We absolutely LOVE Magic Carpet Golf -- it's hands down one of our favorite spots in Reno! So many mini golf places are out in the direct sun with little to no shade, but this place is completely different. The courses are beautifully set under mature trees, with water features throughout that make it feel cool, relaxing, and honestly kind of magical. What really sets it apart is how well it's organized. There are three different courses, and the staff will gladly tell you which one is less crowded at the moment -- such a simple thing, but it makes a big difference when you just want to enjoy the game without waiting around. The atmosphere is the perfect mix of peaceful and playful. It's great for families, date nights, or just a fun, low-key outing. On top of that, the pricing is very reasonable (about $13 per person), especially for how much you get out of the experience. My hubby and I decided to go check out Magic Carpet Golf for some fun in the sun. While the appearance isn't much from the outside, it's all fun once you go in. Prices are lower than most other courses in the area, and the holes are significantly more challenging. There are 3 courses available- two 18-hole courses and one supersized 28-hole course. We opted for the back 18-hole course and had a lot of laughs. I highly recommend taking another look at this place. You can tell that they are consistently maintaining the courses and keeping the fun alive. It wasn't crowded when we went in the middle of the day on a weekday. The staff were friendly and they offered some great bundling options, plus I noticed their additional fees for using a credit card. We chose to do the back hole courses on this visit. We were each given a ball and got to pick out a putter to use, and a score card. It probably took us less than an hour for two of us and there was no delays, waiting for other groups ahead of us. Whenever we're on a trip, we search out the local mini-golf spots. Often we find run down, boring courses that are hardly worth the effort (but we play them anyway). So it was a great pleasure to find Magic Carpet in Reno. This place is top tier. - Three courses, one being 27 holes, so actually 3.5 courses. Note that they say 19 holes and 28 holes respectively but the final 'hole' on each course is just a slot machine deal where you drop your ball and see if you win a free round, or something. - They are all in great shape. We went here to play on a sunny Saturday as I had never been and was pleasantly surprised. They have three different courses to choose from, two 19-hole courses and one 28-hole. For two players, it is $13pp for 19-hole but if use a credit card it is $13.50pp. The courses are pretty simple so it is a leisurely game to play and socialize. It's a great place for young kids and therefore a nice family outing. There is also a patio with lots of tables to enjoy a picnic. Inside, there are video games, pinball machines and air hockey. I've been visiting the Magic Carpet location since I was a young kid. I've had many fun experiences here. Today was no exception. The prices are fair, the holes are interesting and there is lots of variety. My three year old had a lot of fun and my dad and I enjoyed it too. There are some areas of the facility that could use some work. Some of the greens are a bit roughed up and the interior of the building isn't perfect, but I know they are always working on something. read more

Magic Carpet Golf is a much bigger mini golf course than the view from the parking lot would lead you to believe. There is actually 3 courses here, two "19 hole" & one "28 hole". The last holes (19 & 28) are actually a lotto machine inside that spins for the chance at a free play. I thought this was especially cute since most other places I've been it's just a ball collector. The decorations on the courses are fairly unique and include quite a few dinosaurs (I'm sure kids LOVE these)! Multiple of the holes throughout the 3 courses involve moving parts (my personal favorite). Water fixtures here were very clean during my visit, even the ones that were drained at the time. There are a handful of arcade games in the main lobby, and a counter serving Italian ice style treats. The bathroom was updated looking and very clean also. Overall this seems like a well kept little gem. I don't live in the area but definitely plan to work this into my future Reno visits! read more

