    Fish and Chips

Been here a few time some stuff is four star, some three, some five. Overall pretty good place in downtown Sedro Wolley. Fish and chips is a five star and two filets are perfect. Tasty. Classic Burger got a nod from the Pops. Chicken was a touch salty. Their cheesecake is just ok but that Mamaw pie is ridiculously good and that is why this place gets a 5 star. That pie you could eat every day and be a fat happy camper!

First off, let me be honest, and say I'm grading on the curve here. Poor Sedro-Woolley has been the butt of jokes, and a decent dining wasteland for decades. Yeah, there's a great pizza place, and a couple of good Mexican restaurants, and that's it. We heard Magnolia Grill had opened up a while back, decided to give it a try. Magnolia Grill has both a bar area, and a family dining space. The decor is spare, but pleasant. I like their paint scheme and repurposed doors and window frames, feels kinda like a Joanna Gaines vibe. I had the Chicken Marsala, with the seasonal veggies. Could have had a baked potato or smashed potatoes, but it felt like a fries night. They were great, nice and crispy and tasty. The green beans and red bell peppers were cooked perfectly, not turned into mush. Loved the caramelized onions with them, a nice touch. The Marsala Chicken was good, the chicken fork tender. My wife had the Lemon Rosemary Chicken, which came with a blackberry brandy sauce reduction. It looked wonderful, I got a taste of the sauce, it was enticing enough that I have to try it next trip. She loved it! So, their wine list ... well, this IS Sedro-Woolley. My wife had an acceptable Chardonnay, I had an acceptable Syrah. Hoping they up their game a bit there. They do have a great selection of beer! We were bummed that they don't have wild-caught Salmon on the menu, hoping as their business grows they can add that. One couple we saw ordered the Surf n Turf, looked like a good choice for meat eaters. All in all, we are excited that we now have a decent place to eat in Sedro!

Not the best photo, but wanted to positively review Magnolia Grill in Sedro. We decided to try it the day after Christmas (who wants to cook December 26th? Not me!) and were pleasantly surprised. I placed my order online and when I pulled up and got out of my car there was the owner with my food! Great service. We had everything we needed in the bag, ready to go. I really enjoyed this dish, the creole style shrimp and grits, and would definitely get it again! We also got some burgers that were tasty too. We will be back.

Buttermilk fried chicken strips. The best we've ever had!

Five stars, no doubt. Very impressed with this new(er) place in downtown Sedro-Woolley. We stopped in before a basketball game and had a wonderful meal! My wife had the buttermilk fried chicken strips, which were amazing. The flavoring was great; the chicken really tender. Probably the best she's ever had, she said. I had the Spicy H.O.G. - Heap of Goodness! It was packed with house smoked ham, shredded pork, sweet potatoes, Swiss cheese, chipotle ranch, and some kind of marinated jalapenos, served on a toasted baguette. Like a Cubano sandwich, but even better! The crinkle-cut fries that came with both our meals were perfectly prepared. We both had food to take home for later that night. Service was wonderful. We'll definitely be back in the next time we're in Sedro-Woolley!

Delicious breaded chicken breast medallions smothered in Tarheel sausage gravy... YUMMMMM

We had a delicious meal for dinner! Breaded chicken medallions smothered in Tarheel gravy...homemade mac'n'cheese with pulled pork...the "Big Pig" sandwich with pulled pork and a slab of fried Mac'n'cheese...and prime rib dip...all with in-house brewed sweet iced tea! More food than you can eat, and it was all DELISH! Make sure you stop by for a great meal and great service when you are in Sedro-Woolley!

Prime rib, like you know you should.

By myself at the bar. Artichoke and aioli. Cooked perfectly seasoning correct. Great combination of flavor. Prime rib nice thick cut perfectly rare the risotto though; just a touch more seasoning it was perfectly executed fresh vegetables, slightly oily but crisp and flavourful. My second outing and pleasantly surprised for Sedro Woolley. Service is attentive and on point. Salad is chopped crisp and flavourful, nothing exciting and no in house deserts. My main reason for 4 stars, hopefully take advantage of the market when fresh fruit comes in season. This is actually a place to have a nice dinner in town that isn't ethnic or in a bar full of yahoos. Worth a try if you haven't been.

