After the updates, the small dog park is now much bigger and longer, so dogs actually have a place to run. However, it's usually used up by bigger dogs as a private space. There's now a cement walkway all the way down through the park, plus more covered areas and trash cans than before. I wish they had kept more of the grass because it seems harsh for 99% of the park to be gravel and sand. It's also disappointing they got rid of the wooden play structure by the grassy area, but they kept the platform by one of the entrances. read more

When I ran middle distance in track and field for Shorewood High School in the spring of 2007, the area that is now Shoreview Park Off-Leash Dog Area (or Shoreview Off Leash Park) was a meadow. We ran on the trails abutting the space for practice and had fun spotting the occasional grazing deer or scurrying chickaree (North American red squirrel). We all wanted the meadow to stay or go a more nature way, however urban development/urban sprawl quickly ensued and in a few years the meadow was replaced with an off-leash dog park. The track and field at Shoreline Community College I used for walking when earning my associate degree there (graduated June 2010), however that space now serves as a parking lot for the college. Hence, if one wants a flattened area for walking near the college, the dog park is conveniently located neighboring the campus. On a side of the off-leash area towards the trail system of Shoreview Park, Hidden Lake, and Boeing Creek Park is an entrance with rules posted and park closing time of day communicated (at dusk), as of Thursday 7 September 2023. I used to walk dog(s) down by Hidden Lake, we enjoyed watching the ducks swimming in the lake. However, in the past couple years the lake has been filled in, hence no more watching the ducks in the lake. One of several off-leash areas in Shoreline. This park is best accessed from SCC. There are signs leading you to the parking lot. Currently the parking lot is hard packed dirt, but the city does have plans to pave in the future. Next to the parking lot is a small "shy-dog" area. The shy-dog area is a single gated area about 20'x50'. This area is adjacent to the entrance to the main area so shy dogs will be passed by many dogs entering the main park. There is about 20 feet of shared fence with main park. The main off-leash area is approximately 20 yards wide by about 200 yards long. The main entrance is chain link fencing and has a double gate. Currently, the length of the park has poorly maintained box-wire fencing and could be less suitable for dogs that might be inclined to jump. There is a steep incline on the west side and a wooded area on the east. The substrate is a mix of dirt, rough poured concrete and a small area of grass. It is somewhat rocky and zoomies might end up with a trip and some abrasions. During the summer drinking water can be an issue, there are a series of barrels to catch rain and some that are filled by the city occasionally. Garbage cans and poop bags stations are at the main entrance, the middle of the park and at the bottom entrance. The bottom, double-gated, entrance opens up to Boeing Creek park and has many steep trails and access to the creek. It is not off-leash and the area is known to have citations issued. It is shared with the community, so there are often joggers, hikers and others enjoying the area. Please be respectful and only release your dogs if they are under verbal control and have good recall. The area is very steep and I would recommend sturdy foot wear. There is a good mixed of dog breeds and abilities at the park. There are many "ball dogs" as well as social dogs offering opportunities to expose your dog to social situations. It's a long park, so be prepared to walk up and down to maintain verbal control and if needed physical control of your dog. It tends to be busy around noon for the work-from-home crowd and then in the evening starting around 4pm. I love bringing the dogs here to get out summer energy, play with other dogs, and sniff around. The regulars (dogs and humans) are friendly and respectful. There are two entrances to the park. When driving you go through Shoreline Community College and park. If you go through the main entrance, pass the elementary school on the left, then take a right onto campus and then take the first left all the way to the end. If waking, there's an entrance through Boeing Creek Park tails. The entrance is labeled clearly for both ways in. The off leash area is perfect. Nothing fancy, but there's everything you could need/ want: play structures, plenty of water, poop bags, and they're even building a structure covering for humans. Definitely a good spot! If you're looking for a time where they are lots of dogs, the 4:30/ late afternoon is perfect. read more

