8oz oz steak, disguised as 12 oz.

The place certainly has a charming vibe. The decor is rustic and matches the cottage wood feeling of the neighborhood. The staff are really attentive, and the food is very nice, but I ordered a 12 oz stead and got a small 8oz. I was hoping to get what I asked for... but I was still charged the price of a 12oz. I spoke to the wait staff about it, and they just said it's a 12oz, when the other three steaks at the table were actual 12 oz and the size difference was actually visible. That was quite disappointing. But the rest of the experiment was good. I did come with an appetite and I'm still kinda hungry after my meal...

Beef Dip Sandwich with side French Onion Soup

Sat on the patio in October as their inside dining room was full - it was a pretty mild day but there was a chill in the wind. The staff was attentive and offered suggestions. I had the beef dip sandwich with a side of French onion soup. The soup was great, and perfect for the fall day. The beef dip was good - I wish the au jus on the side was more liquid-y as it was more of a gravy, and I wish the side of horseradish aioli was actually on the sandwich. Otherwise, a nice spot to stop in Bracebridge.

Just enjoy. The food is soooo delicious at the Old Station in Bracebridge.

Simple Salad (entree size) with Pan Roasted Salmon

Nice restaurant in Bracebridge, Muskoka, with good selection of pub fare and Canadian food. The entree size of the Simple Salad is very colourful and satisfying, and comes with a choice of protein (I chose the pan roasted salmon, which came out to be quite big). Other menu choices include soups, salads, handhelds (such as sandwiches and wraps), and burgers. Dinner menu has more selection, ranging from fish with rice & veggies to vegetarian options (e.g. roasted squash with pesto marinara, vegetables medley, and rice). The inside has a dark wooden interior, giving you a "dine in the woods" feel. There is also covered patio in the front.

One of the best places to eat in Bracebridge I think. When I did a search there wasn't a lot for selection. Burgers seem to be popular but I wanted to try the special miso glazed salmon and flat iron steak. Sweet potato appetizer. The good: sweet potatoes fries are super good. Chunkier. mashed potatoes super yum with the steak. Asparagus perfectly executed The skin on the salmon was perfectly crispy like salmon skin sushi.great patio The ok: fish could of been fresher and the steak, We asked for it to medium rare but it came medium almost well done. Worth coming if you're in the area.

One of my fave restaurants around Muskoka. Their menu looks pretty standard but the food wows. Their fish is perfectly cooked and tender and tasty even though I'm not a big fish person I loved it. Their burger is huge and well seasoned and comes with a good sized soup or salad. Their gravy is too tasty to not order! Loved it better than ketchup. Make sure you get fries for one of your sides because they're delish! Their prime rib sandwich is so tender and tasty too. I wish I had more stomaches because there's so many other items we wanted to try. Hope to visit again soon!

Neat little hangout in Bracebridge. Came because the rating seemed promising. We ordered a French beef au jus sandwich, wings and fish and chips. Everything was pretty standard and the server was very helpful when we were making selections. Not too shabby for a small town and I wouldn't mind revisiting if I am in the area again.

Old Station Classic. French Onion Soup and Caesar Salad.

Like most micro breweries, they make a good local beer in different varieties. Tasting is possible. Food is good but on the pricey side.

I loved my experience in coming here!…read more The space was lovely, really old school vibe. They had a small bar inside, with seating and a beautiful patio outside. Its in the back of a lane, so its not off the street. Yet, Bracebridge is on the small side so, its pretty easy to find. I believe they also play some local bands. I'd say more about the bathroom being small and them having an ecclectic collection of photos and the like. Yet I do not fully recall all about the ins and outs. Its kinda vague for me. I find its always nice to look at that kinda thing. Makes me have an appreciation for not being the only Collector of the odd. The person that was working the day we went, absolutely phenomenal. He was on the cute side, super friendly and accomodating. I ordered the plant based burger with their in season, warmed beet and chard salad, yet what appeared on my dish was not plant based. I'm not entirely fussy about the juices of the beef or anything. However when I asked him about it, he promptly was willing to have the whole dish redone. He seemed rather appaled that he had made a mistake like that, given he was plant based himself. Perhaps it was me not being assertive enough, or perhaps something was missed when the order was taken, either way immediate action was taken to quickly rectify the situation. And it was awesome! This to me, bespeaks of going above and beyond, which is something I resonate strongly with because I am that type of way myself. Would definitely return.

Awesome spot tucked off the Main Street, well worth a visit!…read moreWarm friendly environment

Marinated and cured in an acid of lime and tomatoes, the fish takes on a pink hue in the ceviche ($16) and has the taste of a lighter Arctic char. It's wonderfully fresh, either by itself or scooped onto a crispy thin tortilla chip, the citrus acid nicely balanced with a hint of heat. The starter just needed more salt. In fact, all their dishes need more seasoning. Perhaps El Pueblito is trying to respect an ingredient's natural flavours or cater to Bracebridge's older demographic, but everything needed an extra hit of salt to finish the dish - maybe they should just leave some at each table. The same pickerel tasted completely different in the fish tacos ($20), once lightly grilled and topped with pineapple salsa. Since the fish isn't deep fried and there's not a typical slaw topping, the tacos are soft; I wish there was a crunchy element to provide textural interest - even some finely chopped bell peppers and red onion would be great. Still, the tacos were tasty - the corn tortillas chewy and fresh, and the spicy mayo and tomatillo salsa great condiments for the dish. The refried beans were rich and smooth, lovely on its own or smooshed into the rice. The grains get even better once you add in consommé and chopped onions (from the birria tacos). In the end, the fish tacos are a little soft but at least they're not messy to eat. Consequently, the complete opposite experience of having a birria taco ($20). Stuffed with beef and deep fried, these arrive blistering hot and need to be wrapped in a tissue to dunk. Having seen many people have the dish at food trucks, it's a wonder how anyone isn't covered in consommé and grease without a proper table and dishware. If you're ordering these, it's best not to wear white. The slowly cooked beef was plentiful and tender, but because under seasoned meat and consommé, we couldn't help feel that the birrias were missing something. I was waiting for a flavourful explosion to erupt, only to be met with a slow-moving stream of lava. The flavours improved once we added tons of the raw onion, cilantro, and avocado into the crispy hot taco, a few sparks in the lava stream. Saving room for churros ($10 for 6) is essential. When our server asked us whether we wanted six or ten of the pastries, I thought it must be a rehearsed question as why would two people need more than six? One bite into the hot hollow logs of fried dough and we were hooked. Dusted with cinnamon sugar they were already delicious, but a dunk into a creamy thick not-overly-sweet caramel and the dessert was absolutely sublime. Yeah, so maybe we could have devoured ten.
