Finally have a mower I love and don't need a dude to help me start it. I also appreciate how honest James was about my old mower not being able to be fixed with a simple tune up. Rather than promoting an expensive set of repairs, he offered to apply the costs of the tune up toward a reconditioned mower. read more

James was pleasant to deal with. I replaced my dead mower with one that he had fixed. Starts with half a pull and fair price. Will be back if a need another mower down the road. read more

James completed a tuneup of my lawnmower, including blade sharpening. Brought it in around noon, and it was back in my shed -- good as new -- less than four hours later. That's service. You don't see that much nowadays without paying a hefty premium. His prices are very reasonable, and you can get a little inside info on how to keep your mower in tip-top shape (things manufacturers don't tell you -- and most likely don't want to tell you). I recommend James highly. read more

This guy knows his shi÷, if you need some yard equipment at a reasonable price or if you need that equipment fixed he is the guy.

Brought my lawn mower that was leaking gas out of the air filter (carburetor issue) and James was able to fix it the same afternoon. The gas mower started right up as if nothing happened. Fair price for the service. Thank you, James! read more

James is clearly honest and talented. Saw that my lawmower did not need much to fix it, charged me a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. read more

James answered my call on a Saturday and he came the same day to repair my riding lawn mower. My mower wouldn't start and he was quickly able to troubleshoot to get it going again. He is a nice guy that charges reasonable prices. He knows his stuff and is very transparent. read more

James is a great guy. He fixed our mower and had it back to us within an hour or so. It cost exactly what he told us it would. Refreshing dealing with someone dependable and honest. read more

James was great. No nonsense, no frills, and no funny business. He came to my place and had my old riding mower running great in no time. I'm no expert on pricing, but it seemed reasonable to me for a house call, a half hour of labor and a few parts that he had on hand, especially considering he came out on two days' notice when everybody else was talking about weeks. I will definitely call again next time I need work on a power tool. read more

This place is ok. First time he fixed my lawnmower quickly with reasonable price but 2nd time he charged $10 "trying" to fix my weed eater but it didn't work after he tried for 1/2 hour. He said he got to charge me for his time. read more

Originally seemed like a good place to get my lawnmower fixed and seemed reasonably priced based on the reviews. Was able to get my lawnmower going after the "fix" but after using my lawnmower for one section of my lawn it stopped working again. Tried calling several times but phone just kept ringing and even hung up on my phone calls. Edit: Received a call back and was offered to look at my lawnmower again for free as long is it was not old gas which I did not put in after being advised so after the fix. read more

I was looking for a good place to get my lawn mower and string trimmer repaired and was referred to Heaven Sent by two separate people.(already off to a good start) I didn't go for any of the items but anybody that is into tools can probably find something of interest there. I'd definitely agree with the other reviewer that it's more of a male shop. The gentleman that repaired my lawn mower was also the owner to the best of my knowledge as he was described as having a pretty awesome beard by others. (I have beard envy) He told me it might be a week before he could repair my lawn mower but he far exceeded that and called me back in just two days. When I arrived they recognized me and immediately offered help. He pulled out both pieces of equipment told me what he did to fix them and demonstrated they were fully functioning. He also told me that if I had any problems with his repairs to just let him know. They also seemed cleaner than when I brought them in so it's obvious he shined them up a bit. In my mind, he went above and beyond as the screw on my carb was absolutely stuck. Luckily, he had a replacement carb on hand and was able to chisel the old one off and replace it and didn't even charge me extra. After paying and leaving him behind to head for my truck he was nice enough to run out after me and offered to help me lift the lawn mower into the bed. Would definitely recommend this shop for anyone needing small motor repair. read more

So I have probably driven by this place at least 100 times before finally stopping in today. Hate to say I could probably have lived without ever going here. As previous reviewers have mentioned it may be a Man's thrift store but if I were a man I'd be insulted. If this were the first "thrift store" anyone ever visited, I doubt they would ever go to another one. So much stuff packed into a small place. The odor of gasoline form all the lawn mowers outside permeated the inside. If half the stuff were taken out it would still be crowded. That being said I did find hubby 2 nice shirts for a total of $7 and myself a nice pair of boots for $4. Go if you are a brave thrifter but be warned it is overwhelming & underwhelming at the same time. read more

Our lawnmower broke just at the beginning of spring lawn mowing season. I had visions of having to buy a new one. Found this well-hidden company in a little neighborhood near me. Brought it over this morning and I was home about a half hour before he called to say it was fixed. He was very nice and of course very affordable. He also gave me some much-needed schooling on better lawnmower care... Point taken! He prefers debit over credit just FYI as a favor to him. It felt like going back into Mayberry times where the world with simpler and kinder. read more

