If dogs could talk, my pup would be saying "Westcrest!" right now. I happened to bring my dog with me to West Seattle to run an errand and decided to do a search for a nearby off leash dog park. Westcrest was a few miles out of my way... but it was just so sunny... so I decided to go for it. Wow, am I glad I did! The park is amazing! I cannot believe the size of the off leash dog area! Olive loved the wood chip area. There were a lot of dogs out enjoying the beautiful afternoon but there was still plenty of room to run around. She loved running up and down the hills (I don't know why she loves hills!) and playing with the big dogs that were playing rough in the sand. This is a fabulous park. It's a little far to be my regular park but it's worth the trip on a nice day when we have some time. I know Olive would go there everyday if only she could drive!

Nice park, but not appropriate for small dogs. Too bad since I liked the location and plenty of street parking. I was told there is a small dog area, but I did not find it :( if you have big dogs make sure they are properly trained as I noticed that many pet owners at the park where socializing and not looking over their dogs. I had a scary incident with another dog that just ran over my small dog.

Two fenced areas! One big one for all and a smaller one for the small/shy dogs (:

Love this dog park! I've been to a few others with my fur babies but this one def takes the first place trophy. There are two areas: one for the small/shy dogs and a much bigger one for all dogs. Both areas have a water fountain, garbage bin, and patches of dirt, patches of wood chips, and patches of wooded areas with shade. I started off Dash and Kibbles (both shih tzu/Jack Russell terrier mixes) with the smaller area but hardly anyone ever brings their dogs to that one.... so now I bring both of them to the bigger area. Dash is a bit more on the shy side so he usually stays by my side but Kibs LOVES the bigger area -- he always has such a blast with all the dogs! Most dogs are very friendly and their humans are equally as nice. As with every park, there are a couple humans and dogs that are a bit more aggressive and indifferent, but for the most part, everyone is awesome. The bigger area also has a small training course in which you can train your pups to weave through sticks and jump/run through tunnels! Definitely bring your dogs to this park! Great way to socialise them and make new friends (:

A good park if you like to get a bit of exercise, too. Walk the loop while your buddy runs.

Had a window broken out & an old pair of binoculars stolen from the floor yesterday while parked in the south lot, near the wooded area. I'd recommend using the parking off Cloverdale, which is more in view. LOVE this park otherwise and have been there many times.

Great Dog Park! Nice folks, lots of dogs and it is big so lots of running and ball chasing can happen.

I have had many enjoyable trips to Westcrest dog park. I like that there is a larger loop area to walk around as well as a couple of play areas. The park can get a bit marshy in the winter. I prefer to walk in pairs with another person around the trails when it is not well lit outside in the darker/rainier months-- can be a bit creepy.

Good for small dogs / non bird chasers. We had to keep our tall dogs on leashes through the woods since the fences were so short and the birds were skilled in taunting them both to jump over. There are lots of pick up bag stops on the trails through the woods and lots of shade and water in the main play area. There is some kind of excavation going on just past the main play area and our hound was to scared to play with any of the other dogs. This is close enough to Federal Way that French Lake to call it a push.

Also a great place to do a little dog training! :)

How tall is the fence? I've got a jumpy girl.

The fence isn't super tall, your usual black-chain link fence.

Here's the thing - I don't like dog parks in general. I think they are a hotbed of bad behavior (human and dog) and pretty risky all around. Dogwood is different. The rules are enforced - (look at the other ratings, the negative ones are from ages ago. Maybe they improved?) - there are staff and "regulars" all over the place, keeping eyes on behavior and monitoring sizes, barking, play, etc. They require spay/neuter, which automatically helps keep things calmer. Being able to grab a cider and a snack and watch my pup play is SO cool! The people (guests and staff) were friendly, and more importantly, so were the dogs! Max made some great friends, and his energy was appreciated and not scolded! (He's not quite two. He's energetic, but not aggressive or reactive.) They request that people not bring treats or personal toys into the play area, and this really does cut down on resource guarding and similar behavior. They told me they wash/sterilize the balls every night, and that made me feel good. This is Max's new favorite place!! My partner and I plan on at least once/week outings here!!!!

The beautiful flowers and trees also make the walk worth it during the spring and summer months. There is a nice resting area at the top. I am also happy to now see snack vendors setting up here because a cold drink really helps before walking back down. As someone who lives in the area I would not drive up. Street parking is limited and always seems to be full. The hunt for parking might become its own workout. I am not sure if it is officially part of the park but there is also a playground for kids a few sets of steps downhill. Do not forget to walk over to Parsons Gardens to see the flowers during the summer. You should also stop at Marshall Park for views of Elliott Bay and the cruise ships on a clear day. The walk along the West Queen Anne retaining walls also offers beautiful scenic views. Kerry Park is a must visit in Seattle. It is also a great local walk to enjoy with your dog friends.

The park itself is huge and has other recreational areas to explore, but we usually stick to the off-leash area and dog beach. Magnuson off leash park is HUGE to put it simply. There are few gates to enter into, one of which is right near the "small" dog section of the dog park which is nice the other entrances lead to a huge field mixed with grass but is mostly dirt. At the entrance are some hoses to hydrate the dogs or hose them down quickly before entering of leaving. On really hot days I'll spray my pup quickly to cool him down. From there, there is another little area not as big as the main area, but there are some additional benches and is a bit more secluded than the main. The main area has a little info board, lost and found and a covering with a table and bench so you can set things down if need be. There is a path that's maybe 0.5 mile walk that leads to the main attraction here, a nice little cove of water where the pups can go jump in the water. It's great. My pup is a tri-pawd and doesn't really swim but does like the water. There is a nice long running mat that leads into the water. It lets him gradually get into the water and it is such a thoughtful addition there. I find the people at this area are generally nice and have had pleasant visits each time here. Best Off leash area I've visited thus far.

Probably the best dog park in the area based on size, offerings, and cleanliness. There isn't a bunch of dirt or gravel like many of the dog parks so your dog will stay relatively clean. Huge bonus in my opinion. I avoid many parks because my dog immediately gets so dirty.
