Hearing about this off leash dog park from a few of my neighbors it quickly landed on my list of potential places to take my pup. I'm sure glad I did. Magnuson off leash park is HUGE to put it simply. There are few gates to enter into, one of which is right near the "small" dog section of the dog park which is nice the other entrances lead to a huge field mixed with grass but is mostly dirt. At the entrance are some hoses to hydrate the dogs or hose them down quickly before entering of leaving. On really hot days I'll spray my pup quickly to cool him down. From there, there is another little area not as big as the main area, but there are some additional benches and is a bit more secluded than the main. The main area has a little info board, lost and found and a covering with a table and bench so you can set things down if need be. There is a path that's maybe 0.5 mile walk that leads to the main attraction here, a nice little cove of water where the pups can go jump in the water. It's great. My pup is a tri-pawd and doesn't really swim but does like the water. There is a nice long running mat that leads into the water. It lets him gradually get into the water and it is such a thoughtful addition there. I find the people at this area are generally nice and have had pleasant visits each time here. Two paws up for Magnuson Dog Park. A must visit for any dog owner. Seattleites rave about this local park, so it became an insta-add to my PNW to do list. A crew of us stopped by with our dogs for an afternoon outing. Pro tip: bring a beer for an even more enjoyable walk. :) Like typical dog parks, Magnuson has a large area for dogs and owners to congregate. But what makes it so special is their extensive walking paths! This path allows for dogs to wander off leash and also provides a pretty good workout for their human. After a half mile walk you'll approach a dog friendly beach along Lake Washington. There were at least 100 dogs at the park, all friendly! Sheila instantly became a social butterfly. read more

The problem with this park is the multitude of dog walkers during the day. It is very overstimulating for single dog walkers and dogs as they are surrounded often by anywhere between 20 and 40 dogs. The dog walkers each have 10 to 15 dogs and then they conglomerate together in big groups, dog walkers chat while dogs race around and sometimes (play?) fight each other. It's very stressful for the single walker trying to get through the throng of dogs. Often the the dog walkers stand right inside the gate so the stress starts immediately upon entering the park. I had to leave the park today because it was too much for my dog who is naturally friendly otherwise, and socializes well with other dogs. I believe there should be a limit of dogs per person. I realize that there have been articles in the paper, eg., The Guardian, about how cool it is for the dog walkers to have this park, however This is supposed to be a public park for the public not a place of employment for for dog walkers who bring their dogs many times and then stand while their dogs clog the walking areas. Maybe if they were restricted to the field it would be easier for those who truly wish to walk with their dogs? Or maybe limits on how many dogs a walker can have at one time. Take shifts. I don't know that my two cents help any but that's my experience, and yes, as a responsible dog owner I did remove my dog from the park when she got so frightened and overstimulated. My small dog never had a problem with the dog walkers so I know there's a different situation for each dog. It would be nice though if the park could be regulated a little better. read more

This place is so amazing! I love how my rowdy on the street on a leash chihuahuas instantly change and become docile fun loving playful pups as soon as we go inside the gate and take the long walk down to the beach! The beach is too small and pretty rough surface, it does have a disabled ramp down to the beach but it's too narrow and small. The park is huge and I wish they would improve the beach area! It really needs help! But otherwise this place is clean, well maintained and fun for both dogs and people! read more

I have two golden retrievers and this is our favorite stop when we are in Seattle! My pups love to swim, so we will come every day and walk the half mile down to the swimming area and back. There are a lot of different access points to and from the dog park, and bags provided throughout. We love the water the most, but also appreciate all the different wide open spots for the pups to play! Sometimes during the week, there are lots of dog walkers who have about ten dogs each. Overall, they tend to be well-behaved and we have never had a bad interaction with them, but it can be a little off-putting to be so outnumbered! read more

