Maybe it was an off day, but was our first time today and I wasn't too impressed. Friends and I came for brunch. I ordered the Brisket Benedict with polenta. They were out of polenta. The poached eggs were over medium so no creamy runny yolks. The brisket was just mediocre. The harissa hollandaise was good. My friend had the blueberry waffle platter. The waffle was cold, as was the syrup, hardly any blueberries. My other friends shared the chimichanga which they said was delicious. I expected better. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Well.. we tried them again and confirmed our last visit was not just an off day. seems to be an attitude that they're doing us a favor by eating there. I had they're "roasted duck" special and it tasted like ham. When I mentioned it to the server all I got was a " I'll mention it to the kitchen". Drinks were over priced as well. The only reason I gave them even 2 stars is because the waitress was efficient and cordial. Silverton doesn't have a lot of choices but these guys are definitely off our list. read more

The food at Magnolia is out of this world delicious. We've been here on a number of occasions and have NEVER been underwhelmed. Every dish has always impressed us with how good it looks but more so in technique and FLAVOR!!! For example: the chicken Marsala is so special! Perfectly cook chicken with the most wonderfully creamy and zippy wine sauce. Tonight we had the special. A creative and perfectly executed rendition of chicken and dumplings. It was almost like a deconstructed chicken pot pie with the most incredible mushroom cream sauce. Deep fried potato gnocchi was brilliant with the pop of fresh peas, carrots and a brightness coming from the roasted red peppers! The icing on the cake is the wonderful staff. After taking a tour of covered bridges, we stopped here to have dinner before going all the way back home to Tigard. My husband ordered Fettucine Alfredo with Chicken, I ordered the Fried Brussel Sprouts with a side order of noodles, and our granddaughter ordered the Chicken Gnocchi. All of us enjoyed our meals. However, my husband said he'd ask to go a little lighter on the garlic next time. I absolutely loved the Brussel Sprouts and would drive out of my way to have them again. Our granddaughter, an expert on pasta, said the Chicken Gnocchi was delicious. Even though the place was filled with a lot of folks when we arrived, we still felt the service was good. Our food server, Christine, was so friendly. She made us feel right at home. Being from out of town and having no idea where to go, we really felt blessed to have stumbled upon this place. I have eaten at this restaurant at their other location in Mount Angle and was looking forward to the opening in Silverton. The food may be good... but don't be fooled... A friend and I rushed down the hill without changing out of our work clothes so we would be in time to dine in... Only to be very rudely turned away at 8:30. This restaurant clearly states that they are open until 9:00pm. It is extremely unprofessional to list a closing time only to refuse service. We were initially greeted by one server (?) who welcomed us and said 'yes we are open'. Only to have another woman glance at her watch and rudely say they were closed! After driving 25 miles only to be turned away will forever stick in my memory... My friend was actually planning on having her 15 year anniversary there... Needless to say thay have lost that booking as well! I was hoping to be able to recommend this place to my vacation rental guests... Not now. I usually dine out at least once a week and my bill would come to well over $50 for 2. They have lost me and my guests as well as a steady stream of potential customers. I am booked every night of the week, so that is a big loss. Think 'Pretty Woman'... Big Mistake! They also really need to consider a remodel, as the dining room is very outdated, dark and the design is kinda tacky.... You guys really need to up your game... read more

Me and my girl stopped in town to see my cousin and her husband, and this place was at the top of their recommendations. Turns out it's also our hotel as well. This place is super clean, great vibe and up to date! We where seated by a super friendly staff, and man oh man! The food is amazing! Like out of this world! Everything from surf and turf to salmon. Stopped in tonight for the first time. I enjoyed the Chicken Linguini with pesto sauce and Husband had Coconut Shrimp appetizer and a side salad. Both were delicious, prepared with care, and arrived in good time. The shrimp was lightly hand-breaded with a delicious dipping sauce. My pasta dish was perfectly cooked and portion was just right. For dessert my husband had the peanut butter mousse (creamy and delicious) with a blueberry merlot reduction sauce...divine addition to the mousse. This is not an inexpensive place, it it is priced right for the quality and quantity you get. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the wait staff very well informed about the food and options. This is a great special date night restaurant it I suspect I'd visit here for lunch on a weekend. Give it a try, very worth your short drive to beautiful Mt. Angel. read more

We go to Oktoberfest and we try this little grill's Carne Asada tacos and Garlic Fries. Hiding in plain site, across from the Glock restaurant, and conveniently empty mid-day of the fest. Tonight was my first time dining here. As we walked towards the building, I was in awe of the beautiful Christmas tree in the window, and decorations inside and out. Not only is the building itself quaint, but the inside is tastefully decorated and cozy with a stunning wood fire burning in a beautifully crafted fireplace! I had heard the food was amazing, so decided to meet up with friends. I have to be gluten-free, and was pleasantly surprised when the chef came out to our table to make sure my meal would be made with care. Many options on the menu are gluten-free friendly. We started with an appetizer, brussel sprouts. WOW! The sauce was so delicious!! I ordered the brisket, and my husband ordered the rib-eye and shrimp. Hubby said it was the best shrimp he's ever eaten, and he's PICKY! Rib-eye was tender and so flavorful! The brisket was AMAZING! I normally don't get dessert, but found out they have gluten-free carrot cake, and a gluten-free chocolate torte. They were both the bomb! I will DEFINITELY be going back! Four of us went for dinner with little notice for my birthday. The entire experience was superb from the moment Susie greeted us until we walked out the door after our sumptuous desserts. The food was delicious, with generous portions @ an attractive presentation. The atmosphere was laid back classic with Sinatra-type music barely loud enough to hear. First off, the Yelp software may not allow of describing staggered open hours. The true open hours are Tu-Sat 11-2, 5-9. Expensive for just OK food and a scant pour of wine. Service was impeccable. It's different cuisine from the prevailing German, probably something Mt. Angel needed, but I can't see it supplanting the competition except on the basis of service. read more

We went there for our anniversary and came away thrilled to find a new favorite. Service was excellent, the ambiance was really nice- comfortable but special. A lovely fireplace, wood wainscoting balanced by lofty ceiling and cheerful decor. It felt like home. The food was fantastic. We both had the rib eye and though we're very finicky, they were done perfectly. The loaded potato cake served with was so flavorful and not gummy, as they often are. Drinks were strong and tasty. Dessert was maybe four stars instead of five but still very good. My creme brûlée was a little grainy and the caramel was burnt a bit more than I like. But those are quibbles. Excellent service in this sort of "throw-back" restaurant. Christine was the best waitress we've had the pleasure of meeting in a long time, refreshingly friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare and the asparagus was terrific, cooked through but still with a slight crunch. When you first walk in you are greeted with a musty smell that goes with old buildings. It eventually goes away. The prices are too expensive for what you get. They are trying to be an upscale restaurant, but miss the mark. First, when they brought the side salad there was no salt and pepper on the table. Most upscale restaurants will ask if you want freshly ground pepper. That didn't happen. We had to ask for the s & p. Next they brought the entree's when we were only a 1/4 of the way through the salads. That's a big no-no. Now you have to decide whether to eat your entree cold, so you can finish the salad. We both ordered pasta. It was good, had great flavor, but the portions were small. That being said we obviously had room for dessert. We decided to spilt one, and was disappointed at the size of it. The whipped cream that came with the dessert was unsweetened, which is kind of weird. Overall, the food was good but just too expensive. read more

This place was superb! We had the salmon and shrimp piccata pasta which had an amazing creamy sauce with pops of sweet roasted tomatoes. The Caesar salad had homemade dressing and was excellent.
