Dart'em Up is classified on Yelp as a 'Kid Activity.' Well, aren't we all kids at heart? I had to convince my friend to come along but even he admitted it was a good time. We showed up on a Saturday night and I was expecting it to be a lot busier. I assumed it would be crawling with rugrats and ankle biters but my friend and I were it. They had a Saturday night special where it was unlimited play with any type of blaster. There was about 1.5-2 hours left before they closed up and figured we could play a lot of games. Since it was the two of us it was mano y mano while we had a gamesmaster/ref/time keeper there. The space is littered with Darts and with the variety of blasters available you need to be cognizant of what 'caliber' you're using. A family ended of four ended up coming in so despite being outnumbered 2-1 we beat them due to superior tactics, coordinated teamwork and the fact that two of the them hadn't hit puberty yet. This was an amazing time well spent with the kids. The staff along with Mr. Richard were amazing in dealing with our recreation center, even with our late arrivals. The arena was clean as well as the facility. They have a variety of weaponry all kid friendly which helps with the multitude of games. The staff were extremely rude and wouldn't allow the kids to grab simple things from shoe cubbies without giving mean glares and rolling eyes. I don't reccomend going on thursdays the staff are rude and very impolite to those who haven't done anything wrong. This is a new experience for us. Usually it's laser tag. But I have to say everyone at Dart'em Up cares about kids (and me) having fun. There are two levels of intensity and it's just good fun. One of the advantages of being a parent is finding out about all these cool places that you never knew existed -- places that never existed when you were a kid. One such place is Dart 'Em Up, a Nerf gun battle arena. Think: Laser tag but with nerf guns. We brought our family of four here, including our two grade school age kids, on a Tuesday (which is BOGO day). This brought our total to a reasonable $30 for about an hour's worth of fun. I was excited to see The Armory where we could each pick out a weapon, and our kids decided they were going to join forces and team up against me and my husband, so we donned our green and orange vests while engaging in a little light trash talking. The format involved an MC/deejay inside one of two large arenas, instructing the teams on which games we were playing, the rules of engagement, etc. We played capture the flag, last man standing, humans vs. zombies, and even a rousing "pick up the darts" game (a fellow parent remarked that they were stealing a beloved parenting technique encouraging us to pick up a bunch of darts before the timer ran out). My only criticism is kind of a big one: if you end up with a crappy blaster, your experience is going to be pretty miserable. Ask the person at the Armory for their recommendation and GO WITH THAT. My kids didn't listen (of course!) and instead chose based on the coolest looking blaster and it didn't work out too well for them. Some of the reviews mention that you can bring your own Nerf gun, so we may try that after the holidays. As a parent, I'm looking forward to checking out the waiting area with what appears to be a nicely stocked selection of beer and wine next time. read more

We had super fun birthday celebration at Dart em Up! This was our 3rd time bringing his friends here for his birthday! He loves playing here. New renovation looks awesome. - On the right side, there's a more spacious game room with brand new arcade games, new electronic basketball games. The boys especially liked the Minecraft Dungeons arcade game. I got a prize from the claw machine! Instead of coins, you can buy game cards from the kiosk machine. There's a robust prize station y to redeem your points on your game card. The left side has an expanded lounge area with an extensive snack counter and several coolers which house cold beverages. More tables and chairs were added for ample seating. Hand sanitizer bottles available on tables The owner was great - friendly and checked in on us. Employees were nice and . Clean restrooms and extensive collection of Nerf guns to chose from. We got the Firestrike package so kids could choose any nerf gun and includes $15 game card. My daughter liked the cold vanilla latte drink and played air hockey, Dig Dug and drove the Super car racer. read more

