We had an amazing and fun night here! We bought a bracelet during Spring Break for $23, which included bowling & shoes (complimentary socks! Pretty nice ones too), rock climbing, laser tag, billards, and glow golf. I thought it was high at first but I ended up extremely happy! So worth it if you can stay for longer than 2 hours and enjoy it all. On a Friday night at 7pm, I expected it to be straight up Chuck E Cheese in there, especially after reading past reviews. It was actually NOT crawling with unattended children. There were enough adults there to make us feel not out of place. I'm in my mid twenties and don't get me wrong, there were kids but most seemed ages 10 and up. Bowling -- this was great, we signed in for 2 lanes next to each other and only waited 5 minutes! It was mostly blacklit and there was fun music playing. Laser tag -- definitely the highlight for us! They had a 2 story room (ramps to go up and down, not stairs) and the equipment seemed to be in good shape. They give print outs of your scores and where you ranked on the team and overall. They had a new session every 30 minutes, so we signed in at 9:15 and came back 10 minutes later. The room was HOT but we were also running around with 30 other people. Rock Climbing -- also great, the facility was very nice. There were plenty of ropes, plenty of walls, more than I have seen at other rock walls. The ropes are automatic and belay each climber from the top, so you don't need a belay partner to cut/give rops slack. Same as laser tag, sign in at any time and the sessions start every 30 minutes but you can climb as long as you want. Glow golf -- we had fun, it was a putt putt course that had black lights and lots of fun decor. During a busy time though, this could get very crowded. Arcade -- the arcade was not included in our bracelet fee, however, they had a lot of the same games as Dave n Busters and the prices were very reasonable. Most games were $0.75 - $1.25 and they use electronic cards. All games we tried worked well and seemed to be new, not a run down arcade by any means. Staff -- They are definitely doing something right here when they hire employees; every staff member I encountered seemed very happy and eager to please. Even the staff that I simply made eye contact with in passing would smile warming at me. They were not at all under staffed and even as my family moved from one location to another, we continued to receive service. We arrived at 7 and did not leave until after midnight. The bowling is expensive, the arcade games are horrible. The crowd leaves a great deal to be desired, but hey, at least you can get a Crown Reserve for under $7.00! Perhaps at one time, this was a worthwhile destination. I really don't feel that to be the case any longer. read more

I happen to enjoy this place more than Dave n' Busters. The food is decent, but that's really not why we go here. They have arcade games, bowling, glow in the dark putt putt, and so on. My husband and I enjoy betting on who will win at golf or bowling. He kills me every time in golf, but bowling is the equalizer. Also, they have air hockey which is always so fun to me. I get a fit of the giggles every time I play. In addition, they have shuffle board. I have yet to lose at this game, much to my husband's chagrin! They really do have a lot of games, drinks (for kids and adults), a small dining area, and decent pricing. Go here for family fun! read more

My kids just love this place. I like their Monday specials that they've had in the past. We get a game card and go nuts. Seems like a lot of their games have been broken when we've been there in the past. I wonder if that is just part of doing that sort of business? Bowling-wise, I've priced them against Mel's in Georgetown and they are right there. Main Event only allows 6 per lane, which is fine for most, I'm sure. Mel's will allow 8 per lane (which happens to suit my needs). Shoe rentals are about the same as well. Bathrooms were clean. They also have a bar, pool table area, mini golf, laser tag, food, and rock climbing. read more

Even though I've had some 4 star experiences at Main Event, I still can't give it more than three stars for several reasons. First, Main Event needs to figure out their target market, or at least segment their markets to try to keep them from all overlapping. A lot of their marketing targets adults (happy hours, corporate events) but then when you get there kids are running everywhere. I HAVE kids, so I'm more lenient than most, but it still just gets to be too much. I hate to make a complaint without a suggestion for improvement, but it is an obvious problem. Is Main Event more for families or more for singles? They need to decide. There are a plethora of ways to encourage and discourage different market groups on different days and the team at Main Event needs to delve into some of those methods because as it is now, I think it's a little too much for everyone. Additionally, they really need to do some improvements to their glow golf. It's kinda boring, even for the little kids. Maybe removing this and putting a separate "adult" area might be a good idea. I have no idea how their business model looks or what kind of profitability this location is seeing, but when I go to Main Event I'm left thinking how much better it could be. At least the happy hour specials are decent, but I can think of better places to play pool.... read more

