I came for the first time for a birthday party. My dog liked it so much that the next day my partner and I came with him and signed up for a membership! Here's the thing - I don't like dog parks in general. I think they are a hotbed of bad behavior (human and dog) and pretty risky all around. Dogwood is different. The rules are enforced - (look at the other ratings, the negative ones are from ages ago. Maybe they improved?) - there are staff and "regulars" all over the place, keeping eyes on behavior and monitoring sizes, barking, play, etc. They require spay/neuter, which automatically helps keep things calmer. Being able to grab a cider and a snack and watch my pup play is SO cool! The people (guests and staff) were friendly, and more importantly, so were the dogs! Max made some great friends, and his energy was appreciated and not scolded! (He's not quite two. He's energetic, but not aggressive or reactive.) They request that people not bring treats or personal toys into the play area, and this really does cut down on resource guarding and similar behavior. They told me they wash/sterilize the balls every night, and that made me feel good. This is Max's new favorite place!! My partner and I plan on at least once/week outings here!!!! read more

We have 2 bigger dogs and it was our first time there, the community and staff was great with them. At first we were nervous because we have a Belgian mix as well as a boxer mix however everyone was really friendly, respectful, and very helpful. One thing we noticed was a couple of smaller dogs wanting to instigate, but the staff was very proactive on noticing the behaviors and acting on them. Our belgian is a newly added rescue family member of ours and is still adjusting, everyone we told that to completely understood. this is a great place for dog people. read more

I've been taking my dog here since late summer 2024 and it just feels a lot like our second home now. Not only do we come to the play park during our free time but we also take him to Day Stay (which he LOVES!). My dog knows what time they open in the afternoons and will stalk me until I pack him up and take him there- this should really be the biggest compliment of all. It's easy to see that all the staff LOVES dogs! They're all so friendly, welcoming and nice to everyone (and pup) who comes in. They know all the dogs and their behaviors and how to manage them if anyone gets a little too out of hand. The staff are always available and present making frequent rounds to observe the play yards (there's one for big and one for small/shy). There are also materials provided to clean up after your dog- poop bags, paper towels, cleaning materials- It's all a huge help. One of the many benefits of dogwood is that you know all the dogs are vaccinated. This is just such an easy thing to take off your mind vs a dog park. The facility is also indoor/outdoor which makes the Seattle winters so much easier to deal with- no more walking the dog in the rain, just take him to dogwood. Regarding Day Stay- what a difference a facility makes! I had taken my guy to a few other daycares and it just didn't feel right- we were never really updated on his day and had to pay to get picture updates. Dogwood is complete opposite- not only is he absolutely exhausted when he leaves for the day, he gets to hang out with his best friends (human and canine), the staff take hundreds of pictures of them playing in the morning and then post to facebook in the afternoon. I love that we get "proof of life" with Dogwood, that was a service that was charged at another facility. When we pick him up, the staff tells us about his day and who he played with and if he had any issues. I feel so much better knowing my guy is being taken care of by people who treat him like they would their own while I'm at work. Cannot say enough good things about this place. It has been the best thing for our sweet dog, Piper! We've been to a few dog parks/bars and none compare to this one. It is by far the biggest- indoor and outdoor. Has a great drink selection and lots of friendly dogs. Everyone who works there is so friendly and truly care about the dogs and the environment. I come from a pretty extensive canine educational background studying canine behavior, nutrition and training for the last 12 years... and over the years I've completely shunned off leash dog parks, daycares or any uncontrollable environment for my dog to socialize in. But I have to tip my hat to this place. I got a golden retriever back in October and after lots of training, I felt he and I both were ready to experience the off leash play environment with dogs he had never met... And I wouldn't have done that anywhere except at DogWood. Lots of places like this advertise that their staff help manage the dogs and keep owners accountable but Dogwood is the only place I've seen that ACTUALLY does that. And I've been to maybe 3 or 4 other similar dog bar type places. My last dog was a pit/lab mix and he did really well at Dogwood as well. What makes these types of places work is the staff and I'm really happy to see that over the years that have kept that expectation of accountability. I plan to bring my dog back and even hopefully have his 1st birthday party here as well in their super cool indoor and outdoor rental space. Side notes: -LOVE the extra turf they have put out all over the outside yard. -Love the extra grip pads they put in the inside. -And for anyone who's complaining that they get talked to because their dog barks too much... they are right too. Excessive barking can lead to problems in many social situations and it's just rude behavior. So is mounting/humping, hyper fixation/prey drive... Just saying. In brief: this place is noting short of WONDERFUL (minus 1 star for parking!) I have been going there for 2.5 years since I got my first dog. I now have 2 dogs and despite the difference in their personalities, they both love love lovee coming to this place! Before COVID, no reservations were required and from my understanding we could stay as long as we wanted. However, reservations are now required for 1.5-hour play time. They have a wide variety of bottled and canned beers and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic and beverages (but no food). I hope they will consider having on-tap beers in the future. :P I love the fact that they have monthly events like Doodle Romp, Corgi Meetup, and particularly Small Dog Play. I wish they'd have Small Dog Play more often because 1) both of my dogs are small, 2) on a normal day, there are much less small dogs than bigger ones, and 3) although they have a small (or shy/old) dog area and a big (active) dog area, the small dog side usually has way less dogs. Staff are always friendly and flexible. Guests (humans and dogs) are respectful of one another. Parking IS tricky especially now that it is by reservation only and everyone arrives and leaves around the same time. When I heard of an indoor dog park with beer (and no children), I knew I had to add Dogwood Play Park to my list of places to visit in Seattle. What a great idea for a very rainy city. My chihuahua min pin mix had a blast playing with new friends during our visit to town. There's two dog areas - active and non active. Both have outside areas for your fur babies to go potty. We started in the non active side as my chi gets anxious at first, but then ended up on the active side. Parents get to enjoy a local brew (cans only, no tap), and fur babies get to socialize! I recommend checking out their website to make sure your pet is updated on vaccines before heading over. The vaccine rules come with no exceptions, but that gives me peace of mind knowing my bundle of joy won't catch anything at this dog park. Not the best place for small dogs. They don't actually enforce the separation for small dog section at all. I would love it here if they actually had a small dog section with a weight limit. It's clean. Huge space. Good beer abs snacks, but My 7lbs dog got rolled and bitten by a large dog the first time I was here and staff acted like it was no big deal. I tried again a month later, and they kept letting large dogs that were off leash, including put bulls and German Shephard's walk through the small dog section on their way to somewhere. More than once a large dog ran at my dog aggressively. I picked her up each time. She was scared and stressed and so was I. Asked staff about it and they acted like I was being absurd for not wanting my tiny havanese to rumble with a pit bull. guess I won't be coming back. It's too bad. It was a nice idea. read more

