Once again, in NEED of help on my Mini Van. It was sputtering & dying at stop lights. I called the mechanic that rebuilt it less than 2yrs ago long before meeting Brent & Angie and was told it was the throttle body. I Tow for a local Tow Co. & have brought dozens of customers in need of assistance there for mechanical problems over the last 17 months, NOT once have I heard ANYTHING negative about Main Auto, The worst complaint I heard was that the customers car couldn't be repaired THAT DAY & it was his work truck. At Main Auto there is really no such thing as FAST Svc. It is a timely service & NEVER, EVER do you want a FAST MECHANIC. Fast Mechanics make fast mistakes & don't want to own up to their mistakes & pass the bill onto you. NOT at Main Auto. They get it right everytime, the first time. The Tech that takes the time to do the job right is the mechanic you want, I also can not say enough about the pricing. BEST RATES in Town & ABOVE & BEYOND Cust. Svc. at Main Auto. I will never let another mechanic work on ANY of my cars ever again so long as there is a Main Auto Repair I can turn to. P.S. The issue that was causing my Mini Van to run rough & stall out was a simple hose with with a kink in it. Under $5 to fix. Brent showed me the part & sent me to get a new one. I have a 2006 Nissan Armada. I have been to many auto repair shops. By far this place meet my expectations. I brought my own rotors and pads and he charged me close to half what others charged. Also, a Plus, without the sales pitch he breaks down the process on what needs to be done. Another Big Plus, you will learn something about your car when talk to him about your car problems. I own a Tundra 2005. I have been taking it to the dealer for a long time. Recently I instructed them to give it a once over since I now have 319,000 miles on the vehicle. Once they checked it out I received a quote for $7800 to "fix" everything. After I contemplated my options I took it to Main Auto, since have not visited them for a while. They remembered my and after leaving my car in for one full do I received the quote from the owner. Gordon, there is nothing wrong with your car. A few issues but that can wait. I called on a Monday morning, wanting to get my car looked at asap. They told me to bring it right in and they would check it out. Not only did they check it out, but they fixed it the same day! I wasn't expecting that. My car didn't quite make it to the shop, I got almost there and it died. They came and jumped it for me 3 times (alternator problems) The owner and his wife were very friendly, but also very to the point and didn't bullshit me. When I went to pay, my bill was $405, but she told me just give her $400. I wont argue with that! All in all, great experience. read more

Main Auto Repair is the best in town. I called asking how much it would cost me to check out a squeaky belt on my car. Bret told me to just bring it in and he will have a look.. I brought it in and he had his mechanic look at it and tighten the belt. They also pointed out a potentially dangerous situation with one of my tires that just may have saved me a blow out on the freeway. I asked how much I owe, and they told me not to worry about it!! A TEN STAR RATING: Ok , Truck breaks down in Elko Nevada, 500 miles from home. Call Brent, he and his team spend about one hour back and forth on the phone with me trying to decide whether its worth getting it fixed and the expenses involved. Then another buddies truck has problems in Colorado on the same hunting trip and Brent to the rescue again, He gave us a solution to a blown head gasket that let us use the vehicle for the rest of the hunting trip and then drive it home 1000 miles. Now understand Brent and Angie have been servicing my personal and business vehicles since they opened. On a hot, exhausting day on my way back home from Yosemite, my car's transmission gives out on the freeway late Friday night. Two failed attempts to get the car in gear on the freeway and one angry driver in an 18-wheeler convince us to get off the freeway on foreign grounds. I manage to pull my Acura into a strip mall. I Yelp "auto repair" and our closest option happens to be this repair shop in Manteca with perfect rating. We decide to crawl our way over their in our vehicle. Somehow without blowing up the engine, we manage to enter the lot of Main Auto Repair. The place was busy and wrapping up their day. Who I assume is the owner and his wife saw our sweaty, despondent faces and took pity on us and more. Immediately, he gave us water and a place to sit as we told him our story. He waited patiently as I called back home to the boss and explained what happened. The mechanic gave us our options. He explained in a small town all the auto shops would be closing and realistically none would be available until business day Monday. He told us that he would check around for transmissions and call me when he had one, which he later did. Once again, he kindly drove us to a restaurant where we could wait for my girlfriend to drive over and pick us up. In the end, I choose not go with Main Auto for my transmission repair. This is because a friend of the family is in the car business and made it easy for me to get it repaired. However, I know we lucked out by running into Main Auto Repair. They did get back to us and his quotes were comparable to my guys. Main Auto Repair earns 5 stars from me because of their family-oriented, friendly nature. It is apparent they are there to make other people's lives a little better and not just make a quick buck. Update to my previous post: Have a 1996 Tahoe, which was leaking coolant and oil. I knew the crankshaft seal needed to be replaced, and that is why I initially called. When we took my car in - it turns out the coolant was from a cracked radiator. The pricing was very fair (I have replaced a few radiators in my day). The work was done on time. Today I am taking my vehicle back to have brakes done. Highly recommended. read more

