    Big kid area

Big ups to my fellow yelpers for directing me to this jem of a park! The play area is fantastic, my kiddos had a blast running, climbing and swinging on the big kids playground, and even explored the super-cool little kids playground as well. There's a splash pad in the summertime, which doubles as a basketball half-court. Bathrooms are located next to the play area (definitely a bonus if you have little ones!). The playground is surrounded by tall trees and lush green grass, and just over a small hill is an area with picnic tables. This is a great place to while away an afternoon!

This little gem of an off-leash dog park in North Seattle has its own parking lot, and the fenced in paths are designed to fork and intersect in lots of directions to give your pup enough to be curious about at each turn. There is a water station and multiple bag stations along the trials, but no separate enclosed area for shy and little dogs, since the dog area is small enough. A baseball diamond and multiple multi-use trails are open to the public also. I'd recommend this for new dog owners trying to socialize their dogs, and not for dogs looking for large areas for running.

It's a smaller OLA, but really nice. Lots of trails to run around through and explore. Very wooded, but has a couple of open areas with benches where the dogs like to play together. Has a water area for the dogs, plenty of poop bags, and a bathroom for people nearby. Double gates at the front, and the entire thing is fenced in 100%. Overall, it's a bit quieter than some of the other parks, but for dogs that tend to get a little too excited being around 200 other dogs at once (like mine) that's not a bad thing. Everytime we've been here, all the dogs were super nice, no fights broke out, and most of the owners seemed very attentive. Close to I-5 and a short drive from our place on the North end. We'll definitely be back here soon!

It's shady in the afternoon, so we don't worry about kids and sunburn too much. On a summer hot day, all the kids come out to play with water. And there is playground area nearby, so kids can alternate. There's a path that kids can ride bikes in circle. Just not that much parking in front. But can find parking at the back. There's also meals in the park program from the government. Parents have enough spaces on the grass to sit on the grass to watch kids play. And picnic or hang out or do some work! Make sure to bring picnic blanket!

This review is for the off-leash dog area. I LOVE it! My husky mix needs to be worn out daily, and we come almost every time to this park. The whole area is fenced reasonably high, there is fresh water available, even doggy bags galore, and good company. Several dog walkers use this park so if you come before 10:30 am-ish it will be quieter. Even so, I've never seen this place packed. There is an open area in the front, then fenced trails maze back into the park, where it is really fun to play hide and seek with a dog that loves to chase :) it can be chilly here, almost completely shaded among trees, but it is never muddy, thanks to wood chips. A good handful of regulars attend daily and it's fun to watch the dogs play and bark with their familiar friends. Small and large dogs are mixed together here, though I've never seen a problem. Most all of the owners I've met or seen here have either a well behaved/socialized dog or a working knowledge of dog body language to know when to intervene and put their dog on a leash. There is also an un-fenced wooded trail directly next to the dog park, which begins beside it and winds out to another road and playground. Some regulars go for the trail first then bring their dogs in. I am so happy this place exists and drive the distance because it's worth it. :)

The viewpoint is thoughtfully designed so many people can line up against the railings without too much trouble instead of photographers trying to jockey for space. If you didn't bring binoculars, there's a few coin operated telescopes to help you look at things in the distance. There's also a cool statue here if you're interested, and if you go down the steps there's a small playground. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone use the playground though, since there are no bathrooms associated with the park and small kids can have bathroom emergencies. There are businesses nearby where I guess you could technically ask to use the washrooms, but it's just another hassle. Note: street parking only.

Magnuson off leash park is HUGE to put it simply. At the entrance are some hoses to hydrate the dogs or hose them down quickly before entering of leaving. On really hot days I'll spray my pup quickly to cool him down. From there, there is another little area not as big as the main area, but there are some additional benches and is a bit more secluded than the main. The main area has a little info board, lost and found and a covering with a table and bench so you can set things down if need be. There is a path that's maybe 0.5 mile walk that leads to the main attraction here, a nice little cove of water where the pups can go jump in the water. It's great. My pup is a tri-pawd and doesn't really swim but does like the water. There is a nice long running mat that leads into the water. It lets him gradually get into the water and it is such a thoughtful addition there. I find the people at this area are generally nice and have had pleasant visits each time here. Best Off leash area I've visited thus far.

I was only able to let my Chinese Crested 7yo, off leash and she stayed pretty near me and Oggie, my new rescue, 1yo Border Terrier. Most people were very friendly and watched their dogs at all times and kept great control, but there was small black and white, perhaps Shitzu/terrier mix or something named Max, who continued to come over and bark at my dogs which upset Oggie and made him feel defensive and he would then bark and growl. At one point while Oggie was on leash with me Max came over and started in and they went around and round with me continuing to pull my dog away with the leash, while Max's people just watched and called him. They did finally come over and physically pick Max up and moved him away from us. I was told by others that Max is a regular there and can often be an instigator. We will make sure to not go again at peak hours and will check out other bigger off leash parks. My dogs never had problems at the off leash park where we lived before and are quite used to going. The park was pretty and well groomed although smaller than what we are used to.
