Great service, we had a group of 10. Pleasant ambiance. Gumbo is great as is the Shrimp Po 'Boy. Not a fan of collards combined with corn ... my mistake for not reading description. Sampler appetizer was good although the Pimento Cheese would have been more enjoyable with something to spread it on. Prices were as everywhere else. Others in our group didn't order the more Southern dishes which is the whole reason to go to Magnolia. I'll go again and try something else on the menu. Been here a few time some stuff is four star, some three, some five. Overall pretty good place in downtown Sedro Wolley. Fish and chips is a five star and two filets are perfect. Tasty. Classic Burger got a nod from the Pops. Chicken was a touch salty. Their cheesecake is just ok but that Mamaw pie is ridiculously good and that is why this place gets a 5 star. My son ate here for his Freshman homecoming with a group of friends. He ordered ribeye steak - while he said the steak came out at the perfect temp (med rare), the steak itself was inedible. He had one bite, said it didn't taste good and didn't finish. I would be willing to give to this restaurant another shot. The owner did take our concern into thought and offered a refund after trying a cooked steak herself and agreeing. We've heard great things about Magnolia and would be willing to try again once she changes her meat manufacturer. read more

Discovered this little gem in downtown Sedro-Woolley, a town not known for its culinary excellence. Anyway they've got comfort food DOWN!!! It was a Friday, early evening and the place wasn't busy but with Covid spacing it was almost to its max inside the restaurant portion. They also have a bar area. They offer a 10 oz portion of prime rib on Fri/Sat so the wife opted for that. She said it was excellent, cooked to order, tender and tasty. It came with a choice of potato, $1 extra for a baker, and fresh sautéed vegetables- green beans, zucchini and roasted garlic cloves. She chose a cup of chowder over a salad. The chowder was a little thin but had great flavors. I was torn between the meatloaf and the buttermilk fried chicken. In the end I chose the chicken. I got three large tenderloins, buttermilk battered and fried, covered in a house made country graveyard seasoned with their homemade Tarheel sausage. They were very good. A little overcooked but tasty nonetheless. My side was mashed potatoes and gravy plus the aforementioned fresh vegetables. I chose a Magnolia salad, a $3 upcharge, loaded with all sorts of goodies and a balsamic vinegarette. The service was good and attentive without being overbearing. Our waters were kept full. The prices were actually more than fair - the prime rib was $20 and my chicken dinner was $16. First off, let me be honest, and say I'm grading on the curve here. Poor Sedro-Woolley has been the butt of jokes, and a decent dining wasteland for decades. Yeah, there's a great pizza place, and a couple of good Mexican restaurants, and that's it. We heard Magnolia Grill had opened up a while back, decided to give it a try. Magnolia Grill has both a bar area, and a family dining space. The decor is spare, but pleasant. I like their paint scheme and repurposed doors and window frames, feels kinda like a Joanna Gaines vibe. I had the Chicken Marsala, with the seasonal veggies. Could have had a baked potato or smashed potatoes, but it felt like a fries night. They were great, nice and crispy and tasty. The green beans and red bell peppers were cooked perfectly, not turned into mush. Loved the caramelized onions with them, a nice touch. The Marsala Chicken was good, the chicken fork tender. My wife had the Lemon Rosemary Chicken, which came with a blackberry brandy sauce reduction. It looked wonderful, I got a taste of the sauce, it was enticing enough that I have to try it next trip. She loved it! So, their wine list ... well, this IS Sedro-Woolley. My wife had an acceptable Chardonnay, I had an acceptable Syrah. Hoping they up their game a bit there. They do have a great selection of beer! We were bummed that they don't have wild-caught Salmon on the menu, hoping as their business grows they can add that. One couple we saw ordered the Surf n Turf, looked like a good choice for meat eaters. All in all, we are excited that we now have a decent place to eat in Sedro! read more

My how things have changed! Just had dinner in this quaint restaurant which has had a menu change, with an elimination of the prime rib dinners on Friday nights. I'm sorry to say that I don't believe this restaurant will be in business long. The prices have gone up, quality and quantity has gone down for the price. On a Friday night, only one other couple was in the restaurant. I had the Buttermilk chicken which was one chicken breast smashed flat and fried. The chicken was not crispy as the grease was obviously not hot enough in the frier. I chose mashed potatoes for my side for $18. No salad and no bread for accompaniments as before. As usual, the server was fantastic, the place is quiet, although for price to quality comparison, not worth the trip. I didn't take photos as I should have but you get the gist. read more

I had the Spicy H.O.G. - Heap of Goodness! It was packed with house smoked ham, shredded pork, sweet potatoes, Swiss cheese, chipotle ranch, and some kind of marinated jalapenos, served on a toasted baguette. Prime rib nice thick cut perfectly rare the risotto though; just a touch more seasoning it was perfectly executed fresh vegetables, slightly oily but crisp and flavourful. My second outing and pleasantly surprised for Sedro Woolley. Service is attentive and on point. Salad is chopped crisp and flavourful, nothing exciting and no in house deserts. My main reason for 4 stars, hopefully take advantage of the market when fresh fruit comes in season. Tonight my wife and I decided to go in the restaurant for dinner, she got the creamy chicken marsala and I had the smothered pork chops, my dinner was pretty good, potatoes were cold, my asked for a baked potato with everything, the potato was old and cold? The whole plate was swimming in sauce? Even the old and cold baked potato was in sauce! The potato had to have been cooked earlier in the evening and reused for my wife's dinner, the inside was not flaky like a normally fresh cooked potato it was a lump of cold potato? We loved that place! But I fear we will never go back! Sedro-Woolley needs good places to eat! But we've lost one!!! Extremely sad read more

