Nearly run over by a MaidGreen car this morning in Lower Haight; mint green Prius. If they clean your house like they drive, beware!!

I'm a huge fan of Maid Green! Professional, friendly service and nice attention to detail. We have two fluffy cats, and the cleaners are wizards with pet hair. Our hardwood floors always look great. The team is also very considerate and consistent with appointments, and Todd is very responsive whenever I reach out. They also have this neat service for rental tenants who are moving to help with the final clean-outs or to prepare the new place. Highly recommend! read more

Apr 09: I'm looking for a new service, wife says I'm in charge. I think they did a good job but I wasn't happy. Seems like I can't get with the schedule and so we get different people each time. And per other reviews it just seemed like less cleaning happened each time. Maybe I'm imagining it. update: very clean, they pimped our house. it looks so much better and provides an incentive to try and keep it up! Best example: there was a scuzzy area by the shower-over-tub on the wall by the shower head where water tends to drip and leave moisture. To be clear, the wall was black, OK? We're talking Superfund site here. Maid Green got it clean, like 100%. Amazing to me. Oversight example: no one cleaned under the sofa. Dust bunny alert. one observation: if you are hiring a maid service, your house is probably not as neat as a pin. when they clean, stuff will get moved around. there's a couple things I can't find. I don't think they got tossed, but if you can, grab anything that may be important and put it away. read more

So I just moved into a studio in San Francisco, and the landlord decided not to get the place cleaned up for me to move in. The place is newly constructed and had dust on the floor, cobwebs and other construction stuff all over. I got another cleaning service to clean the place before calling maid green. That service spent about an hour-and-a-half (two people) cleaning the place, but I wasn't very happy with the job they did. So I called Maid Green. (Pre-Cleaning Review) Very professional so far. Called me back within 24 hours and set up and appointment to take a look at my place for an estimate. Jason showed up on time in the morning, did a good inspection of my place, explained to me what they'll be focusing on cleaning and how they'll do it and gave me a quote. I've scheduled a cleaning with them next week and am looking forward to a nice clean home :) (Post-Cleaning Review) Jason and the cleaning lady - Dina showed up on time and they both reviewed the place together with me. Then Dina got started. I have to say - she is the BEST cleaning person EVER. Scrubbed the bathroom, the floors and kitchen as best humanly possible. She even moved papers around to clean surfaces below. I got tired just watching her clean. Three hours later, Jason came back and helped her finish up cleaning the windows, and giving the floors an extra scrub himself. Dina just wouldn't quit and made sure she got to all the spots. No other cleaning service comes close. read more

Aweful! They made me use 2 maids (at $35/each/hour) for the work one maid could have done. The girls get paid $10/hour and they charge you $70/hour. Do the math! The kicker was that the two girls made the master bed WITHOUT sheets! What were they thinking!?! I was so upset, I had to kick them out of my house! They didn't vacuum and didn't even throw out the trash. It was appalling! Total rip off. There is nothing "green" about them. read more

I hired them for a deep cleaning of our house, and they did a fantastic job with the cleaning itself. They cleaned parts of my house that I have *never* cleaned, and everything looked & smelled great! Although the cleaning team was fan-freaking-tastic, and I'm really happy with the results, I do have a major complaint about whoever is managing schedules: I had originally scheduled them to come between 11-12. The day before the cleaning, they called to see if they could come by any earlier in the day... I said, "sure!" So, Friday morning rolls around, and I wake up early in order to make sure all of my clutter is picked up before they got here (which was supposed to be at 10:30). I also rearrange my plans for afternoon errands (my foot's broken, so I have to have someone come with me to help). Then, I wait. And wait. And I get a call right before 11:00, saying they won't actually be able to arrive until almost noon. Which would have been fine, except I had JUST moved everything around to accommodate them at 10:30. Annoying. They'd be 5-stars otherwise. read more

