With the traditional restaurant, we decided to stick with a conventional meal starting with a Caesar salad ($13) that's very garlicky - enjoyable for me but could be a lot for others. Topped with fluffy croutons, tender crumbled bacon bits, and Parmesan cheese slivers, it's a simple and classic take on the starter. The prime rib ($44) was surprisingly large for 8oz covered in a well-seasoned crust that was fairly salty, so much so that I wish the restaurant left their gravy (not au jus as the menu describes) on the side. At least there was plenty of horseradish to counteract the saltiness. The buttery mashed potatoes seem to have chunks of the spuds added into the mash giving the side a nice contrast. On the other hand, the asparagus became mush as it's served under the meat, and the Yorkshire pudding was airy but dry. I guess you can't win them all. The Old Station House doesn't take reservations, but fair-weather months offers additional seating along their wrap around porch along with their rustic dining room. Still, I'd recommend visiting early (or much later) to avoid disappointment, especially if you're in the mood for prime rib that's subject to availability. read more

We went to the Old Station on a beautiful weekend in October. We sat on the patio (party of 2). I had the cauliflower wings with a salad and my companion had the fish and chips. The food came out quickly, was delicious and fresh and a good sized portion. Our server was very pleasant and attentive and looked after us very well. I would highly recommend and go back in a second. read more

The place certainly has a charming vibe. The decor is rustic and matches the cottage wood feeling of the neighborhood. The staff are really attentive, and the food is very nice, but I ordered a 12 oz stead and got a small 8oz. I was hoping to get what I asked for... but I was still charged the price of a 12oz. I spoke to the wait staff about it, and they just said it's a 12oz, when the other three steaks at the table were actual 12 oz and the size difference was actually visible. That was quite disappointing. But the rest of the experiment was good. I did come with an appetite and I'm still kinda hungry after my meal... read more

We had just a light supper, but the steaks there look amazing really friendly nice staff. Has a very nice rustic old cottage wood and timber feel. I had the French Onion soup was really good read more

Sat on the patio in October as their inside dining room was full - it was a pretty mild day but there was a chill in the wind. The staff was attentive and offered suggestions. I had the beef dip sandwich with a side of French onion soup. The soup was great, and perfect for the fall day. The beef dip was good - I wish the au jus on the side was more liquid-y as it was more of a gravy, and I wish the side of horseradish aioli was actually on the sandwich. Otherwise, a nice spot to stop in Bracebridge. read more

The food was good, but despite the reviews, nothing spectacular. My wife and I were visiting the lake area from Pennsylvania and we went here based on a couple of recommendations. read more

Very disappointed in this restaurant. Had dinner this evening with a friend. The Cesar was delicious! Ordered the spinach dip for an appetizer. There were so many chips and bread with a small drop of spinach. The server actually apologized and said that it didn't look right. I then ordered the mussels, which I was told came from the east coast. They were so salty, which had to have been from the broth that I could only eat a few and had to throw the rest away. The salad my friend had looked good. But for $100 I left hungry. Not a restaurant I would recommend! read more

The service was great. The ambiance was nice. (we sat outside) My food was awful. I had the Caesar salad and the French onion soup. The lettuce was coated with mayonnaise. I assumed that was the Caesar dressing. My soup was bland with barely cooked onions. My wife said her beet salad was ok. Next time we are back I will suggest we go somewhere else. read more

Nice restaurant in Bracebridge, Muskoka, with good selection of pub fare and Canadian food. The entree size of the Simple Salad is very colourful and satisfying, and comes with a choice of protein (I chose the pan roasted salmon, which came out to be quite big). Other menu choices include soups, salads, handhelds (such as sandwiches and wraps), and burgers. Dinner menu has more selection, ranging from fish with rice & veggies to vegetarian options (e.g. roasted squash with pesto marinara, vegetables medley, and rice). The inside has a dark wooden interior, giving you a "dine in the woods" feel. There is also covered patio in the front. read more

One of the best places to eat in Bracebridge I think. When I did a search there wasn't a lot for selection. Burgers seem to be popular but I wanted to try the special miso glazed salmon and flat iron steak. Sweet potato appetizer. The good: sweet potatoes fries are super good. Chunkier. mashed potatoes super yum with the steak. Asparagus perfectly executed The skin on the salmon was perfectly crispy like salmon skin sushi.great patio The ok: fish could of been fresher and the steak, We asked for it to medium rare but it came medium almost well done. Worth coming if you're in the area. read more

