I'm a huge fan of farm-to-table restaurants that use local ingredients from farms and suppliers, so…read moreit makes sense that ever since I heard about Lamorna opening, I'd been wanting to try it out. It worked out since I was in the Muskoka area this week. I arrived around 3pm for a late lunch/early dinner and asked for a table for 1. When ordering, I asked if I could order the L, T & T (Lemon, Thyme & Tonic), but substitute the tonic for regular water. She confirmed that it was no problem. Since I also ordered a Mushroom Rotolo and of course the burger, she asked if she should bring the burger out after I was done with the first dish. I requested that it come out when it was ready since I wouldn't be finishing the app dish. After trying some of the Rotolo, I moved it to the side, so she came over and asked if everything was ok. I let her know that it was delicious and also remarked on the chef's creativity of shaping the maitake to look like shrimp! I asked for a box, so she took the plate and packed it for takeout. Then my burger came out! Definitely a must-order off the menu as it's indicated as being available all the time, unlike some of their other dishes that change seasonally. It was a really good burger! Cooked pink and topped with a great combination of condiments. Burger was juicy and meaty. The fries that came with it was also really really good chips -- thick cut, fried to the right crisp. Couldn't finish this either, so asked for it to be packed up as well. Sticky Toffee Pudding was the perfect way to complete my meal. The other must-order is their Sticky Toffee Pudding. Great texture, not overly sweet, and the Earl Grey Ice cream complimented it so well! The server was incredible! Attentive, polite, friendly, and more. After I left, also got a thank you for coming message from the Chef though social media. I thoroughly enjoyed my solo dining experience. Though when going again in the future, hoping to bring a friend or two so that I can try more dishes. Parking was so easy to find (and so close) as there's free street parking in front of the restaurant, but also across the street

I was up in Muskoka and we came here for dinner on a Saturday around 5pm and easily got our choice…read moreof seating but probably best to make a reservation just in case during prime time. I had my initial hesitations thinking it might be some basic pub food. Who knew this restaurant out in Gravenhurst is better than many Toronto restaurants in the city. One of my fav meals in a while. The Oar recently undergone a new concept change to Lamorna. While they still kept the Oar as their name given the familiarity and reputation of the previous restaurant concept, the menu and indoor decor has completely changed with a new chef in the last couple months. The menu is farm to table and it rotates weekly, and I can really taste the difference, which explains the more premium but reasonable price. Note a burger will always be on the menu and we really like their dry age burger, rich and the accompanying (what looks like hand/in-house cut) fries are so delicious, I wouldn't mind ordering more on the side. We also dined at their outdoor patio so our pups could dine with us. They so kindly brought over a water bowl for the dogs too! Towards the end of the meal, chef Ben came out personally to greet us and we can feel the passion and care he puts into his food. We asked about how he came to this restaurant and his inspo for his food and he told us it's from his travels. eg. why the schnitzel is thicker because he enjoys the thick katsu he had from Japan. He told us he recently sold two of his restaurants and decided to head up this restaurant after his travels. The chef actually goes around and sources ingredients directly from the farms and locally. We also appreciated the fresh pasta and thick cut schnitzel. We also absolutely love the eggplant and the croquettes too. Actually everything we had was a highlight and that's rare for me to find all the dishes impressive at a restaurant. Highly recommend order their bread service so you can use the bread to clean up the sauces from the remaining plates, as it's not included by default. I also love the charm of the plates and cutlery. They open a box of different knives you can pick a knife to use all vintage/second-hand and gave the feel that it's from grandma's home. Highly recommend this spot! The attention to detail, quality and personal service makes this spot special.

Was in Muskoka last week Thursday, so before driving home, stopped by Sawdust to grab some beers…read more I don't drink, so was actually picking up some for family and friends that I would be hosting for Thanksgiving weekend. I walked in and went straight to the fridges looking for a few that someone had requested. As there were so many options, initially I was having a bit of a struggle looking, but managed to find 1 type so grabbed a case and started loading it up. The staff working the counter came over to ask if I needed any help and so I let him know the ones I was looking for, which he pointed out to me. Once I filled the case, I carried it over to the counter and asked if I could leave it there for now. After I found the 3 types, I asked if there were any ciders or "easy drinks" to pick up for some of my other guests. He was very helpful in providing descriptions and recommendations! I had to grab another small case to hold the others that I ended up choosing. Once I was done, he cashed me out and also gave a small bag of chips (something about minimum spent & due to the ciders). As I had purchased basically a 2-4 plus 6, he asked if I needed help loading it in my car, which I said yes if he could. Good thing there is a free parking lot right by the entrance! Excellent experience here! Would love to visit again sometime for a dine-in to try their food as well!