Nice mini golf establishment with plenty of golf for your mini golfing crave! My wife and I are on vacation and looking for things to do and found this place. Each course is unique and challenging and the prices are fair for what you get. Nothing was broke down everything was functional. We played 38 holes and took us about 2 hrs to complete. Such a blast! This was one of my favorite mini golf courses when I was growing up. It was always a big deal if we got to come here for field trips or if my parents brought us here. We stopped nearby for some Dutch bros and out of the blue decided to hit the course! We as a family are very spontaneous lol and decided that this late night evening needed a little fun. Came back with the kids on a HOT July day for some fun, and it's just as campy and wonderful as it's always been! The course statues and greens are still a bit worn down but surely it takes a fair share of abuse from guests. We did the middle course because my son is 100% still a dino fan. Overall, it took less than an hour to play, but we're not exactly sticklers for par; we just play to have fun. I was surprised to see after 4 or 5 years that the arcade only had about 50% of the games operational. Fine for me, I guess, so my kids can't bug me about paying for video games after golf! The $2.50/bottle soft drinks seem to have replaced what I thought was a snack bar near the front entrance, a COVID casualty, maybe? The trees and fountains provide some relief from the heat, but we came on a day that was 103°, so cooling towels and water was our best bet for getting thru the course in the heat. I didn't grow up with mini golf so I never had the interest to seek out places like Magic Carpet Golf. After becoming a parent, my mindset changed and, like many parents, we are always on the hunt for places we can take our kids. Finding places that are safe, fun and educational is like finding gold. Five years ago, when I first moved to Reno, I found such a place- Magic Carpet Golf. It drew me in, with it's inviting whimsical handmade structures and tall trees. I couldn't believe that I've been missing out on so much fun all these years. One hot summer day, I dropped in with my son and fell in love with the place. Upon entering, we were welcomed with some good old video games, many of which I played when I was a kid. I was so happy that my kids would get to experience some of the joys of my childhood. We checked in at the counter where we found three courses to choose from- a 19 hole course with a fantasy theme, a 19 whole course with a dinosaur theme and a 28 hole course with a theme unknown to me since I have yet to try it out. Me and my son tried both the fantasy and dinosaur courses between different visits. We were given a score card, putters & a ball by the nice lady at the counter, headed out to our course and went at our own pace. Of all the times I've been here, it's never been busy to the point that I felt rushed. My son had a look of pure joy as he swung with high hopes, observed the structures (some mechanical moving) and chased the ball around. It was so great to see him have so much fun, all while getting exercise and fresh air. I love the fact that mini golf is something you don't have to be good at. You take the ball, aim for the hole and swing for the win, all while being able to enjoy the ambiance they've worked so hard to create. During the pandemic, I'm even more appreciative of outdoor places like this that enable people to have a fun and safe time, allowing good air circulation and space to distance yourself from others. I used to love playing mini golf when I was back home in Hawaii. Fast forward to present day and I still have loads of fun doing it. One recent weekend, we decided to do one of the 18-hole courses ($9 per person). I can't remember which one it was, but it was the course with the T-Rex. Each course was fun, fast paced, and decorated to add it's unique characteristic. Each course definitely had its own quirks and strategy to efficiently complete it. Most of them were simple enough to make it in about two to three shots. However, there was one hole that gave me problems (I'll provide a picture of it). That course ultimately led to my defeat giving my room mate the win. Win or lose, we both had a great time. After you complete the courses and return your club, you have a chance to win a free game by inserting your golf ball into a slot machine. If you manage to hit "7-7-7", then congratulations, you won a free game! I personally loved this idea for returning your golf ball as opposed to just simply returning it over the counter. Reno is known for their casinos and Magic Carpet Golf's unique way of returning your golf ball really does represent Reno. It's the small things. Surprisingly, the weather has been pretty warm during the day and if you find yourselves bored with nothing to do, I recommend mini golfing at Magic Carpet Golf. I haven't been mini golfing in SO LONG and this was the perfect place to go to after so many years. Every hole is truly memorable and my favorites were the spider and ice cream palace, but I could be biased since I got a hole in one there ;) We played Course 1 first and when returning our balls I actually won a free game, so we went on to Course 2! Which was perfect because I was still wanting to play after we were done with the first one. It's also worth noting this place is very SHADED so it's a good option when it's hot out like it was when we went. It's easy to stay cool here which is greatly appreciated. I took my nieces here, this was our second time coming here having come years before. It's always so eye catching driving by so I thought it would be a fun activity. The lady behind the counter wasn't very happy to be there or to have more customers. Also, it felt like we were playing speed golf- with each number right next to each other and no staggering of the people going out to the golf course it wasn't that enjoyable. My nieces had fun but instead of feeling leisurely it felt rushed. I may reconsider the next time I go to a golf place for kids. My husband, son and I went mini golfing as soon as the weather got nice and had so much fun. While Magic Carpet has remained unchanged since I was my sons age, it's still just as fun. In fact going as an adult was almost mire fun than it was as a kid. The line to pay was short, we were able to choose our clubs, and did not have to wear a mask outside which was nice in the heat. We had a ton of fun trying to trick each other and make the other person mess up their swing. Somehow I won which I gloated on for a solid hour. I think the only downfall is there was a team right behind us always waiting so we did feel a bit rushed. We were going to let them go in front of us, but the team in front was going a bit slow also and we knew it would just cause a traffic jam. I think it was probably really busy that day because it the first dry warm day in a while and we were all probably scrambling for something fun to do. Of the options in this field this place is better than most of it's competitors. The courses need paint and repair. Motors not working on some of the holes. In the arcade area the pinball machines are in need of maintenance and service. The people live on site so you would think that it would become a priority. I'm guessing the arcade is not profitable enough to get basic maintenance done. Last time I was in the mechanical skull was non functional and the windmill was the same. I know it's mostly cosmetics, but more pride should go into the ascetics. read more

My coworkers and I brought our clients from work to this spot for an outing. We were a group of 10, and it did get chaotic just because there were a ton of people at the time. We came on a Thursday afternoon by noon thinking it would be slow, but there were numerous families enjoying their time. I've been here a couple times before and have always liked it. I do feel like I have outgrown miniature golfing, since I'm not very good at it. We picked the 28-hole for I believe $13.99/person instead of $9.99/person for the 19-hole. The themes and decorations for each hole were amazing! It's gorgeous, but it can get really tough and frustrating. Every hole is definitely picture worthy from dinosaurs to mines to fairytale characters. Great place for families and even date nights with your special someone! At the end of the course, you can insert your golf ball in a casino machine for a chance to win a free game. Half of the building has arcade games, and there is no food available besides some vending machines. There is some shade, but it gets really hot during the day so try for the evening.
