Great experience. We stayed up the street at the Hilton Garden Inn for our babymoon and after a Yelp search found this nearby Winery. We wanted to buy a bottle for my aunt who we planned to see the following day. I asked for a tasting and tried maybe 5 or 6 bottles. We ended up buying three. The Chardonnay is probably the best California white I've ever come across. We will most definitely come again. read more

We felt like Magnavino family after only an hour here! My girlfriends and I went up to the "Central Coast" (as I learned from the radio) for a 2-day getaway since my friend got a free hotel in Oxnard. And multiple times we were asked: "Why did you come to Oxnard??" The answer, to meet and see the amazing Magnavino Cellars. Not really, but I'm gonna go with it. We learned that we were only a 2-minute drive from the one winery still open in Oxnard. And after calling Magnavino twice and getting giggly Lori on the phone, we were convinced we had to go. 6-7 tastings, a photoshoot, and 3 bottles of wine purchased later, it was the best trip ever already. And we were one hour into the whole weekend. The wines were all unique, had incredible depth and flavor, and were all well priced. The place is so beautiful inside - outside it looks like you're in the wrong place. It's an industrial complex (as noted on the building next door, which has a sign like "Welcome to the Oxnard Industrial Complex" hahaha). But inside the owners have done an incredible job of making it feel intimate, classy and wine-y. They were also throwing a family dinner the night we came, so we got to meet the owner and her family from out of town. It was an incredible hour that I wish could have lasted the whole night. But don't worry later we got drunk with local Ventura pumas and cougars so it was a great night in the end. read more

So far my favorite tasting room in the area. It has the cutest decor. The owner and staff are also very welcoming and friendly.

We visited this winery this past Sunday. I was a little confused when we pulled into the parking lot, but then I opened the door and was taken back by how beautifully done the inside was. It was amazing. First time here and won't be the last!!! read more

Magnavino Cellars - Wine Tasting - Wineries Near Me - Oxnard, California

This is a great tasting room to visit if don't feel like traveling north. There are also a couple others that are near by so you can make a day of it. The wine room is located in a warehouse and the area is kinda similar to the Lompoc wine ghetto. Don't be fooled because this place is beautiful inside. You can really feel welcomed in this place when you are here. Barrel tasting? No problem. Wine making is in the room next door and all you need to do is ask. Everyone is so friendly here and it's oozing with good vibes and that is why I can give this place a 5 star. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The owner came into the tasting room and asked if we wanted to check out the fermenting grapes. We did! He showed us the grapes and even let us push down on them with our hands. Definitely a fun and unique experience. All of the wines were tasty and they waive the $10 tasting fee with the purchase of a red wine bottle. They also had yummy cheeses and crackers on the side to enjoy! read more

Magna Zin: Magnavino's Old Vine and Not-As-Old Vine Zins One hour from the Santa Clarita Valley, in a large industrial park, is home to a grand tasting room and winery - both fitted with chandeliers, cozy seating and a bit of Tuscany - and framed by the warm and welcoming staff of Magnavino Cellars. I had been there before, but it never ceased to surprise me how winery owners Robert and Barbara Wagner had brought home a slice of Italy with them after visiting the country - in the influence of the winery and, in their wines. On this trip I tasted at least nine wines, two of which I took home to review at greater length: 2010 Zinfandel Lodi Appellation, 15.1% Alcohol Color: Deep garnet stretched out to a purple edge. Aroma: Dark blackberry fruit, thick jam, stewed plums, cigar, toasted oak, and cracked black peppercorns tickled my nose. Taste: Rich bowl-of-ripe-berries, toast, (want to put the two together for jam on toast), nicely balanced and lingering tannins, dark chocolate, same dark and smoky qualities that I found on the nose for a full mouth feel of fruit and spice. 2010 Old Vine Zinfandel Lodi Appellation. 16.2% Alcohol Color: Almost the same as the first Zin. Aroma: A little more black pepper and spice rack on the nose, red licorice, mint, paired against black currants, smoke and leather. Taste: Black cherries, blueberries, juicy, dusty and firm tannins, pleasant lingering pepper and tingling fruit on the finish. Tasting Back to Back Wanting to see how much of a difference between the two, and not looking again at my notes, I went back and forth between the two glasses to see what I thought in comparison. On the nose I got more vegetal notes on the straight Zin than the Old Vines that I hadn't detected before. Also a meatier quality - in both - that now made me crave a good Bolognese. In the mouth, and damn if I didn't appreciate both, but I thought the Old Vine was fruitier than the straight Zin. I tried them again, and yes, I could see that difference. But if I were to choose between the too, and I usually go for more tannins than fruit, I'd go for the Old Vines. Now that I was done I turned the bottles around to learn more about each. Note to those doing a tasting: Don't read the labels first as winemaker notes are on these bottles including handy food pairings! Now, it's your turn. http://www.Magnavino.com Owned by Robert and Barbara Wagner; Robert is also the winemaker. read more