We had the best time here for a smaller dog Halloween party. Staff are very friendly and the place was surprisingly super clean for a busy dog park. It's much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. Not they have any control over it, but parking is such a pain. I've been wanted to take our 1 year old lab here for awhile now and finally visit today. What a great spot!! Dogwood is easily accessible right off of 522 in Lake City. They have a few parking spots and there is plenty of street parking. The entrance is by the yard, not by the building. There are plenty of signs directing you to the entrance. They ask that you email your dogs shot records prior to visiting to expedite the check in process. Check their website for the email address. When I emailed the records in, they replied right away confirming receipt and acceptance! You check in before playing where they'll confirm your records, give you a run down on the rules, and pay your entrance fee. They also have BEER AND WINE!!! Don't mind if I do. They really have thought of everything. Cubbies for leashes, sanitized toys, plenty of clean up supplies, benches and tables for the humans. They have a wrangler roaming the space to make sure the dogs are playing nicely and people are being responsible pet owners. I found everyone to be respectful and mindful of their dogs, which was a huge bonus. There is an indoor and outdoor area for the dogs to play in. A word a caution, the floor can get slippery for both the pups and the humans. Once it got more crowded the dogs couldn't run as much and it wasn't as much of an issue. Our pup loved it. This place rocks! I feel a lot better bringing my dog here than the public dog park (though we do both). I sent in my dog's vax records via email and received a response within a couple hours that he was good to go. I paid $15 for admission and purchased a cider. The staff and dog owners definitely pay attention to what was going on. There were some energetic dogs (mine included), but no dogs who were questionable or aggressive. My dog ran around for a full 2 hours and was exhausted after. There is an indoor and outdoor area, seating for the humans, and an indoor quiet play area. They provide toys for the dogs, which I appreciate since people get funny about other dogs taking "their dog's" toys. This was a fun night with my friends, their dog, and my dog. I will definitely be back. Only con was that the parking situation was difficult. Had to park down the street. I felt a little uncomfortable walking to my car alone in the dark on that particular street. read more

