First try with a new knife sharpener. As a very picky customer, I can really recommend this service. Nice edge on a tricky knife!

I asked Vijay if he could clean up the chew marks the disposal left and, again, the knife looks brand new.

These knives carried me through…read moremy time as a professional chef and were returned in a condition that permanently altered them. I cannot replace the history attached to these blades. The refund does not change that loss. I brought several MAC knives in for sharpening and was quoted a two-week turnaround. They were ultimately held for over four weeks. During that time, I was told the delay was due to the owner's daughter being in town, which I understood and accommodated. Two days before pickup, I was told the knives had barely been started. The following morning, I received a call saying the work was complete. Later, I was told the sharpening had all been done the day before pickup, despite the knives being held for over a month. While the edges were sharp, the knives were returned with numerous dark, pepper-like surface marks across the blade faces, particularly near the heel and along the flats. These marks and pits were not present when I dropped them off. Washing with soap and water did not change them, and they appear permanent. I am a professional chef and take meticulous care of my knives, so changes in condition are immediately noticeable to me. Given the extended delay, the condition the knives were returned in, and how the concern was initially handled, I have lost confidence in the service. I had previously left a five-star review, which makes this outcome particularly disappointing. I would not feel comfortable bringing additional knives here or recommending this shop to others who rely on their knives professionally.

But right now, (March 2026), with the huge apartment construction project going on at the south end of the lot, parking, and getting in and out of the store, is becoming all but impossible during weekdays. I advise avoiding this QFC during core hours of 11am-4pm M-F until the project is done. Also, the construction crew is full of nasty guys who block the parking lot entrances and exits with equipment and work vehicles, and then yell at QFC customers to, basically, get of the way. All in all, very unpleasant shopping experience. Go somewhere else for now.

I am from the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle (home neighborhood in my American hometown - Northgate, Seattle) and I continue to use this location if I am in the area, though I live in Shoreline now. Sections of the store are well labeled and the workers have been professional in our interactions over the years. My favorite cake is yellow cake, has been for over 20 years, and this QFC location remains my go-to when I am looking for a slice or two of yellow cake. The in-store bakery makes a great cake and perfect frosting, especially the yellow cake and caramel frosting option. Even as of my most recent visit on Sunday 29 October 2023, I was happy to find fresh made yellow cake options. The parking lot can get a little cramped, has a 90 minute limit, and is restricted to QFC customers. There are two entrances/exits, which can be a little difficult to maneuver. However, it was one of my favorite lots when I was first learning/adjusting to driving because it helped teach me patience and to breath in tight fit situations.

The smith was a total jerk and seemed to not know the term "tsuba," either, even though he was determined to make me feel the idiot. In spite of all this I purchased a shiny axe with a dark oak handle from them, in part because I wanted to support a local business and in part because it seemed balanced and looked nice. It was not cheap. Now one year later I see that the chrome plating now has some black spots that will not rub out, even though it has been sitting in my bedroom the whole time and I have not used it to cut anything. A quick google search finds that: "This problem of black spots which you are facing seems related to base material defect which you might have failed to notice during pre cleaning stage and the same is appearing over a period of time once plating is completed." In summary- this blade smith sucks.

I was called when my package arrived, I had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify work and then given final total to pay. They worked on two knives. A Benchmade pocket knife hard to sharpen and returned with an nice sharpened blade. The second a Henckels chef knife with its blade seriously damaged and it was returned in a fantastic shape! I was called again when package was being mailed back to me. Thanks to Mick and all involved for a great job.