    Turkey pot pie. So good!

I waited awhile for my food (thank God for smartphones) but when it came I was impressed with the presentation (this is upscale for bar food) and the Iron Mountain Burger was a most excellent kick-ass burger, and just what I was looking for. Had the house salad with it because I'm trying to eat healthy... thousand island because I'm not trying very hard. What more can I say about this? Food was excellent, and I detected none of the attitude other people have talked about. If you want a burger and a bit of rustic atmosphere, check this place out.

This will be my final time trying it. My daughter really wanted the garlic fries and those were actually the only thing that was good. Her chicken was very stringy. My sandwich was burnt on half. Of course that's the half they put down on the plate. And I had a BLTA and it literally had barely any avocado on it. I ended up eating it open faced with one piece of bread. Very sad for what use to be a fun hometown place. I can't say the service was good.

The first was my birthday last year, chosen by a friend (I'd never heard of it). This year I was asked where I wanted to go. I did not hesitate to say here! I couldn't be anything other than delighted in my decision--from the pleasantness inside, the wonderful view from our window, the delightful staff and the incredible food and drinks, this place is wonderful. Lucky me that my birthday was on a Wednesday so I could be totally influenced to have oysters-on-the-half shell due to a generous Wednesday night special. I do love raw oysters--and these were so tiny and briny and so incredibly good, I could have eaten five dozen! (I am kicking myself for not finding out what kind they were, but no matter. I would be happy with any they are serving here, I am sure.) I had already planned on having the Oysters Rockefeller (known here as Manor Rockefeller), and so, despite having just downed some oysters, I went ahead anyway and am glad I did! They were wonderful. And there was no real reason for me to pause for a moment in my decision, having already had oysters, because these were soooooo different. It was almost like eating a delicious oyster casserole in a shell. The Mediterranean Mussels were wonderful! (Notice, I was having a dinner of appetizers...) The broth they came in was beautiful (and drinkable, if one were so inclined). I loved the surprising tastiness of the Mama Lil's Peppers swimming around in it. At first I wondered if they would be too hot and compete with the flavor--overwhelming it--but no! Not at all. They were a perfect and flavorful touch. Absolutely wonderful. (And having said that, I know that "pepper heat" is an individual thing--I can tolerate a goodly amount, fyi--I just didn't taste these as hot at all.) Our server, Drew, was immensely helpful (and always charming!) He paired our food with a delicious wine. I guess we would assign my bowl of clam chowder to the dessert category--very thick and creamy--along with a lovely after-dinner cocktail, made by the wonderful and delightful bartender, Sherry. She made me a lovely mocktail to start--I asked Drew to have the bartender just make something up on a whim. It was pretty, colorful and delish with what in it, I have no idea. But, not only was it delectable, it was a vision! All festive and fuchsia, with a "bartender's cherry," and a hot pink umbrella. When I learned Sherry made it, I was so happy because I remembered her from last year--very skilled and very fun to chat with. A wonderful birthday--I highly recommend the Manor.

Case in point: I like dark beers, especially in cooler weather. They had a porter, which tasted tangy but not quite like a sour, and a stout, which mysteriously tasted very like an English porter, but too light a body for a stout, certainly no creamy head to speak of, and again that sour note. Whatevs. The drink menu is mostly chock-a-block with IPAs, blondes and lagers - ambers and darks are perhaps just not in their wheelhouse. We also came because they supposedly have a pool table here. And they do - tucked away in a dimly lit corner upstairs. We had to ask the waitress to turn on the lights for us, but only a mostly-burned out string of Costco tivoli lights served to illuminate the space. It was very hard to see the balls, or our food. Food? We had a flatbread pizza and Brussels. They were ok. They're probably better at sandwiches...again, we hit 'em where they ain't... So, the "up and down" bit: If you want to sit upstairs, fine, but you must order downstairs. Want to use a restroom? Downstairs. All done and ready to close tab? Downstairs. The bartender (running the place solo, apparently) was gracious and accommodating in bringing us food and refills upstairs, though, and we tipped accordingly. Good service. Not our particular cup of tea, perhaps, but give 'em a shot if you like IPAs and lagers, and don't care a whiff about pool or pizza. You might like it!
