Northacres has a great dog park for the pups to play in off leash. It has lots of fenced in winding trails to explore; water and poop bags are provided. There were only a few things we didn't love about this park. It is right next to I-5, so the loud busy highway is right there. The trails are also quite narrow, so my two Golden's would easily lose track of me and come racing around the corner because they thought I was lost! When we went, during the week in the morning, we were the only ones there. It was nice if you like the space, but we tend to enjoy meeting other dogs more. read more

A nice setting with many opportunities to relax in the shade as kids play and run thru the splash park (relatively small, but atop a maze - similar to the one at Artists At Play - and with small and tall water features for all ages), or playground. There is a paved path that winds around and throughout for bicycles and scooters, but be aware of kids that just stop and dismount suddenly in the middle! So many trees around, and walking paths through the woods for the adventurous and shade-seeking park visitors. An ice cream truck makes its away around a couple times on summer afternoons, so go prepared with cash. read more

This is a decent-sized park next to I-5 in the Haller Lake/North Seattle neighborhood. While I was dog sitting over the weekend, I decided to take advantage and explore this neck of the woods. There are some play areas for children with slides, swings, monkey bars, etc. Some of the stuff was pretty high-tech and legit. I'd definitely play here if I were a kid, in fact, we saw a few people with their kids early on in the day around 11 a.m. The trails are clean and well-kept, there are lots of trees around too. I didn't check the bathrooms, but they seemed OK from the outside. The off-leash area wasn't the biggest, but it seemed like it'd be fun for small and big dogs. Big ups to my fellow yelpers for directing me to this jem of a park! The play area is fantastic, my kiddos had a blast running, climbing and swinging on the big kids playground, and even explored the super-cool little kids playground as well. There's a splash pad in the summertime, which doubles as a basketball half-court. Bathrooms are located next to the play area (definitely a bonus if you have little ones!). The playground is surrounded by tall trees and lush green grass, and just over a small hill is an area with picnic tables. This is a great place to while away an afternoon! read more

This little gem of an off-leash dog park in North Seattle has its own parking lot, and the fenced in paths are designed to fork and intersect in lots of directions to give your pup enough to be curious about at each turn. There is a water station and multiple bag stations along the trials, but no separate enclosed area for shy and little dogs, since the dog area is small enough. A baseball diamond and multiple multi-use trails are open to the public also. I'd recommend this for new dog owners trying to socialize their dogs, and not for dogs looking for large areas for running. read more

It's a smaller OLA, but really nice. Lots of trails to run around through and explore. Very wooded, but has a couple of open areas with benches where the dogs like to play together. Has a water area for the dogs, plenty of poop bags, and a bathroom for people nearby. Double gates at the front, and the entire thing is fenced in 100%. Overall, it's a bit quieter than some of the other parks, but for dogs that tend to get a little too excited being around 200 other dogs at once (like mine) that's not a bad thing. Everytime we've been here, all the dogs were super nice, no fights broke out, and most of the owners seemed very attentive. Close to I-5 and a short drive from our place on the North end. Now if you're looking for a good walk, this is NOT the place! If you are looking to sit on your ass, be lazy and watch your dog play, this IS the place! The best thing about this place is that it is so small, it almost forces your dogs to play and interact with each other. My pupp always finds a play buddy and they can run and chase each other til they are pooped! That my friends, is the reason I have been making this my "numero uno" dog park. It's shady in the afternoon, so we don't worry about kids and sunburn too much. On a summer hot day, all the kids come out to play with water. And there is playground area nearby, so kids can alternate. There's a path that kids can ride bikes in circle. Just not that much parking in front. But can find parking at the back. There's also meals in the park program from the government. Parents have enough spaces on the grass to sit on the grass to watch kids play. And picnic or hang out or do some work! The park has tons of parking (follow the signs), a forest walk in takes you to rolling, grassy hills with lots of shade for picnics, a great play area, a smaller area for kids under five to play on, and THE SPLASH PARK. The splash area is huge, there are outer areas for tots where there is less traffic from the big kids, and lots of stuff to keep kids entertained. The grass around the splash park is really steep hill, so finding a good spot takes luck and arriving at the right times, but there is a lot of room. read more