This is my second time here in a few years. This place is great for birthday parties and walk-ins for kiddos. Brought two boys 7 and 11 as walk-ins. Purchased 3rd tier monster nerf guns (1hour) +$15 arcade card(s). Came on a Saturday 12:30 pm; great time, great fun. Staff are Amazing. There is a bar area that has drinks for kids and adults. Lil ones driving you crazy? Are you sick of looking at your spawn playing video games or being glued to the TV then load em up and get them to Dart'em Up. For an hour they will run around, play structured games, and shoot the heck out each other using those foam darts. It is a little pricey but you can bring your own weapon. They do have some cool rapid fire guns and I would recommend just renting them. The kids do go through a quick orientation before being cut loose. There are referees and an organizer who explains the different games like capture the flag. You can watch the mayhem comfortably from behind the observation glass stations. While sipping on a cold beer. Parents, I do realize that I buried the lead, COLD BEER! We had a great time watching young blood burn off energy and make some friends as he made sure to shot all the bad guys on the other team. Dart'em is available for parties as well.. This is the best place in Austin for a kid's birthday party. We went for the second time today to a birthday party. We hosted my son's birthday party here in October 2020. The kids get to play with NERF guns, then they have pizza and birthday cake, and then they get to play for a long time in the arcade area. Everything is included in the price. Both times my son had a wonderful experience. The owner and everyone who works there is very nice and they go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time. It was, hands down, the easiest birthday party I ever planned -- because Dart 'Em Up literally took care of everything. I recommend Dart 'Em Up for birthdays, playdates, or any occasion. Since we discovered Dart Em Up, we have spent hours here every. single. weekend. That means a 90-minute drive for me each way since we live in San Antonio! My son is a diehard Nerf fanatic and while he's been to laser tag places, it just wasn't the same. Then we discovered Dart em Up. He's almost 14, yet can't get enough of this place. Last Sunday he ran and played for two solid hours. As I watched through the (thankfully, soundproofed) window, I saw little kids, Dads, even an intrepid Grandma sneak around with her blaster held high. Referees are always present, ensuring gameplay is safe for everyone. They have plenty of room and will open an extra arena to make sure everyone has a great Nerf experience dodging barriers and Nerf bullets. It's a great place that is clean, well run, wholesome, and inviting for the entire family. It also has an arcade of games, party rooms for celebrating birthdays, and free Wifi (because this mom has to catch up on work). My only fervent wish is for Dart Em Up to please, please, please come to San Antonio! Owner and the gentleman who ran through orientation both seemed nice and the game play looked fun. However, this was our first time here with my 6 year old and it left a little to be desired. When we arrived (around 1:55 pm) we were asked how long we wanted to play. We paid for 2 hours, bought socks, selected my son's nerf gun, were given a pink wristband, and headed into the "briefing room" for rules and instructions. My son was given an orange/yellow jersey and we headed into a room full of young players (ages 5-8 maybe). Across the hall, the bigger kids were playing. As soon as I sat down the owner introduced himself and asked how we heard about the place. I noticed at that time it was maybe 2:05 by the time my son started playing. I made note because the owner said, "We're going to move them all into one combined room about 2:30 pm." To which I said Ok because I really had no clue how it worked. Then around 2:20, game play stopped in the little kids room and there was lots of standing around, lining up, etc in the room for about 10 minutes. I finally went in the room after I noticed a line of little kids was being led across the hall to the big kids room (the aforementioned combining of rooms) but my son and maybe 4 other little kids remained in the original room. I asked "What's going on?" My son said, "I'm not going with them." This is when I realized we had walked into a room of YMCA campers. It seems the referees or whatever they are called let the non YMCA kids choose to go to play in the big kids room or stay in that original room. Of course, none of the non YMCA little kids wanted to compete against older players, so they stayed behind. Problem was, it was now 2:40 and it seemed like the few little kids who stayed had finally been sorted into new teams and play was just now starting again. Then all of a sudden, maybe around 3:00 pm, my son was given another choice to move to the big kids room and this time his whole team wanted to go. They weren't having as much fun with far fewer players, surely. So my son had no choice but to move across the hallway. Then at 3:15, the staff told the little kids their time was up and it was time to go. Again, this could have been YMCA kids. However, now there were few kids left playing in the big kids room (for want of a better term), and the original room was pitch black / closed. So I went to the front desk and asked what was up. Why after an hour and 15 mins (we paid for 2 hours) were we being kicked out? And I was told "pink wristbands were all done at 3:15. In short, very confusing, and I can only assume the staff intended that I would then stay and pay to play video games? I'm not sure how else the 2 hours we paid for was to be filled. Such a strange experience. My son had fun, but I don't think I will pay for 2 hours next time. Apparently we're lucky to get 1 hour of play for that price! read more

I have wanted to review this spot for awhile, because my kids always have fun and the owner is always so gracious and kind. He goes out of his way to engage and make sure everyone is happy. I have appreciated it over the years, particularly when I had some challenging parenting moments with my son. I fondly recall a few years back when my son was having a hard time managing his emotions, the owner pulled him aside gave him a little pep talk and offered him the biggest nerf gun they had. This gesture has always been something I remember, the owner stepping in to help when he saw that I had exhausted all my tricks and was just done.
