I ordered the grilled cheese (comes with fries) from the kids/small bites menu. The portion size was surprisingly not that bad for a kids menu! The grill cheese was amazing. One of the best ones I've had in a while. My husband ordered the chicken fingers w/ a side of Caesar salad which comes with sauce and coleslaw. Funny thing- we were warned about the amount of garlic in the Caesar and oh boy! It's so good. Everything was great and definitely would recommend this to anyone in the area.

It was not quite where I want a 4 rating to be for customer service. The food was solid, but the cost didn't quite match the delivery. We may have hit them on a bad day, don't know. It does seem to be popular with the town's people - lots of people visiting at other tables for a quick chat, which is nice to see.

This is such a charming little restaurant, and we had an excellent brunch. Even though they were absolutely packed, the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, especially when it came to our two little dogs. We were the only ones sitting on the patio, and although it was lightly raining, that didn't stop the great service or delicious food. I started with a Pineapple Juice Mimosa, which I absolutely loved. My wife's latte was probably the one average part of the meal, but thankfully, everything else was fantastic. I ordered the Meat Lovers Hash, and it was so good! Hearty, flavourful, and exactly what I want from a brunch hash. My wife ordered the Smoked Salmon Benny, and she absolutely loved it. The Hollandaise sauce was especially delicious, and the eggs were cooked beautifully. Between the excellent food, friendly service, charming atmosphere, and how welcoming they were to us and our dogs, we really enjoyed our visit. The lineup is definitely justified! The ambiance is lovely and welcoming with a beautiful patio that features heaters for the cooler evenings. There is also live entertainment on some nights. The summer cocktail selection is impressive and we all enjoyed them to kick off the experience. The menu is quite limited which is not a bad thing for a restaurant focused on quality but I still found it to be a bit too limited. The wine selection is also quite limited. If you love your wines, like I do, I would bring my own and gladly pay the corkage fee. We had a little bit of everything from meats to pasta and fish. We shared for the table so that we each had the opportunity to try everything. There was nothing to complain about but it didn't "wow" us. In speaking with some longtime locals, I think the popularity of this place has meant that they no longer need to go above and beyond to satisfy the local crowd and cottagers who don't mind spending a lot on a nice night out. It was just that - a nice night out.

A pint of beer was still something silly like $5, and a burger and fries was only $9. There pasta was incredible, with way more sun-dried tomatoes than I ever could have imagined. And, their ridiculous dessert was a real treat. I don't think I have been able to go to a restaurant, fill myself and my partner, each of us have an alcoholic beverage, enjoy a dessert together, and leave a 30% tip (because of those prices if you're not increasing the percentage, the wonderful wait staff really get let down) all for under $60. Will I be back? I will. Honestly, if you were just going for lunch, it's hard to make a feeling lunch at home for the same price as you can get it there.

This was one of the rare places around the area that opened at 11 AM on Saturday so that was nice. The place provides the option of indoor dining, patio seating (weather permitting) and is pet friendly. (Some places unfortunately don't allow pets even with a patio so always good to call ahead to check first). The server was nice and attentive and offered my friends dog some water without us asking. The only downside when it came to service was the wait time. When we got a seat it was only us and one other table but we still had to wait quite some time for our food. The food itself was quite yummy. I had a strawberry pecan salad with grilled chicken while my friend had their burger with a side of gravy. The ingredients in the strawberry salad was fresh, the nuts were nicely candied and the chicken was juicy. It was refreshing to eat on a hot day and I felt quite satisfied after. In terms of the burger and the ingredients that went into making it, it was simple but once again, the ingredients were fresh and that's what makes a great burger. The gravy was that came on the side with the burger was additional $1.50 but in my option it was well worth it and went amazing with the fries. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again but if I was in a rush I would just order take out. TLDR: Attentive service, delicious food and fair prices, slightly longer wait time for food (If in rush, order take out)

We walked in at 7:00 p.m. and were seated immediately at a three-sided booth table, which was a little awkward for two people, but the simple rustic decor was enough charm to distract us. Our waitress was quite pleasant and saw to our order in timely fashion, adding to the homely charm. Food-wise we selected the three-course prix fix menu with both of us getting the wedge caesar salad, one Pan-Seared pickerel and one Tall Trees BBQ Trio of jerk chicken, short rib and baby back ribs. There was absolutely no complaints about any of the food, which was prepared and cooked to just the right level of tenderness and flavor. The only surprise which slightly caused our opinion to wobble was dessert: we ordered the creme brulée and with it came a cake pop, which is a little pastry treat with icing on top. Though the pastry was a nice bonus, it felt a little off to include with a classic Canadian dessert and didn't pair with it. Still, as a sucker for dessert, I'm not saying no to a two-for-one. Overall, this blind pic was not just a safe choice, but one that ended off a day of sightseeing with great food and service.

The classic pizza ($22.50) seemed like the ideal choice, essentially a pepperoni pie. While it wasn't terrible, it also wasn't good - the crust too hard and the tomato sauce tasted canned. It's certainly not the thin blistery Napoli pies their menu describes. If anything, it's something you'd find at Boston Pizza. At least it was covered with a decent amount of mozzarella to make it nice and gooey. Their lunch special, a Korean fried chicken sandwich ($20) was a popular choice. If they just charged a couple dollars more to use a thicker slice of chicken it'd be delicious. Unfortunately, the thin cutlet was too dry and the sweet sauce overwhelming. Even the coleslaw couldn't counteract the sugariness of the glaze. If anything, the potato wedges were the best part of the dish - an abundant portion of the hot and crispy spuds.

And we hadn't been bothered by mosquitos yet in Muskoka (apparently it had been "too hot"), so we'd been rather cavalier with the mosquito spray. Cue "Lord of the Valkyries" from "Apocalypse Now" with the entrance of the mosquitos. The mosquitos particularly seemed to be fond of the picante pizza. That's when they made their first appearance - I'm guessing it was because of the honey on the pizza - and they dissipated somewhat when the food was gone. Some candles would have been nice to help with our mosquito naivete but the restaurant didn't have any. We got a seasonal special of Niagara-on-the-Lakes peach caprese. They had me at peach, caprese, AND Niagara-on-the-Lakes (one of my favorite places). The dish consisted of peaches, bocconcini (small fresh mozzarella balls), cucumbers, and peach gazpacho. It was good but small and honestly I thought it would be better. We were told the aforementioned picante pizza (salami, fior di latte mozzarella, honey) was the most popular. The salami was cut too big so some bites were all salami and some bites were no salami. It was good but I'd get a different pizza in the future. There's a similar pizza ("the sweet and heat" at State of Mind) in Palo Alto near where I live that works a little better that's topped with bacon, jalapenos, and honey. The husband and daughter liked their margherita pizza. My favorite dish was the pappardelle with short rib ragu. Short ribs always make everything better. The server was really nice and volunteered some places to visit in Muskoka.
