Wednesday 20, 2024 Had lunch Shout out to Anna the cashier who gives us newbies Info regarding New members. She explained how the food was served there. Pizza was grab and go by the slice peperoni or cheese. Other foods we needed to make a choice of a grilled sandwich, Angus burgers, chicken tenders with fries plate, children's plate. If you purchase a sovereign cup refill cost is $1.99 no cash card only. It was very relaxing They had benches available to sit and dine with a covered shelter.

No it isn't gourmet and no it isn't cheap but yes it's a very decent dining option in an outstanding location within the zoo.

We shared an order of chicken strips and extra fries.

Mahale Cafe is about as busy an eatery you'll find at the Los Angeles Zoo. I've eaten here on numerous occasions and as annual zoo members, we receive a 10% discount when we show our cards at the register. Our most recent visit on yesterday, was an order of chicken strips, which come with fries. We also ordered extra fries, a soft drink with refills, and shared. Everything came piping hot from the grill, and was brought to us at our table. Way more fries then we needed, with chicken strips a bit over fried, and considerably smaller then the ones I had just months ago at one of their other cafes, Zoo Grill. Hopefully a fluke of my favorite menu choice over the years. You can also order burgers, pizza, hot dogs, etc. One note that may be a distraction for some, is the staff member that wipes down the tables. He shuffles around dragging his feet, literally; hovering at times, ready to pounce on each table as its vacated by diners. Which is kind of a good thing. He's been here for years, never says a word, and the foot dragging does get a bit annoying at times. But at least he's doing his job; in a Frankenstein sort of way. I'm not trying to demean him, just a heads up for those not use to him as I've become.

I have one star because the food was OK. The Cafe is located inside of LA Zoo, close to giraffe. The owner was VERY impatient when we were ordering 26 same orders for a group of school campers. We were surprised the way they treated us and kids. We were taking kids to LA Zoo for fun and for education purpose. If you are not patient to kids, I advise you to change another location. Good luck, I absolutely will not come back again.

Actually pretty tasty and decent food not insane prices and lots of drink selection. Cheese pizza was really good although the dough could have been a little thinner but I needed the carbs for energy to walk around the zoo. Nice and clean and good seating.

Probably one of the "best" places to eat at the LA Zoo. They have burgers, pizza, chicken tenders and even serve 2 different types of beers on tap. Its expensive. For a-okay burgers and some nasty fries it was 20.00. But when you're hungry I guess it doesn't matter. The burgers were alright, but the fries were gross. The condiments were left outside and they are not refrigerated or cooled. Ketchup, mustard and ranch are all served at a hot temperature because they are located outside of the cafe. They all tasted weird and hot and like there could be bacterial growth on them. I would steer clear of the condiments station. Anyways, its like a cafeteria style type of thing. You choose what you want on a tray and proceed to pay. The lady working behind the counter got annoyed with me because i "touched" one of the trays. I was simply looking at the chicken tenders and wanted to get a better look because they looked dried, oily, and crusty. I didn't touch the food with my hands what-so-ever. she quickly snapped that "if you touch it you have to buy it or they will throw it away." I politely apologized and then she gave me a nasty look and didn't even proceed to "throw away" what i touched like she claimed she was going to. Bring your own food- you are allowed to bring whatever you want into the park. don't deal with these long lines, hot weather, and bitchy employees. that's the best tip i can give u!