I LOVE THIS DOG PARK! So does my little lady Juno! We love to play some hide and seek when there's not many dogs in the park! It takes her a while to find me in the bushes. I love the people that bring their dogs here too! Juno is a 1 year old hyper but incredibly sweet and gentle pit bull mix so this park is perfect for her to run off all the energy! The owners here that I met 90% of them are not your typical helicopter dog parents that will shush my doggie away when she's just playing barking and a little bit mouthy around other dog's legs. Great for a rainy-ish day! The greens really block out the rain drops! read more

Northacres park provides a scenic alternative to the gravel-box design trend in Seattle dog parks. The planners/designers took the term "dog park" very literally: park for dogs. As they continued the trails and scenery from the main park, right into the off-leash enclosure. I really appreciate the result and how beautifully it has been maintained. Wooded with short trails, it is more of a Sunday afternoon stroll than ruckus and rumble found at many dog parks. It was fairly quiet on both of our visits. Highlights: + fully fenced + double gated + water + benches and restrooms near by + easy access to/from the I-5 All and all it is a bit too quiet for my pup, as he likes lots of action and other dogs; but he did enjoy exploring the trails. I enjoyed the peaceful setting very much and would recommend it highly as an quiet alternative or for those with older or shy dogs. read more

Northacres is a great little park to bring kids or dogs. They have a new spray park and two playgrounds. Get here early if you want a good spot for the spray park! Parking can be hard because it's so popular. People spill out onto the street for parking. This is a good local park. I don't think it's really a destination park unless you're going for the spray park though as there isn't a view and it's bordered by busy roads. read more

We took the pup here to check out this park, as it was one of the few we hadn't tried yet. At first we didn't quite like it because it's just a bunch of narrow paths around the park...but then we realized how much fun it was to play hide and seek in and all of us had fun. The pup was having so much fun running around looking for us and exploring the park. Good times were had by all. read more

I loved this park as a child. Theres a lot to explore, a dog leash-off area, a large field if you trek deep enough towards the freeway (however, you can access it and the dog leash-free area by taking the road further and hanging a left). I cannot explain how many times I've been here, the secludedness of it all... random mini-trails to explore. And my favorite wading pool. Downside now is that although the dog area, the large field, and the mini-trails still exist... they have just taken out the old playground and put in a new one. It looks nice enough. Even more of a downside is that they filled in my favorite wading pool and now it is a circular basketball court. I can't vouch for the fun-ness of the playground, but I am so sad to see the wading pool gone. But really... I'm just glad that the entire park has continued to stay the size it is, without housing development trying to hack its way into the area... read more

My husband & I were venturing out to try to find a dog friendly park for our 9-1/2 year old puppy. We stumbled across Northacres and decided to give it a try. My google GPS took me to the front of the park (which is under construction with the wading pool). I had no idea where to park and all the fenced off areas threw me off for a bit as I could not tell if the park was closed or not. We ended up parking a bit away and walking down as we really wanted to check it out. The 'doggie' park itself is on the backside off of 3rd Avenue (not off 1st). We let our dog off the leash as there was no one around and we didn't know there was a small dog run on the backside. Our puppy loved it! He ran around and was able to smell and go on the small trails without having to wait for us to catch up. We eventually stumbled upon the dog off-leash area which had about 10 dogs running around playing. I liked that the fenced off area provided poop bags as well as some 'community' water and benches for humans to sit down. It is winter so it was a bit muddy and soggy in places but that's to be expected when so many lil paws are running around a fenced off area. Overall, cute little park and we'll definitely bring Toby back as much as we can. read more

** At Northacre Dog Park the 3rd Saturday of every month is Volunteer Day - people come to help maintain the park. The park is closed on Volunteer Day UNLESS you agree to help out - then your dog can come in and play like normal!!! Good deal! Donuts and chips and treats and coffee available. We spent good 2-3 hours raking rocks to even the ground. Very good polices lol. Quite fair. So me and the husband did few hours of community service for Grace (our pup) so she can run around and have fun. Worth it and I loved helping, good exercise and feels great to give back. Next month - Dec - it's the holiday so there will not be volunteers day but it will start up in January again. read more

This review is for the off-leash dog area. I LOVE it! My husky mix needs to be worn out daily, and we come almost every time to this park. The whole area is fenced reasonably high, there is fresh water available, even doggy bags galore, and good company. Several dog walkers use this park so if you come before 10:30 am-ish it will be quieter. Even so, I've never seen this place packed. There is an open area in the front, then fenced trails maze back into the park, where it is really fun to play hide and seek with a dog that loves to chase :) it can be chilly here, almost completely shaded among trees, but it is never muddy, thanks to wood chips. A good handful of regulars attend daily and it's fun to watch the dogs play and bark with their familiar friends. Small and large dogs are mixed together here, though I've never seen a problem. Most all of the owners I've met or seen here have either a well behaved/socialized dog or a working knowledge of dog body language to know when to intervene and put their dog on a leash. There is also an un-fenced wooded trail directly next to the dog park, which begins beside it and winds out to another road and playground. Some regulars go for the trail first then bring their dogs in. I am so happy this place exists and drive the distance because it's worth it. :) read more

