My husband and I were hesitant to try Mai Thai after all of the lack luster yelp reviews- but our friends who recently visited Thailand raved about MT and we decided to give it a try. They stated that MT was their favorite Thai restaurant in Augusta and the food tasted most authentic. The atmosphere is nothing fancy. The server we had was friendly and prompt and she gave us suggestions and recommendations. The food came out quickly and was hot. Portion sizes were very good. One entree could be split by two people - but the food is so good you will probably finish your whole plate on your own. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai, and as someone else previously reviewed, it does have a pink hue to it. I did not mind the pinkish-hue. The flavor was fresh and robust. I asked for it mildly spicy and it was perfection. My friend ordered the drunken noodle and it was incredibly flavored as well. I am very glad that we ended up trying Mai Thai - as I think this will become a regular stop for us. I'm hoping this review will help offset some of the other negative reviews - because I really wish we would have tried this place sooner! My advice, give this place a try! read more

I miss this place. I haven't been able to come back since I moved away 3 years ago. Stopped by for lunch today. I'd give this 5 stars but I have to take one star away for the service. There are 11 or 12 table set ups in the store but they only had 1 waitress working. We came in around 11:30 and by noon, all the tables were taken up. The poor waitress didn't even have time to clear the vacant tables for new customers. It was about 30 minutes from the time we sat down to getting food. Lunch options are available for $7.95. Unfortunately, unlike other Asian restaurants' lunch specials, all you get is the entree - no side of soup or spring roll. I love the noodle dishes here. I highly recommend N5 (can't recall the name now) or the Drunken Noodles. There's a curry based noodle dish that is also really good and is available on the lunch menu. It's flat rice noodles stirfried with ground beef, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and green peas and a whole lot of spicy. I'm not a big fan of curry but I love this dish. This is my favorite Thai place in the area because they are consistently good and the service is also consistently good. They have all the usual Thai favorites and I usually order the fresh spring rolls (not deep fried), the Tom Yum Gai soup that is a coconut and lime and lemongrass with mushrooms and I order it with chicken, and I really like their Drunken Noodles with tofu. They do a great job of pressing their tofu so it had a great texture and I love how they have a little bit of char on their vegetables in the dish. I order it medium spicy which is enough to give it a kick for me but not send me gulping water. It's too spicy for my kids so it also lets me not share. read more

Ordered through Door Dash once it was delivered I discovered spoiled smelly mealy dried out shrimp the Pad Thai had no sauce and WAS PEPTO PINK noodles and PEPTO PINK shrimp and tasted like nothing the noodles were stuck together In A huge clump. The spring rolls once you tore it in half was empty and the container was dirty! I called and asked for my money to be refunded and they told me NO!!!! My dog throws up better looking things!!!!!!! Don't go unless you can spend the night in the hospital with food poisoning! The pictures do not do the discussing food justice and the smell! Just another crappy Columbia County Restaurant! I was honestly surprised by this place. My expectations were low it being a strip mall joint, but I now see that was no need. Friendly and attentive service even though there was only one server and five or six tables along with togo orders. The food was very good and had an authentic taste. I loved the Sticky Rice and Mango dessert. I got the Kao Pad Gai, which is just veggies with chicken and white rice. It was really good. I typically go for Pad Thai when dining at a Thai Restaurant. We have only done takeout (due to COVID) but have always been pleased with the flavor and quality of ingredients in their food. The pad Thai is delicious, the massaman is good (a tiny bit too sweet for me--I would probably ask them to add pineapple next time around), we also love the nam sod (tangy and spicy) and the mango sticky rice is amazing for dessert! I went to this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the spring rolls and the sauce that it was served with was delicious. I ordered pad kra prow and asked for it to be pretty spicy and it was! It had really good flavor and was filling. Lunch prices are very reasonable and staff was very friendly and attentive. I would come back to try other things on their menu. Went back again a few weeks later and ordered the Tom Kha Kai soup. While the flavor was delicious, it was lacking a little in ingredients. Gosh I feel like such a negative nancy when I am reviewing the Asian restaurants in Augusta. I mean, I am so into the IDEA of good Thai, Chinese and Japanese food in the area, I just haven't had the actual pleasure of HAVING good Thai, Chinese, or Japanese food in the area. The decor is nice, the guy who took my order for pickup over the phone was friendly. It seemed like a nice place to sit and eat, and the inside makes you completely forget it's in a strip mall. They were very quick to have my order ready. And, for a small appetizer and a noodle dish I paid $20, seems a bit steep, I feel like I would get the same thing for about $15 in the NYC area, but I am not going to let $5 color my opinion. What's really coloring my opinion is, well, the food was, just plain bland. Thai food is supposed to be chock full of flavor, not just spice. This seemed like they started with all the correct ingredients for my Pad Kee Mao, but they just decided not to put in more than 1/10 of the various flavorings and sauces. The noodles were properly cooked, good variety of vegetables, but too oily and not enough flavor. I mean, it is ok if