We go here a lot and have had mostly positive experiences. Owners are mostly responsible and friendly and pick up after their dogs. We love the beach and the many entrances. There is a small dog section, too, though you will find small dogs in both sections. However, we have had a few run-ins with aggressive dogs, especially later in the day, as it's beginning to get dark. The other day, I had to quickly evacuate my dog from the park because a man was entering with his extremely dog reactive, large breed dog. I was shocked that he was entering the park with a dog that was actively growling, resisting entering the park, and barking. We had another scary moment with two large dogs who approached my dog in the dark and aggressively barked at him/violently knocked him over. The owner said nothing. Other things to watch out for: -people bring small children here and let them run. This is a mystery to me, since it's a clear safety hazard to have a child running around a dog park. Make sure you teach your dog not to jump on the small humans and redirect their playing away from the kids. -I see those orange balls in my nightmares. People come here to play fetch with their dog during busy times, and get annoyed when another dog tries to run after it. Also watch out for resource guarding. -On weekday afternoons, the dog walkers come. This is when the dog to human ratio is 10:1 and anything goes. Try to come in the morning or evening for a less stressful experience. read more

I'm a huge fan of Magnuson Dog Park. First, it's HUGE and a great place for dogs to run around. It is all fenced in and bigger than you can imagine. There's also a water front area for the dogs to go in and swim. It's a nice walk to the water front too. There's a small dog park that my corgi loves playing fetch in. The water is nice too, she loves swimming in there. There's a lot of parking, right in the front of the dog park and a little bit of a walk away near the fields. In the summer time, it gets packed. I've been there on the weekends (around noon) where I couldn't find parking and had to wait till someone left. Normally, we like going pretty early in the morning so it's not as crowded. It is a dog park, so you'll have some people who won't pick up after their dogs. But I feel like here, everyone I've encountered is pretty good about it as well as dog park etiquette. The water is awesome. In the summer, I highly recommend getting their super early on the weekends when it's less crowded. We bring our corgi here every weekend, and during the summers, we'll bring her after work sometimes. read more

My favorite dog park I have ever been to! Beware: do not open a bag of treats or even think about saying the "t" word if you don't want a small army of dogs to swarm you. The park is incredibly large and a beautiful location on the waterfront. The main area is a large amount of space generally larger dogs run around and they have a small fenced in area for smaller or shy dogs. The best part is that you can walk the vast perimeter without your dog on a leash so you don't have to worry about anything getting tangled. There are doggie bags and trash cans all throughout in case you forget to bring some. The gates are all double gated to ensure your best friend doesn't escape. There is an are for the dogs to swim and run about in the water - great introduction in case your pet hasn't been in water before. read more

This park is amazing! Magnuson is the biggest off leash dog park in Seattle and it's soo worth it. I rescued my dog mouse about a year ago and he has been very shy around other dogs so I thought taking him here would help with that. The way the park is set up is great because you can walk along all the trails inside this HUGE nature filled park and tire your dog out before you even get to the off leash area or you can park right in front and just head straight to the fences that lead you right into the dog park. There are multiple entry ways and they are all double fenced so you have that safety aspect. The dogs who come here are much more polite than other dog parks in Seattle. When there is a fight or signs of aggression the owners quickly take the dogs away from each other and I haven't witnessed anything bad during any of the times I go. I try to take my dog every weekend in hopes he can make some friends or just get out of his comfort zone and branch out as a dog! Bonus if your dog loves the water there's the beach area where your dog can swim off leash and it's always a blast watching the dog's get so excited to play in the water especially during these super hot days we've had! read more

