What I didn't care for... I received my Mongolian beef early. My husband didn't get his orange chicken for 20ish minutes. I had a few bites but waited, we typically eat together. After 15 minutes, the eggrolls came out hot and fresh, now my food is getting cooler and the hubby still hasn't received his meal. All of this to say, consider making the easier dish later so they can be done together or hold meals until they can be served together. Excellent food, but the organization missed the mark. We made a 2:00 PM reservation on Christmas Day and arrived expecting a relaxed dining experience. Instead, we were greeted with a 15-minute countdown to place our order--followed shortly after by the announcement that the restaurant closes at 2:30 PM, which came after the food was served. From a hospitality standpoint, this felt less like a reservation and more like a timed challenge. If the kitchen and dining room need to wrap up by 2:30, a last reservation of 1:00 PM would better align expectations and allow guests to actually enjoy the meal. Went in last night for take out and everything was great. Ty was either the owner or manager and made us feel welcome and spared no expense to make sure we had a great experience. He offered suggestions and told us if there was anything we did not like to let him know. We had a lot of different things. The Red Devil Beef was super flavorful and like nothing I had before. It was a spicy but doable and full of yum. We also had the beef flat noodle, black bean chicken garlic, rangoons and green beans. When I say everything was cooked perfectly I mean everything. When I started writing the review I had it as 4 stars. I am often hesitant on giving a 5 on my first visit. Due to Ty taking personal accountability and catering to make everything just right I felt the 5 was well deserved. My only feedback is I felt the prices were just a little higher than expected. Placed a relatively large order online (appetizers and main meals over $150) which was ready as soon as expected. Nicely packaged, easy to transport without spilling all over my car. Once home the flavor of all the dishes, fried rice, black bean shrimp, orange chicken and sesame chicken was amazing. The Szechuan dumplings were fresh and that sauce was very tasty. Did expect it to be spicier. Only down side were the veggie egg rolls that could have been cooked a little longer and the dipping sauce, hhhmmm had better. What a pleasant surprise this experience was! We had an appointment nearby that fell through and we were all dressed up with nothing to do so I looked up asian restaurants in the area and came upon Mah-Jong in McKinney. I sure am glad that we tried it out. From the sweet and warm welcome to the cleanliness throughout, the creative use of Mah-Jong tiles as wall decor, to the delicious and fresh food; this place provided an experience that we will surely try again. We started out with the Famous Szechuan Chicken Dumpling that was dubbed "A MUST TRY!" Well, we decided we MUST TRY! It was one of the most delicious dumplings and we appreciated that it had chicken instead of pork. It had a superb sauce that tasted a bit like peanut. It was an amazing appetizer. My husband had the San Bei Chicken Clay Pot with basil, bell peppers, onion, bamboo shoot, mushroom, broccoli and fried tofu; and it was so delicious with lots of fresh vegetables and contained whole pods of star anise. It was a hit. I was pretty impressed with the fried tofu in the dish and would probably order something containing that again. I ordered the Beijing Style Crispy Duck Breast that was served with Mandarin Pancakes, scallion, cucumber and hoison sauce so that you could make your own little rolls and eat with your hands. There is something about eating meals like this with your hands that just makes everything more comforting and delcious. Has someone done a study on that? If not, someone should! This little Chinese place is absolutely the best Chinese I've had in this area. The food tastes so fresh from the vegetables to the meats to the sauces. I had the chicken and string beans one visit and the Kung pao chicken the next, and both were very delicious. I also had the won ton soup which is the best I have ever tasted. I'm not the only one who thinks so as 3 came in to place a to go order for just the soup over my two visits! Love the lo mein! The staff there is very kind and attentive as well. We love Mahjong and have been going to the Plano location for almost a decade now. This location is new and everything we love about Mahjong. There's a huge void for Chinese food in McKinney and I'm excited to have this location close to us. I recommend the spicy hot chili chicken, the xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and the gyoza, all great. My kids are fans of the chicken fried rice. The egg drop soup is also excellent. I called to place a to-go order but got no answer, so I drove over. The place looked closed, but the door was open, okay, whatever, no big deal. I placed my order, and the guy gave me a strange look when I asked for chicken fried rice and orange chicken. Please explain how two orders of orange chicken and two chicken fried rice added up to $116 without a tip. That's insane. This did not match the prices on their site or menu. Make sure you ask for prices before ordering, because this just didn't add up. Not cool. On the other hand, the environment seems nice. My family and I came here on Christmas Day. First off this was their opening day from what the waiter told us! I would've never guessed. Everything was perfect, service was great, food came out in a timely fashion, everything was delicious and the presentation