I trust Yelp reviews from choosing a restaurant in Venice, Italy to finding someone local to repair my elderly father's lawn mower without charging an arm and a leg. Pete is just that. He works out of his "shop" located in the back of his residence. Knows a lot about small engine repair, quick turn around time, answers his phone and calls you when your item is ready or if he needs to discuss further repair which may impact his original estimate. I took my father's OLD lawn mower in for a tune up. Personally, I thought he should just buy a new one. My father just filled it with gas and that was it. Pete showed this ol' lawn mower a little love and she starts on the first pull and purrs like a kitten. Pete provided a "cheat sheet" of little tips we could do like, using up all the gas on that last mow of year before storing it away until the next spring. Who knew such a simple thing prolongs the life of your lawn mower? And also, several other tips that take hardly any time and cost pennies, if anything at all. All in all, we have a lawn mower thats performs like a new one. Take your stuff to Pete, you won't be disappointed. He doesn't want to mess with chit chat but you can drop your mower, give hime your contact info, and get going. He turned my mower around in three days. He only takes cash or checks. And don't text him! Call him. Leave a message if he's not available. He'll call back. I don't think you'll find better service and certainly not for these prices. read more

Brought my home generator to Pete on Friday two days ago, and picked it up today, Sunday. Pete got it working quickly as he knew it was windy and my power goes out frequently. He cares, he's very good, and he's reasonable. Seeing the extreme differences in reviews, and now meeting him, I don't think Pete treats people differently. He's put in his time in life, he doesn't have time for small talk, and he has a dry sense of humor. If you're looking for a friend or to get your social fill, he's not the guy. Nor is he for the fragile. But if you want high quality work, quick turn around and a reasonable price, he's the guy. I'll go nowhere else as long as he's in business. read more

I brought my mower to him later that afternoon. Less than 24 hrs later, he repaired my mower and I was able to mow my lawn before the rain hits! Very upfront with his pricing and very personable. Even though I live in North Seattle, I took my Briggs and Stratton gas mower to Pete when the recommended local repair shop in my neighborhood said they were booked for two months. Pete said he could look at it that day. He runs the business out of his house. He listened to the mower for a moment and told me it was the diaphragm. Then he went into kind of a tirade about how people never seem to listen to him when he tells them to use fuel stabilizer, and said he could replace the diaphragm -- no doubt gummed up from the stale, unstabilized gas I'd been using -- for about thirty eight bucks. But it wouldn't be that day, he said, because there were a bunch of mowers ahead of me. He called before I got home to tell me it was done and I could come get it. When I got there, he chewed me out again about using unfuelstabilized gas, and for asking stupid questions, and for interrupting his dinner. But the thing seemed to be working. I went home and mowed my lawn. But it started conking out the next time I used it, even though I used fuel stabilizer just like he instructed. I called him again and he said bring it in, it was probably the carbeurator was shot, even though he'd cleaned it. I thought this sounded like the beginning of a nightmare, but for some reason I trusted my gut and took it back. He said he doesn't automatically replace a carbeurator "every time one comes in, that wouldn't be right". Points for not doing extra work that doesn't need doing. He had several other mowers lined up agian but when he learned I lived in North Seattle and would have to drive back again he said he'd just need an hour. My daughter and I spent the hour at a nearby playground and he called in less than an hour, job done. He didn't charge me for labor this time, just the carbeurator part. The mower's working fine now. Pete is kinda grouchy, always seems to be eating dinner when I arrive even though he tells me when to come. But I can abide with the attitude. He fixed the mower, and sometimes you have to fix things and then fix them again. It was a lot cheaper than buying a new one and dumping the old. His prices are very reasonable, he works fast, and he's available weekends. By the way, he recommends the cheeseburger in the clubhouse up at the golf course on the hill there, but says everything else they serve is terrible. read more

This was that most disgusting experience I have ever encountered with a person have done business with in my life. I should have left when I first dropped off my pressure washer. There were two old women leaving and they stopped and gave me a filthy look this was followed by Pete who never used a courteous word when talking to me. His demeaner was worse when I came to pick up my machine. Not only was he screaming, he was rude and obnoxious. To add insult to injury he charged almost triple more than the retail price for the parts. He is totally devoid of manners. I did notice when a Caucasian man came to pick up a mower while I was there his whole demeaner changed suddenly he no longer was screaming and I think he even said "Thank You". So I think if you are of the right persuasion and don't mind being extremely overcharged he's the old man for you. If not go to Witty's in West Seattle. He sold me parts for my mower at retail price, was fair and didn't try to add unnecessary parts He did an extremely good job and most of all he knows how to talk to people and is very kind. read more

I am writing a review to warn others about my experience with Pete. We had a pressure washer repaired by him. He indicated that he would call to let us know the issue and cost. He never did. My husband called to find out the status initially (after a week) and he hadn't started to repair it. In any case, this was during Covid-19 and we went out town as we have a family member with a compromised immune system. Pete claims that he left a vm to have us pick it up. We went thru all of our messages and don't have one. When we finally spoke he was irate and said we had to pick it up immediately, that he doesn't have storage room. We couldn't get there for a couple of weeks because we weren't in town. When I picked it up, at his house which is where his business is located in the back alley, he started yelling at me. He was extremely nasty, and continued yelling and making snide remarks. I started feeling on edge and afraid for my personal safety. I didn't say anything the entire time he was yelling and just got the hell out of there after lifting the damn pressure washer into the car myself! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! We took our lawn mower in and asked him how long it would take to repair, he said two or three days. Then four days later he said he would have to take it to Lynnwood Honda because he couldn't fix it. We asked how long it would take and he said it would be a week. Then after not hearing from him a week later, I called to find out what was going on with the lawn mower and he said he didn't know and was waiting for them to call him. Shouted at me and interrupted me as I was trying to find out an estimate of time and possible cost. After not getting an answer from him I called Lynnwood Honda to find out what was going on. They said that they just got the lawn mower three days ago and haven't even looked at it yet. He will not communicate with me to let me know an estimate. Worst customer service ever. read more

He did a routine maintenance on it and everything was hunky doory. He also helped me learn how to start this acquired lawn mower of mine. I've taken my lawn mower to Pete three or more times over the past ten years or so, and every time dealing with Pete is just a chore. He does a perfectly fine job of repair, but honestly, dealing with his personality issues is just not worth it. The problem is, and I don't know a better way to describe him, but the guy is really just a bit of an asshole. I am sure there is a more delicate way to describe him, but not a more accurate one. Every step with him is just a chore, from calling to find out when you can drop off the machine (he operates out of his garage behind his house and has no real hours of operation, and pulling when it would be ok to drop off the machine is like negotiating with Vladimir Putin), to discussing the work to be done (he barks and chooses the most abrasive possible way to convey each bit of information), to finding out when you can pick it up. He's just a pain. Today he hollered at me when I tipped the machine to look under to see the new blade he had installed. ("Don't tip it to the side! That's the worst thing you can do!" "Ok Pete, how should I look at the new blade?" "Have you thought to try to tip it backward? Try that." "Ok Pete, very sorry to have transgressed.") I have thick skin and it really doesn't matter in the end, but who needs it when there are plenty of alternatives. I don't think he likely received high marks in the Plays Well With Others category on his report card in Elementary School. read more