WHEN: Sun Dec 14th @11am…read more We have just arrived to SoCal by car, and before checking into our Airbnb, we figure we swing by this spot located in a ghost kitchen to pick up some lunch. After placing an order on their website, you would park in the back lot where it's free parking, and enter a tempt room of lockers. I wish they included this in the text where you are to CALL THEM to let them know you've arrived so they can bring your order out to you. It's not like the other establishment in this shared kitchen where they just leave it in one of the order cubbies to pick up. So here I am like an idiot just standing and waiting in the empty room for my order. I didn't know until I checked my email and it said to call them in my receipt. Oh well. Anyway, here's what I ordered: BASTURMA BRISKET - $29 Hand Carved Basturma Brisket, Pickled Persian Cucumber, Chaman Spread, and Swiss Cheese. Served in freshly baked pita bread. I know, what kind of sandwich costs nearly $30!? But let me tell you, you are getting both quality and quantity in this bad boy. This reads 2 people, and those 2 will enjoy this thoroughly. Yes, it's a bit on the saltier side, but that's why you have the cucumber to balance it out a bit and the warm and soft pita bread. The brisket was tender and I loved the spread (which you can buy!). It's such a unique take on the common pastrami sandwich. So remember: 1. Order online (no phone calls) 2. Park in the back 3. CALL THEM, letting you know you have arrived. 4. Enter through the big doors (its unlocked) 5. Wait for them to come out to retrieve order. 6. Enjoy!

So delicious, fresh and high quality. Loved the basturma sandwich and will definitely come back…read moreagain. There's decent parking around and there are two seating areas in the parking lot. The only downside is the price, it's pretty pricey considering it's not a restaurant and you're just picking up a sandwich. But it's the beginning of their business so they need the funding so I didn't mind paying for it.

Between a ciabatta loaf, it is different and non-traditional. It tastes fatty and hearty as Pastrami should be. It is evenly seasoned and paired with a modern twist; they call their pepper relish. Portioned as a single serving, it is not your deli-sized sandwich like it should be. Other sandwiches and savory items are equally creative and of good quality. There is no doubt that there is great-tasting food here, and you can notice the attention to detail. Unfortunately, you will spend a premium here. Feeling the pinch is as lacking as the need for a nice, fluffy Rye with a crispy crust.

I mentioned this because we missed it on one of our attempts. Finally, on Sunday evening, my husband and I had a chance to visit Butcher and Booze. Very interesting store, with a delicious smell. There is a huge section of drinks where you can find very unique wines and alcoholic beverages. They also have a section of Japanese drinks, and in another corner, different kinds of unique seasonings, BBQ charcoal, and other BBQ supplies. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Next to the drinks section, there are several tables available indoors and two tables on the sidewalk for outdoor dining to enjoy your meals. Their food menu is very interesting, and we tried the Philly cheesesteak and pastrami sandwiches (which they prepare completely in-house from A to Z). The sandwiches were super delicious, juicy, and full of flavor. One thing that surprised me was the amount of salt they used -- it was exactly the right amount, and we didn't get thirsty after eating them. These sandwiches are some of the best we've tried so far, and I highly recommend giving them a try. I noticed a huge samovar (large kettle) and another kettle in the corner of the open kitchen, and I asked about them. Argisht, who noticed my interest and who I believe is behind the kitchen and the delicious food success there, started a very warm and helpful conversation with us and surprised us by serving cups of tea. The tea tasted super soft and delicious. If you have ever tried Middle Eastern tea, you will love this tea. Luckily, they are selling it in the store, if I am not wrong it was Sri Lanka tea, which I have never seen in any store around Glendale or Burbank. Thank you for the great food, awesome store, and very positive and friendly service. With just one visit, Butcher and Booze will become one of your usual spots, so don't miss it!

We came here on Christmas Eve hoping to try their sandwiches but to also buy some meat as a white elephant gift. First off we were greeted warmly by the staff - not just the cashier but every staff member working behind the counter. On top of that, they gave us a shot of cognac for my husband and I to try. We decided to try buy some wagyu burger patties for the white elephant (we ended up winning these back during our white elephant - they were excellent!). The patties were juicy, rich, and so tasty! Can't wait to try other cuts! When we checked out, they offered us two small complimentary bottles of champagne and some produce from their refrigerated area. this was so kind of them to do so. This place is like your one stop shop - hot food, butcher, alcoholic drinks, liquor, and other cooking goods like seasonings, caviar, butter etc. Unfortunately they were not serving sandwhiches that day so we didn't get to try but we will definitely be coming back to try! Thanks so much to the staff and Butcher and Booze for treating us like fam.