Have to say I wasn't overly impressed with The Old Station, unfortunately. We went based on great reviews and left underwhelmed. The pricing was a bit high for the quality of the food, the fried fish was extremely dry and the broccoli soup was nearly inedible. The French onion soup and Caesar salad were good and the poutine was just meh. Our server was wonderful but the near empty restaurant at dinner should have been our first tip that we shouldn't expect to be wowed. All in all, an okay meal for a less than desirable price read more

One of my fave restaurants around Muskoka. Their menu looks pretty standard but the food wows. Their fish is perfectly cooked and tender and tasty even though I'm not a big fish person I loved it. Their burger is huge and well seasoned and comes with a good sized soup or salad. Their gravy is too tasty to not order! Loved it better than ketchup. Make sure you get fries for one of your sides because they're delish! Their prime rib sandwich is so tender and tasty too. I wish I had more stomaches because there's so many other items we wanted to try. Hope to visit again soon! read more

Like most micro breweries, they make a good local beer in different varieties. Tasting is possible. Food is good but on the pricey side.

Apparently they are not busy enough to keep their doors open to their advertised hours. I have been turned away by the staff 3 times this winter and have witnessed other parties being turned away at the same time. read more

Neat little hangout in Bracebridge. Came because the rating seemed promising. We ordered a French beef au jus sandwich, wings and fish and chips. Definitely agree with those who reviewed that it's great portion for the price paid! Found this place through YELP and was excited to try it out as comfort food for a day trip to the Muskoka region. Slapped in the middle of downtown on Manitoba road, this place is inviting with its shaded and sunny patio as well as its rustic indoors cabin feel. The menu has all the comfort food you can possibly be craving but I went for a chicken club sandwich and my boyfriend, a poutine burger. I expected to have sliced deli style chicken but it was an actual chicken breast on a true multigrain bun. The sauce of my meal is enough to have me go back if I am in the area again but I am also eager to try other items on the menu! Tv's are also spread across the bar so it makes it a great sit in pub as if you are just relaxing in a cabin in the muskoka. Great service and overall atmosphere. read more

I came here for lunch while I was in town for a funeral. The Old Station is located on the main strip in Bracebridge and was easy to find. There's free parking behind the government building just a few steps away. I have to preface this review by saying that I think the ratings on this place are waaaaay beyond what they should be, especially if you spend any time eating in Toronto. This is a solid 3-star establishment but the reviews on google would have you believe its a 4.5 or 5 star restaurant. Perhaps in Bracebridge it is, but overall, as someone who enjoys dining out, it was a 3. I came with my parents, we were seated right away and asked for a table a little further away from other patrons and the hostess did her best given how small the place is. It took a bit for our waitress to come by but she was very friendly when she did. My dad wanted a draft beer and they only had three beers on tap - scratch that, two beers on tap. The one he ordered was out and so he had to have something else. A bit disappointing, I would have expected them to have more beers on tap or more selection. I got the chicken and waffles for lunch and they were very good. They had a chipotle maple syrup which was tasty and then the chicken with white bbq sauce on top. I would have liked to have been given actual syrup too so that I could add more. Fried chicken and waffles requires LOTS of syrup for me and I wanted more. The chicken was nicely done and the whole plate was a good size, not too much and not too little. My primary complaint is about the temperature of the restaurant itself. We arrived and it was a cool day and we sat down, took our coats off and realized that we were still chilled because the restaurant was cold. There's two doors you walk through to get into the restaurant; the outer door tends to get left open by patrons who disregard the very clear 'please close the door' sign and then a cold draft wafts in pretty fast. The second door isn't really much of a door as it is a screen door or something so it lets lots of cold in. My dad had to get up twice to shut the door - the staff didn't seem to care about shutting it. I watched the hostess look up at the door and then go back to what she was doing as if it would close itself. All in, our meal was pretty good. I'd suggest avoiding this stop if its cold outside, the cold drafts really impacted my enjoyment of my lunch. But the food was good, everyone enjoyed their meals and we'd be back if we're in Bracebridge again. Note that this place is small; it probably couldn't seat more than 20-30 at one time, so if you're going with a group, call ahead. read more

the food was horrendous their specialty prime rib was very chewy and an abject failure YUCK

Buddy and I stopped in for dinner, so many choices, we had calamari, prime rib and the lamb burger, it was all fantastic!

Tried the old station tonight with myself, my wife and our four kids. The food was delicious and high quality and everyone enjoyed their meal. Everything tasted fresh and prepared with care. The waitress was nice, though slow at times and she left me waiting a long time before bringing out my bill even after I requested it. My only other complaint is the portions for the adults were small. I ordered the chicken dinner and it was fantastic but left me wanting a little more. My wife who is petite in size felt the same way after she ordered the special which was some kind of pasta. For $20 larger portions would be appreciated. We will definitely go back and look forward to trying the lunch menu as well. read more
