We dropped into Pixie's General Store on our wedding anniversary while walking around downtown Ojai. It looked like a good place to buy cards and do a little window shopping. The shop was cute and bountiful, full of charming gift items and Ojai-themed goods. There were books and housewares, clothes and toys, lots of neat things. Not much in the way of anniversary cards, but we decided to exchange two beautiful cards made by Ojai artists. One was by a woman named Josephine Maxson, and it featured a painting of hers called "Lucky Duck," with Ojai tangerines in the foreground. The other showed a watercolor rendering of downtown Ojai, painted by none other than the store's owner Whitney Hartmann. We found this out from the nice lady at the register, as we were checking out. My husband and I exchanged the cards later in the day, and they made lovely keepsakes from our weekend in Ojai. I'm glad we shopped at Pixie's General Store. We couldn't have found those two cards anywhere else in the world. read more

Pixies is such a great little store. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and there is always something new to discover. This is a great spot to find the perfect gift, locally themed items and cute kids clothes. Pixies also has a rack with high end, resale clothing - often cashmere sweaters can be found. They carry everything from char- man salsa, to Betty belts jewelry, to a small selection of candies, books and toys ... I've gotten fall themed mugs, Christmas cards and decorations and local gifts for family and friends. I love to stop in after the farmers market and there is almost always something new going on! read more

I absolutely fell in love with this store today! It's so cute in here. Everything they sell is hand picked out by the owner. I love all the local artist's items, party supplies, kiddo supplies and decor. It is higher prices but it's worth it to support a local business and get some really unique stuff! She will also make special party favors or specific orders you may have. Such a cool store and wonderful owner! read more

I came here with my friend on a recent trip to Ojai. I don't have a baby. My friend doesn't have a baby. We don't even have boyfriends. i'm really not sure why we felt like we should stop in here but the items they have are extremely cute. The selection was mostly neutral to feminine with an incredible selection of unique gift items. My friend ended up purchasing a greeting card or two here and I was very tempted to get some super cute hand-crafted barrettes but I didn't want to carry a bag around all day and also there weren't many items (that I looked at) that had prices on them. And i'm a person who does love to lavish when it comes to gifting, but for myself i'm on a budget and I want to know before I go to the register how much stuff is going to run me. read more

Super duper cute general store! Something good for everyone. I picked up a children's book & all tone skin colored crayons. Super fun!

What an adorable store. It's shiny and glittery and just simply cute. A group of friends came here (pre Covid) for a paint and wine birthday party. We had to provide our own wine but that wasn't a bit deal. The art class itself was fine. It class was average but I was entertained. I, who know very little about art and am a terrible painter/sketcher, didn't feel like I learned anything new. That said, I had a good painting terribly with my friends. But frankly we would have had fun doing just about anything... since we're friends.... that's the way that works, right? The store itself is very cute but very "girly." Even the kid's section, and this bothered me a bit. The clothing is 90% dresses, and very glittery ones at that. And the boys section mainly had shirts that said "handsome" and the like. Then there were these books: one for what it means to be a boy and another for what it means to be a girl. It said that girls are twirly and glittery and such and boys are strong and superheroes. *Queue eye roll*. I did find some glittery paint that my son thinks is the greatest thing ever though. The store is always fully stocked with a huge range of items, from stickers, books, clothes, holiday and seasonal items, candy, and local Ojai merchandise. We did a paint and sip at Pixie's for my sister's 40th! The store is adorable and the owner Whitney is the sweetest person! She made the event so special. We also loved browsing thru her collection of eco-conscious and fair labor clothing. My sister's friends have little ones so they found many adorable clothes and toys. I purchased an Indian outfit made by a company that practices fair-labor. The prices are affordable too. I am definitely going back next time I'm in town!! read more

This store is Ojai! It encompasses everything Ojai is. Cute and creative. They have something for every age. I went in to go buy a gift, but ended up with a candle and a pillow for my living room. The prices are affordable . The creativity they put into their displays are incredible. They are always changing everything too, so I often go by and find new cute stuff. The owner is typically there to greet you and is always super friendly. She sells many things from local artists. It is an all around great place. Stopped in at Baby Ojai on Signal to grab a gift! One side of the cute store has new merchandise and the other side is dedicated to higher quality consignment from babies and up. A great selection of unusual kids toys too! I opted for the cutest little boys surfin' top and swim shorts with cute shark design! The prices were reasonable and I'll definitely go back.