I've been using Maid Green for six months. They came in the first time to do a deep cleaning and I agree with the reviewer that wrote, "They cleaned parts of my house that I have *never* cleaned, and everything looked & smelled great." Since that time my flat, which has a lot of antiques precariously placed, has been phenomenally clean. I'm surprised not a single antique has been broken in any way. The best part is coming home from a long day at work, and everything is spotless. Had the team three times so far and very satisfied with the result. Awsomeness: - Very clean in an eco friendly way - Takes credit card - Email savvy communication - Non judgmental :) - Our place was both dirty and messy. Dirty will be taken care of for good. You can ask the team to not touch your mess and clean around it, and you can still expect them to make your piles of stuff a bit neater. Hmmm: - At the moment they mostly work on weekdays 8-5 ish. More evening or weekend availability would be great. - Wish it was more affordable. We have a large one bedroom and we are getting monthly service at $150. If it was more affordable I'd do twice a month. - You want to be particularly clear about your appointment and arrangement, make sure you have set up periodic service. I thought we had monthly service set up only to find out that they were waiting for us to confirm. read more

I just had Maid Green clean my apartment today for the first time and they did an absolutely superb job cleaning my apartment!!! I'm always a little skeptical about hiring maid services, but Maid Green surpassed all of my expectations. I highly recommend Maid Green, they're professional, organized and go above and beyond to satisfy your needs in cleaning your home. I also LOVE that they use organic cleaning products! This is still a great cleaning service. I've used them for a year now and they have consistently been on time and left my home spotless. They are also a trusted group of men and women. I feel very safe handing them the keys and leaving them alone in my condo. I have never lost anything or found something to be missing. I'm addicted to green house cleaning. I've been using Maid Green since May of this year. The cleaning is extremely thorough and I'm impressed by their use of all natural products. During the cleaning three weeks ago, one of the maids broke a wooden clock that was given to me as a gift by the Dean of my college. Although they didn't acknowledge the accident immediately (I had to call them about it), they made the situation right, picking up the clock, taking it to Clockworld for repair, and returning it fixed with my next cleaning. A little early for a review, but I am very impressed thus far. Jason met with me within hours of my call, he was prompt, professional and process-oriented. Clearly they have put thought into the systemization of their service. Cleaning was done two days later - everything met or exceeded my standards. Also, they are slightly less expensive than the other maid service that I was forced to replace due to poor customer service. Warning: I shall be bursting your MaidGreen bubble. Blind Faithfuls should stop reading. In an effort to offset the daily stream of clutter left by my overworked housemates, myself and our ladyfriends, I contracted out to MaidGreen about 9 months ago. I was charmed by the green apple they left behind in what was a clearly spotless kitchen, living room and bathroom. Over the past several months, I have gotten discouraged, noting that the mirror in the bathroom, the dust in the corners of our living room and even the kitchen floor is no longer washed when they stop by. If it were not for the apple, I would not know they had "cleaned". I agree with the few that have felt safe leaving keys, etc. These folks are too lazy to dust the tv let alone walk off with it. Go ahead and try them out, but dont expect the service to improve just because you repeatedly ask them to wash the floors next time. read more

We first called Maid Green for a "deep clean" a couple of weeks before my due date. The house needed cleaning, and no way was I getting on my knees to scrub floors when I was 8 months pregnant. I also really like the fact that they use environmentally friendly cleaning products. They came, did a fabulous job - leaving my house smelling and looking beautiful - and though the price was initially more than I wanted to spend, it ended up being worth every penny. Since then we've had them come every few weeks and their performance has been inconsistent. Our house will be the sparkling clean image of perfection . . . or we'll come home and notice that they forgot to clean under the couch (dustbunnies!) or taken our (obviously unwashed) dishes out of the dishwasher and put them away in our cupboards. One time, they brought a "trainee," and not only took three to four hours as opposed to the usual two (which meant we came home while they were still cleaning. Not a huge deal, but still - I prefer to vacate to give them the space to clean w/o having to work around us), and they did a middling job. The guy also chided me for walking through the living room (ahem, MY living room, as I might point out) because he was worried I was going to dirty the floor after he just wiped it down. Weird. The cleaners also busted a lampshade and instead of owning up to it, just turned the damaged part to the wall so we didn't notice until hours later. The inconsistent service just can't justify that price point, no matter how green their products. So sadly, we'll have to bid farewell to Maid Green and find another housecleaner. However, I'd still recommend them to anyone looking for a one-time deep clean. read more

