I stopped here looking for crystals, as I was thinking of the shop that was here prior to Magic Hour. But the person I needed a gift for is a person who I think will also appreciate a gift of tea of the nature sold at Magic Hour. Their shop has a calm vibe and the atmosphere is relaxed. There were so many teas to choose from, it might have been nice if a shop person had asked if I needed any help. But I really appreciated that they had sniffer tins and I used those, along with the descriptions, to help me find something for my friend. The products all have really attractive packaging, and I did like that they had some tarot cards and oracle decks. I would have liked some additional products too (like crystals), but otherwise this is a really cool shop. read more

I'm so glad I finally made it here! I'm a huge tea lover and this place offers a diverse range of ceremonial organic teas. Whether you're looking for wellness or traditional; they have it. It's kind of overwhelming, so come with patience and take your time. I love the vibe here! It's witchy, but in a good way, mystical and spiritual. The ladies here are welcoming and very helpful. I tried the coconut chai tea and it was comforting and yummy to sip on. I asked to have it less sweetened too. They had a few sample teas to try as well. The tea sections are aesthetically arranged by color, which makes it pleasing to the eye. They offer astrology teas for every sign, which are specifically created with intention based on your sign. Aside from tea, they also have a gift section that offers tarot cards, incense, candles, perfume and beautiful jewelry from Satya. I own a few pieces of Satya, so it was nice to see they offer it here. I ended up purchasing a gold tea leaf cover for steeping my tea, a tea ball infuser with a moonstone, and a wooden matcha scoop. Prices here are a little steep (no pun) ha! I plan to gradually build my tea collection though. I love to purchase items that I can't find anywhere else. I consider it an investment lol. During the month of March, they're offering Equinox afternoon tea. This includes tea sandwiches, scones, and cookies. There's a gluten-free option too. Check out their website for more information. This is a beautiful shop that sells artisan tea blends as well as a carefully curated selection of teaware, beauty items, and gifts. The ambiance is enchanting and serene with gorgeous, mystically-themed packaging and decor. However, the customer service is seriously lacking. For the price point, one would expect more helpfulness during beverage service or shopping. Instead, I was given terse, begrudging responses by one of the salespeople during the 45 minutes I spent there drinking a small pot of tea and then purchasing a few items to take home. For context, my appearance was neat and clean, my questions were few, polite, and unassuming, and I was clearly interested in buying things--so I'm not sure what warranted the aloof treatment. There was another salesperson who arrived towards the end of my shopping experience who was friendlier and more willing to assist--it was not enough to save the entire visit, but at least I felt better about the money I had spent. I've enjoyed almost all of the teas I've tried from when this was Zhena's Gypsy Tea to now as Magic Hour. I'm so excited that they moved locations and have so much more space now for afternoon tea and hanging out. I'm looking forward to trying the afternoon tea! It was my first time visiting Ojai, my friend and I were doing some exploring and we decide to explore the store, we were so relieved there was the tea shop on site, it's very spacious with ample amount of seating inside and on the patio. Luxury prices, bargain-basement service. Magic Hour Tea happily charges premium prices for tea, upsells shipping insurance, and then completely disappears when a package fails to arrive. My order is still unaccounted for with FedEx, and despite clear evidence of a stalled shipment, the company has refused to intervene or provide any meaningful assistance. Customer service consisted of a dismissive, useless response that offered zero information, zero effort, and zero accountability. Once they had my money, they were done. If you enjoy paying top dollar for pretty packaging and being abandoned the moment there's a problem, this is the company for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. read more

This is such a sketchy company. I will never order from them ever again. I ordered directly from their website. It's was a $112 order bc everything on their website is super expensive Then exactly 3 weeks later I still haven't gotten any tracking information whatsoever. Therefore, I tried emailing their customer service that's on their website had heard nothing back except from their AI customer service team. 24 hours passes so I try emailing the other email that's on their website about just getting a refund. I even tried calling their number and got their voicemail. I had originally paid with PayPal so I put in a claim to PayPal for a refund and then an hour later I get an email from this company saying that my tracking details are ready and then it's been shipped. That is super sketchy and frankly disgusting. I would give a zero star review if I could. read more