My boyfriend and I were introduced to this park via a roommate a while back and we took her dog here (per request) when we got the chance to baby sit her over one weekend. We were pretty impressed at how long and wide this park is and it is decently "clean" (it does not reek of pee unlike Woodland Dog Park). The park is primarily composed of dirt and woodchips but its great for the dogs to run on. There are a few tables placed in the middle of the park for dog owners to sit on and there are also two "water areas" where bowls are set out for dogs to drink from. The last few times we have been to the park there has not been any water in the giant water resevoir that is at the entrance of the park which was a bummer but there was thankfully a few kind dog parents who offered to share their water with our boy Hunter! We will remember to bring a container for next time! PROS: 1) Long and decently wide park 2) Clean and not smelly! 3) The Seattle Barkery some times is there with dog and human treats! 4) There are "leashed" trails (some people do not leash up their dog on these) to go walking on when your dog is "done" with the off-leash area. We really like this park. It's pretty clean, there are always poop bags available, and there's always jugs of water for the pups. It's big enough for the zoomies and small enough to not lose your pup. So far the pups and humans who frequent here are very welcoming. This place is GREAT! Living roughly between the two, I usually frequent either the dog park on the beach in Edmonds or the one down next to Green Lake. I didn't find out this park was here until about a month ago. Not only is this one closer, but I like it a bit better and I'll tell you why. First off, my little Jack Russell loves to run. This park is like 2 football fields attached end to end. I can throw the ball for days without getting in someone's way or losing it and there's plenty of options for running. Since the park is so massive, you can easily meet other dogs or have a section mostly to yourself. Secondly, you can see the whole park from basically anywhere. It's nice to be able to keep track of your dogs and keep an eye on the riff raff. The park is a little hard to get to. Just pull into the last driveway for Shoreline CC and it's in the back to the back, left of the parking lot. Green Lake has a lot of ups and downs to easily wear a dog out but it forces most people and dogs to congregate at the top in the middle. Edmonds has the water but the rocks are kind of dangerous and there aren't a lot of options for play area so, again, everyone congregates in one area. If you bring a chuckit to the dog park you need to understand that other dogs will chase after the ball! Do not get pissed off that your dog can't keep up with mine. This dog park is by the Shoreline community college and there are signs that leads you to the park! Yay to the City of Shoreline! I was so happy when Shoreline finally had an off leash park! This park is a decent size with open strip area to throw balls for your dog. There are benches and picnic tables in the park. I walked up and down the strip with my dog while throwing the ball. The strip is surrounded by tall trees that provide some shades. I did see people who did not have dogs use the park for walking/cardio exercise since the strip is long. They didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. The park is big enough to share with others! :-) There are some rocks/ pebbles in the park but its mostly dirt and grass. I do recall that there is a fresh water tank for the dogs to drink from. read more

The off-leash area is technically in Shoreview Park; however the easiest way to get there via car is through the Shoreline Community College's parking lot. There are signs that will lead the way. The off-leash area is actually pretty big. By guessing, I would say that the length of the area is longer than a football field, but half the width. It's completely flat, with grass patches, gravel/dirt areas, and other areas covered with mulch. It is a great place to play ball since you have quite a distance that you can throw (the long way at least). There is water tank w/ bowls for dogs to drink out of. Picnic tables can be found inside the area for people to sit around. The area around the off leash park is lined with trees, so this can provide areas of shade during a hot day. It doesn't seem to be a very busy park when I went, I would say there were about 6 other dogs while I was there. Although after asking other fellow dog owners, they said that the day I went was actually a pretty calm/slow day compared to all the other times they have been there. I think my dog would've enjoyed it much more if there were more dogs. This off-leash area is definitely big enough to accommodate a large amount of dogs. read more

Had a good time with my dog! He's not really interested in playing with the other dogs, we just play fetch the whole time. There was lots of room for him to run after the ball. Signs very helpful going through the campus parking to find the dog park. Had poo baggies, benches, tables and various water bowls available. Best to bring a jug of water to contribute. I have gone to this park a few times. I take my aunts huge golden and he is a newbie to the dog park world, therefore the smaller size of this park makes me feel more comfortable taking him. Normally the park has more large dogs but i have seen some small dogs there and everyone gets along well. There are some left over tennis balls laying around, which is nice if you forgot your toys. Also on the water situation they have one HUGE tank for water near the entrance, with only one water bowl. Water supply was fine but you might bring your own bowl if its a busy day. They had a few garbage entrance and in the middle. A ton of extra baggies posted around the off leash park. I walked out without poo on my shoes :). Really great for a local romp in the park. Not huge and i believe the trails are ON leash, so its basically just the field. read more

DONT LEAVE YOUR LEASHES ON THE FENCE........ I have gone to this park for years with no problem, 11-23-16 was a different story. My leash was stolen right from under my nose. I placed my purple/black retractable leash on the fence and sat down on the bench next to the entrance, never leaving my seat while I was there. I went to leave and my leash gone. This is probably my favorite dog park to take my two border collies. One is a little on the young side and still learning his manners so it's great to take him on his own for socialization, as all the encounters with other dogs has been positive so far. When we have both dogs, we like to use the trails to explore Boeing Creek Park and walk down to the creek and lake. It's pretty clean and well maintained, but there isn't always water so if you're going to be a while be sure to bring some! read more
