Rob is the real deal! Service, integrity, honesty, fair to generous with respect to value. I expect to return whenever I need Rob's services. Insightful, knowledgeable...and unfortunately, a dying breed...this is the type of business to support before they're all gone. I brought my pressure washer in because I'd neglected to winterize it appropriately...and...no surprise...this spring, it didn't turn over...took it to Rob...he gave me a ball park estimate...and when I came in to pick up, was pleasantly surprised to see a lower total on the ticket! Glad I made it in, too...seems like Rob will be off on an extended break (I believe he said something like a month) beginning tomorrow (THU, 18-MAY-2022)...but if you a service he can provide, I'd get in touch with him and be in line when he returns! Heads up on contacting...even though he's responded to inquiries via Yelp and text messaging, I found it best to simply make a telephone call. And if you find yourself dropping off or picking up at Rob's...or simply in the area, there's a great dive-y burger joint called Smokey's nearby...I believe I posted a review for as well...I think it's called "Smokey's Char-Broiled"...which I totally recommend...but it gets busy during typical lunch hours! read more

I absolutely recommend taking your mower to Rob. He was great to work with, got my mower up and running after several years without use. And you won't end up with unnecessary expenses at the end of the day: I asked Rob if the blades needed sharpening, he took a look and told me they looked pretty good instead of charging me for something that wasn't needed. What a nice man! I called inquiring about sharpening some very specific tools, he told me that the type of sharpening I wanted done wasn't a service that he could offer, gave me pointers on finding a affordable service to meet my needs. You could just tell that he was a genuine and caring individual. Don't see that often enough. When I do have tools in his purview to be serviced or sharpened I'll bring them directly here. read more

Rob is such a super nice guy! You can tell he really takes pride in what he does by the way he talks about his process. He sharpened 4 of my kitchen knives for under $30 and they are SHARP! On Wednesday I took my mower in for blade sharpening, new air filter, a new right rear tire and an oil change. He said he would order the tire but get on the other things so I could get it back in a couple days. A week passed and I called to check on it - spoke to his wife and she said she would call back. I didn't get a call back so the next day I called for the status. He asked what brand it was (I mistakenly said Craftsman when its a John Deere). He couldn't find it. I drove to the shop to look for it and retrieve it. I found it but there was no slip on it identifying it was mine or what was to be done. Nothing had been done on it! Joke.... I will take any small engine repair back to Rob without question. This is who you take repairs to. The man knows his small engines. Why three stars you say? Rob is a person who will do the job right. The only reason I can't give him the 2 extra stars is that he quoted a price, and once he started the work, found more work needed to be done. Instead of calling us and giving us this information and a new quote, he did the work anyway. The problem is the price went up from $80 to $120. I don't disagree with the work but the mower we brought in was bought for $125 used. Personally I don't believe in throwing machinery out when it needs repairs, and it works great post repair, but I would have liked for Rob to call us and let us make the decision. He did offer to "un-do" the work and put the old parts back on, but at this point it was better to have the mower back. read more

I was referred to Rob a couple of years back by a neighbor, who highly recommended him. He runs his home (lawn mower repair) business out of his garage/shop in a residential neighborhood (as do I, coincidentally). At any rate, I left him a message but didn't hear back, so dropped by during the business hours stated on his card. Although Rob was pleasant enough, he sort of chided me for dropping by without calling first (there's nothing on his card about calling first), citing his neighbors might get upset at increased foot traffic. I thought this odd, considering he's got a huge sign on the front of his garage saying "ROB'S REPAIR, Ring bell for service." I mean, it's not like I unloaded a lawn mower from my car in front of his house; I just parked and walked up to his door. Well, I was put off enough not to go back, frankly, but here I am, a couple years later, because somebody gave me a free lawn mower. It seems to be in fine shape, but I wanted someone to go over it for me and get it up to speed and sharpen the blades, so I again thought of Rob. Same routine -- I left a message but didn't hear back, so I dropped by again. Spoke with Mrs. Rob and told her I had left a message and didn't hear back. Instead of offering an apology for not calling back and saying she would have him call, she suggested I call Rob again at a specified time. He's got three different phone numbers on his card -- Shop, Shop, and Cell -- how is a person supposed to know which one to call when?? Ayayay. Well, here I am -- again -- days later, and I still haven't heard from Rob. What does a person have to do to get this amazing Rob to return a phone call and conduct business?? I'm at a loss... I like to funnel my business locally when possible too, but flaky/unprofessional home-business owners who can't be bothered (or organized) enough to return business calls have NO place in my Rolodex. Obviously, the same rude/ignorant treatment a second time is what prompted this review. I'll just drag my lawn mower to Lowe's or some other place, and to heck with Rob. At least at Lowe's my presence and value as a customer will not only be acknowledged, but appreciated. Thanks for nothin', Rob -- AGAIN. read more

Rob sharpened my reel style lawnmower and three chain saw chains literally overnight. 24 hour service, which probably isn't usual, but he had them back to me way sooner than estimated. I dropped my reel-type, manual mower off at Rob's on a Tuesday afternoon (it had been leaving uncut streaks in the lawn). They gave me a quote of $55 for sharpening. The next morning Rob phoned to tell me that the mower was ready and that it had not needed sharpening at all--it just needed a bed-knife adjustment, which Rob performed for $22 plus tax. The mower works very well now. I could not be more pleased! One thing is that Rob would like you to phone ahead to make sure someone will be there when you arrive. read more