When I first heard about Main event in Austin I really got my hopes up and thought it would be so fun and worth the money. Unfortunately I got my hopes up too high. I went with my husband and some friends. When we got there it was 3 hour wait for bowling due to it being the weekend. While we waited the first thing we did was laser tag and I don't even know how the lady who runs the laser tag is still working there; she was the most rudest person to us, telling us not to touch the equipment 5 minutes after she let us in the room. If she didn't want anyone to touch anything she should have told us before she let us in. She didn't even tell us where to go or where to stand. After laser tag it was about 3 hours from when we got there so we went to follow up on the bowling and come to find out it was ready for us but no one ever texted us as we were told. While we were bowling we never got served or asked if we wanted anything to eat. No one ever came to us despite searching for a waiter. 10 minutes left into our game someone came and asked us if we wanted to order something; definitely too late for that. This could be such an amazing experience for customers unfortunately it is very unorganized. EVO entertainment is the way to go if you want better service for your money that you're paying. read more

This place is ridiculous. On a vacation and it was raining so we decided to stop in. We paid for 4 full passes for the day. Go to the bar to order a drink. I had a paper copy (leagal) of my driver's license that just got me through the tsa, but they wouldn't serve me. I am a 48 year old man with my 20 year old son and they wouldn't serve me a drink. Ruined our entire day. The management is ridiculous and unreasonable. I refused to even stay. Do not go here! On top of that it was dirty and half of the things didn't work. Our nine year old girl had a fabulous birthday party at Main Event. I was really impressed by the value for the money. Three activities, game play, drinks, pizza, decorations, balloons, and a party chaperone we're all included for a very reasonable price. Jasmine, our chaperone, was excellent and very attentive. Here is my feedback about the Rock climbing center and I am a member: 1. There is no fixed time when the gym opens. I need to call everyday and check. 2. I need to call every day to reserve time for that day. 3. The employees cant give me a direct number to the gym. Upon asking they told me to talk to the manager of the place. Really? You work there everyday and dont know the direct number? The employees are really friendly, but they have no process in place which makes it really painful for customers. read more

My experience with the Main Event has mostly been to attend kid's birthday parties. The kids all seem to enjoy themselves and the varies options provided for the parties are great. My kids have tried it all: the bowling, the golf and the rock climbing. The party rooms are a little cramped and you can usually hear the other groups in the adjacent rooms. The arcade can be a little chaotic on the weekends when there are several parties going on. But all in all a pleasant experience and I think the wife and I may consider this place as a possible birthday site for our kids. read more

I read some of the bad reviews so I was a bit apprehensive when I got there. But I really don't know what ppl r talking about. I only tried the rock climbing area so idk about the rest of the place. The rock climbing area was fun, & the employes where super nice. They answered all our questions and just seemed like cool dudes. I had a great time & every one else in my group did too. They also have a $5 deal going on right now, & we got to rock climb for $5 as long as we wanted too & that included our shoes. They have the same deal with bowling too I believe! Kind of a big, crazy entertainment mega-plex. Sadly, they had a power outage while we were there, so most of the games were not working, you couldn't bowl, and the tv screens all went out. This place is super fun! I'm from California and this place was a big welcoming party for those who don't know what to do around here. The staff is super friendly, sweet, funny and patient... Although I was very sad when my group and I was having a hard time breaking down the split check. The girl who was ringing us up kept rolling her eyes, huffing, slamming the register in frustration and just being straight up rude. Thankfully a young gentleman came and helped us instead. But one employee wouldn't ruin my whole experience. I'd definitely come back... probably ask someone else to help if she's there though. read more

Mini-Golf is run down, black light course is poorly lit and the course is just hard to play if you're wanting a more competitive outing. Well today sadly did not go well here. We came for bowling, lunch and some arcade time with a card my husband got here last weekend. The bowling lane we got stopped working 4 times the 3rd time it took 15-20 mins to get somebody to help us. The lane next to us had the same problem and they just left because they saw how much trouble we had. Its also strange that you can order everything at the little tablets but only half the menu can be ordered at the actual food area so you wait in line to be sent back to your seat to order. My husband had a company party the weekend before and everybody got game cards. He was told he could take the card and use it another time. There was nothing on the card today he spoke to three people and nobody could or would help us. The girl at the prize area kept swipping it like we were idiots even though we explained to her twice what was going on. She shrugged and said it expired. We apparently had less then 7 days to use the card but he was just told yea bring it back. The games also suck and take credits without letting the kids play. When we got my kids their prizes the girl clearly remembered me and just mumbled at me the whole time and was pretty blah and rude. Could not tell if she is just a nornal annoying teen or what. Not sure this place is worth the money anymore. read more