This is such a great place to come and enjoy some tea. My husband and I have been going every Sunday because we just love it. They have a huge variety of specialty teas to choose from. We get the tea for two and you get a pot of tea and 2 beautiful tea cups to drink it from with a little hour glass timer that tells you when your tea is done steeping. The little shortbread cookie on the side is a nice touch. They also have a few baked goods that you can purchase with some gluten free option along with regular. The shop has beautiful displays of tea and gift items. The staff is amazing and always so welcoming and greets everyone with a smile and checks on you to make sure you are enjoying everything. Magic Hour is an incredibly fun store for all! Whether you're the most experienced teat enthusiasts or a newtea... uh... newby. It kind of feels like you're stepping inside a magic shop...think the Ollivander's Wand Shop (from Harry Potter) of tea! There are SO MANY varieties and they all have easily accessible testers (all in cool containers that feel like you're taking a whiff of a magic potion! It's a bit overwhelming how much tea they have. They even have a cool room set up where you can lounge out and drink tea! They have outdoor seating as well. Honestly... my wife is the one who's much more into tea than I... but I had a great time and I would think the uniqueness of a shop like this makes it a MUST VISIT on your next trip to Ojai! read more

This is a great tea shop. We've ordered different types of tea from this shop, over the years & have visited the shop a few times as well. The staff is always friendly & welcoming - always ready to give recommendations when asked. So far, we've only attended one event here: the tea service offered on Valentine's day. It was a nice experience and everything presented was great! The only negative thing was the $15 service fee in order to book the reservation. I'm not sure if it was Magic Hour or the 3rd party service used who charged the fee (probably the latter) but I'm hoping Magic Hour does something to combat these excessive fees. read more

This was the best avocado toast I've had ever. I cannot say one bad thing about this establishment. In fact, I cannot wait to go back and bring my friends and family. The bread was locally baked and the veggies/herbs were farm to table. After lunch, I had to go to the farmers market and grab some of the products used for the best Avo toast I've ever had. No responses and no resolution. Tea is amazing however they have No Customer support. Update I finally got a resolution and all the correct items ordered. Honestly really sad to write this. I love this tea shop, but this is the second time I've been in for tea and both times fell short. First time, chef brought out food with hair on it. He apologized and substituted it with something else. That was a bummer because one of us missed out on trying what the hair was on. Today, I took my mom in for Mother's Day. I preordered and paid for gluten free for myself. Chef brought out regular items for both of us. I advised that one should've been gluten free. His response was "well I didn't get a note. I only make what has been ordered." I showed him my receipt and he again repeated "well I didn't get a note" He told two people who may have been managers and they all just looked at me. When I later asked for a box, so my mom could take home what I didn't eat, I told the person who may have been a manager and he acknowledged having been told. I had to ask "so how are we going to rectify this?" I was given a gift card, but honestly, the lack of professionalism and no ownership for the mistake was really disappointing. I did tell the chef that I have an autoimmune disease and can't eat gluten but it touching the stuff I could eat wouldn't affect me. He made no effort to serve me something else. Nothing!! My husband has been a catering cdc for over 20yrs. We are constantly baffled by how many establishments don't train their staff in food allergies and sensitivity. I understand that some people avoid things cause it's the latest trend, but others are medically unable and should be treated accordingly. You have no idea who is who and what can kill someone or make them sick. read more

OMG I just love love love this place! I've been ordering online for months now. Decided to take a weekend trip to Ojai and stopped by the tea room. Wow! So much to offer and explore. They had a soft opening of their tea parlor, which was fun. Zhena is the ultimate hostess, adding to her long list of accomplishments as an exquisite tea purveyor and zen artiste. Drove a ridiculous amount of miles to get here before they closed and they had locked their door and disappeared to the back. Please stop hiring children, people don't like their time wasted. They wouldn't even answer their phones for like the last 45 minutes before closing. We got there at exactly 5:55pm. Not a minute later or sooner. All of your staff had left the floor to the back and had locked the doors. We waited around for over 10 minutes while knocking, banging on your doors and calling the store. Not a single person came to see what all the noise was about or answered the phone. Please check your cameras, don't just take your staffs word for it. You have the means to prove that they were lying to you. We knew exactly what we needed too and it would have been a quick in and out. If they had answered their phones, we would have asked if they could gather the teas for us so we wouldn't have had to walk around and take longer than necessary. Complete garbage the amount of time your staff wasted. I'll be heading to all the other sites to leave appropriate feedback as well. read more