I've been to Magnavino several times just to taste and for pick-up parties. The wine, staff and atmosphere are great! Good place to go for any occasion; bring friends or just to hang around on a lazy weekend. Atmosphere: Walk into a warm, well decorated warehouse split into an inviting tasting area and barrel cellar. Snacks and flavored water were always provided. Wines: Predominantly red wines that are spot on the varietal (Pinot Noir, Sangio, Petite Syrah and the Zin) with several decent blends. Handful of white wines that I also like (gewurztraminer, Butterfly). You'll find something that you like!!! Staff: Informative, funny, charming. They're the extra smile in a overall great experience! Worth the "Let's check this place out" if you're in the area. read more

Where to begin!!! My girlfriends took me on a wine tour of my 50th birthday. We used Explore Wines with Lisa as our guide. Our stop at Magnavino Cellars was by far our favorite!!! They treated us with such attention and taught us so much about wines!!! We were given a back room tour and were allowed to taste grape juice from fermenting grapes and I was even allowed to "punch down" the grapes!!! Best wine I've ever drank - by far! read more

There are a lot of local wineries that have sprung up over the last decade. Most, like Magnavino, are in nondescript buildings. I've tried many of them and I have to say that Magnavino is, by far, my favorite of the bunch. I have probably been there 6 or 7 times in the last year. The quality of the wines along with the friendliness of the staff, makes this the place to go for wine. They are only open on weekends - which makes it a bit tricky when you're craving some good wine during the week. The atmosphere at the tasting bar is always fun - and the staff will always try to help you find a wine you like. They often have bottles open that are not on the tasting list (just ask). They recently announced they would be having Friday night entertainment events and just had their first sunday brunch (it was an incredible gospel brunch). If the brunch is any indication of events to come, it should be an awesome time! Rob and Barbara (the owners) are very hands-on and usually floating around the winery. They will often be behind the bar pouring or will stop and chat with their customers. They are great people! If you're looking for great wine - don't be fooled by the exterior of their commercial location. You'll be glad you stepped inside. read more

Definitely, our favorite winery in the area. The wine portfolio is broad so there is a wine for everyone. The wine club and pickup parties are first class read more

First time visitor. Attended their holiday boutique. You would never know this beautiful winery was behind the walls of the warehouse! Boutique was small, but very nice. Wine tasting was great. Limited appetizers, but who was there to eat? Barbara and Robert are wonderful hosts! Will be back! read more

We just spent the afternoon wine tasting in Oxnard California. We stopped by Magavino which recently opened it's tasting area. They did a wonderful job with the space complete with a very comfy, leather couch! We walked out of there with 12 bottles of various types. My favorite is the Zinfandel (2008) but everything we tasted was great. If you're in the area, definitely stop by! This was our first experience in Oxnard wine tasting and we have to say that it feels much more "mom and pop" than the vineyards north and west of there. There are great deals on hotels in the area too as I think they are trying to get people to stop in Oxnard and not continue north from LA. read more

Really shouLd be 4 1/2 stars but they have such yummy wine and super nice hard working owners that I chose 5. The only thing I would improve on would be to bring in more comfy couch groupings. Like a grouping of 4 or 5 throughout the room and get some more cute retail items. Keep us there longer by making it more inviting to sit, relax and drink. The owners are very cool. Took us in the cellar for some barrel tasting free of charge. Can't wait for the new zin release!!! Great place in our own backyard! read more

I visited this wine room with a bunch of my (30 year old) girlfriends. It's located in an odd industrial area, but the actual tasting room is adorable. Unfortunately, I lost my ID just prior to coming in. We barely walked up to the bar and in the middle of the bartender's warm welcome, the male owner demanded to see everyone's ID. I told them I had lost it and they refused to serve me, which I figured would happen and was completely understandable. The part that gets me though is how incredibly rude the male owner was about it! The ladies asked for my birthday, and the guy interrupted and super aggressively told me they wouldn't serve me. I politely said that was fine, no biggie, and all the girls behind the bar were super apologetic and sweet about it. They served my friends and I stood there chatting with the ladies. They asked what happened, and said they could tell I was obviously over 21 and maybe if there was a faxed copy of my passport or a picture of my passport... When the guy jumped in again and growled that they can't take it and I wasn't allowed to be served. I told the girls it was really ok, no big deal. A few minutes later my fiancé sent me a picture of my ID, so I laughed and showed the ladies "I know you can't take it but, here it is, ha ha ha"... The guy once again jumps in WE CANT TAKE THAT, ABC laws blah blah blah. He proceeded to stand there, arms crossed and glaring the entire time. My friends quickly drank their glass and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. You poor sweet ladies working there. I hope we just caught him on a bad day and you don't have to deal with him like that all the time. I'll definitely visit again (with ID) and hope for a better experience. read more

