Mahaffey's is a great bar. The staff is very personable which is a reason to go back all in itself. Their happy hour is one of the best around! You get 3 10oz draft beers for $6. The selection of drafts isn't even miller lites, so you're getting good quality beer for cheap prices. They even have happy hour during the weekends which is awesome. Their rosemary fries are nice to munch on while downing your 3fers. The grill is right up front so you can see them prepare your food if you're in the bar area. They also some times have specialty events they hold in the upstairs bar which are fun to attend. If you haven't already, I would definitely put this bar in your happy hour schedule! read more

The beer selection and happy hour, already mentioned, is what got me in the door. It's really worth the trip all by itself. But, the food is really, really good. The last time I visited I had a Thai curry scallop special that was really to die for. Fresh and delicious and cooked on a little tiny grill behind the bar and a closet in the back. I don't want to say anything nice about this place because I want this place all to myself. We got there around 4 and the bar (my favorite place to sit) was already full. The beer selection was pretty good and there was a few I haven't seen before. I would suggest the Pollinator! Thankfully we saw an order of chips and queso go out. I usually stay away from chips and queso unless I'm at a Mexican restaurant but they looked too good to pass up. They were out of queso so we got the crab dip. The "chips" are actually fried pita and it was one of the best crab dips I've ever had. We also split the crab cake sliders and they were great as well. They were lightly fried and had cornmeal on them. Yum. Instead of tartar we asked for the jalapeno ranch which was pretty spicy. We were there for happy hour that had 3 beers for $5. We dont get to Canton often, but had heard great things about this spot so made it a point to get down there. We had heard it was very much a locals hangout, and it definitely had that feel when we got there. Very small place downstairs, but not cramped. Expected to get a bit of a cold shoulder because we weren't regulars but it was just the opposite. Patrons were nice, and the owners/bartenders were amazing!! Amazing beer selection and you cannot beat their happy hour. Anywhere! We only ate appetizers but they were vey good. Went a few more times and thanks to the wonder of social media I ended up on the running team that they sponsored at the Baltimore Sole Of The City run. They opened up post race for us to drink and had some killer pancakes and bacon for the whole team!! Great place run by even better people. read more

The best kept happy hour secret around town. 3 top shelf micro brews for $4 everyday. Food specials that are not only delicious but priced well. Warm and inviting environment from Wayne M. to the regulars. It can get busy but if it didn't it wouldn't be good, right? Drinks and service are great. The $5 wing Wednesday is a great value and the wings are great, some of the best I've had since I've lived in Baltimore. It can be a bit tight and cramped when the bar is busy that's my only complaint is there isn't a lot of room to move around when it's packed. read more

I visited Mahaffey's for the first time last week. Their drink special ($6 for 3, 10 oz. beers) is a good deal. While they have a number of beers to choose from, not all of their draft beers are available. The bartenders/owners are super nice and make you feel welcome. Definitely a neighborhood gem! I made my first visit here during the third day of Baltimore Beer Week 2015. Mahaffey's has a decent selection of craft beers on draft and reasonable prices. The bartender on this day, Alice, will remain one of my favorite bartenders of all time. She has such a great personality and she did something I've never had another bartender do before. She made me feel like I was a local/regular. It took me by surprise that she remembered my name after coming back two more times throughout the day. Alice provided excellent customer service and I will be sure to visit Mahaffey's next time I visit Baltimore. We love coming here! We come for the drinks but the food always smells amazing. They have a great rotating selection of craft beers. I am a sour beer ONLY drinker I just don't like regular beer and they always have a option or two for me when 99% of places have ZERO sour beers. They also introduced my to a new favorite beer of mine Captain Lawrence Rosso E Monroe which can't be bought in Maryland unfortunately. We will continue visiting Mahaffeys every time we go downtown though it does seem to be getting more and more crowded and has been hard to find a seat. read more

Amazing burgers/fries/frickles! I love their mushroom and swiss burgers and their selection of beer is always changing. Their sampling nights and the prices for them are great and it gives you a pre-game for what you'd like to order :) I will say you should probably take a breather before you leave. The beer has a fairly decent to high alcohol content which, while fantastic, gives reason to wait a bit if you're driving home. It's a pretty small place so you might have to wait for a table but generally cozy and really friendly. read more