I had an OK experience with Maid green. They were supposed to do a "deep clean" in my house. They did do some good cleaning like dusting areas that I never get to dust but it seems like they didn't finish the job or they didn't see were dirt was. They left things undone like not cleaning all of the surfaces, In one of my kitchen counters there was crumbs and it was greasy. They didn't clean any surface were I have small items like ornaments, just to name a couple of things. I mean COME ON! this is supposed to be a deep clean!!!!. Also, I think they are overpriced since I have had similar/or better deep clean for half of the price. I am disappointed and won't use their service again. I think that if I was the manager I would make sure that the house is spotless after the cleaning so I give 100% satisfaction to the clients. read more

We recently discontinued their cleaning service because they frequently didn't fulfill the work order. In other words, things we asked to get cleaned just doesn't. We've tried to communicate this issue many times to them and it keeps happening still. We've used them for over 2 years now and I finally can't stand it anymore. Other little things bug me but I always let it go and never said anything. For example, they always misplace our items after cleaning. Here is an example - I have 2 big rugs in my bathroom, and every time after they clean the rugs they pile them in the middle of the bathroom instead of by the tub and sink where they originally were. Anyway, we are done - their prices are expensive but their service simply doesn't keep up. Stay away! read more

My housemates and I used Maid Green for about 6 months to a year around 2008. Things were fine for a while, and often they did an excellent job. At the beginning we were super impressed. Then... 1. Our dishware started to thin out. I figured out what was happening when I returned to my house to leave them their tip, mid-clean, and there were THREE bowls broken on the counter. I have no idea how this happened. They looked sort of guilty and apologized, but it was clear that if I hadn't been there, they'd just have thrown the bowls away and I'd never have known. When we came back later that afternoon, there was no note, no discount, no call from the manager. Just like it had been routine (which I expect it was). 2. My roommates were convinced their weed was going missing. I can't really say what I think happened in this regard, but I'll put it out there. 3. We all moved out (and did not hire Maid Green at our new place!), and I happened to mention that we were leaving before our last clean just to tell them not to be surprised that there wouldn't be any furniture in the place. I literally told them to do the same thing they always do, nothing special. One of my housemates wasn't ready when she was supposed to be, so she had a big pile of crap in one corner of a bedroom, and I told Maid Green to clean around it. (Figuring we could do a quick mop ourselves once roommate got her stuff out.) I did NOT ask for a deep clean and did NOT discuss any special treatment except to say we DIDN'T want any. Our bill for that day was $500 effing dollars. They refused to refund any of it since we were paying for the "hours" and a "move-out" clean (WTF!?!), and the maids had spent who knows how long moving my roommate's giant pile into a different corner so they could clean under and around it, which I specifically asked them not to do. This should have been a routine (and easier!) clean, but it cost 4 times our normal rate. Stay away if you value your money and your breakables!! read more

I was really not impressed with this service. 1)They were REALLY pushy about getting an in person estimate. I understand why they want to do this but I work, so fitting and estimate AND a cleaning on seperate days between 9-5 is just not possible for me. I even offered to pay for a certain amount of time and if they didn't finish, too bad for me. They agreed to this but then the day of the guy showed up and did the estimate before he would allow the cleaners to come up. Of course the estimate was 2.5 times the amount we discussed. But I had a house full of people coming so I was stuck. 2) The job was not that thorough. They boss had to have them go back and clean things 3 times but then later I noticed that there were missed items. 3) This may be picky but I thought this was super annoying, considering the rest. I have a duvee cover that I cleaned and put out on my bed to have them restuff with the actual duvee. I even showed the head guy about it. When I went to get into bed that night I realized that they had just laid the cover OVER the top of my actual duvee. Long story short...they were rediculously expensive, not accomodating and the cleaning wasn't that good. read more