Great neighborhood dog park that is well maintained, and looks great. It gets a bit mucky in the winter, but that can't be helped. It has lots of tree cover which is great in the summer, plenty of trails to wander, and friendly owners/dogs. This park is maintained by volunteers once a month (third Saturday) which is a great time to bring your pup and chip in. It's also a good time for meeting new people and giving back to the neighborhood. read more

A nice neighborhood off leash dog park! I thought it was a decent size and felt like being in the woods (even though its fenced). It felt like I was hiking in the woods with my dog (even though the trails were short!) . There is an area where you can play fetch with your dogs if there isn't too many dogs hanging around ;-) It was near the expressway but it didn't bother me or the dog. People and the dogs in the park were friendly. People did watch dogs or help others with their dogs by shooing them away from the gate so new dogs can enter or picking up poop! This park is surprisingly small. The trails are really short, leaving me slightly disappointed. I went on a Sunday morning so there was only a handful of other dogs around. I eventually found myself on a small side-trail that led to a dead-end and porn scattered around in a semi-circle. A tad sketchy if you ask me. My dog seemed to enjoy the change of scenery, but I wasn't too stoked on the place. We made our way to Magnuson after a half an hour here. read more

The two star rating is only because it wasn't quite what I expected and not quite suited for my dog. The park itself is small, which of course isnt a problem for smaller dogs. The upkeep was great and the layout is well done for a smaller area. We tried this for the first time last weekend and to our amazement there was NO ONE there, no human no dog, just us the and the sound of the highway. It was sunny and warm, it was a shock. Im sure at some point dogs use this area, but our dog does enjoy a good run and the company of multiple dogs. It does have water and bags and benches which is nice. I dont think two of the available pictures are of the actual off leash area, and this area was actually a bit hard to find given the address, it IS off of 3rd, behind the baseball field. We ended up heading to Edmonds after about 10 mins, he didnt seem to excited. read more

In my opinion, Northacres dog park is one of the top 3 dog parks in the northend. The park isn't the biggest in Seattle by far but I think it's one of the best. I like the park because of its design. A lot of dog parks are simply one big fenced-in rectangle. It gets the job done, for sure, but it's a rather boring experience. Northacres has the typical rectangular fenced-in design, but the interior is a series of interconnecting paths that weave around fenced-off vegetation. It makes for a more interesting time... kinda like going on a hike with your dog. This design works great for my dog. I got him as a rescue and for the most part he ignores other dogs and just likes to walk around marking every object in sight... not much of a work out. With all the different paths here, I just wait for him to get distracted by something, quietly change direction, find a good hiding place, and then watch as he runs around the whole place trying to find me. Gets him good and tired! read more

Unlike any other dog park I've been to. It is in a wooded area with lots of bushes and trees; the ground is mostly covered with mulch. It's a pretty small dog park; although, in terms of square feet, I am pretty sure it is bigger than what it seemed. There are several mini trails in the dog park for you and your dog to walk through. In terms of open area, there are two that I saw but they're quite small or at least not big enough for you to play medium to long range ball fetch. Personally, I enjoyed this park since my dog really enjoyed the mini trails. The open areas are small, but I didn't mind it so much since there weren't that many patrons, so the area was just big enough for the dogs to all play in. Everyone that was there was quite nice and was very attentive to their dogs. Would love to come again, but it is quite a distance from where I live. read more

I don't have a dog currently but I grew up with them. So when I feel a little blue, I've been known to linger around a dog park to lift flagging spirits. And I was in the area when I needed a little pick-me-up so I discovered this little park. I parked my car, grabbed my phone and purse and walked to one of the benches. I quickly met a pair of fat dachshunds, one super-friendly English Bulldog and affectionately nipping two mixed Labrador puppies there with their mother, a beautiful chocolate Lab. In quick time my mood lifted and I was back in my car, doing my errands. When I returned home, our cat narrowed his eyes slightly as if I was covered with a paramour's illicit scent... but the moment that I opened a fresh can of his favourite food, all was forgiven and quickly forgotten. read more

