So I've been taking my car to this mechanic for a few years now. Normally, he tells me what needs to be done and I just tell him to do it. My car has a reoccurring problem with the noise in the brakes when I go in reverse. They fixed it in January but I don't remember what they did. So I took it back to him today. I dropped my car off and told him that I would call him later. Within a half an hour I got an estimate, via text message,for about $1100! for some reason, my gut was telling me something was wrong. I just didn't believe he was being honest, So I picked up my car and went to another mechanic. He explained that the noise I was experiencing was the brake pads were not Honda brake pads and that it was normal for the brakes to make that noise. He then he proceeded to show me the parts my mechanic wanted to replace. There was nothing wrong with any of them. They looked brand new. California auto sport was trying to take advantage of me. I'm not sure how many times in the past they've done that to me, I've never checked, but I'm sure glad for my gut feeling this time. It saved me $1000. The mechanic on staff decided to repair other items on the vehicle without a quote or permission from me or my husband. We asked why they did the repair without consent , he said because it needed to be done. I questioned the amount and was willing to pay for the parts that they replaced even though we did not ask or approve of the additional repair. I figured we could come to an agreement , I pay for the additional parts and they cover the labor cost for the unauthorized repair. No they charged my card the full amount. We did not request or authorize the repairs therefore we should not be expected to pay for this service. read more

Took my car there to get my break pads replace. Left with squeaky breaks which was never an issue before. Took my car back to them on "3" more occasions trying to give them an opportunity to see where they went wrong and correct it. In conclusion I still have squeaky breaks. TLDR: First time experience here wasn't the best, I recently bought a used car and decided to get an inspection done on it. - I turned in my car at 10:30a and I didn't get my car back until 4:30p. From 10:45a to 1:00p, I did not receive any call back with an update on my car - until I called for an update at 1:02p - They withheld information, not letting me know that I needed my transmission fluid replaced until checkout, when they were closed I left feeling like my car was a low priority job, hence why I didn't receive an update call. Yusaf showed no attention to detail, and didn't outline all the information when asked multiple times, making this experience unprofessional. I had high hopes of becoming a regular here, but I will not be coming back here again. Complete details, with pricing, and timestamps below. Receipt and spreadsheet attached. Visit date: 10/05/2024, on a Saturday. *California AutoSport closes at 2:00p on Saturdays. I turned in my car at 10:30a and I didn't get my car back until 4:30p. From 10:45a to 1:00p, I did not receive any call back with an update on my car. I called in at 1:02p to check the status of my car, it wasn't until then they provided me with its information. On the phone call Yusaf said that I needed the following: [ Suggested Repairs (Price)] - Replace a leaky coolant tube ($193) - Replace my brakes and plates ($476) - Replace the AC compressor, since coolant dripped on it ($749) - Recharge the AC compactor ($139) - Inspection ($95) Total: $1638 I created an Excel spreadsheet with all the items and their individual pricing during that phone call. I approved of the following: [ Approved Repairs (Price) ] - Replace a leaky coolant tube ($193) - Replace my brakes and plates ($476) ~ Inspection ($95); this was apparently removed Total: $697 Estimated time to complete approved jobs, as said by Yusaf: 1.5 hours Actual time it took to complete (not including no updates from 10:45a to 1:00p): 3 hours At 4:00p, Yusaf called me letting me know that my car was ready. I live only about a 5-minute away, so biking there is not an issue. When I got there I reviewed what we talked about on the phone, and what was done - I talked to Yusaf - from when I dropped off my car, and had the update call with. It wasn't until then that Yusaf told me that the transmission fluid had to be replaced because it was dirty. That surprised me because he didn't mention it during update call, and he would recommend the replacement of a AC compressor - which is a $749 job, over the replacement of transmission fluid, which is only $130. I expressed this confusion to Yusaf, getting confirmation that he didn't bring up the transmission fluid replacement during the call, and even telling them that I would have much preferred to have my transmission fluid replaced during this visit as well. Yusaf created an excuse saying "Oh, I didn't think it was in your budget." If I were to do all the suggested items, the total would have been $1638. With the jobs I had them do, the total was $697. I'm a completely-remote engineer and professional; adding on $130 towards something mechanical in the car is not an issue for me. It frustrates me that I have to go in again to get this job done- when I could have got it done all all in one hit. California AutoSport seems professional, and Yusaf was nice and open to answering any questions I had. I just wish that he were more attentive at that time and provided all the information up front, rather than last minute telling me that a certain job needs to be done during check out. A part of me believes my car was a low priority job, hence why I didn't receive an update call. I can understand focusing on high priority jobs - I work with contractors/subcontractors all the time - but this really felt like Yusaf showed no attention to detail, and didn't outline all the information when asked multiple times, making this experience unprofessional. None of which were needed.We had 50/50 oil in the car and he put 100% synthetic oil in without asking. Tightened the filter too tight so when we went to take it off it broke the housing. Took my '07 Dodge Magnum in for a simple routine oil change & tranny flush only to find out from my father's mechanic that these guys stripped 1 of the bolts that holds the trans pan in place and lost one of the blocks that seals the bolts to prevent leaks from the pan. So these guys they have as their "mechanics" there decided to replace my missing block with a bunch of washers & call it a day, & on top of all that, the guy at the front desk, Yusef I believe his name is lies to me over by telling me my power steering fluid is leaking which turned out to not be the case. DO NOT come to this if you're expecting honest work! Took my truck in because have had the ABS & Brake light go on intermittent for a few years. I have used this shop before for other repairs and are basically satisfied. Shop tried to use a code reader to diagnose the problem, but no codes came up. I spoke with a friend that has a similar truck and he said he replaced the ABS controller on his truck and it fixed the problem. I mentioned this to CAS and also looked around for the part. Dealer has discontinued part, so only availability is junk yard. CAS found one in junk yard and gave me a price to install. I told them, if this part did not fix the problem I wanted my money back. Shop manager Zack said "Don't worry, I'll take care of you". They installed part and a few days later, same ABS & brake light came back on. I brought truck back to shop, they still could not pull a code on reader so I told them I have a friend with a Honda repair shop and that I would ask him to see if he can try his code reader. He pulled up several codes related to Solenoid's. I brought truck to shop and showed the service mgr. Nick these codes. He said he gave to Zack. After 2 weeks still have not heard from Zack. This shop charged me $460 for a used part that did not work. Maybe the used part was bad as well. They also did not follow up with me after I notified them the part was bad, & made me spend my time searching out another shop to diagnose the problem. read more