The park is huge and there's so many areas to explore. Everything is off leash and enclosed so there's no worry. People are friendly here as well. This is the to go dog park that everybody in Seattle raves about, god I miss having a dog. Marymoore is the spot to be on the Eastside, Magnuson is the spot to be on the Westside. There is also the Seattle Barkery truck that parks here that sells dog treats for your furry friend, you can also order a dog cake from them and pick it up here. I feel like as we get older, our circle of friends get segregated by kids or no kids, dogs or no dogs, you'll most likely meet new people if your dog get along with particular dogs here. Magnuson is a large park with a dog park within it, the gps might take you to the park, but you'll have to use your instinct and follow signs to find the dog park part of this park. This park has a small dog area which is a big plus! Usually, it's kind of dead in this section of the park, but from time to time I've seen lots of dogs when the weather is nice! We don't go there very often because it's a little out of the way, but when we do it's always so relaxing just to sit there and watch the dogs play and take a stroll to the other end of the park and back. I've never seen a dog fight there. Owners are respectful and pick up after their dogs which keeps the park clean. Okay dog park, we SEE you! We drove about an hour to get here (yasss I5 traffic) and it was totally worth it! This is definitely the largest dog park I've ever seen and I love to take my babies to off leash dog parks. My favorite spot was in Colorado but no longer!! First, there were a TON of dogs here. Minimum 75-100 dogs were here when we arrived. You guys, this park is eight acres! And there is plenty of walking/playing room for pups and the people they tolerate and live with. At the end of the park is a taste of Lake Washington for the dogs. Again, at least 20 dogs were in this tiny piece of land but the dogs loved it! There were balls around so my pups were able to play fetch . Plenty of dog walkers and trainers here, we had no issues with dogs or owners. Lots of garbage cans and poop bags throughout too!! Small dogs unite and take over the world! Alright - I am partial to small dogs I own or she owns me and I foster small dogs. I tend to get nervous in dog parks as not all dogs are well socialized and I can usually spot the energy from the dog and it's owner. I adore this park as they recognize small dogs don't always need to be with their big counterparts. My pup can be a little unhappy being with the big boys and girls and it can take her a little time to warm up. Once she does it's magic she finds a dog to play with run (grass and dirt). My current foster is in his element - he runs and chases the big pups along the fence. I hear Woodland Park and Genesee Park also have small pup areas - which I intend to visit in the future. What I really like about this park is the grass and direct combo. read more

Best dog park in Seattle! The park is well maintained and large. A nice (running) water station at the entrance. There are different "sections" so it doesn't feel crowded at any point and there are a lot of different places to walk around. For those that have small dogs, there is also a gated area where only smaller dogs are welcome. Our dog's favorite part is the swimming access. They did a great job at putting different gates in so that a dog will not be able to run off and jump in the water. They will need to go through the two gates. Parking and Park Entry are free. If you are in the area with your dog, you should make a stop. Your dog will love it! read more

I'm not sure how anybody can give this dog paradise less than 5 stars! I'd go out on a limb and say this is the best dog park in the world!!! There's so much space to run around and a fenced in trail that leads to Lake Washington. There's about 50 yards of shoreline for the dogs to play in the water and swim. Even if you don't own a dog, you should go and watch the dogs just play in the water with a beautiful view of the east side across the shore. If you have a stubborn dog or one that doesn't have the greatest recall, plan for an extra 30 minutes to leave. I have a shiba and she likes to play games and run away from me or stay out of reach when she knows it's time to go. There's also a small dog area, it's nothing special, just a closed off space. I would say this is the only negative. During the summer or on sunny days, the parking can be packed. I like to park near the indoor tennis courts and just walk to the dog area. On days it rained, be prepared to bring a muddy dog back in your car because she/he will be filthy! read more

This park is pretty cool. We came on a sunny Saturday, so of course it was fairly crowded, especially at the water area. What I like about this park is all of the space. There is a whole lot of area for the pups to roam and play. There are multiple entrances to the park, which I thought was nice. Unfortunately, there was poop everywhere, despite there being MANY bag dispensers and trashcans throughout the park. Also, there were some dogs in attendance who were not well-behaved, and the same could be said for their humans. I saw this smaller dog that kept aggressively approaching other dogs, barking and nipping at them, and the owner was basically like "whatever" as she was too busy paying attention to her phone. Parking area is on the smaller side, so be prepared if you come on a sunny day, you might be circling for a while, or you could park down the way and walk in. There are signs warning that the lot is a high prowl area, so make sure to lock up. All in all, a pretty good place to hang with your canine friend, but I think I'll stick to the others. read more