Well!! It's Baci's favorite place! So it's mine too!! Since getting my puppy 5 months ago, I've been learning about all things puppy and dogs. 1. I still refuse to go to dog parks! I don't trust who's vaccinated and who's not. And I can't deal with more vet runs! We've joined a few other places in Seattle before this. There was another indoor dog park, membership only and pay per visit with a bar spot in Chinatown/Jackson. My puppy got a kennel cough and really bad dihharea from this place!! Bothe after each visits! We did one day day care and 2 times play session! Not ok!!! $40 membership my foot! And then we joined this dog explorer group! My puppy caught giardia right after the first visit! Terrible!! Refuses to refund etc! Not cool! So when we came to this place, at least I was less than hopeful! Pretty high alert! First I did paid per visit. We did the whole bring vaccines and first visit thing! We came for their doodle romp!! A morning of play time open only to doodles!!! Eeek! I'm in doodle heaven!! Each visit is $12. They have a bar! And the best part: the barkery! Seattle barkery with treat tunnels and all kinds of goodies you can take home!! Chicken hearts? Peanut butter paws? Woof woof! Since Seattle weather is dreadful, wet and freezing, we started coming here often! Now I have a membership! $53 a month gets you unlimited visit! Such a steal!! It's a drive from downtown Seattle and parking is a hot mess! But my Baci doodle always have the best time here. So why not!!! I've been here too many times now. Revised my rating down to 1 star because my dog (28 pound pit mix) and another dog (20 pound golden doodle) both got nipped by a large saint bernard here. Both dogs yelped for at least 10 seconds straight and were traumatized for the remainder of our time there. After the golden doodle got nipped, I paid close attention to the saint bernard just in case, and it was obvious that the dog was STALKING puppies like mine. The stalking lasted for one hour. Every time I saw the saint bernard walk towards the direction of my puppy I would follow, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to prevent an aggressive incident from happening. It all happened so quickly. Thankfully no visible injuries, and I stepped in just in time, but it is all psychological now. My dog is normally not a velcro dog but she absolutely would not leave our side after that. Everyone turned their heads and saw my puppy yelping in fear. The staff came over to check if all parties were ok but did not kick them out. The owner of the saint bernard talked a great deal about how his dog just didn't know her size and she's just playing. Ask any trainer or Google it and you will find that STALKING is NOT playing behavior, that's absolutely aggression. The owner was not even watching either, he was too busy sipping his beer so he couldn't have possibly known that his dog was "just playing". I'll also add that the entire 1 hour 30 mins there, his saint bernard did not have a single dog friend. (Dog instincts don't lie - if you see a dog which no other dog wants to play with, there's definitely a reason why, positive or negative.) I got a membership at Dogwood because I loved their strict rules about bad behavior which are plastered all over the website when you sign up. I've seen dogs bark here all the time, and now my dog and another person's dog has gotten attacked and there are no repercussions for it. They talk a good deal about the rules, but I'm utterly disappointed at the lack of enforcement here. Voff is much closer to me and from what I hear, they are quick to enforce their rules, so after my membership ends here I will just go over to Voff instead. read more

Dogwood is a safe, clean and FUN place for humans and dogs. We took our dog for the first time yesterday and had no idea how she would handle it. I have never seen her so happy! I appreciate that the staff were thorough in all things safety. The my checked out vaccine cards against our ID (thank you), were sure to check that our dog's vaccine records were on file and walked us through the rules and expectations. The other guests were all masked when not drinking, maintained distance and were very welcoming to us as newcomers. There are apt of regulars which is a good sign. Everyone watched their dogs and looked out for others. The employees would greet the dogs and gave them plenty of attention and were quick address any excessive barking (which only happened once briefly with another dog). I've been here three times in the past two months, and my dog and his homies absolutely love it. The staff members are attentive, responsible, and really friendly - you can tell that they genuinely love dogs. Most dog owners keep track of and clean up after their dogs. However, I've seen a few humans who didn't clean up their dog's urine or couldn't stop their dog from barking excessively. I suppose it's inevitable. There are plenty of water bowls out, and it's never too crowded in either area. On those cold Spring afternoons, when the wind is in full force, you should definitely bring a jacket. It gets chilly, even inside! The bar has a variety of ciders and decent beer options at reasonable prices. There are two restrooms, and both are cleaner than some restaurant bathrooms I've seen in Seattle (LOL). You can bring your own food but you have to be careful around the dogs. The Seattle Barkery truck stops by sometimes, and they have awesome treats! Love love love this place, and I wish they would open a second location in Renton or somewhere further south. read more

