I've taken my kitchen knives, as well as some garden tools, here a couple of times for sharpening. It's convenient, fast, and affordable. The result is pretty good, though the blades aren't as sharp as I'd like or expect them to be. I guess you get what you pay for. Very happy to be made aware of this place via one of the neighborhood message boards. I took over a bunch of knives, went back to get them the next day and took him 2 more. Took scissors, some steak knives, and a large bread knife in for sharpening today. These gentleman have decades of knowledge about knives and when I get them back, they are extremely SHARP! I brought in 3 knives and a pair of kitchen scissors for sharpening. I didn't know what to expect. This is a shed with barely enough room to turn around, but Lyle seems at home here. He took one look at my knives, one of which had a nick, and was happy to provide a sharpening service. He showed me why I was having problems using the large chef's knife and honed the handle to make it work right. I picked up the knives the same day. They are scary-sharp, but I won't be crushing any more tomatoes! I'm grateful that he is so very close to home, that I won't have to put up with dull knives, and that he is a very helpful, knowledgeable tradesman. We need more people like him. read more

Bronk is the man. Couple of years ago, took a bunch of items to be sharpened and he brought all of them back to life. He was able to sharpen an Axe, gardening shears, kitchen knives and scissors back to their original sharpness. The knife cut through loose paper like butter and scissor were sharp again. Bronk got to talking about the type of work he does and he's not only a quality sharpener but he's also a very highly skills craftsman capable of making custom knives and stuff. I took 3 of my kitchen knives to Bronk's and had a great experience. Not only is Lyle an upstanding, amazing guy to talk to but this guy can friggin sharpen a knife like no ones business! I was washing my knife with a sponge today and it straight up slit my brand new sponge! Oh and he sharpens them fast! (I have dropped my knives off at kitchen supply stores to get sharpened in the past--so convenient to be without your knives for 1-2 weeks! or run down people who do it out of their home garages...) This place has a storefront, regular business hours so you don't have to call to set up a time, and very reasonable prices. The proprietor is friendly, accommodating, and fast! Customer service is above and beyond. I simply waited 10-15 minutes in my car the two times I've been while he sharpened my knives--much better than a drop off and return trip. Found this place by accident as I was driving through and I'm glad I did. I stopped by this morning to get my folder sharpened and have the tip repaired. I expected to drop the knife off and come back a few days later. Nope the owner Lyle had it done Ina matter of minutes. When he was done it was the sharpest knife I've ever had sharpened before. Best $5 I've spent in a long time! While looking around his shop I got the opportunity to look at his other work. Lyles love and craftsmanship is top notch. Lyle knows darn near everything there is to know about knives which is evident in 1) how quickly and accurately he sharpens them, 2) the craftsmanship exhibited in his custom made knives, and 3) the ease at which he performs it all. I took a pair of culinary scissors that had been poorly sharpened, and he returned them to razor sharp in about 10 minutes. They cut like two spoons taped together before, and after he got ahold of them, they helped me cut through Seattle traffic on the way home (all kidding aside) - they are scary sharp. I won't take my knives anywhere else! Lyle is a wonderfully charming and knowledgeable professional and he treats each and every knife with the same level of care, regardless if it's a Wusthof or Hamilton Beach. And I should know - I bring him both! The first time I went to him I brought him my "fancy" Wusthof blades, as well as some of my old Hamilton Beach knives from my college years, since I still used them, and I wanted to see how he'd handle them. He ended up thinning the blades slightly on the HB's since they were thicker, and the more narrow bevel on the blade edge has made them more sharp than I ever thought they could be - just as good as my Wusthof blades, too! He wants you to enjoy the work he has done, and has given me some simple tips to maintain the health of the blade. With his instructions I really only need to get my knives sharpened every 9-12 months. Lyle is fast, courteous, and affordable. I can't recommend him enough. read more
