We've been customers of Gene Mayer's 34th St. Garage since 1999, so that accumulated trust has played a big role in deciding to purchase a used car through Jeff Mayer's Magnolia Motors. We were not disappointed and recommend Magnolia Motors highly.
When our old Buick Century came to the end of its repair-worthy life, Jeff talked to us in detail to determine what kind of cars would be desirable for our needs and preferences. We narrowed it down to 3-4 makes and models for which he would keep an eye out at auction. At auction day, Jeff texted us many photos and descriptions (mileage, condition, price range, etc.) of possible cars, and we decided on two options. Then a low-mileage repo 2014 Toyota Corolla came on the lot, and Jeff immediately texted us, checked it out, and we decided that might be the best deal. He was able to win the bidding for the car, gave it a thorough check-up, started the paperwork and had us over two days later to finalize the papers and transaction. Jeff also gave us a fair trade-in on the old Buick.
At 14,000 miles, the still-warranteed car is great! Jeff (re-)sells at fair-market value, and our agreed-upon sale price came in at about 80% (higher end) of the Blue Book's fair-market range. In other words, we probably could have done $500-$600 better price-wise if we had searched for a comparable car online and bought directly from a private seller. On the other hand, we barely had to lift a finger throughout the process, everything was done for us by Jeff, we bought the car through someone we've known and trusted for a long time, got a car thoroughly looked over by an expert, with far less risk, effort, and time commitment than if we had gone the private seller route. In addition, 34th Street Garage will do life-time oil changes on the car for free.
In sum, if reducing risk in buying a used car by way of a trusted relationship and saving huge on time and hassle is your cup o' tea and worth a little bit extra, then doing business with Magnolia Motors is highly recommended! My wife and I are planning to do so again when our other old car will approach its end of useful life. read more