James is great! I had a pressure washed that wouldn't start. Not only did he get me in the same day I called, he repaired it in under a couple hours. I was so impressed I dropped off my gas lawnmower for some repairs when I picked up my pressure washer. We agreed on a price as he showed me a couple of other things that were wrong with my mower. He said he would have the mower done before the end of the day and I dropped it off at 3:30pm! Talk about a quick turnaround and great service! read more

When I called James back in July, there was something about our conversation on the phone that told me he was a "good guy". Prior to finding his website I had called numerous places and got nowhere. I brought my mower to James, late in the day, and he had it fixed within an hour. He not only replaced my front tires and sharpened the blade, he shared/showed me how to care for my 15 year old mower so it would last even longer. James, I gave you 5 stars only because I wasn't able to give you "10". I will always recommend you to my friends and family. Thank you THANK YOU for helping me during my emergent time of need. P.S. So sorry this post is extremely late! read more

This place is awesome. I had my lawn mower repaired here and bought a refurbished pressure washer and it works like new. Love this compared to buying brand new. Highly recommended the gentlemen who runs this business he always provides insightful tips as well and very friendly. read more

A couple weeks ago we were looking for somewhere to get our lawn mower repaired, because it wouldn't start at all after having sat in our garage over the fall/winter. My husband had called some places closer to us (we live in Woodinville), but nobody returned his messages. I did some research into places a little farther out, found Heaven Sent, and decided to give them a call to make an appointment. James answered right away and told us to bring the mower over whenever we could - so we were there about 45 min later. His business is in the front yard of a house - parking can be a little tight if anyone else is there, but we had no problem pulling up to the curb to offload our mower. He took our mower, gave it a once over, and let us know it'd be $90 with tax. We left our name, number, and agreed on the cost, and he said it'd be a couple hours. 2.5 hours or so later, he called us and let us know the mower was ready. We drove over to pick it up, and the mower was running good as new! He said there was some oil in our filter, and the inside got all gummed up from old gas. We paid him (debit or check preferred, FYI) and he also gave us a little card with tips on how to make sure our mower runs better, longer. Overall, we were really pleased with the fact that we could call him and have our lawn mower working good as new a few hours later. We hope we won't have to see him again, but if we do have mower issues down the line, we'll definitely go to him! read more

I had a lawn mower that I thought that I had burned out the engine and I had not used it in over a year. I thought about buying a new lawn mower, but the cheapest were around $300. My wife had found a review for Heaven Sent on Yelp. I took the lawn mower in and it was repaired in about an hour for only $110. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you need your lawn mower fixed and not be overcharged. read more

James was on the road when we called and he turned around and went home to meet us. He completed the job very quickly while we waited and his prices are very affordable! Totally recommend him if you want your mower blades sharpened ! Thank you SO much, James! read more

James is fast-fast, totally honest, and super-skilled at what he does. And he charges a reasonable amount. We bought a new gas-powered generator about 5 years ago. When it was new, we tested it out, then left the gas in it. (BIG MISTAKE! DON'T DO THIS WITH ANY OF YOUR GAS-POWERED TOOLS!) James cleaned out the entire system and got it running again. He also showed us how to drain the gas in the future. He solved this problem very quickly; we dropped it off and picked it up within just a few hours. We need more people like James who take pride in their work and who really know what they're doing. THANK YOU, JAMES! read more

Great price, great communication, and it's always a good thing to help our a small local business. Mower cleaned and ready for the season in less than 5 hours after I dropped it off. Did such a great job that I can't imagine needing to come back anytime soon... but I absolutely recommend that you use him if you're getting ready for lawn season! read more

I almost feel disinclined to share this little gem... Heaven Sent Secondhand is a strange little thrift store on 522 just on the edge of Lake Forest Park in Shoreline. It looks kind of like a yard sale and the grumpy old men that work there have a tendency to sneak up behind you, but don't let the creepy vibe turn you off. This is probably the only thrift store in the world that defies the age-old adage "don't ever go thrifting for a specific thing." Put on your grown-up panties because... They have Pyrex (3.99), vintage cameras (4.99), commemorative plates (1.99), blue willow china (1.99), really fantastic mid-century furniture, and just about anything else you're desperate for. Stuff isn't super cheap and I'm pretty sure they aren't charity affiliated but I got the sneaking suspicion that you might be able to haggle. For exactly $12 I got a Hawkeye Instamatic, flashbulbs and a pyrex casserole dish. read more

Very happy with this service. James was able to come out and get my lawn mower running like new the day after I called. The price was very fair and he sharpened the blade with no extra charge. He also gave me some very useful advice for maintaining the mower to keep it in good shape. I'd recommend Heaven Sent to anybody. read more