I was thrilled to win but even more thrilled to learn that Maid Green donated it's services to help our neighborhood public school!! No one at Maid Green even has a kid enrolled at our school. I decided to blow the whole cleaning on a kitchen detail. Here is what I loved about Maid Green: -communicated with me via email; including sending reminder email. -they are really GREEN: arrived by Prius, used all their own green house cleaning materials, etc... -my kitchen sparkled! We just had our place cleaned by Maid Green. Right when I got home the place felt clean and the "citrusy" smell made it refreshing. Things that normally did not shine in our home did after the service and we clean our place on a normal basis. We have two children, a 3 year old and a 7 week old, and my 3-year old immediately commented on how good it smelled and how clean everything was. I am always concerned when cleaning my home with other products that my young children may have a reaction to the chemicals. I was relieved that the clean and fresh scent were not overpowering, but quite refreshing and calming. Some of the things I was most impressed with: - Kitchen and appliances were extremely clean and shiny. Previously, we had neglected cleaning our stove top and hood/range. I was amazed to see how spotless everything was after MaidGreen. They cleaned EVERYTHING in the kitchen, even the littlest things made a huge difference! - Bathrooms finally felt clean! Our bathtub is old and difficult to scrub, so again, it is something we often neglect to do a very thorough job of. However, MaidGreen cleaned the tub so well it was sparkling! - The cleaners even got down to hard-to-get corners (behind the television, under and behind the couches, etc). - Overall attention to detail. We called Maid Green for a deep cleaning of our home and they did a great job! We've hired other maid services and were less than impressed but Maid Green surpassed my expectations! They were on time and super nice and friendly. We walked in after they left and our home SMELLED clean. The cleaning products are organic and safe for pets and children which for me is a huge plus as I have two young children and two dogs. They were extremely professional from beginning to end. The ladies from Maid Green did an absolutely amazing job deep cleaning our house (my husband has habitually dirty feet since he wanders all over his shop barefoot, and our bathtub looked the way it did the day we moved in, which let me tell you is no mean feat). Finally a cleaning company you can trust! Maid Green did a fantastic job cleaning our 1 bedroom. It was a little difficult to schedule an appointment since you have to do an in person "walk though" with the owner where he takes down all your cleaning needs. On the day of the cleaning they were on time and I felt comfortable leaving them un-supervised in my home. The apartment was sparkling clean and smelled great. They are bonded and insured, English speaking and treat their employees well. It's quite a relief to find a company I can trust to clean my home right. read more

I had a really good experience with Maid Green, and, as they claimed they would, they really did "transform my home." It was a mess, and they did a detailed, top notch cleaning job. I even felt safe leaving them alone in our apartment while we went out for the day. This isn't some woman doing this out of the back of her truck-- it's a business they seem to take seriously. All that said, it was really expensive, and that's why I'm docking a star. I would love to hire them to clean our place on a regular, biweekly or monthly basis, but their prices are just too high, especially hearing what colleagues of mine are paying using other cleaners. read more

I talked with the owner, and I was wrong on the price of "extra's". They actually will throw in extras if they finish a job early (meaning if you happen to have a cleaner house than normal, they will stay and make it shine extra bright). The cleaning people are always very friendly and thorough, moving chairs and getting under the bed and couches. For almost a year now they have been coming to our house, and the job is always excellent. Thank you for making our home a nice place to come home to! read more