I had fun as a human, I went with my friend who had a dog. No bathroom for humans but there are portapotty. Very large off leash area, including water (thanks urbanization). If your dog is like my weimaraner and has a 2 minute attention span, head to Magnuson's off-leash today! There's a bit of everything here ... a large swimming area with plenty of seating for the spectators ... a ginormous main field ... a designated area for small/shy dogs ... a fenced running trail connecting all of the sections ... and plenty of free parking. Your dog will be able to get lots of exercise and make lots more friends while you delight in the variety of dogs that visit daily. There's mud-a-plenty and limited shade, so in the summer bring your hat + sunscreen, and during the wet season don't leave home without your galoshes. Honestly the best dog park!! Parking is free and ample. Midday weekends are peak times but there's extra parking in the tennis area. There's a small dog area and the rest of the park is a HUGE dirt area that connects to long paths and ultimately ends in a lake oasis for dogs to play and swim. Downside are the irresponsible owners, can't really knock the park for that since they're everywhere. Be a responsible owner and keep an eye on your dog at all times. Pick up your dog's poop, there are bags everywhere. Be aware when your dog is being overwhelming to a shyer dog. Extra balls and toys are pretty ample. If your dog happens to steal another dog's, be a cool person and try to return it to the owner. Make sure your dog has some level of training and recall. Just be a general decent dog owner and not an entitled POS. If you want to avoid crowds, come in the late afternoons on weekdays. If you want to avoid the dog walkers, don't go during midday 10-2pm on weekdays. Also, summer brings out the thorny blackberry bushes. Just another thing to keep an eye out for. Luckily haven't seen any foxtails here! There aren't any restrooms in the dog park area but a few portapotties around. read more

I have been to Warren G. Magnuson park before, but never had a reason to come to the dog park until now. My wife and I recently adopted a six year old corgi and heard a lot about this off leash dog park, so we packed her up and brought her on down. Walking into the park, I was very impressed with the shear size of the park and loved how they had water stations for the dogs and plastic bag rolls hanging from the fences to pick up any dog poop. There are pathways where you can walk your dogs down to the lake. It's mind blowing how big this place really is once you walk it. If you have a smaller dog there is another gated area for the smaller dogs to run and play. The park itself is well maintained and kept very clean. I can see why people love bringing their dogs here, because it's a great place for your dog to socialize and just be free without the burden of a leash. My dog Bren had an absolute blast running around and meeting new dogs. I will defiantly be bringing her down here more often. read more

This is my favorite off leash dog park. Hank, my yellow lab, LOVES this place. He loves to swim and gather everyon else's toys at the beach. We have a great time. In the summer I go in the water with him and have him tug me around. We visit here M-F, 4-6pm most of the time. Hank and his housemate Nikki are joined by Boomer and most of the time Keidis. There is something for every dog, big open spaces, waterfront and lots of water supply. My dog loves to chase balls so the large field is great. As a recent new dog owner of a 6 month old terrier mix, looking for fun off leash areas has turned into somewhat of a hobby. Our first experience was the Edmonds off leash beach area, which usually turns out to be a good time. Then we decided to try out Magnuson after we felt our pup had been broken into the off leash world. Reading the reviews it seems people had good and bad experiences everywhere you go but I must say so far, we love Magnuson. The people we have encountered are usually in good spirits and besides from a few slightly aggressive dogs, we haven't had any issues. The water area is a bit small however its nice when you would like to keep an eye on what your dog is up to. Ours usually wades a bit and decides its time for walking again! I love the open areas and the bit of a walk between the open area and the lake. Its a good way for dogs passing to have a sniff and maybe a little play time. They do have water for the dogs which is great and hoses so its also great for giving your dog a quick rinse off before heading to the car. It is entirely fenced so if you have a runner(we don't fortunately) they wont get too far. They have plenty of poop bags and trash cans to dispose of them, and yes on the warm days you might walk by one and have to hold your breath, it only comes with the territory of a dog park! We do plan on discovering more parks, but as of right now, Magnuson is our favorite. All in all, we love coming here and our pup does too! read more