So for the last 8 years, i was going to Alderwood Mall Sears to get my lawn mower cleaned and fixed. Would pay $100+ every year to maintain a mower that cost $199, and it would take Sears 2+ weeks to get it fixed because they would ship it somewhere. This year Alderwood Mall Sears got closed, and who knew it was a good thing? :) Went online, searched for local mower repairs, and found James at Heaven Sent. Heaven Sent is ranked #2 among mower repairs but really should be ranked #1 if you asked me :) After working with James, i must say that his company name really suits the way he approaches his business and his customers. James is really cool guy with great communication and customer service skills, no bull, no small talk, no nonsense. Fixed my mower in one day, sharpened the blades too. James was even willing to fix it within the same day if i really wanted to. Charged me $66 including tax, and gave me really good instructions how to maintain my mower so i dont have to come back. Probably not good for his business :), but i appreciated customer service, and will be back for sure! Thank you for great job! read more

James and his assistant were amazing, I had a poorly running mower and James identified the problem immediately, completed the repair, had a spare part in his vehicle, and sharpened my blade. He is knowledgeable and was instructing me on how to better maintain my mower. I appreciate his excellent service. Very much appreciated! read more

This is a great local small business. The owner runs his shop out of his home and he provides excellent service and prices. I first brought him an old (early/mid 90s) Honda whisper quiet generator, a newer blower and an old early 90s chainsaw. These were passed down to me by my father so I had some desire to get the working again after sitting in his garage so many years. He got all three up and running. I then brought in a hedge trimmer that had a few pieces missing and he repaired that too. He was extremely knowledgeable, kept me updated on the whole process and was very reasonable with prices and the replacement parts. He even got most of the items done within the next day, I couldn't believe It. I will definitely be bringing all my small engine repair needs to him. read more

My lawn mower broke down when I needed it the most, I looked up at yelp for someone to repair it immediately, I am fortunate that I reached out to James. James worked on my mower immediately and told me how much it would charge (he is very transparent. He fixed my mower within an hour, he sharpened the blades for no additional charges. What was the best part was he explained and gave tips on how to maintain and take care of the mower in future so that I don't have then problem again. Amazing service. Highly recommended! P.S: His charges are pretty decent too which was icing on the cake! read more

James came to our house the same day I called and got our old riding mower going. He did an almost complete tune up, and he only charged $60. Nice guy, and he knows what he is doing! read more

Great service for lawn mower repair! Called in the afternoon and James came to our house within a few hours. GREAT price for service and sharpening blades. Nice guy and honest. Love the idea of the house call! Much easier than the hassle of taking it to a shop. Cost less too. Highly recommend James! read more

My mower would not start from sitting a couple months and I did not want to haul it to a mower shop to let it sit for a couple weeks and pay a ton of money. I called James at Heaven Sent and he needed pictures and was able to come out same day to fix my mower. He showed up and had my mower running, with blades sharpened in 15 minutes. He also gave me some advice on how to keep it running great! Highly recommend. read more

Backstory - my friend and I had driven by the small sign in Lake Forest Park for at least a year when we finally decided to venture down and check out this thrift store. This is definitely a man's thrift store - if there is such a thing. I mainly say that because there were a zillion guys in here looking at junk. It smelled like used motor oil. The women's clothing was 80s. The book section wasn't as I had hoped. They did have some interesting prints. I was too intimated by this place. A guy, I'm not sure if he was the owner, was pleasant and acknowledged. It appeared he may be in the Witness Protection Program. You'll know what I'm talking about if you go.... read more

Super! James was able to come to my home and get my portable home generator running. Great service, great price and convenient! He also educated me as to why the engine wouldn't run and how to avoid problems in the future. read more

This place is a real life example of "Hoarders", but that's what makes it fun! Shelves are stuffed full of random accessories, but they're all laid out in a somewhat organized manner. If you want a true treasure hunt, come here and be amazed. Seriously. The fact that it's off the road, you can slowly meander and look through things without feeling someone else watching you (Okay, maybe other thrift stores make me feel paranoid)... read more

Serviced my Lawn Mower that afternoon when all others I contacted were weeks out. Really good job!

This is a store that is somewhat overwhelming for me as there is so much stuff packed in it. Every time I go back I see stuff I missed before. I purchased some antique horn handled carving knives and a vintage set of high quality never used horn handled Sheffield steak knives very reasonably. My sons and I go back every couple of weeks as the inventory changes. I often call prior to shopping for an item and a couple of weeks ago I called when looking for a power saw. I bought a 1956 Delta radial arm saw that operates perfectly for $49. Saved at least $100 if not more. Check it out make a respectful offer and bargain away. I too have experienced the store being unexpectedly closed, however being a frequent customer I realize that they close to do their estate clean outs and other inventory acquisitions. The gone fishing sign means new stuff to peruse! I learned to call first... read more

Same as other reviews I drove by this place many times before realizing they did lawn mower maintenance and repair. They gave my 10 plus year old mower a tune up and replaced the fuel hose for a very good price. I expected it to take a few days to a week. I picked up the mower the day after I dropped it off. It has worked great since. They even washed it. Great service, reasonable price and really nice people. I will go back for my next tune up. They also have a good thrift store with a large variety of items. read more