I started going to Main Auto in the early 2000's after seeing an ad in the Big Bopper. We had recently moved to the area and except for SpeeDee Lube, did not know any mechanics. We were having trouble with my step son's car and I was at that point that I would have paid $$$ just for it to go away. I rarely give a 5 star review but i have nothing but great things to say about Main auto. Brent really took care of me and i have been taking my cars here for years. I brought my mustang in a week ago because it wouldn't pass smog and Brent said to bring it in and gave me an estimate of the next day being done. He said he got that part in early and i dropped my car off monday morning and by 5pm the same day and they also stayed open long enough for me to get there from work! I had my car finished! Also, why i strongly recommend this shop is instead of hoping it passed smog (because i only get one retest) he told me to bring it down for free to make sure all the codes were clear so it'd pass smog. Ok so I took my 2006 ford fusion SE to Phil waterford's ford and they told me I had a bad fuel pump and they gave me a pricey estimate, etc. I decided to get a second opinion so I took it to Brent at Main Auto upon the referred of a neighbor. He found that my fuel pump was fine and that it was actually my computer that was jacked up. Main Auto fixed it and they really worked with me and let me get some parts through my sister n law at O'reillys. Brent gave me a copy of his diagnostic test invoice and told me to take it to Ford and get my money back. I did and they refunded me 125$ for an incorrect diagnostic test. Main Auto Repair (Brent and Angie are the owners) are the biggest crooks in town. They are the biggest liars and the most dishonest and most manipulative auto shop I have ever been to. They give you a very low estimate, but when it comes time to do the actual repairs, they raise their price and then they play mind games by insisting that you heard wrong and that they gave you the estimate in writing. Then when you get home and look at the original estimate, you find that their estimate has all zeros on it. Angie told me it was going to cost me $225.00 then she said $325 to replace the power steering hose. I walked out of there with a piece of paper in hand. It had all zeros on it. Then when I went back for them to do the repairs, they raised the price to $375. I told Angie that next time I went there that I wanted the estimate in writing and that how can they charge more to replace the power steering hose than to do a brake job and that the price was too high . She insisted that she gave me a written estimate showing $375. So she printed me a copy of what she claimed she gave me when I was there the week prior. When it was time to pay the price was $343.00. When I got home, I looked at the piece of paper Angie gave me and it had all zeros on it. No where did it say $225 nor $375. They will make every attempt to milk you out of every single cent you're stupid enough to pay. They count on people's ignorance and people's stupidity. They count on you being too trusting. I went back to have them check their work because my car was vibrating after they replaced the power hose. I again talked to Brent about the price and that they were over charging me but he refused to adjust the price. He went on a rant to explain why it was vibrating just more lies. Angie and Brent have absolutely no conscious about ripping people off and about scamming as much money as they possibly can out of you with the tricks they have up their sleeves. After the fact, I went over to Mazda for an estimate and they gave me an estimate of 308.00. Mazda has a much higher over head because they have a much larger building, much larger staff, etc and yet they charge a lot less than Angie and Brent do. Since Angie and Brent are such liars, I have doubts that they used the proper power steering fluid and over charge me for it. They claim they got it from Hyundai but I have my doubts. If you get your auto repaired at this business, be prepared to get over charged or to confront them about their outrageously high prices. And make sure you get an estimate from them in writing. They ended up charging me $175 just for one hour for labor alone. And be prepared to hear lies and more lies every time they open their mouths. If you have ever received service at Main Auto Repair, it is not too late to find out whether or not you have been overcharged. Call around and get estimates on work you have had done in the past. Visit other repair shops and get written estimates for work Main Auto Repair has done for you in the past and take those estimates in to Angie and Brent.