was great. We literally ordered every dumpling they had and even ordered the famous Szechuan chicken dumplings twice. We loved the sauce with that one. I really enjoyed the soup dumplings as well. We also got the chicken lettuce wraps which were really good as well. Veggie egg rolls were nice and crispy. We ordered three entrees to share, the Merlot beef, orange chicken and the duck. The beef entree was hands down my favorite, it had such good flavor. The orange chicken was surprisingly good, normally I'm not a fried chicken with a sauce type person but my husband insisted. And the duck was prepared nicely, personally I would've preferred the Bao buns instead of the wraps but all in all it was still good. But the duck was my least favorite. I really hope this place stays, and I can't wait to come back to try other dishes. This is a nicer sit down vs take out, so know that the prices and taste will reflect that. Ordered the following: 1) Szechuan chicken dumplings - $9 for greasy dumplings with tough skins and measly bit of chicken. The Beijing Style Crispy Duck Breast was next level -- crispy skin, juicy meat, full of flavor. The Mah-Jong Orange Chicken had the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and it actually stayed crispy, which almost never happens with takeout. The Classic Crab Rangoon and Crispy Egg Rolls were golden, crunchy, and just hit the spot. The Lo Mein was flavorful and cooked perfectly, not greasy at all. So what do you get for a few bucks more. It's quality. All the vegetables were fresh. They were abundant as well. Some Chinese places you order a meal and there are a handful of vegetables in the dish. Here it was abundant. The protein portions were a bit lighter. For example we ordered shrimp. We are really missing the previous Chinese restaurant establishment before this new place took over. We decided to order take out. The portion is so small compared to the cost. We do not recommend this place if you are wanting take out Chinese food. We should have not to order as soon as we saw the very limited menu options but we thought to give it a try. This is a generous 4 -star rec...mostly for the friendly and helpful service. Mah Jong has been operating in McKinney for about 6 months. We wanted to like it but I'm always skeptical about Chinese restaurants in the suburbs - is the food Americanized or authentic? I think the answer here is that the food was OK but really lacked in flavor and that unmistakable "wok hei" or breath of the wok. That's the flavor from the wok that builds up as stir-fried foods season the wok as it cooks. Lemon Chicken - We asked how it was prepared and the server said that it was like "tonkatsu" which is a Japanese breaded cutlet. She said that the chicken was breaded. OH NO! That is not Chinese lemon chicken which is lightly floured or lightly battered with a lemon sauce poured over. Didn't order it. Best item was the Shu Mai - 4 to an order. We had to wait for it, probably because it was made fresh. Pretty good. The other dishes - lacked in flavor, from Shrimp with lobster sauce - (the sauce was very watery) to the beef flat noodles. Restaurant is decorated with mah jong tiles. Restrooms are spotless. Server said just a lot of elderly people frequent the restaurant. No young people. We discovered the McKinney restaurant from an ad in a mail flyer. I had been to the Mahjong restaurant in Plano and it was fantastic! When I saw the ad, we went two days later to try out the McKinney restaurant. It was exactly the same as the Plano site. When we went it had only been open for 4 weeks. Since then we have been three times. We've tried the Mu Shu pork, the Lemon Chicken the dumplings, wonton soup and Kung Pao chicken. Each was perfect. The staff is very friendly and eager to explain things to you. The restaurant replaced the old Ichi Bon. Please try this place out. You won't be disappointed read more

We decided to try this new Chinese restaurant for our girls night out, and it was fantastic. The food was fresh and flavorful. And the service was outstanding. Our waiter Kai was super nice and attentive with all our requests. McKinney location needs new management, now! I made a reservation a month in advance for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner for 5 people so they should have expected the place to be full right??? Apparently not. The service was terrible, terrible, terrible!! It was so bad that people stood next to us by the door waiting for a table the entire time we were seated. I said seated not eating because we didn't get to eat together! They brought out meals one person at a time. The waitress and the kitchen made so many mistakes on our orders that we lost count. We never got egg rolls we ordered. People were furious and screaming at the front cashier staff to let them be seated for their reservations as well. An entire family of 7+ just left while waiting to be seated because they had a baby. They should have given us our money back. This is sad for us because we were regular customers at the Plano location which has been amazing for many years, so we were hoping for the closer location in McKinney to be good as well even though they don't serve the same menu. The famous dumplings were dry! The crab Rangoons were fishy, yuk! My shrimp pomelo was fine but I ate alone! There is no excuse for not having staff and backup resources for Christmas Eve in north Dallas when you know that it will be busy all night from opening to closing. Egg rolls were crispy on the outside but insides were too mushy for our liking. Wonton soup was outstanding. I ordered Pomelo Shrimp, a fried shrimp meal in a delicious sweet sauce. Awesome!