The atmosphere is very warm and cute. I've had some hit and misses over the past few years but generally the food is very good and the service is always nice. I'll get the same thing and it's completely different sometimes I'm guessing by different cooks maybe I know the past year has been tough on everyone....but I had shrimp and grits when it first came out and it was so good then it started getting to be this awful dark red color and less creamy and kinda dry and too spicy and hardly any sauce. I got it again last night I thought I'd try it again it's been about a year since I tried it last and it was just like it was when I first got it a few years ago. Saucy and delicious just the right amount of spice please do NOT change it again!!! It was sooo good. If it was like what it was last night (Wednesday) it would be my number one recommendation if it's like what I had a year ago I wouldn't tell people about it so we will see. However some solid stuff is the Big Pig that's always the same and their pulled pork is delicious. The turkey has nice slices and doesn't seem to be that fake stuff you get at other places. They have some sauce they put on the turkey sandwich that is garlicky really makes the sandwich. All in all a great place inWoolley! We love to support small businesses so I added an extra star but the food here was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant, it was flavorless and we were concerned that it was safe to eat as it had strange flavors and seemed old and microwaved. My husband ordered an apple juice and it looked like some spit or snot was inside his drink. We had a kind waitress but the staff was so stressed we felt like a burden and tried to be as quick as we could. Plates were being shattered and the food was overpriced and it was just not a good experience. New to the are thought we'd try some local restaurants. Arrived Friday afternoon at 3:30pm, sandwich board sign on the sidewalk says prime rib Friday. We walked in and the place was empty. The waitress came to our table gave us menus then disappeared, we sat a good 15 minutes before she returned. I ordered the prime rib because that's what the menus said "prime rib 3pm-8 " I was immediately told no prime rib until 4pm, well that's not what the menus said. We argued for a minute, I wasn't happy. Instantly disappointed, I had to change my selection after she told me it wasn't available until 4pm regardless of what the menu said. So I ordered the Cajun shrimp fettuccine with creole red sauce. Absolutely disgusting, tasted like a frozen food meal off the aisle at Safeway out of the microwave, also served with white bread and some butter on the side for $18, I was ripped off. My wife ordered the meat loaf, another major disappointment, absolutely horrible! Tasted like cooked plain hamburger with brown gravy on it. Don't go here, you will thank me. I really wanted to like this place the menu looked good. But the execution was awful. I had the bourbon brisket with no flavor at all. It almost tastes like boiled meat. The only good thing was the salad and the dressing blue cheese. So far, I've had the ribeye, the pulled pork sandwiches, a pork chop, the meatloaf (no, it wasn't floating in ketchup like some places). My wife like the friend chicken, and the salads are always fresh. We sent the kiddo and her friends for dinner before Homecoming, and since we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel, we ate Easter Dinner there. Great staff. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly both times I've come here. Food is pretty good, though I did have a few issues with my last order. I ordered the turkey dinner which was supposed to be turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and cranberry sauce. We ordered to-go (covid) and when I opened the box, it was turkey, green beans, and a baked potato (no stuffing, no mashed potatoes) - I understand though that mistakes happen and my husband enjoyed his meal very much. I was disappointed just given that the reason I ordered was the stuffing - it just sounded so so good. So to open the box and have 2 of the items not as advertised, I was pretty disappointed. Overall, everything we've had has been pretty good. Was let down also by the crab/artichoke dip, only because it is listed on the site as crab artichoke, but it has a *very* strong horseradish flavor, which can be jarring when you're not expecting it. Not a fan of horseradish, so that would probably be nice to note on the description for anyone who's not big into the flavor, I feel it's pretty split on who does/doesn't enjoy it. We came here last week for a birthday brunch. I wanted to like this place so badly and have heard so many good things. The menu looked amazing and I was excited to try it out. The atmosphere is very nice, and they did do a great job decorating. We sat in the back where they had what looked like a bar and I really liked the look of the galvanized steel they used. Very sleek. They front part of the restaurant was filled with couples, but it looked liked there was just one server. Time moved. We slowly. It probably took a half hour before our order was taken. It seemed like when the waitress wasn't out delivering food her and the rest of the staff were in the back chatting. You know they were all back there chatting because sound carries in that back room. Our food all came out at different times. There were six of us there but the rest of the party started to eat before I got mine because they said they didn't want their food to get any colder. My food finally came and the waitress said it took longer because of a mistake that was made while ordering. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was alright. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and he said he wished he had ordered something different because it wasn't very tasty. (He is pretty easily pleased so I was surprised by this statement). I will say that our waitress was very calm and collective and she seemed to work well in situations. She was kind but I think they were understaffed. At one point while we were waiting for our food the coffee overflowed all over the ground and what appeared to be a busser came out and walked around the mess and got himself a soda or some beverage to drink.
