Donuts look way more appealing than they really are. Dough is dense and not flavorful. There is way more donut than there is icing. The icing isn't that sweet nor does it compliment the donut. I've been here a handful of times in the past 3 years. Of the three donut shop options in Grants Pass this one seems to be the best. For one thing the owner is a very sweet and happy man, and I love his big smile every time I've walked into his store! He knows customer service, he is pleasant and friendly and now that he's moved into the bigger shop, everything looks nice and clean and there are several tables to sit and enjoy your donuts at! Another big plus for me are his hours: he is open till 3:00pm! Yay! That's great because I like my sugar shock after noon not before! Most of the variety is gone by late afternoon, but there was definitely enough for me to pick 6 different items to go. I tried a raised chocolate iced with sprinkles and a chocolate old fashioned today. The raised was lovely, cooked perfectly, and tasted yummy. The old fashioned was classic and soft and delectable. Stopped for donuts this morning because Donutland ran out early...the selection was poor and the donuts were so greasy they were hard to eat...in fact we didn't eat them after the first couple bites. We really wanted to like the donuts here, but they were huge globs of dry, over-proved bread. It was seriously so much dry bread. We bought several different things to try and took a bite into each one with the same results. Flavorless, dry, hunks of over-proved bread. Nothing donut about any of it. When the owner put Magic in the name of this business, he wasn't kidding. These are the best donuts I have ever tasted. They are not overly sweet, which allows the glazes to shine. The bear claw is delicious with spiced apples stuffed inside. The chocolate twist was almost cake like with a wonderful light glaze. My partner had the buttermilk bar, which is a wonderful light donut with a glaze that doesn't overshadow the flavor of the cake. I can't wait to try other tasty treats from this place! Reading the other reviews and taking into consideration what I have tried, means more of my money will be coming here. MAGIC indeed! Light and fluffy love one the the doughnuts which is refreshing when most doughnuts are greasy bricks and I feel sick after eating them, not these bad boys! The blueberry fritters (which before now I didn't know were a thing) so far are the best thing I've had but the cream filled are a close second. The owner is there every morning hustling these gems and is always super friendly and helpful. The building is super small which may defer some people but I feel it adds to the charm of the place, so if you like a good doughnut, b n' g, breakfast burrito or churro you should def check them out! Absolutely amazing! We went out on a limb and tried a couple items we hadn't had before. They also have churros that are tasty! I love apple fritters and tried their blueberry fritter. I loved that it wasn't greasy and had just the right amount of blueberry taste. My husband got the orange chocolate roll and I was amazed on how the flavor combo was perfect. Not too sweet and was not dry or greasy. Lastly we got a small order of biscuits and gravy. I normally have to add salt for flavor when I have gotten them from other places. I didn't need to add anything. And you know how sometimes places are stingy with the gravy? Not this place. Overall my family and I loved it and will be back for sure.