Bowled here now several weeks in a league. Worst lanes in Austin. Pins don't reset well sometimes falling after reset, balls get stuck, resets total pin rack after one role and this happened four or five times a game. Wouldn't even bowl there recreationally. The bar makes strong drinks and prices are pretty respectable. They have laser tag for kids, arcade games, and even glow golf which is average at best. My gripe with this place is about the bowling. We went on a Saturday night and there was a 45 minute wait (no big deal and was to be expected). They make you pay upfront for everything to get on the wait list (also not a big deal) and make you determine how long you want to play without giving you the option to extend your time afterwards. I totally get this approach as it makes it fair and easier to estimate the wait list time. The issue was when our hour was up we had our group of 4 on our 2nd game, and we were on the 9th frame. The hour we paid for upfront really is a hard stop and they wouldn't let us finish. I totally understand if people were on the 5th frame or less, but I think a grace period of 5-10 minutes to let people finish their game if they are already almost done should be allowed. I've always felt bowling alleys are mostly the same so with that being said I will make sure to spend my time and money elsewhere from now on. read more

Went here for my birthday - was treated incredibly poorly by two waitresses. No service, took 20 minutes to get my beer (after she finally came over - asked two employees to get her.) The place was empty so I know no one was that busy. We spent $40 getting "tickets" and the machine told us we were "maxed out" and left us with over 2,000 unclaimed tickets. Your saving grace and why this is getting five stars is for your employee named Seth who went above and beyond. He helped us so many times and even gave us bowling tips. It felt like he was doing 20 peoples jobs all on his own. Thanks Seth! You saved my birthday. :) We go here often and usually we receive good service. Pretty dang ridiculous. We opted for the all you can play deal for $18.95, mainly for the bowling and laser tag. Laser tag was great and is the only thing that would earn any stars here. Bowling was a nightmare. Lane 16, by the way, kept getting stuck and would not calculate pins and scores correctly. Help was hard to find. We came a pretty long way to spend a day with family and unfortunately our experience here just left everyone pretty annoyed. Not how I want to spend family time. read more

Another night at main event and left my baby girl very happy . Rock climbing room is awesome and they let U roam free and try all different walls. We were on the easier side And my 5 year old tore it up! Tonight we tried there food . Garlic fries were okay . Burger was good . The cole slaw might have been the worst I've ever had in my life . Something was terribly wrong with it when it reminded me of Halloween paint U spraying Ur hair it was that bad . The kids hot dog meal wasn't to impressive . For fresh fruit they give U a sealed fruit cup from the grocery store ( stop slacking and get real fresh fruit ) Although some of the games in the arcade section are crap and old there are lots of fun games to play and we had a blast ! I had to write this review as I'm still sitting here. The review is for the restaurant area. There was no waiters to be found in the area. We sat and ordered our food on the tablet and we saw our waiter once! Once! He dropped off the food and we thought he would come back with utensils and napkins. Nothing!! A line of 5 parties (guess) and not one associate could explain or apologize. When we finally approached the desk to find out what our options were or how long it might be, we were told to try the atm and then pay cash. Always call before you go... there is always a wait for rock climbing, bowling and lazer tag. Kind of a waste spending $18.95 on the "fun pass" then being told its 2.5 hrs for rock climbing, 1.5 hts for bowling and 1hr for lazer tag. Whats left minature golf and arcades (not included in wristbands) spent another $25 per arcade cards so reallly like $45 per person. So call before you go... Worst visit ever !!! bartender was extremely rude and so was the rock climbing attendant. The only decent people are the servers. For people who work with kids you'd think they have the common sense to be a little nice towards the costumers that bring in the money but all they do is being attitude to the table, that ruins everyone's mood. I understand it might be a tiring day but there is no reason to be that rude and disrespectful to someone who hasn't said one word. The rock climbing attendant wouldn't let me explain why i was even there he continued to interrupt me as i spoke to explain why i was there and what i needed.
