I was up in Muskoka and we came here for dinner on a Saturday around 5pm. I had my initial…read morehesitations thinking it might be some basic pub food. Who knew this restaurant out in Gravenhurst is better than many Toronto restaurants in the city. One of my fav meals in a while. This Oar recently undergone a new concept change to Lamorna. While they still kept the Oar as their name given the familiarity and reputation of the previous restaurant concept, the menu and indoor decor has completely changed with a new chef in the last couple months. The menu is farm to table and it rotates weekly, and I can really taste the quality difference. Note a burger will always be on the menu and we really like their dry age burger, rich and the accompanying fries are so delicious, I wouldn't mind ordering more on the side. We also dined at their outdoor patio and were able to bring my friends' pups to dine with us. Towards the end of the meal, the chef even came out to personally greet us and we can really feel the passion and care he places in his food. His menu is inspired by his travels and he recently sold two of his restaurants and took on this opportunity to head up this restaurant. The chef actually goes around and sources ingredients directly from the farms and locally in his own car. We also appreciated the fresh pasta and thick cut schnitzel. We also absolutely love the eggplant and the croquettes too. Actually everything we had was great and a highlight and that's rare for me to find all the dishes impressive at a restaurant. Highly recommend to get their bread service so you can use the bread to clean up the sauces from the remaining plates. Bread is not included unless ordered. I also love the charm of the plates and cutlery. They open a box of different knives you can pick to dine with. I'll Highly recommend this spot! The attention to detail, quality in food and personal service makes this spot special.

All of us were delightfully surprised by the food and the overall experience. They had picnic tables on the patio and plenty of tables/booths inside + a bright large enclosed room beside the patio. Service was warm and friendly, who was attentive to my son and my family. She recommended the burger. They patty was grounded in house and seasoned perfectly and you can choose the fries, salad or daily soup as a side. You can also upgrade to poutine or onion rings (which looked good from a nearby table). Spring salad was well presented and fresh. Prices were higher than comparative restaurants in Toronto (eg Poutine is $15) but it feels like everything in Muskoka is pricier! A gem in Gravenhurst, I would recommend to stop by on your way in/out of Muskoka! It's also right across the street from Sawdust Brewery if you fancy a brew before or after!

Queuing up for like 15-20 mins for what looks like a pretty basic burger topped with your choice of American cheese, thick bun, onions, pickle, tomato and ketchup and mustard. The burger turned out even better than expected. I definitely taste the smokey flavour. Definitely not a flavour I can easily achieve with our gas bbq at home. We got the double cheese burger with everything except mustard. The cheese is melted between the patties and definitely not as bland as some of the previous reviews mentioned. I think with a thicker bun, a double is needed to create the balanced bite. What's really cool is the vibe and history of this place for that I at least have to give them a star. Fun fact, the owner purchased part of the CN Tower complex to build this pedestrian bridge across the highway so people who came down south can still park and come across the highway safely to enjoy the their burgers. Apparently in the 1970s/80s so many people did it by foot that it became a safety hazard. It's believed to be the only privately owned pedestrian bridge spanning a public highway in Ontario. The owner has purchased retired railway cars to expand his operations for a meat processing facility, washrooms and more. There are also plenty of outdoor seating around this area. They also partnered with Tesla to have supercharger stations on either side of the highway, which makes it a perfect resting spot for those who have electric vehicles. Definitely a unique spot to try at least once if you happen to pass by. Debit and cash only. Line moves quite efficiently as they have a lot of staff assembling and processing orders.

Even at 8pm there was a line at least 80 people long. However, I really give them credit for the efficient line service. While you're waiting, they will take your order and payment. By the time you get to the front of the line, your food is ready for pick up. We spent a total of 20 minutes from parking the car to eating our food. The food itself is pretty meh. Yes, I can taste some charcoal grill smokiness but the flavour is quite bland. I also wish the cheese was melted, and the bun was toasted or warm. The poutine had lots of cheese curds, but they were a tad too salty and the gravy was very watery. The fries themselves seem good when eaten with ketchup. I think this is a cool spot to try but the food was really meh.