You can tell a lot of thought goes into selecting their product all the way down to the details of the packaging. The ladies behind the counter are always sweet and welcoming; I have yet to meet the owner, but someday I hope to! I'd love to meet the mastermind behind this gem! Could've been better. Fantastic boutique and specialty teas. Unsurpassed quality. Had great service one time (I think her name was Moriah). But when I tried to get some help with a shopping spree for a family member, I was told "no can do". While I totally understand it's difficult to devote staff to a specific customer, it seems like a good opportunity for a tiny shop way outside of the tourist traffic. I got the BAD feminine vibes on my first visit twice as I was ready to pay. The first was when I was going to order tea for two. I waited patiently as someone infront of me seemed to be having an issue that it took 4-5 employees to help her. It suddenly got awkward when they all started chatting away n never acknowledged me. We were in Ojai for my best friend's bachelorette weekend and we made a tea time reservation at Magic Hour through Resy. The tea time includes tea and a platter of little sandwiches and pastries. When filling out our party information, I added gluten free for my own dietary restriction and shared the reservation with my friend so she could add vegan for her dietary restriction. We had two more girls in the party who had no dietary restrictions. When the waitress came by, I confirmed that I am gluten free and that my friend sitting across from me is vegan. When they brought out the food, it was all gluten free and all vegan. Soon after, we realized and told the waitress that two of the girls wanted the regular option and had not selected the vegan or gluten free options. After a lot of back and forth with the chef, she ultimately said there was nothing she could do. We asked how much it would cost to order an extra tea time service platter and she informed us that it would be an additional $110 (which is the price for 2 more complete experiences). We requested to order it even with the exorbitant price. She left to inform the chef. After about 10 minutes, she came back and for some reason went over the prices item by item again. Her: "Ok, so just to confirm, the tea service is $55 each per person." Us: "Yes, we know" Her: "And adding the extra platter is an additional $110." Us: "Yes, you told us already." Her: "So the total plus gratuity comes out to around $400. Is that price ok for you?" Us: "Yes it is." Her: "Ok so you wouldn't mind paying now, would you?" First, they bring the wrong food and do not correct the mistake. Second, they question if we have the ability to pay. Third, they make us pay halfway through the meal. Like we were going to dine and dash. We paid as requested and were polite throughout the whole experience. But at the end of it, we were left feeling shocked and disrespected. It was an unfortunate event that left a bad note on an otherwise lovely weekend in Ojai celebrating my best friend getting married. Firstly, the teas are absolutely amazing! MAGIC HOUR TEAS popped up ad a Facebook ad and I decided to click on it and I'm so glad I did. Watched a few videos and browsed the website. Sooooooo many options! I initially ordered the Chakra collection along with two other flavors. The scent is intoxicating and the flavors are out of this world! I knew I wanted to buy more for myself, so I decided to take a little road trip to Ohji! I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to stop by the salon since I was planning on visiting family in Bakersfield. I'm so glad I did! The store is beautiful! The energy is peaceful and calm. So inviting! When I walked in, J****** was assisting a couple and she was so kind and friendly to the couple she was helping. After she finished gift wrapping their order and said their goodbyes, she assisted me with the same kind and friendly demeanor. I had a list of about 17 teas that I wanted and J****** was so helpful, walking all over the store gathering the teas on my list. She also offered me their tea of the day, which was Ruby (delicious). I did try to order the entire Gem collection, but that's something that has to be done online. I attempted to do so but was having an issue placing the order. J****** was kind enough to take down my information and said she would have customer service reach out to me to assist me with fulfilling the rest of my order. My entire experience was an above and beyond experience and I'm sure anyone who becomes a patron will have the same experience. Once J****** rounded up my teas, I asked if she had any suggestions that she thinks I would enjoy. She recommended "Queen of the South: Divinely Delicious Coco Detox Tea for The Bold and Brilliant." I'll be trying that, right after this review! I also asked if she could recommend a delicious tea that has Butterfly Pea Flower, since my aunt saw a post of mine on Facebook and fell in love with the color! J****** recommended "Queen of Wellness: Women's Vitalitea." My aunt absolutely loves the tea and has reached out to me, twice, to tell me so! Thank you, J******! I'm a supporter of small business, women owned businesses, minority owned businesses, and business that put out good energy. So, becoming a patron of this business was no brainer.
