed a smog check. Boo. So on to Yelp I went to look for the closest smog check place. Lo and behold Yelp sends me this God-sent place where you can get your smog check done, renew your DMV registration, AND get your sticker in less than 15 minutes!!! Now there is a $35 service fee for this (on top of reg fees plus smog check fees), but 100xs better than waiting for hours at DMV. I also called in the morning to see if I needed an appointment on a Saturday, and the guy who picked up was so friendly and informative and to boot it all..no appointment needed! LOVE. Place seems perfectly fine for smog checks of modern cars (they were going through a fleet of rental cars while I was there), but you may want to ask your mechanic for a recommendation for your older vehicles. Test of pre-'91 vehicles is $110 not including the certificate if you pass and retest within 2 wekks is 50% off original test. Good customer service though. I was pressed for time and went with this place based off of a referral from the test only place I went to last time but couldn't use because their dynamometer needed repair and this place's website mentions servicing volvos. Mine is from '83. In the end I failed for 3 reasons: ignition timing, evap function, NO emissions by 1 PPM. I asked about possible reasons and if this was something they could diagnose, but the owner Steve seemed very hesitant to want to take the vehicle due to its age and the shop not being liable if things break when they look. He did take $10 off my balance when I asked before my results if the $50 for $60 voucher applied without needing to purchase the voucher so that was convenient. I called my mechanic and the next day dropped my car off with the place he uses (called ahead to make sure they could see me). During their look I passed the first 2 and when I okayed a retest they made sure my car was warm and I passed the emissions. Oh well. At the age my car is you are at the whim of the weather and the auto gods. read more

Every time it was in and out without any hassle or waiting. 10-15 mins max. Prices are fair. I appreciate the honesty of this shop in regards to repairs. They weren't able to find the problem as I didn't have a lot of time to leave my vehicle there. I am on a tight budget and am not able to get a rental for a day let alone a few days. I was happy to find when we went to pick up my car up that I wasn't charged a diagnostic fee. I am not sure this is typical but I did appreciate the break as times are a little difficult at the moment, as I'm sure many people are experiencing with prices at the pump are soaring as are food and so many necessities.