This little spot is absolutely wonderful! I was visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this incredible little winery. At first glance, it doesn't look like much. In the corner of an industrial looking building, hidden amongst doctor offices and such, this really is a wonderfully hidden gem. Entering this cozy establishment is just the beginning of what was a lovely evening. There were only 3 other guests, ladies who apparently lived down the road but had never been there either. Their comments when they left echoed what I was already thinking. This place is wonderful! The manager was a bit busy doing paperwork, but she took a few minutes to answer a few mundane questions I had, then politely turned me over to a very competent Leah, the lovely lady working that evening. Soon I was the only customer, and had her full attention. She took me on a little tour, told me about the history of the winery and discussed at length the making of their wine and the amazing parties, game nights, and random festivities they have for their guests. The wine was Delicious! The price for a tasting amd a plate of delectable cheeses (which change weekly) with other snacks, was really good. If you have a chance to try the apricot cheese, do it! The pinot noir was my favorite of the wines I tried, but I fully intend on going back and trying more. The ambiance, the wine, the prices, and the service each deserve 5 stars on their own. I love this winery! read more

Robert and Barbara are perfect hosts (and Coco too). They really welcome you into their 'home' and create a festive atmosphere. The building is very unassuming. You'd never think to find a beautiful tasting room among numerous warehouses. I enjoyed an evening of music (Highway Down tore it up) and dining (let's talk about carrot souffle). Looking forward to the release of "Beautiful" this Fall. read more

I went to one of the best wine pickup parties at Magnavino Cellars. Their hired caterers were fantastic; the food and decorations for their "Island Paradise" party were perfect and every table was filled with delighted guests! You would never guess that this marvelous wine tasting room is inside an industrial looking building. I believe Barbara and Bob Wagner were brilliant in this choice, and pass the savings on to their delicious wines. Opening just a few years, they have amassed a huge following. Their wine is exceptional, winning some outstanding awards, their decorating inside the building is warm and inviting and their staff is just great. Barbara and Bob are the friendliest, down to earth, hard working, caring people. I love this place. read more

Epic pick up parties. Great people yummy wine. Great place to stop by and have a tasting.

Another excellent winery/tasting room in Oxnard. Very good wines, right up there with those we've tasted from Napa, Sonoma, and the Central Coast. It can be hard to find, in an industrial park off of Rice Avenue east of the city, but once inside it feels very comfortable. read more

A Beautiful Tasting room, friendly staff, and great wines..... need I say more?

The BEST winery around! The atmosphere here is so awesome. The people are always amazing. Standing around you see people who feel so welcome and comfortable. Friendly conversation is always flowing. When you come here you are treated like family. ALL of their wine is fantastic! There isn't one I don't like, and usually you'd find one. Their latest release included Magnitude with is PHENOMINAL! Everyone needs to try this wine, or you're missing out read more

Although popular during my Saturday afternoon visit, I'm not sure why because the wine is average. I didn't find a bottle worth purchasing during the $10 tasting which covered eight wines. The wines had chemical characteristics which might have come from the detergent used to wash the glasses. Cheese and crackers were available to aid the tasting. Most bottles are priced in the mid-$20 to the mid $30 which is on the high side for grapes sourced from Lodi. read more

An extremely warm and friendly environment which enhanced our wine tasting experience. Wines are moderately priced and well made. Kudos to Robert and Barbara for creating such a gem! read more

I could say that my first trip on wine tasting is remarkable. This place brought into me the passion of red wine. I love this place, not only because of its looks but also because of the friendly people there. Robert took me tour in his wine-making room and having me to taste the wine from the barrel. I love "Petie Sirah", hope I did not spell it wrong, it made a very good impression to me and I actually bought home one bottle, and one Viognier. Yet, my first impression when I entered the room that I am hit by the big wall with a drawing of grape trees and wine barrel. The drawing is beautiful, to me. Stepping into the tasting room, I am lead by the music played by a guitar artist. I really want to ask him to take a picture but I am afraid that I may distract him, so didn't take a chance. However, enjoying the bitter, the sweet of red wine and swiping my mind with music was really more than just pleasure. It is a classical joy of drinking and I could not resist. I am happy to become the club member, and wishing Magnavino cellars will thrive and make more good wine. read more

My wife and I love love love Rob and Barb and the wines they put together (not like it sounds- Rob has a taste for blends and may be a genius- His taste buds certainly are talented). They not only provide great tasting wines, but they are warm and welcoming and friendly and just fun to visit. Their crew of family, friends and employees make a visit very enjoyable. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. The wines are delicious and the ambiance is even better! Don't let the industrial exterior fool you, go inside and find a little bit of Italy in Oxnard. read more

Yes, you are in the right neighborhood. Don't be deterred by the industrial surroundings of this Oxnard winery and tasting room. Once you get inside, prepare to be transported by artfully crafted décor, terrific wines, and an inviting staff that makes you feel like they've been waiting for you to join the party. Accented by a stunning chandelier, plush couches, and windows that offer a view of stacked wine barrels in the adjacent warehouse, the atmosphere makes you feel like you've stumbled upon something of a secret. But atmosphere and nice folks aside, they make impressively good wine here. So good, in fact, that it inspired us to join our very first wine club. So I anticipate many more trips to the great city of Oxnard to partake in wine tastings and wine club events, where one is encouraged to let loose and have fun. Because, as the sign in their bathroom says, "What happens at the winery, stays at the winery." read more
