San Bei Chicken Clay Pot with enough to take home!
    LeeAnne W.

What a pleasant surprise this experience was! We had an appointment nearby that fell through and we were all dressed up with nothing to do so I looked up asian restaurants in the area and came upon Mah-Jong in McKinney. I sure am glad that we tried it out. From the sweet and warm welcome to the cleanliness throughout, the creative use of Mah-Jong tiles as wall decor, to the delicious and fresh food; this place provided an experience that we will surely try again. We started out with the Famous Szechuan Chicken Dumpling that was dubbed "A MUST TRY!" Well, we decided we MUST TRY! It was one of the most delicious dumplings and we appreciated that it had chicken instead of pork. It had a superb sauce that tasted a bit like peanut. It was an amazing appetizer. My husband had the San Bei Chicken Clay Pot with basil, bell peppers, onion, bamboo shoot, mushroom, broccoli and fried tofu; and it was so delicious with lots of fresh vegetables and contained whole pods of star anise. It was a hit. I was pretty impressed with the fried tofu in the dish and would probably order something containing that again. I ordered the Beijing Style Crispy Duck Breast that was served with Mandarin Pancakes, scallion, cucumber and hoison sauce so that you could make your own little rolls and eat with your hands. There is something about eating meals like this with your hands that just makes everything more comforting and delcious. Has someone done a study on that? If not, someone should! The service here was impeccable. We took some broccoli beef and Mongolian beef for my parents to try and they said it was incredible and lasted them a few meals.

In general flavor was ok, not authentic Chinese food! We like appetizer better than main dishes. Dumplings and the sauces were good, edamame was good portion. Main dishes we liked green bean. Honestly pretty disappointed for the San bei chicken out of all the dishes. Meat was good quality though. Staff was nice but only one server at front to run.

This little Chinese place is absolutely the best Chinese I've had in this area. The food tastes so fresh from the vegetables to the meats to the sauces. I had the chicken and string beans one visit and the Kung pao chicken the next, and both were very delicious. I also had the won ton soup which is the best I have ever tasted. I'm not the only one who thinks so as 3 came in to place a to go order for just the soup over my two visits! Love the lo mein! The staff there is very kind and attentive as well. The music is not loud at all which makes this a great place to get some work done while I eat. Found my regular spot!

We tried Mah-jong's and enjoyed it very much. We ordered a variety of the dumplings offered, hot & sour soup, egg rolls, chicken fried rice and sesame chicken. Atmosphere and service were welcoming and the menu has many options I'd like to comeback and try.

Spicy Hot Chili Chicken - 5/5

We love Mahjong and have been going to the Plano location for almost a decade now. This location is new and everything we love about Mahjong. There's a huge void for Chinese food in McKinney and I'm excited to have this location close to us. I recommend the spicy hot chili chicken, the xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and the gyoza, all great. My kids are fans of the chicken fried rice. The egg drop soup is also excellent. This location seems a little bigger than the other spot. It will be a regular spot for us . Food: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5

My family and I came here for lunch. The atmosphere is pleasant with soft background piano music. The servers were good. The food tasted good, but we thought the portions were small for the high price of the dish.

The decor was simplistic, but cool. The restaurant is small but cosy. All the tables were taken when we walked in, the place was buzzing, but we got our table within less than 10 minutes. Rating: 9 out of 10 Food: everything I tried here was easily a 9 or a 10 out of 10! What we tried: - Holy Cow! Bo Ne - sizzling hot tenderloin on a hot plate served with a sunny side up egg, liver pate, salad and bread. Steak was juicy and tasty, liver pate was creamy, salad was the perfect combination of slightly sweet and savory. Combining all the ingredients together inside the baguette made the perfect sandwich! 9 out of 10 (almost a 9.5). - The Wok - flavorful Jasmine Rice wok fried with Prawns, Egg, Garlic and Spring Onions. Prawns were well cooked, crispy and very tasty, rice was flavorful, and the egg was cooked to perfection . 9 out of 10. Rating: 9 out of 10 Customer Service: customer service was good. We got our table fast, our food was brought out promptly and we were attended to regularly, without being overbearing. Rating: 9 out of 10

TLDR: Their menu was massive with so many different options which I think is good for people who want to try different things but it may be a little too big of a menu. Food was just ok. It may be beneficial to lessen items on menu and really focus on some key dishes they want to highlight. Everything imo was priced a little on the high side, at least $1-2 more than I would pay for the quality of the dish. They do pack their specialty rolls with a lot of ingredients and with inflation I'm sure they priced it accordingly to keep their business running, so I'm not docking off too much points for that. Review: They offered regular sushi rolls but disappointing to see that yellowtail was not on their menu for rolls (they did have it as an option for 2pc sushi/sashimi). I ordered a smoked salmon 2pc sushi which was pretty good and decently sized so probably worth the ~$5 price point for 2pc. I did not order any other ones from the 2pc menu so not sure if all the fish are portioned that way. Regarding their regular rolls, my husband enjoyed the Philadelphia rolls and said he could taste the smoked salmon, so for both of us a win on the smoked salmon. My other order was part of their specialty rolls...Salmon Lover priced at ~$13 with 8pc. Imo the pieces were quite small for a specialty roll and it tasted ok. There was supposed to be a honey wasabi sauce on there which I felt like was overpowered by the amount of spicy mayo on the dish. I wanted to like it so badly but I figured reading off of the ingredients list that it would have a kick to it, and it did not. It's not marked as a spicy roll, so probably not intended to be spicy? But with spicy mayo and jalapeño surely there would be some mild kick to it, and the flavor just kinda fell flat and tasted like...too much mayo. The highlight of this experience was the service. The young lady who took our order was super nice and cheery. Checked up on us at appropriate times and I saw she was also working on other tasks around the restaurant. I am willing to try this place again in the future as the vibes were nice, it def gives Japanese izakaya and looks like a good place to have dinner with some friends. Maybe I'll try their ramen instead next time!

Five people could've easily sent here, but I want the hopeful to myself. I could see the whole restaurant from sitting right where I am and it feels perfect. I just stopped in for a quick bite to eat, hoping to get some fried rice and I came in and found my favorite thing on the menu... bang bang shrimp... and there is such a backstory for me and bang bang shrimp but just numb last night my family chose to go to Olive Garden instead of going to bonefish Grill. I really want a bang bang shrimp and today guess what I ordered??? you got it bang bang shrimp!!! and it came out first before the other entrée which was veggie fried rice. My bill is about $27 and that's fine because I'm the main character of the story and every grain of rice was worth it. Perfect place for a self-care day that I stumbled across. Oh and let me not forget my server, Ajah. She was so adorable and so kind. I just wanted to take her home and put her in my pocket and pull her out anytime I need to pick me up or Bestie to talk to. The food was beyond delicious and the service was beyond great 10 out of 10, but definitely come back again!!!