I have never written a negative review before, let alone such a negative review, but in addition to the poor service, the treatment endangered my pets, so I feel obliged to write. I used Maid Organic for years before they closed up shop so I'm used to having a cleaning service come in twice a month. They were great and I miss them, but as I said they closed up at the end of last year so I had to find a new service. Enter Maid Green. I contacted them end of May/beginning of June of this year. The first deep cleaning went great. Todd was there to start and came back at the end to do a walk through. The two cleaners were very nice and very thorough and I loved the way my apartment smelled. I talked to them then about the ins and outs of my apt, the main and most important thing being the protocol around the back door and my two cats. My cats are indoor cats and there is a large aggressve indoor/outdoor cat that lives in the apartment next door and spends a lot of time directly outside the back door. If given half a chance (ie the back door is open, or closed without locking), this aggressive cat will push his way into my apartment and fight with my cats, which is obviously dangerous to my cats, leaves everyone severely frazzled for days and also risks having my cats run out the back door to escape. This happened twice so I put a latch on the outside of the back door so I could take out the trash. Pretty simple system and it works. I told Todd and team that this was the number one priority, the one thing they needed to know about when cleaning my apartment. Fine. I told Todd I wanted to schedule them for bi-weekly cleanings and gave him a set of keys. Two weeks later I call the night before the scheduled cleaning just to doublecheck and Todd has forgotten that I wanted to schedule them regularly so it is not on the books. I re-iterate that yes, I do want them for regular service. He then asks me if I'll be there to let them in. I remind him that he already has a set of my keys. I'm a little alarmed about this memory gap since I really need to be sure that if anything they remember about the cat/back door issue. So again, I bring that up and stress that this is extremely important. Todd remembers, agrees, and assures me that they will take care. Things are fine for a couple of cleanings then I come home one day when the cleaning was supposed to be scheduled, but no cleaning took place. I call and leave a message on the answering machine. This was Friday and I don't hear back from them until Monday. Todd explains that the person who was going clean didn't show up for work and they forgot to call me and let me know. This person has now been fired and it won't happen again. I didn't really care that much that the person didn't show one time, just wanted to know what happened. More importantly, AGAIN I speak to Todd regarding the importance of the cat/door issue since it's going to be someone new cleaning my apartment and that makes me nervous. I tell him that I would prefer to have the same people cleaning because of this and Todd assures me again telling me that while they can't guarantee the same people everytime they are very aware of this and that my file has a big note on it about it, everyone will be taken through and shown what to do, yadayadayada. I tell him: "I can't stress enough how important this is." I know this a long review but if you've read it up to now, here's the pay off: I come home after the latest cleaning to find the agressive cat from next door sprawled on top of my bed!!!!!!!! INSIDE MY APT. ON MY BED. My cats are nowhere to be seen. In shock, I shoo the agressive cat out. After this one of my cats comes out from his hiding place but I spend the next 15 minutes frantically calling and searching for the other one. Finally do find her (thank god) but they are both completely freaked and it will take a bit for them to get back to normal. When I called Todd, he was very apologetic and explained that there was a new person who cleaned my apt. today and that he had spoken to that person about it and had thought that someone else had also spoken to that person, but apparently not. Needless to say I canceled my service. The one other thing that I found a lacking is that after hearing what happened, and after several minutes of conversation, it was me who finally had to say, "I'm assuming I won't be charged for today's cleaning." He agreed. They are nice and I have to say the people they hire really do an excellent job when it comes to cleaning, but their disorganization led to lack of care (downright recklessness) with my home and my pets that is beyond unacceptable. I need to be able to trust a service that comes into my home twice a month and this one definitely isn't it. read more

They might be crooks .The silly thing is they shot themselves in the foot. I had two other places for them to clean next door..If they were honest they could have had all 3 places and me as a regular customer..I am glad they showed their true colors the first time..Apparently they like to leave without discussing the first job.I don't know what time they left even though I was 25 meters away.I gave them my cell phone number and ask them to call me when finished,that I would be next door or in the garden.It seems unusual to me for them to leave without telling me,especially the first time.They say they waited for me which apparently they charged me for or their drive time.They did not clean 2 1/2 hours.Maybe I should have sat with them and wasted the time .Why have a service if you have to be with them?They said there was no excuse and they offered to send a supervisor to come back and do a walk through and look at the other places to clean.That doesn't solve me seeing them leave.As far as cleaning goes,it was average to good.I am looking for another house cleaner. read more

On a positive note, I found them to be organized and professional. I'll start off there. If you're only doing a one-time cleaning, you might be OK with these guys. Love the environmentally friendly products, don't like the price. If you're interested in this, you can do the research on your own and provide products for your service to use. OK, now the negative. I get the feeling that the people who work for them have never cleaned a house before and/or don't care to. The first time, my bed was made exactly backwards--flat sheet on the mattress, fitted sheet over that then mattress pad, all topped off neatly by the blanket and the spread. I figured it was an anomaly, told them about it and it didn't really happen again. There were a couple times it was great and clean but it was just too inconsistent. Ultimately, I just never really felt like it was that clean,especially considering the high cost. Cleaner than it was when they got there, yes. Clean as it was when my previous cleaning service in Chicago--one woman operation, in a house twice as big, for half the cost, I might add--no. read more

We have only used Maid Green once so far and were really impressed with the job they did. They did every single thing they said they would, including moving furniture to get to those extra dusty areas. The test of course, is to see if this type of thoroughness lasts more than five visits.
