In spite of all this I purchased a shiny axe with a dark oak handle from them, in part because I wanted to support a local business and in part because it seemed balanced and looked nice. It was not cheap. Now one year later I see that the chrome plating now has some black spots that will not rub out, even though it has been sitting in my bedroom the whole time and I have not used it to cut anything. A quick google search finds that: "This problem of black spots which you are facing seems related to base material defect which you might have failed to notice during pre cleaning stage and the same is appearing over a period of time once plating is completed." In summary- this blade smith sucks.

I bake bread every week for my husband's lunch and of course he likes artisan bread. It was beginning to get dull and the slices were sticking in the blade at the end, so it was ripping them. I contacted Mark for sharpening and he quoted me about $10 which I thought was a real bargain as I thought I was going to have to buy a new slicer. I drove out to his place the following day in the early morning and he greeted me at his garage with a kind smile. He dismantled my slicer and said I could wait. It took him a bit longer than he expected because this man is a perfectionist, and he was doing an excellent job! Watching a professional sharpen something like this is a real treat, and his fearlessness with sharp objects was quite impressive. I know he does gun shows and sharpens peoples pocket knives, etc., during those. If you ever need anything sharpened, I highly recommend his services! Also, he's a cool down to earth person.

Steve and I were quite impressed with the various knife selections for all of your kitchen needs. Very cool! We definitely have a place to keep in mind when we need to upgrade our knives for cooking. In additional to that there are seasonal spices and such here. They have a lot of neat gadgets and kitchenware in various price points and a reasonably priced sharpening and repair service. The community is lucky to have them and I will definitely be back. They also were willing to sell me a knife that is part of their restaurant collection- quality blade from a respected manufacturer with a cheap unbranded handle because for a paring knife, who cares what the handle looks like? I will be back to get my knives sharpened and whenever I need new kitchen stuff or a housewarming present!

Always depended on his great service to keep my scissors sharp. JoAnne's in Bellevue was the closest area of service for me since there are not many retail fabric stores open any longer.