Stopped by this park as it was closer to my house. It is a very good off-leash park and my dog loved the trails. It was good practice for us to work on her being off leash and yet still staying by my side. The other dogs were mostly big and she got humped unmercilessly by another puppy. The people were very friendly to me even though they had nice big dogs and I was there with my small wussy dog. No poop on the ground, plenty of bags and a nice water bowel that had the freshest water I have seen. Only slight downfall is that in the parking lot there were a few cars just hanging around with people in there. Made me a little nervous to come here if no one else was here. read more

Our dog loves the off-leash area in park . The people are generally very friendly, and it is full of big dogs who like to play. There is the occasional little dog in a sweater that just likes to bark, but all-in-all, its great. Downside: It is incredibly muddy and your dog WILL get dirty if they play at all. This is fine if you are prepared for it. The actual park for humans is cute as well, nice little walking trails. read more

I met up with a friend that works close to here because I was in the area. She suggested this park, and I'm so happy she did! They have two playgrounds right next to each other. One for little kids (ages 2+), and one for slightly older kids (ages 5+). My 2 year old had a blast, and my friend and I had fun sitting on the wall nearby and catching up. I live in Renton, so this one won't be a regular destination for me, but I will for sure be back. There's also a dog park, but I didn't see that part. read more

This is a great little park. Its a few turns off of I 5 to get to but worth it. It's obvious the community of park goers takes care of this place. I'm a big fan of this dog park- it's small enough that your dog can't get a mile away from you, and has back trails that are a good escape if the main play areas get busy. In the middle of the day, there are a couple of regular dog walkers with 10-20 dogs, but one of them does an excellent job of keeping the dogs with him and under control. The other one can be avoided, even if he's leaving some of his dogs behind. Many of the people there are regulars, which makes it more likely that my dog will have a good playmate when we get there. Compared to other OLAs I've been to, the owners here have been pretty darn attentive which makes for a much more enjoyable experience. read more

This is a terrific park, particularly you're practicing off leash control of your dog with distractions. Since every single path is fenced on both sides, it's like walking in a giant dog run and sets your pup up for success in staying focused on you. With other dogs and people walking by or at the many intersections, there's enough distractions to test your pup's skills in this area. (Mine failed miserably, thankyouverymuch: clearly I have much work to do!) The folks there were very friendly and I got the feeling that they are very proud of their little off leash dog park. This place offers a different kind of dog park experience. It's great alternative to the giant corral types. read more

Our dog loves it here. There are paths dogs can take. It's like a maze. It's next to I-5 so it can be a little noisy. It's not too big so don't expect a big large walking area, but at least you will be able to catch up to you dog easily or cut them off. read more

There is ZERO water at this dog park. This is a plus. We have enough dog parks with water access, a few without is a nice. When I walk my Golden around Greenlake he walks sideways, staring at the water, looking up at me every so often with puppy dog eyes asking to go for a dip. Some days you just don't want a wet dog. Those days go here. Access can be tricky since you'll need to take the exit before or after, then get over to it. If I-5 is busy, just head down to it from 99. The park is well cared for by volunteers and it appears most people do a great job at picking up after their (or other) dogs. No room to play with any toys, but more than enough to let them run without fear of them getting into too much trouble with some high fences. Northacres Park is a large area of land, mostly wooded, in North Seattle. From my experience, the baseball fields are dark, with trees blotting out the majority of the sunlight. The bathrooms are dirty, and at least for me, the whole park felt semi-rundown. The splashpad looked like a fun place to spend a hot summer night though, and this park does almost seem to have a charm to it. read more

As far as OLAs go, this one is my favorite in Seattle... and it also happens to be my neighborhood park. Other than the occasional uneducated owner, things seem to flow pretty smoothly here. Most people that come are regulars and very informed dog owners, a breath of fresh air from Magnuson. If you've never been here, I highly recommend it. It may seem small, but the abundance of trails, trees and mulch make this park intriguing. Its a great training park as well, not generally highly populated... its a perfect area for recall work when the park is empty. read more

This is my favorite dog park, bar none. It is smallish, but the layout is fabulous. My favorite thing about northacres is that the majority of people that go there understand dog behavior. I am constantly being yelled at when we go to Magnusson. My dog is a very enthusiastic player...rough and growly. At Northacres, most people just laugh.I've made some nice friendships there as well .