We came to here because we'd tried their beer before and really enjoyed it, and we also read that…read morethe brewery was dog-friendly. So naturally, we brought our two little dogs and grabbed a spot on the patio. My wife and I both got beer flights, and we were really impressed with quite a few of the beers. We're pretty picky when it comes to sours, but the Cherry Cheesecake Sour and Guava Sour were standouts for us. Both were fantastic and easily some of our favourites of the flight. For food, I went with the Smoked Mac & Cheese. It was a little soupy underneath the top layer of cheese, but it still had an awesome smoky flavour, especially with the brisket mixed in. The BBQ drizzle was awesome and sweet too. Overall, I really enjoyed it. My wife got the Fish Tacos. She enjoyed the flavour, although she's had better fish tacos elsewhere. They became soggy pretty quickly, but she still liked them overall. Unfortunately, what really put a damper on our visit was an interaction involving our dogs. At one point, a couple with dogs came onto the patio. Our dogs barked as they walked by, and one of their dogs was also pretty reactive, which actually made us feel a little better because we knew we weren't the only ones dealing with that. However, we were later told by staff that we'd have to leave if our dogs continued barking. We've visited a lot of dog-friendly breweries and patios, and we've honestly never had this issue before. We completely understand that excessive barking can disturb other customers, and we're always responsible for our dogs, but being told we'd have to leave really rubbed us the wrong way, especially in a place that advertises itself as dog-friendly. What made it worse was that we immediately felt anxious and uncomfortable for the rest of our visit. Instead of being able to relax and enjoy our food, we felt like we had to rush through the rest of our meal because we were worried our dogs might bark again and we'd be asked to leave. It really wasn't a good feeling at all, and unfortunately it took away a lot of the enjoyment from what had otherwise been a nice visit. What's frustrating is that the staff themselves were actually very, very nice. I had a great conversation with one of the employees and have nothing bad to say about the people working there. It was specifically the handling of the dog situation that really disappointed us. If you're going to advertise yourself as dog-friendly, we feel there should be a reasonable expectation that dogs are going to...well, act like dogs sometimes. The beer was excellent, the food was good, and the staff were friendly, but unfortunately that interaction and the anxiety it caused for the remainder of our meal...brought our overall rating way down. Anyway, on our most recent trip to cottage country, we dutifully pulled into the Weber's parking lot and amazingly the lineup wasn't completely insane. They've got the whole thing running like a well-oiled machine, as you order and pay in line, and then eventually your food is handed to you. I was worried we'd have to sit in the heat but they have a spacious (and air conditioned!) seating area inside a train car. It's really nice. As for the burger, it's solid. Nothing about it blew me away, but it definitely hit the spot. The fries were really tasty, too. Next time I'd probably go with a double burger since the single just felt a little too puny. (I also want to shout out the service, as we asked to change our drink after it had already been made and they happily obliged!) Weber's is pretty awesome, I can admit it. Hopefully we'll be back someday.

It's right off of the highway and they recently added additional areas for quick ordering and patio seatings outside. The main dine-in area can get very packed with long line-up but it moves quickly. Menu is very simple (burgers, hot dogs, fries) and prices are very basic compared to most diners and burger places elsewhere - everything is under $10. They have 1 vegetarian burger option (Garden Burger) that is very mediocre. Topping selections are also the usual and very simple - tomato slices, pickles, and diced onion. It's popular as a quick food stop with casual diner ambiance, but I'd pass on the food. The outdoor patio / seating area is nice, right by a park. Service is fast, efficient, and friendly. Washrooms are nice and clean. If the main parking lot is full, you can park across the street and take the bridge to cross the highway.

They have a great menu, reminiscent of the kind of menu you can find in really good American restaurants along the east and west coasts. I live in Toronto, and nothing really compares. The Caesar Salad with a Twist was great, the air-dried prosciutto was super thin and crispy, with cornbread croutons and fried capers, definitely a nice "twist." The fish taco was good too. The Open Face Prime Rib was a bit disappointing. The beef was dry and had a strange smell. It's not that the beef itself was bad, just that it didn't seem to have been cleaned or prepared properly.