Dogwood was the BEST place to throw our pup's 1st birthday! We had a group of 6 dogs (9 humans) and it was the perfect space to accommodate us all! We called a few days in advance to see if we needed to make a reservation and we were told we would probably be okay without--they were right! Parking is not great. Actual dog park experience wasn't bad. It feels like a giant concrete room for your dog to run around, not really like a bar you'd hang out at. Such a fun and comfy place. The workers here love dogs and it shows. They also carry around leashes just in case there is a dog squabble that needs to be broken up, which makes me feel more comfortable because dogs are unpredictable sometimes. The building is designed so that you will never have to be worried about your dog escaping - there's a lot of double gates and it's basically impossible for your dog to escape. We have only used the Day Stay but our boss Ben loves it here. He runs laps with the big pups and comes home happy and then knocked out for the night! They have been VERY supportive, give an daily update and have been very communicative when he was sick once. We were paying $25 for a 30 minute dogwalker. If we bit the largest pass it works out to $30 a day and bonus: day stay clients get a free treat from the Barkery! That another about $3-4 a day right there. So in the end, good bargain for he cost, has both indoor and outdoor space - Ben doesn't like the rain. He's an older pup too so when gets tired they pull out a blanket for him for a snooze. We came here for the first time tonight and every thing was great! There is a larger play area for more active dogs with music to your left when you walk in. You can buy alcoholic drinks at the front counter and enjoy them while your dog(s) play. We stuck with Perrier though. On the other side of the building there is a play area for dogs who are in a more mellow mood. This suited our pup better today. He was a little overwhelmed in the active area. Both areas have outdoor access and garage doors they open in the summer. Plenty of seating for humans all over the play areas. You can buy Swell gelato and The Barkery treats at the front counter! Our dog loves the pupcakes and the Swell gelato so it was nice to be able to purchase both items in the same place. The Swell gelato here comes with a molasses cup on the side. Most owners seem super responsible and pay close attention to the posted rules to keep the peace and clean up after their own dogs. I only wished we lived closer, but it's definitely worth the drive and membership is a great deal, ESPECIALLY when it's dark and wet outside before and after we get home in the winter and our poor pup gets short walks in the rain. If there was heaven on earth this is it! Friendly staff, lgbtq+ friendly, great cleanup stations and selection of drinks. My dog Belmont can't live without weekly trips to run and play! I highly suggest the membership if you go a lot! Only ever seen 2 incidents, and it was an issue on the owners being ignorant about their new heavyweight pets. Member for life here. read more

This is my FAVORITE place in Seattle!!! And I wish there was a Dogwood in every city. A heated indoor dog park that serves beer, cider and wine where you can also meet rad people and talk about dogs forever ??!? Too dreamy. My pup loves it here because it's the one place she can run around AND socialize as much as she wants. She is extremely playful and high energy and inevitably finds at least one or two pups who match her energy and want to wrestle for hours too! The owners and people who work here are awesome people who genuinely care about you and your pup. Awesome selection of ciders, beers, wine and some snacks! Great jams and even The Barkery!!--yum doggy bakery. And they host private pup parties! Too cute. Overall an amazing place. read more

This place is absolute heaven! I could care less that there's a bar. There are SO many awesome dogs! This place is very spacious. It has an area for small/timid dogs and an area for large/active dogs. They provide doggie poop bags, water bowls, mops, and paper towels for clean up. There are benches all around the room for people to sit on, watch all the dogs play, and if you're lucky other dogs will come up for pets and visits. There is an outdoor space for both large/small dog play areas. There's gravel for dogs to relieve themselves, large tires and a rock bank for dogs to climb on. There are employees that walk around with a rope sash. They monitor the play areas and help clean up any messes. This place is impressively clean. There's also a doggy bakery counter at the entrance where you can buy some baked goodies for your pooch. They have chew bones as well and bow ties for your dog to wear!! How adorable! The fee is $12 per dog. There may be a slight discount if you bring multiples. You have to bring a copy of your dog's vaccinations which they will keep on record. Yes, there's a bar. You can order beer, cider, water, and juice. There's a TV to watch whatever sports is on. There's no human food that I'm aware of. Parking isn't awesome but it could be worse.