you are really jonesing for some Thai food and you have no plans to leave Augusta in the near future, but it's definitely not what I would call "good" Thai. Allow me to start off by saying this is the only decent Thai place I have found thus far in Augusta. I very much enjoyed it and will return soon, however, in the grand scheme of things, it is very middle of the road when it comes to Thai food. The Tom Ka was delicious and easily my favorite part of the meal. Also the beer, singha or something like that, was one of the best Asian beers I have had, very very tasty! Though I was not too bothered by it, there was only one server taking care of the entire restaurant which included a large party next time me and another 5 or 6 tables full as well. As such, he was completely swamped and took him a while to devote his full attention to us. Once we put in our orders though, everything came very fast. Just took a while to get to that point. The soup out shined the curry, as one was delicious and the other was just good (but not great) Still With so few options here in Augusta, I will take an average Thai place over a generic chain restaurant any day of the week! Tried to order food to go this evening. Put in an order for $50 dollars worth of food, asked to have chili powder put into bag on side. Was told they would have to charge me a $1 for it..... it sits on the tables and costs hardly anything..... Out of principle and the fact the owner is a cheap sob we will not be eating there again. I have been going to this restaurant frequently for almost 20 years. It has always been consistent until a recent change in either management or ownership. Now the quality of the ingredients (namely the shrimp) has declined significantly. Also, it is clear that there is a new chef as some of the classics (the A6 beef salad for one) are significantly different than they were before. If it ain't broke... There was nothing resembling Thai food at all on either plates. Not in technique, preparation, ingredients, presentation or flavor. My family and I visited this restaurant for a lovely afternoon lunch on a Saturday. When we arrived, we were not immediately greeted by a server. After being seated, we were given a couple of menus to look over to find out what we wanted to order. Our children were not offered booster seats, so we had to improvise and get them ourselves. This should have been red flag number two in addition to not being greeted immediately. Our server, after taking our appetizer and drink orders, came back with two adult-sized styrofoam cups for our two year old and four year old to drink from. This should have been red flag number three. However, we wanted to give this place a shot because we heard the food was good despite the service. After receiving our food, which wasn't bad but it wasn't great, our server decided to disregard many of our additional needs. She did not offer to refill our drinks, or bus our table effectively. Again, the food was average, and I say this because I have eaten in many Thai restaurants before, and the food here seem to be very Americanized. Case in point, our rice that was served to us was not even jasmine rice. After eating our food, it took us having to ask our server to bring us to go boxes. When she returned, she did not bring an adequate amount of containers for our food, and she did not even offer to prepare them for our departure. We had to bus our own table and box our own food. After receiving our check, I proceeded to pay the amount asked for. I was wearing clothing highly suggestive of military service and gave every appearance of the same. This restaurant openly advertises a ten percent discount for active duty military members of which I was not offered or asked for a discount and it was not removed from my bill. Given these factors, I decided to leave my server a minimum of 10% tip. Right after signing and annotating the amount of gratuity, my server looked at the amount as I was turning my back. She did not even have the courtesy to wait until I had fully departed the restaurant before looking at the amount of gratuity that I left her. It is also worthy to note that the bathrooms we're very poorly maintained, and were badly in need of cleaning and repair. Both myself and my wife have had many years of combined dining experience as servers ourselves, and we can attest firmly that this is by far some of the worst service that we have ever received. I stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon since it was close to where my boyfriend was getting a haircut and we had an hour to kill before his appointment. It's located in a big shopping center with plenty of parking which was nice. The service was a bit slow but there was only one girl working with about 7-8 tables and they had a help wanted sign on the window so we definitely felt for her. We ordered a pad thai and a green curry to share between the two of us. The pad thai came out first and it was this off white color that I wasn't expecting and very dry. All the noodles were stuck together and hard to pull apart and the flavor was pretty lacking in my opinion. The green curry took a lot longer and we were basically done with the pad thai before it came out. The flavor of the curry wasn't bad but it was very watery and just nothing special overall. I love this place for the freshness of its food. The spice quotient is awesome especially given that I am from India! Their curries taste like they made the base right that minute, very fresh and their pad thai is fabulous! The soups are a great add on. I wasnt much into the satay or other appetizers. This place is in a space in a grocery store strip mall. The people are nice and the service is good. I have had several items from here and to me the place is authentic. The comments that its not authentic Thai food are, imo, absurd. The people who own and cook here are from Thailand and from what I have tasted of Thailand, the food closely matches what you will find there, giving variations to the region you are at in Thailand.