Twice changed for service and didn't fix car. My son went for a/c service for $49. They charge him $200 and didn't even fix his a/c the said it a wire cut and want more money to repair it. The first time car work good drove it in for a new radiator. One of the BEST experiences I have ever had at an auto shop. Took my Tesla here for an alignment after 10 other shops said they couldn't do it, and another shop attempted and failed and ridiculously blamed it on me (horrible experience). These guys are the exact opposite. They care more about doing a good job than they care about taking your money. They didn't ask for a single dollar, until both them and the customer (me) were satisfied with the end result. Few people have experience working on Teslas, but these guys put all hands on deck to get it done. Tesla has a lot of proprietary technology and nuisances to their vehicles, but they were diligent and committed to getting it right. After a few attempts they offered to waive the cost all together, as it was a great learning experience for them - but they persisted to try again and eventually did a good job after persistence with different techniques and adjustments. The owner, front desk, and labor staff are all friendly honest and passionate. There were even many elderly customers in the shop, all of which the owner and front desk person treated with the utmost respect and compassion. So rare to see this kind of service from an auto shop. I took my car to this shop in September for oil change and AC charge since it was not cooling as well. Even though summer was over, I thought it would be good to get it ready for next summer. That turned out to be a huge blunder. The AC stopped cooling within a month of starting to use it in early April. Called them to inquire about their warranty and it turned out the warranty of their work was 30 days. Brought my car to the dealership a few weeks ago and learned that there was debris in the system. That is where I found it. The oil that spewed out was very clean so they do appear to have changed the oil. They worked on my car they said it was the master cylinder brake booster they fix those items the car was driven home the back brakes caught on fire they said it was the calipers and it wasn't the they fixed what was wrong with it which was the original problem and they said it wasn't the calipers then at the last minute to collect extra money they said it was the back calipers I had no choice but to pay for the back calipers when I had two different quotes from two different companies I contacted those companies and they said that they ran a compression test on the back calipers and my back calipers were fine I will never recommend this company they ripped us off be wary of this company if you take your car there I know they have coupons out there so just be very leery of this company they'll say one thing and then charge you a bunch of money for something else I'm actually going to the Better Business Bureau also to report them I'm sorry I never leave bad comments on the company and I try to contact management first but I did try to contact management and they said no that it is what it is so it is what it is I am also going to contact Google and all the other streaming sites that have recommendations for mechanics and shops and make sure that they know that California auto sport that goes by several different names on the Internet just so bad service so bad the mechanics are rip offsI hate to even leave one star because they deserve -10 stars read more

I took my car in for suspension inspection and diagnosis. And to have them also check for an oil leak I had been having. Not only were they able to determine where the oil leak was coming from. But they were able to fix all of the suspension problems and repairs that same day. including taking me in their shop to show me the underneath of my car where the problems were before fixing them. As for the oil leak. That work was supposed to have been done by another shop here in town. Since it was notated on my invoice. And I was charged for the gasket and repairs done.
